I had been invited to have lunch at Metro pizza with a friend who just raves about it. Apparently my friend doesn't know good pizza. A good pizza is the right combination of all of the ingredients. This place did not have any. The pizza dough was dry and spongy. The toppings were acme food supply staples. The service was adequate but nothing to write home about. Quality is one step above frozen pizza.
Considering all its accolades, I was not wowed by the pizza at Metro. I can name dozens of places I've been to with better pizza. Price and bad service by employees who appear to be CCSN rejects doesn't help either, but the atmosphere was nice.
PROS: Atmosphere
CONS: Service, price
Every time President Bush comes to town he orders a bunch of pizzas for Air Force One. I, personally, don't like the pizza so much as I like other items on the menu like the atomic fries. I think the pizza is too sloppy -- the kind that the toppings fall off if you pick it up with one hand. Yes, I could eat it with a fork, but I think that takes away from the pizza experience. The restaurant is clean and comfortable, however, so I would recommend the pizza joint.
They have great food; horrible customer service. Free bread to settle your stomach while you wait and you can ask for oil and vinegar and fresh chopped garlic instead of the butter. Great place to hang out and they have tons of specials including 50% off on certain days if your name is ______. Firemen and police men specials too!
PROS:
CONS: customer service
The pizzas are really really good. We get the modesto which is always delicious. The service is horrible however and makes us want to get up to get our own refills! We usually have large parties of 10 or more that come with us and we all share. The food is consistantly of good quality and we always leave happy and full.
Metro Pizza is home to some of the best pizza in Vegas. They make their pizzas with good fresh ingredients so it tastes good. They have been making pizza for a long time so they know what they are doing. It has been a favorite for locals and has been voted best pizza many times. You should go and try it!
I love how they roast their mushrooms! I've been eating at Metro for 23 years! The Flam/Dec store brings me back to my childhood and the new stores are beautiful! LOVE their pizza and calzones!!! Sliced meatball and mushroom pizza is delicious!!! : )
Pros: GREAT Pizza!
Don't even get me started on the service at the Trop location!! I notice that they seem to cater to certain types of people more than others. Bottom line, the pizza is not good. Way to expensive and overrated. Their "meat lovers' pizza is disgusting, and they use the grossest cheese. They hardly put any sauce on the pizza, and the dough is sugary and weird. I always take my business elsewhere.
I don't mind paying for a good meal, and the pizza is good, but this place sours the experience in other ways, esp. customer service. It's like a factory. They are terrible on the phone and not much better in person. I live 3.5 miles away and they wanted to charge me $5 for delivery'; and if you use a credit/debit card... oh boy... that's another $2 charge. A large, cheese pizza (no topping!) and spaghetti w/meatballs came to $47. Forget tipping, and ... I lost my appetite. It's not even fine dining. Metro is a stressful experience, so why bother.
Pros: Can't think of any. Makes me wish that Dal' Italia was open later on Sundays.
Cons: The service, hype, and expense spoil the taste of the pizza. No pizza worth that to me.
Metro makes a solid pie. Tried it in a couple of their locations & the quality was consistent. Outside of Villa-instant replay, Metro is the best the valley has to offer
On Sunday 2/24/2008, my family and I ( me Mexican my husband Black) dicided to eat in one of the best pizza places in Las Vegas. My husband suggested Metro pizza because he had read in a local news paper that they where the best. When we arrived we the hostess asked how many , I told her 5, 2 adults and 3 kids. She stated for a party of 5 is about a 20-30 minute wait. We said fine. after 20 minutes another familial of five ( all white) the hostess asked how many, The woman said 5, 2 adults to and 3 kids. the host asked name the woman said Niry. 5 minutes later while looking at the menu I here Niry party of five. your table is ready. I was shocked and said excuse me we have been waiting for 20 minutes. and we are a party of five. The could not even explain her self. I guess in in the best racism is still a factor.
Pros: none
Cons: none
$3 for delivery, $2 for using a credit card. They're not good enough to justify that. I'm ordering Round Table.
We ate at the one on Decatur in Las Vegas since it was the closest to my home in North Las Vegas. I was told by a friend to try it that it has the best pizza in town. The service was awful and so was the pizza. Ordered a stuffed crust meat lovers pizza($26.00) had no sauce!! When we got there they seated us in this other section and forgot about us. When they brought out the pizza and asked about the sauce they said nothing just came back with a bowel of meat sauce for us to put on top of the pizza. How do you forget the SAUCE on a pizza? How this crappy pizza joint won best pizza is beyond me. Told my friend about it he said I need to try the one in Henderson. Not sure I want to subject myself to that again. We only had 3 pieces of the pizza and wound up giving the rest away to a homeless person almost felt sorry to give him that awful pizza maybe I will try to find him and go buy him a burger. The people who gave better review must have eaten at the Henderson location or else their tastebuds are dead and they have no idea what good service is. Prices are expensive!! Do yourself a favor and find another pizza joint to eat at!!!
Pros: NONE
Cons: everything!!
I LOVE this place! The majority of the servers are wonderful but the food is even better! From the delicious homemade warm bread and butter you begin with to whatever else you decide to order, it's one of the last great casual fun places to enjoy a meal with friends and family. It's rare that any place can avoid having an off night from time to time -which is what must have happened if your experience wasn't positive, however the salads are generous and fresh, the pizza is delicious and the sandwiches are great as well. No place can be truly judged by someone taking food to go -as it is not a true indication of the restaurant, but while I'm taking it to go tonight, we ate in the other night and everything was fantastic. If you know how to relax, enjoy yourself and have a nice casual meal -this is a wonderful place to go. -and the coffee (decaf or regular) is excellent!!!
Pros: It's casual -if you're not looking for casual family style dining, go elsewhere
Cons: Parents that don't know how to control their bratty kids
This selection was a mistake. The woman on the phone seemed bothered by my call - and even more bothered to take my order. We called early thinking we could beat the dinner crowd and also made after-dinner plans. At 4:45pm we were told one hour. One hour, 40 mins later and a phone call to complain about how long it was taking (she said they had taken too many orders and mine was not the only one) still nothing. Nearly two hours later, we finally had our greasy pizza, a hungry family and screwed up after-dinner plans.
I had read some of the reviews from citysearch, but despite the negative reviews, I went to their website and ordered from there anyway. BIG MISTAKE.
NICE PLACE THATS ABOUT IT WORST SERVICE, TOO EXSPENSIVE, FOOD IS SUB PAR. GUESS YOU CAN BUILD ANYTHING IF YOU HAVE MONEY. FOR METRO BEING IN BUSINESS AS LONG AS THEY HAVE THEY SHOULD GET BETTER WITH AGE NICE TRY GUYS BUT NO STARS FROM ME.
Pros: GREAT PLACE
Cons: BAD FOOD, SERVICE AND PRICE
Lady on the phone asked me twice what kind of sauce I wanted. I specified but also asked why they don't just put it on top. Brought home pizza with no sauce at all. Called them, sat on hold, got hung up on. Called them again, sat on hold for a LONG time and was offered to drive back there to get sauce. This is a mix of bad business practice with bad customer service as a follow up. Apply crucial ingredients directly to the food product, not on the side.
Best pizza in town and you can have a pitcher of beer which enjoying it. Also great sandwiches, salads and pasta on the menu.
Pros: great pizza
Cons: little spendy/usually have to wait
If your looking for great tasting pizza at affordable prices then Metro Pizza is for you! I have been eating there for about 15 years now and nothing has changed. Their stuffed pizzas are what I recomend the meat sauce tastes just like homemade
Sooner or later you'll be looking for some regular place to take the family out when in Vegas. Metro is an outstanding choice. It is a few miles off the stip down Tropicana and you feel like you've left sin city and you are in a nice family restaurant. The pizza is outstanding as is the service. They also have more tables than any pizzaria that I've ever been to. They've been doing it for years. Look out for long lines on weekends though. The secret is out now!
Pros: Outstanding ingredients, pizza lovers will be pleased
Cons: Ovens are close to some tables and can get a little warm there sometimes
THE SERVICE WAS GOOD, THE PIZZA I THOUGHT WAS TOO GREASY. MY DAUGHTER FOUND A HAIR UNDER THE CHEESE, SHE TOLD THE MANAGER WHO CALLED THE WAITRESS, THEY LOOKED AT THE SLICE AND TOOK IT AWAY WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING, NO APOLOGIES OR NOTHING. WE WERE NOT LOOKING FOR ANYTHING FREE, BUT AN APOLOGY WOULD HAVE BEEN IN ORDER. THERE WERE 9 PEOPLE IN OUR PARTY CELEBRATING TWO OF OUR KIDS GRADUATION.
Pros: NICELY DECORATED, GOOD SERVICE
Cons: HAIR IN PIZZA
I so want to recommend this place to friends because when it is godd it is awsome, but I can't because the Pizza varies so much from awsome to (once in a while) almost awful. It is hard to believe that one kitchen could vary THIS much from week to week. I DO agree with the poster who said DO NOT DO TAKE OUT PIZZA HERE...Their Take out Pizza has ALWAYS been below par for us (around 9 times before we gave up on their take out Pizza although we still go for dine in occasionally since we can easily ask for a do over).
Metro's other food may be great, but I'll never know. The first time I went there, I ordered a Stockyard (stuffed meat pizza). I subscribe to the theory that if it belongs in a salad bar, it doesn't belong on my pizza. The Stockyard is the best pizza I had ever eaten! Now, whenever I am in Vegas, Metro is a MUST DO!
We love Metro pizza's food but after innumerable times of ordering food and having it done worng we finally gave up. Go elsewhere for good pizza done right!
Pros: food
Cons: bad service
I've been visiting Las Vegas on a regular basis from the midwest for the last 8 yrs and looked for good pizza. Metro on E. Tropicana Ave has it. It may seem pricey to some, but you get more food for your dollar than you will on the Vegas Strip. If they made a mistake with our order, they quickly corrected it and made it right by us. When I'm in Vegas, I make sure to stop at least once to get some pizza, it is definetly worth it.
Pros: Traditional Pizza, Chicago Style, New York Style
Cons: parking is limited, service hit/miss
Metro Pizza is a favorite for our family of six. Our four children beg to go there not only for the great tasting pizza but also for the family friendly atmosphere. The staff brings the kids pizza dough to play with while you wait for your order and that scored big points with ours. We don't hesitate when our kids want Metro because their stuffed pizza is phenomenal!
Pros: family friendly, great pizza, snacks while you wait
Cons: parking, busy
Best pizza in Vegas! Been going there for years. The salads are great, too. So is the bread!
Pros: Service, Quality, Left-overs
Cons: Parking
The pizza is overrated AND overpriced but fairly eatable. The other food is NOT and is as italian as Chef Boyardee. I know we're in Vegas but come on! Their sauce is just onions and tomato paste.
Pros: NY Decor
Cons: , Bad Marinara, Loud & Crowded
Having moved from Chicago, and being used to good Chicago pizza, I was disappointed time after time in finding a pizza that I'd even consider edible. I almost resigned myself to going without until I had a Metro pizza; the closest thing to an authentic Chicago pizza. It's the only pizza I'll eat. Delicious!
Pros: Great taste
Cons: Expensive
This pizza place has won me over. I am a pizza nut and consider myself as a pizza expert. The thick yeasty crust .... the sweet and spicy sauce ... and just enough cheese without over doing it ... PERFECTION!! When in Las Vegas i will always visit this place and so will you after eating here.
There are a lot of good pizzas and a lot of very good pizzas, but to learn which pizza is the best you have to eat at Metro.
Pros: Great Pizza, Very good service
Cons: Parking, Server Uniforms
I've been out West since the mid 70s, and Metro Pizza is a great reminder of East Coast pizza. It has the same great tasting thin crust with lots and lots of toppings. (unlike most pizzarias)
Thanks Metro, see you again soon!
Pros: friendly, specials available, good music
Great pizza!! Probably because the owners are originally from New York where you can find great pizza on almost every corner. Metro makes excellent calzones as well.
It may not be Chicago style pizza, but it isn't too bad. We couldn't exactly pinpoint what we liked about it, but I think it was the combination of the sauce and the crust. It was not the best pizza we EVER had, but it is the best we have had in Las Vegas and we would definately recommend it to you. The waitress was an older woman who was funny, happy to be there, and got you in and out- she was the best!
Average pie, avergae restaurant. Below average service every time I have visited.
Great - next to Chicago, Illinois - Best in Las Vegas - they need to open more outlets
Goog quality good ingredients hot from the oven nice size
Discovered Metro Pizza over a decade ago when we first moved to Las Vegas. Small-town friendly in a city where bad service (or jaded, anti-tourist staff) can sometimes make you feel completely anonymous. The consistently great food is the best part! Highly recommended, very kid-friendly, too.
Pros: Friendly service, Great food
Terrific place for pizza in a casual setting with very attentive service.
