I really like Tonic East, my friend had her birthday there and honestly it was awesome. The food was great, and the service couldn't have been better. Attentive and friendly! I recommend this to anyone looking to have a goodtime in a fun NYC bar.

Pros: service, food, and drinks

When I first went here I was very surprised at the wonderful atmosphere and the service was great too. The food was good and the music that is playing is not too loud so that you can't hear yourself think. I would definitely go here again and it is good for the NYU and Bellevue workers to take a load off and relax! Great hangout place.

the "tonic" logo - i.e., the bar's name strewn across the side of the building - lead me to believe that behind once inside, i'd hear nothing but the "untz-untz" pounding of dance music while being approached by mobs of drunk 20-something males. but its worth giving the place a chance. head straight to the rooftop and grab a table close to the railing - a setting where you can enjoy great views of two nyc landmarks (chrysler and empire state buildings), prompt and friendly service, and a relatively enjoyable atmosphere. ...of course, if you prefer being shoulder-to-shoulder while watching madonna's music videos on big screens and listening to pick-up lines, then the first floor will distract you 'till the wee morning hours. either way, don't write the place off just yet.

Pros: rooftop

Have been here a few times. Draws big singles scene. Very busy bar. Appetizers are amazing and affordably priced. Drinks are well mixed. For dining, the staff does not hover but are around when you need them.

Good place to watch any sporting event. Solid staff and decent prices. It is more fun if you go with a group.

Pros: TVs. staff. location

Cons: can get crowded

I've been to this place twice, once when it was super crowded and the bartender TOOK MY CHANGE! He didn't give me the option to tip, he was taking everyone's change. Then when I asked for it back he gave me a snotty attitude.

The 2nd time I went it was in the afternoon and it was cool, but they can not make strawberry daiquiri's..they were absolutely gross. When I told the waitress, you would think she would take it back (nope).

So in my opinion...stick to the beer, make sure you get change. It's a decent place to watch a game though (if there isn't a crowd). I think they need to improve on their staff though (not a fan).

Went there after work with a big group and had a blast on the rooftop deck. There are a lot of tables in the way, but they clear them out of the middle once it gets a litle crowded. If you get there early, you can snag a primo table overlooking the Empire State Bld. and third ave. The only con of the upstairs is that there are no speakers, so you can't hear the game that your viewing on any 3 of the flatscreens that are up there, or listen to any music while you eat/drink.
The servers are all awesome. Very friendly and accomadating. There's no feeling like they're doing a favor for you like other places. The food is pretty good as well and presented better than you'd expect from a bar. We got Tater Tots and sliders.
The 2 levels downstairs are also good hangout areas. The ceilings on the first floor are very high so you get an open air feeling even though the width of the bar isn't too great. The overall decor of the place is very modern (mini tv's at every urinal), but it works well.
We liked the place so much that we came back the next nigth to watch the DeLaHoya/Maywether fight. It was a lot more packed, but a lot of fun.

Went to this bar for the fight Saturday night and it was crazy busy!!! Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut considering how busy it was our server Lindy was amazing. She fought through the crowd and was SUPER attentive!!! She even chatted and joked around with us, which made the drinking expiernce soooo much better! We all said would be back to see her busy night or not! Oh and we cant forget the good food, mac and cheese and tots!!!

I really like the three tier bar in tonic east. For some reason the bottom floor is too packed but the third floor, with the view, is really cool and chill. The drinks were reasonable and the bartenders were attentive and quick. But the music...Ricky Martin? and La Bouche? I mean, I like throwbacks but c'mon. Maybe it was an off night but on a friday night I expected better. I'll plan on going back for all the other reasons but hoping for better music.

Pros: fast bartenders, three floors of space

went there for st. paddys around midnight as one of our stops on a pub crawl. We were going to leave because downstairs was packed and there was no place to sit. But my friend had to use the bathroom so we went upstairs since there was too many people to go down. The moment we got up there 2 of the bartenders asked me what I wanted. So I ordered a drink since I was waiting anyway. We ended up staying for over 2 hours. Turned out to be really fun. Even the staff dances and has fun. I dont know if I would go back since its a little too young for me but it was a great stop on St. Paddys, maybe to watch a game or something. The only complaint was the prices. I get 8 dollars for a kettle and tonic but a bud draft is like 7 bucks and thats just a rip off. Even so, its worth checking out once.

I celebrated my birthday at Tonic and I had a blast. A whole bunch of my buddies and I came in and I was given a free bottle of champagne since it was my birthday. How sweet is that? The place had cool music so what could be better? Having sports on the screens, drinking with my buds, hangin with some cute girls, cheap shots...happy birthday to me! People should definitely check this place out...good place to celebrate a birthday for sure!

This is the first time I've been compelled to write a review. Tonic was packed, played decent music (albeit on repeat--about a six song cycle). But nothing could infuriate me more than retrieving my coat from the coat check (for which I paid) only to find it covered in dirt. Not just a small spot or stain. My coat looked like someone had thrown it in a dumpster, only to retrieve it a week later. I don't understand--they hang the coats in the stairwell between the second and third floor. How does this hapen? This really wasn't my scene, but the added insult of having my coat ruined will keep me away. And before you ask, I was exceedingly polite to the staff and tipped them all. Maybe management could see to it they have a clean place to store their customers' things?

This is the first place I go to when I watch a game. There are so many TV's and screens...you can also watch many different games at once. This is the place to go if you want to just sit around watching sports, enjoy some beers and eat some pub food. The wings and burgers are really good. The best part was the mini-kegs! It's really convenient to have rather than constantly ordering beers. Our waitress would re-fill the keg and we would just keep refilling our pints.

I went to Tonic after work with a bunch of my colleagues. Tonic has great drink specials! The staff was really friendly...great to chat with and always ready to serve my next drink. The bartender made me the best apple martini! Great place to go after work and we would definitely go there again!

Pros: Drink Specials, Friendly Staff

The DJ was great (although I don't think there was a need for his own personal body guard) with coordinating music videos. He played old school hits and today's top ten. The place was crowded but not ridiculous. There was a VIP area but I truly don't believe anyone VIP-worthy was up there.

It reminds me of a SF bar--big screen TV's, Pub-like vibe. The food is classic pub fare, the drinks are good and the big screen TV's make it a good game spot. I wouldn't plan a party here but a HH? Why not?

Man, I remember watching construction of the building and hoping it was a bar. I was pretty psyched when I saw it was going to be a huge bar. I live right around the corner and the area needs a good spot to watch all the NFL games on Sunday. Unfortunately they dropped the ball when they designed the layout. I was in there this past Sunday to watch a particular out of town game. Too bad the only TV it was on was stuck on the 2nd floor all the way towards 3rd Ave. The two booths that actually had a view of the TV were occupied. That was the only way to see that TV, other than standing in front of the booths. Don't waste your time going in on Sunday afternoon, head uptown to 515 or Mercury Bar where you can stay in one area and see every game, or even the game you came to watch!

Me and my friends go to Tonic quite often, and quite often it's the same old sh**, same overcrowded weekend hotspot, same music videos that make you feel like the DJ hits the repeat button by accident far too often. The music is usually too loud, the murray hill crowd is too corny (even though I'm one myself now), and it's just that it was a fun, new, exciting atmosphere, and anyone who goes their will love it until they realize that it's deja vu everytime you step foot inside Tonic. But it's definetly no bar like it in the area, always decent food, massive TVs everywhere you look, and it's nice to see familiar faces pouring and serving drinks. Most of the staff is pretty friendly, attentive, and some actually seem genuine.

It's the murray hill hotspot that is becoming played out quick, but me and my friends always end up there grabbing booth or sitting at the bar a couple nights a week. Because it's consistent and you know you'll get......which is decent affordable food/drinks, something to watch on TV, a list of songs you can perfectly lipsink, extremely comfortable seats, and good quallity service.

Went there on a Sunday evening with my girlfriend for dinner. The food is good and reasonably priced. Compared to the Tonic Midtown where the beers are ridiculously priced ($6 for a domestic bottle), these are in line $5 for a 16 oz Coors Light bottle. The staff is friendly although they will not be applying for jobs at NASA any time soon. It looks the same as Tonic West, 3 levels, lots of TV's, booths, etc, except that the top level here is a rooftop. Overall, we had a good time.

I live in the MH/Grammercy area and I've been to this place a couple of times since it opened. It is almost always crowded, sometimes too much so. The drinks are relatively cheap and good and the food is surprisingly good. For a bar, the food is awesome. I went the other night with a few girlfriends and we split the mini burgers and they were so good we ordered more food. I didn't know they really had food, when you walk in it seems like just a bar/club. We shared the calamari salad and steak wrap with tater tots. OMG, the tater tots brought us back to middle school. The only bad part was that our server was a complete airhead: not the sharpest tool in the shed. She totally messed up our drink order, i wanted gin and tonic and she brought vodka and sprite, who drinks that? and she brought us food that belonged to the table next to us. The guy at the next table had to correct her. Anyway, airhead aside the food was so good we'll most def come back.

I have been to Tonic East with my girlfriends a few times since it opened and we have always had a geat time. (It was crazy during the World Cup!) All of the food and drinks have been great...especially love the desserts!!! (the Nutella sandwich thingy with ice cream is yummy) The only problem that we have had is this idiot guy who walks around moving tables and staring at people. He seems to yell at the girls that work there and gives everyone, including customers, dirty looks!!! I don't know who he is or if he even works there! Taking him out of the picture, Tonic East is definitely our favorite new bar of the summer!!!

Good atmophere, average NY drink prices, and at least 1 TV per person. The roof deck was nice, though we could not get a drink up there. All the music in the first floor was accompanied with its video -- I had not seen a Bel Biv Devoe video for at least ten years until last night.

Say what you want about Tonic East and the Murray Hill clientele that go here. But I have had both their regular burger and their mini burgers and I have to say that Tonic East has one of the best burgers in the city. I am a burger connoisseur and have had all top burgers in the citythese burgers are right up there with the best. They are juicy, tasty, and come on a good brioche roll. Unfortunately, the fries that come with it are boring shoestring style and cant compare to the burger. They also have a pretty good beer selection and lots of plasmas & projection TVs to watch the game.

I live in Murray Hill and have been to Tonic East a couple of times. The food is very good, with a nice asian twist. The service was great! Eventhough the waitresses had to work in a fully-packed bar, they managed to keep a smile on their faces, while assisting customers. I recommend this bar to anyone who enjoys a good social scene, cute waitresses, and sports.

I have been living in the neighborhood for 5 years and have been a regular at banc and 515 for all that time. Like a lot of Murry Hill I wasnt too happy at another bar opening esp to the magnatude of tonic but on tuesday me and a few friends decided to check it out anyway. Turns out it was a really fun place. The tvs are great. Great place to watch the world series in spring- they even have them in the bathroom. The barstaff is great. Alison (who hates the name Ali and loves New Jersey) and Nyll are on game making sure your drink is full and like to chit chat which makes the place seem less overwhelming and pretentious. The only cons: the music was a little too loud and a little to Z100 for my taste and the food is only good if you take it for what it is: a bar. So eat the nachos and burgers, stay away from the "satay" which is 9 bucks for a morsal of chicken with stringy carrots. Also gets PACKED on the weekends so the off days are def a better bet. Either way its worth going to have a beer at.

No cover charge and great music, but that's about where this place peaks. It's waaaay too crowded ( it feels like they keep letting people in, even after there is absolutely nowhere to walk- we were packed in like sardines) drinks are regularly priced but incredibly watered down, the waiters/bartenders are VERY rude and this place could use a dance floor. There are so many other places in the city that have the same feel but better service. I WOULD NOT recomment this place to any of my friends.

Pros: good music. nice ambiance

Cons: horrible drinks, rude waiters/bartenders, too crowded

.

Definetly the most well rounded sports bar in the area. Massive flat screens layed out for a view in any spot, comfortable seats, with a good ability to go from sports atmosphere to top 40 music with an attractive well rounded scene of locals. It has an upscale feel, but casual atmosphere due to it's Irish influence. Also has great menu with a fantastic variety of food was way above the normal bar tastings. They offer a gorgeous roof top dining area, but service tends to be slow, and overall service throughout the bartenders and waitstaff is very selective.
This newly opened spot has an abundance of potential and quickly gaining a large following

Pros: Sports, after work, singles or groups

Cons: Slow roof top service, general abscence of standard amenities probably due to new opening
