Where do I start. I booked a spa party here, on a whim. The website looked elegant and the deposit was $50. I called to book, and did my deposit over the phone without seeing the spa (BAD DECISION). Went in to sign the contracts and saw the place for the first time. It looked like a rundown apartment, with bogus paneling, kitchen tables and worn out spa chairs. The pedicure tubs were actually over-sized mixing bowl and large stewing pots! Just terrible.

I immediately wanted to cancel my reservation, but was informed that the deposit was not refundable, even though I did it over the phone without viewing the premises. I felt as though their website was false advertising. Well, I asked to speak to the owner and she was nice...we talked and she made me feel more comfortable about the spa, the condition it would be in that day and the quality of the services I would receive. At that point, I signed the contract, which basically said that if someone in your "party" cancels you'll be held responsible for the amount of their service.. I didn't like this clause and the owner waived it for me.

Okay so the day of the spa party arrives, it was supposed to start at 12pm, I was running late, as well as four other people, but one of my friends had arrived. There was too ghetto looking girls there who the owner claimed were a nail technician and massage therapist. Both were not dressed properly. The nail tech looked like she just jumped out the bed without even washing up. The "massage therapist" had a nasty attitude and kept saying what she was not going to do.

When you expect to come to a business and you're a paying customer, the first thing that you do not want to hear is "I'm not doing that" or "That'll take too long."

The mixing bowls came back out and that was where we had our feet done in. The nail tech painted our nails like she had arthritis. My 4 year old could of did better. And the prices were 20% more than a regular nail salon. It' was super overpriced to be soaking my feet in a mixing bowl, while looking at a dirty girl in a worn out massage chair in a room that dub as a crack house.

At the end of the day, had I checked the reviews on this place instead of going by the "website" photos-- I would have never, ever, ever, ever spent my money here. I will never go back. Just horrible.

As an employee at S.O.S I just wanted to say that I love working at the spa, It is a very comfortable and friendly place to work, and also a great place to come and get services done on my days off! I would recomend the spa to everyone. They offer a variety of services, And we also have a great staff to preform each service at a proffesional and friendly level at the same time. You feel like family here and we treat all of our customers like you are family! It is very clean and sanitary, But yet relaxing and calm. Again I would recomend coming in to enjoy a day or even an hour at the spa to see for yourself!

I cannot thank you enough for the great experience I had at sense of serenity. I was having a horrible day and everyone was having such a great time and laughing by the time i left not only did i look great but i felt amazing and my horrible day was in the past. Thank you for making my day so much better. This spa is not a typical spa, it is a place to share. Enter as strangers leave as friends i know is your motto but it couldnt be more perfect for your business. Thanks again for everything!!!!!

They made us feel like we were at home and the atmoshere was calming and comfortable. We were able to bring in our music and food. The massage therapist was so nice and the nail services were awesome!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, Sense of Serenity needs to change the name of the place. There was nothing serene, relaxing, or calm about the joint. In an attempt to find a spa in the south suburbs where my mom lives, instead of trekking downtown, I stumbled upon this place. One good thing I can write is that the website is beautiful and well done. It does not truthfully represent the place. It is the most unprofessional establishment I have ever been in. The workers come in at any given hour (late for my appts), wearing their street clothes (no type of uniform, apron, lab coat, etc.). They sit in the lobby and loudly discuss their personal lives. The services that my mom and I signed up for were massages and pedicures. We could not receive these services at the same time, nor interchangeably. There seemed to be only one person for each service they offer. I waited the 30 mins for my mom's massage to be completed before getting mine. You'd think that when my massage began, her pedicure would be initiated, right? No. The pedicurist was running late. Meanwhile the manager started my mom's pedicure, sitting on the floor with a thong, with most of her behind hanging out. Who doesn't feel a draft? Anyway, I once again waited until my mom's pedicure was completely finished before starting mine. Furthermore, in the time I waited before my massage, I inquired about the placement of eyelashes. I was told by the receptionist that the massage therapist was the only one who performed this service, and she was booked. Following my massage (while waiting for my pedicure), the massage therapist hung out in the main seating/pedicure/ manicure area talking to the rest of the staff, cutting out school pictures of her kids, walking to the gas station to get snacks, etc. This place was an utter mess, that tends to get the business of locals and/or personal acquaintances. They have no idea how to professionally run a business, nor an idea of what the name of the place implies.

I drove by and noticed a permanent hair removal banner. I called the # and made an appointment. She told me she was located in the Sense of Serenity building. I received a consultation which was very informative and learned things I did not know and decided to take a treatment. It wasn't nearly as painful as advertising makes it out to be. Don't get me wrong, it's not like getting a massage, but it is bearable and so worth it! I've been going for a couple of months now and have noticed a huge difference! I am very pleased with the results and the woman is extremely friendly and very accomodating.
Not only do they have pemanent hair removal, they have every other service you can possibly think of! I have not had any other services there yet, but do plan on it. The people are very friendly there.

First off -I don't know who is reviewing this place -(which is adjoining a liquor store), but as soon as I walked in I wanted to leave. Discusting place! Dirty and cluttered -not calm at all! Cobwebs everywhere -I didn't even want to take my clothes off so I canceled some of my services. Since I was there with some other ladies I stayed (we reserved it for the morning -but they still took walk-ins! -they got us for our $50!). After my treatment I looked at their products Most were in unmarked containers but one product used for my 'mint mask' was Queen Mint Julep -I can get that at Walgreens for $3!!!!

I have been going to Sense of Serenity since it opened a few years ago. Since then they've had to move to a larger place due to growth and it's really beautiful (and so is the service!)

When you enter, you automatically de-stress -- you go down a few levels just upon walking in. It's like a mini-vacation! Which is why I'm saddened when I read that another reviewer rated her experience as 'stressful'.. I must completely disagree. As a long time customer I can honestly say I've only had very positive experiences at Sense of Serenity.

Today I took my daughter for her 10th birthday and my friend and her daughter went also. We all got manicures and pedicures. I had my eyebrows waxed and I will only let them do it, my sensitive skin has never been irritated by any of the products they use (as I have at other places!) and they do them just right. My daughter got her ears pierced today in a private, sanitary room (so much better than at a mall kiosk or store) and it is done properly and privately. No one was watching her except for me.

Of utmost importance here is sanitation. Files are not re-used (they offfer to give them to you when you leave) and pedicures are done in your own sanitized bowl; cleanliness is MOST important here!

They are one of the only places in the Chicago metro area to offer the Fish Pedicures, and the owner keeps up with all the new trends in spa treatments -- their offering of services is constantly being updated-- they are truly on the 'cutting edge' of services and also customer service!

This spa offers great value (check out their monthly calendar of specials) and great service, what more could one ask for?!

They sell beautiful scrubs and wonderful soaps, now even have a 'create your own fragrance' and the boutique is a value as well as a great place to pick up accessories -- I've stopped in just to shop!

The staff has always been friendly and professional. They have a true sense of customer service.

They have also expanded with a hot tub and sauna area. The addition is beautiful!

We will return and I will keep referring friends to this spa. As will my friend who was there with me today. It was her first time there, she was delighted, and already anxious to return :)

One last thing -- the owner is very community minded -- participating in fundraisers and she is a great corporate citizen. Seriously, it just doesn't get any better. It's a downtown spa in the south suburbs. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

5 stars -- is that all I can give it?? 10 is more like it :)

After reading the great reviews online about Sense of Serenity, I decided to book the $98 special which included a massage, facial, manicure, and pedicure.

When I attempted to call to make an appointment, no one answered the phone. I knew the business was open from the hours that were posted online. This should have been my first clue to the kind of service which is provided. When an employee did answer the phone I made my appointment for 9:30am, but the receptionist suggested coming in at 9am, so a continuity of services could be provided.

On the morning of my appointment, I arrived at 9am promptly; however my esthetician did not enter the building until 9:10 am. When I was called back to the massage room, I waited, undressed, on the massage table for another 15 minutes. The massage was decent. My facial was rather quick and I spent most of the time under the steam.

My nails were the breaking point. I had to wait for the staff members to finish with a walk-in client??s manicure and pedicure until I was taken care of. I would not have minded waiting; however the background of the spa was chaotic and stressful. Staff members were coming and going as they wished. One staff member also commented how she was going to take a nap in the back before her next client arrived. The staff were eating in the pedicure chairs and talking on their personal cell phones in the business area. My manicurist was constantly watching the other staff member performing a pedicure on another client. (Not to mention, the polish on my toes started chipping 3 days later).

I had now been at the spa for nearly 4 hours (when all I received were ??mini?? treatments- which should have taken about 2 1/2 hours). I then felt rushed out due to the increase in clients because of prom. There are also no dryers or lights to help your nails dry. As I went to pay for my services, I reached into my purse and my nails smudged. The receptionist watched this happen. When I commented my manicure was now ruined, she stated she would see if the manicurist could fix my nails. After 4 hours at the spa for services which should have taken half the time, I needed to attend an engagement and could not spend any more time here-I ended up leaving and taking off all of the nail polish at home.

After 4 hours at the spa for services which should have taken half the time, I needed to attend an engagement and could not spend any more time here-I ended up leaving and taking off all of the nail polish at home.

This place was fantastic - we had a great time - very relaxing, clean, friendly with outstanding customer service. My friends and I can not wait to go back. Between us we received a swedish massage, manicure & pedicure with no complaints about any of these serives. We were so relaxed. They have very creative specials daily so check out their website and view the calendar so you don't miss out.

I went this past weekend to Sense Of Serenity Day Spa, for the new spa fish pedicures. I can't tell you how great of an experience it was, my feet feel awesome! Not only is it an affordable service, the spa is beautiful and the staff was fantastic! I will have this service done again, and I recommend everyone to try it! You will love it.
