Message from Fin Chinese Cuisine @ The Mirage

Walking a fine line between edgy and elegant, Yabu Pushelberg of Toronto, the project's award winning design team, artfully reconciles opposites. The restaurant follows the firm's commitment to experimenting with materials, processes and ideas. The glow of rich woodtones and the sheen of fine fabrics complements the playful use of arresting vistas, bringing a sense of elegance and serenity.

The Scene
Citysearch users describe Fin saying the "setting is serene" and "peaceful", while the "service was impeccable." Hand-painted silk wallpaper in shades of gold and emerald decorates the intimate 20-table dining area. Glass spheres hanging from the ceiling and a trickling fountain add to the elegant atmosphere.

The Food
Chef Chi Choi's menu includes inexpensive appetizers such as crispy fried shiitake mushrooms, mid-range meals such as Mongolian beef, and ultra high-end dishes like braised whole Japanese abalone with vegetables. The wealth of live seafood options can be prepared steamed, wok-fried, or braised. One reader says, the live Santa Barbara sweet shrimp sashimi "was amazing," and that everything they ordered "was so good that we kept ordering more." Another, however, was disappointed by the sparse lunch selections.

The Inside Scoop

Good food!

by becca o. | top100 Top100 | Rank: 46

The food here is great- it's nice to come to a quiet, peaceful restaurant in the middle of a casino. I had some amazingly flavorful Indonesian noodles. They were perfect- nice and coconutty. Definitely check this place out!

Great place

by Dawn P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,158

Fin Chinese Cuisine is a great place to dine when staying at the Mirage. The chefs there prepare your food like nothing you have ever seen or tasted. We make sure to hit this place every time we are in town.

Elegant reprieve from crazy casino world

by ROCKALUM

I thought our service at Fin was impecable! The food was well presented and delicious. The wait staff really showed an interest in my party, which is hard to find sometimes in Vegas. My father accidently spilled someting on his shirt, and they quickly ran to the kitchen to bring us some soda water. Very much appreciated.

The comp desert was also delightful, a light fortune cookie with a kahulua and cream drink in small glass. Lovely way to end a perfect dinner.

Will definitely go back on future visits to the Strip!

Pros: Lovely service and presentation

Sophisticated chinese food with amazing atmosphere and stellar service

by tamekin

The service was friendly, informative and considerate, the decor is elegant and intimate, i couldn't get over how calm and peaceful it was to have dinner in a casino restaurant. Now to the food, had the shark fin soup which is their specialty and the Live Santa Barbara sweet shrimp sashimi and steamed, was amazing, everything we ordered was so good that we kept ordering more. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are with a bunch of foodies who especially like all types of asian food, you will not be disappointed. From atmosphere, to promptness in seating, to service and food, Fin brings them all together to make your dining experience perfect in all categories.

Pros: atmosphere, food, service, promptness in seating

Cons: wine list

Do not go here for lunch!

by crystalvinnie

We went here thinking it should be a great restaurant, and the outdoor menu was blocked by other people and we were too impatient to wait, but once we were seated and got our menus, we saw there was hardly any selection on their lunch menu. My husband got a meal that cost just as much as mine, but was really just a lot of pasta with hardly any meat in it, and he hated it. We told the waitress we were not happy about it, and there was no offer of a replacement or the meal being taken off the bill despite the fact that my husband took about one bite and then shared my meal with me. Very dissatisfying, though I must say it was beautifully decorated.

Pros: decor was fantastic, very peaceful atmosphere

Cons: bad quantity of food, poor service

Best chinese and great break from casino atmosphere

by torymk

The setting is serene and you'll forget the hussel and bussel outside. This is place to only eat but to dine. Fabulouse fresh food at a wide range of prices. Best Chinese food I've ever had. Get the potstickers and the fortune cookie is crisp and freshly made. The service was prompt and unobtrusive but friendly.

Elegant addition to Mirage dining

by ckofahl

Service at this restaurant was impeccable. We were served by nearly four servers yet the service was inobtrusive and polite. Fin's menu really did a good job of hitting a wide range of desires (traditional stir fry type dishes as well as exotic seafood preparations) and a wide range of price points ($15 for a gourmet Kung Po Shrimp to $200 for certain rare whole fish which we did not order). The space is very modern day elegant and romantic. The casino is right outside the veiled walls yet the space is peaceful.

Pros: Tranquil, Effecient service
