Situated in the heart of Manhattan's Meatpacking District, Comix puts a refreshing spin on the typical New York comedy club. Completely void of cramped space and poor sightlines, Comix boasts 300 amphitheatre-style seats in a modernly designed 5,000 square foot showroom. Pure sound, a 15 foot expandable stage, delicious cuisine, and superior cocktails from the hand-rubbed copper bar set an uptown theatre tone with a downtown comedy club feel. The very best of cutting edge improv, sketch, national Headliners and local comedians grace the stage at Comix. Comix offers Happy Hour specials from 5:30-7:30pm, Mon-Sat and provides space and customized planning for private parties, corporate meetings, and more. Step back from the days of dirty, crowded comedy clubs, and enter the redefined, spacious, and ever-evolving Comix- Manhattan's premier comedy nightclub. Life's tough. Laugh more. Comix.
I tend not to be a fan of the Meatpacking District bc it's too full of itself and too chichi for my laidback tastes. But I got free tickets to see Josh Blue awhile ago, so who was I to complain? The 3 openers + the host were pretty amazing and Josh was great too. I was really psyched about the place - it's a BEAUTIFUL club very tastefully designed. I also liked that there was no food minimum since i'd already arrived on a full stomach etc, no pressure to order whatsoever, which was great. I managed to see Kathleen Madigan and Cheech (the other half of Chong) also complimentary, and again - same vibe. The latter two didn't live up to the caliber of performances I saw the first time, but overall I had a very similar experience from the club. Their waitstaff was pretty on their toes and it seemed like people were having a good time. The food wasn't ridiculously expensive, but it wasn't a bargain either. Foe ex, desserts were over $10 I think. The club does draw big comedy stars and i like the table seating arrangement better than theater seating, but it is a hefty price per ticket for a budget conscious person like me. So if you don't mind the chomp on your wallet, def go and check it out.
Pros: beautiful club, great headliners
Cons: price

Comix is a great place for people who like comedy but hate the traditional comedy club vibe. The place is a lot more upscale looking and they have a great food menu (no chicken fingers or mozzarella sticks in sight). Ticket prices seem to be on par with other rooms in town that have good comedians. Sure it's going to cost you, but it's better to see some live entertainment with food and drinks than another lame movie.
Pros: no drink minimum! great food menu

This place is awesome. So much better than all the other comedy club's around. Very classy without being pretentious. the staff was friendly and the food was great. I saw danny bonoduce there this week and he was hysterical. can't wait to go back.
Pros: great comics (bonaduce!), excellent service, tasty food

i had a great time friday night at comix. all three comics were hysterical and they were great at involving the audience. the food and drinks were great too. i had the turkey sandwich which had a cranberry relish which was teh perfect compliment. the drinks are a bit pricy but I guess that's what you should expect in the meatpacking district.
Pros: greet food, top talent

my friend took me to comix last night to see caroline rhea. i hate the meatpacking district, but this place was great. wehn we walked in to get our tickets, caroline rhea was right there talking to the host. she was so funny and nice, we were laughing way before the show began. our waitress was nice. we hadn't realized the have a full dinner menu so we'd already eaten but we shared the cookie plate which was great (warm from the oven). the room was so warm and welcoming and their front bar was classy. I did have trouble finding the bathroom until someone directed me downstairs. they need some signs.

I went to Comicx on Tuesday for their weekly fresh meat show. A friend had recommended it, but I didn't really know what to expect. It was hysterical and not your typical comedy showcase. One comic did a reading on things guys have said to her after seex. So funny and so true! Then there was aguy who has written for the Daily Show and the Colbert Report. I was worried it was going to be a whole lot of amateurs on stage, but they got top people.
I also loved the apple martinis.
Pros: great sound system, friendly service

I thought this place was amazing. Way nicer inside than any other comedy club I have been too. Very classy - needs a bit more decorating as it seems a bit stark...it is pretty new though. Went to the Cartells show on Mon night - thought the show was very unique. Not your typical stand-up. Refreshing! We ate and drank - the food selection shocked us - not your typical comedy club fare and it actually tasted good too. I will be spreading the word to all of my friends - this place was fun!
Pros: Atmosphere, Comedy, Food

Went this past Saturday and I was expecting to have a great time. There were all of 12 people in a vast room, which felt pathetic. My friend and I had a miserable time and felt that it was a waste of an evening. It was also outragousely expensive for what you get!!!! As I look closer at these other positive reviews, they sound more like advertisements rather than actual reviews. (So I'm guessing there will be glowing reviews right after mine. Am I right????:) This place s*cks!!! Stay Away!!!
Pros: none!
Cons: EMPTY!!!, expensive

Attended a benefit here last night, hosted bt DMC of RUN DMC. It's unlike any comedy club I've ever been to - in fact, it looks and feels more like an upscale restaurant/nightclub then a comedy club. The crowd was HOT, the look of the place is HOT and very...now and elegant. The food was amazing, and not just based on comedy club standards! The comedy show itself had was hysterical, with many comedians I recognized from TV! Overall, I am glad I come to this benefit and discovered this club! I will be back very very soon!
Pros: Trendy Atmosphere, Great Food

We went to see Josh Blue, the winner of last comic standing last night. We really went to see him, not caring where he was performing - but - we couldn't help but be impressed by this new club. It's so happening that we couldn't believe this was a comedy club and not a trendy upscale nightclub or some kind of theater! I say theater, becasue the showroom is just that. It's not a typical ccomedy club room, but a theater with raised seating so you can eat and watch the show while maintaining a perfect view! The food was good too, not a 5 star restaurant, but for a comedy club it was GOOD! Josh Blue was great, and I've just bought tickets on their website to see Jon Lovitz in November! Looking forward to visiting this club again.
Pros: Great Comedy, Good Food, Theater Style Showroom

Me and several of my friends went to see Adele Givens this weekend, and on my way to the bathroon during the show I walked right into Russell Simmons! I knew the neighborhood was happening, but didn't realize the celebs come to comedy clubs! Maybe that's because this place is not your typical comedy club. First of all, it's really beautiful, very modern and trendy with no brick wall for a stage! Second, the food was fantastic! We had dinner reservations at Markt after the show, but after we saw the menu we decided to eat at Comix. The food tasted as good as it looked. Also, although I know this place just opened they really seem to have it together with customer service, our waitress was so sweet, not to mention the hostess that set us! Overall, this club is def. worth the visit!
Pros: Celeb sightings, food, decor

WE had a hard time getting through on the phone, as their phone system seemed to be uncoorperative, but we finally got through and actually ended up buying tickets on the web...I guess we were there their first weekend...we just wanted to see Bill Engvall. It was great and so was he. Then Ron White showed up too...he went up on stage too for a few minutes. We didn't realize the food was supposed to be so good, so we had already had dinner, but it all looked and smelled great. It seems like we were th only people that didn't get the 'great food' memo...It looks new and maybe a little stark, but really a beautiful club.
We are going back to see Kathleen Madigan in a few weeks, and this time will try the food!
Definitely check this place out!
Pros: great shows coming up
Cons: working out the kinks

Read aboyt this place in the paper and decided to check out the website. In the fist week of being open they've had everyone from David Spade, Sarah Silverman, Cedric The Entertainer and Jim Belushi to name a few! My wife is a fan of Mo'Nique so we choose that particular show. This club is not something to sneeze at. Looks like a whole lot of money was invested into this place, and looks like the investments is paying off. The place was jamming, cool people inside and outside, not really the usualt touristy comedy club crowd. The decor itself is beyond hot, and very up to date. We didn't have dinner, but heard people around us raving about the food, so must of been good. The showroom was packed, but the way it is set up, you have more then enought room to move around and don't feel like you're sitting in someones lap! The seats are also stadium like, so you are raised and can see perfectly. Pretty nice staff, although since we only saw the show and did not eat or drink in the showroom we didn't deal with any waiters. Overall, an awsome experience, and a whole different way to view comedy. Can't wait to see who they have next!
Pros: Headliners, Cool Crowd, Beautiful Place

Tried to get tickets to see David Spade and Sarah Silverman - impossible. Finally got tickets to see Jim Belushi on Sunday night, and it was an amazing show! Was totally blown away when I saw Dan Aykroyd in the audience, sort of completed the Belushi experience you can say. The place itself is impressive, huge showroom with raised seating so the view was great. Food was good, but I was too into the show to enjoy. Comix passed the test, I'll be bringing my girlfriends parents here in 2 weeks when they are here from Florida.
Pros: Jim Belushi & Dan Aykroyd in the same room!

Went to the grand oepning weekend with my girlfriends to see Mo'Nique. Heard a lot of hype about this place from the NY Post, and decided to give it a shot after being dissapointed with all the other comedy clubs in this city. (except Comedy Cellar of course, but you don't go there for the beautiful decor!) First of all I was impressed with the location, beautiful people and restaurants are everywhere you look! Comix itself fits it's surrounding perfectly. It's decor is simply beautiful, upsacle. modern withput being stuffy or cold. You feel impressed just walking through the doors! The staff could not be nicer, I don't know if this is because they are new and trying to impress, but I haven't seen that level of service in a while! Especially in a comedy club. Our hostess took the time out to find some great seats for us (after my girldfriend gushed it's always been her dream to see Mo'Nique live) and our waiter was at our beck and call the whole night! (yes, this is a place where it doesn't take 20 min just to find your waiter!) I was skeptical about the food (it is a comedy club!) so I ate before, my friends on the other hand were starving so they ordered. After taking a couple of bites of their food, I was searching the menu for something to order myself, it was that good! I wound up having dessert as well! Anyway, Mo'Nique was great can't wait to see her again! We had an amazing experience, and hope those guys can keep it up! If you love good comedy and are tired of the same old scene, check this place out!
Pros: Beautiful Decor, Hot Neighborhood, Awsome Service

This place is amazing! What a surprise! I have been to several comedy clubs in the city - many of them are in damp dingy basements serving barely edible finger foods. Comix is beautifully designed - a very chic and upscale decor, amazing main bar, cozy and comfortable lounge bar and an absolutely amazing showroom. I have to say that there is not one bad seat in the house. No matter where you sit, the view is fantastic. Not only was I wowed by the space but the menu and the food was incredible. I had crab cakes which were out of this world and tuna that was cooked to perfection. Completely different that any other comedy club dining experience I have ever had. And the staff, they were so attentive and so welcoming! Now onto the talent - WOW is all I can say. Not only does Comix have big name comedians but they also had some big name stars drop by when I was there. This place really knocked my socks off - I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great evening in NYC.
Pros: Great atmosphere, food, service and talent!

We couldn't decide whether to see Cedric the Entertainer or Mo'Nique since they were both performing on the same night (thought that was crazy to have 2 big strars on the same night) so we decided to get tickets for both. Right away we were impressed that there were no drink minimums! That's right, a comedy club with NO drink minimums! The food wasn't dirt cheap, but it was fair, we kept to the cheaper items on the menu and they were good. Waitstaff was very attractive so I expected an attitude, (it is the meatpacking district after all) but got none. Our waitress couldn't have been nicer and was always around. The bartenders were great too, and didn't make you feel like an idiot waiting to get a drink. Both shows were off the hook, and we were happy we got to see them both.
Pros: No Drink Minimum, Service, Talent

After attending their opening weekend, we were highly disappointed in our experience at this new club. We realize they still need time to work things out, but they have a VERY long way to go. When we arrived there was confusion at check-in - it seemed like one or two parties were holding everything up - but why not take them aside and let the rest of us in versus stand in an area like herded animals? The decor seems like they put a lot of money into it but it feels completely over designed and thus, cold. The waitress told us that many customers expressed the same opinion. We were anxious to see a good show (because the ticket price was SO HIGH) but we (and the audience) werent into it at all, to the point of that awkward feeling among audience members for not laughing. The drunk guy chatting loudly at his table didnt help matters, but we (and others) were surprised that no one on the staff seemed to address it. Maybe this space would be better as a dance club, but for stand up comedy in Manhattan, it doesnt feel right, it feels like a big fish out of water.
Pros: Near subway, clean
Cons: EXPENSIVE, Comedians, Over Designed
