Great info here especially for those on their first visit to Napa valley...Personally I find it a bit pricey but again is very informative! I would take out of towners.

For anyone coming to Napa, Copia is a great place to start your journey. They offer an overview of the wonderful world of viticulture and winemaking, starting with the displays in the parking lot showing the soil composition of the various apellations in the valley. What's an apellation? Step inside Copia (admission is free at this season), and your world will expand in a most enjoyable way. You might want to take Winetasting 101, where you will be introduced and taste (!) all those terms that describe wine tastes and smells - what to look for, smell, taste. Dine at Julia's Restaurant, and have a superb meal. On Friday nights, enjoy a vintage film, and a complimentary wine tasting to complement the film. Copia is a wonderful place - and don't forget to tour the gardens!
