I think the last time I was up at Marblemount to see the bunnies was when I was about 8 years old. My Great Grandfather used to trade his services as a handyman/groundskeeper at the Clark Cabins in exchange for free rent so he could have somewhere to stay closer to the mountain when he was up mining for Talc to carve into little statues to sell.

I remember feeding the bunnies back in the 70's and my mother and my aunts and uncles were feeding them before me and my great grandparents before.

I finally managed to get all 3 of my own children up there to see them and I cant tell you how awesome it was to have these huge (very well fed) bunnies see you walking down a path and they all run TOWARD you instead of running away. It was like they had known us their whole lives and were happy to see us again.

I was worried at first about them biting my 2 year old accidentally when she was trying to feed them little pieces of bread but they were so gentle with her that my fears quickly vanished and one of them even lay down in the grass beside her begging for nice rub behind the ears. :)

here is a photo of my daughter feeding her new friends.

I will be making sure that I take my kids up there every year until they grow up and take their own kids. :) and introduce a 6th generation to the little fellows.

you just have to see this place.

The Skagit River Resort advertises the bunnies on its property, and it does so for good reason. My 7-year old daughter didn't want to leave after our 2-night stay because she loved feeding the furry critters so much with the stale bread provided by the resort. This is a great place for families for families with small children. It even has a small playground with swings and a seesaw. Those who think of a "resort" as a place to lounge around a pool while sipping on margaritas will not be so enthusiastic about it.

We stayed in the Western theme cabin. It was clean, all the appliances worked properly, and it gave us the best nights' rest of our trip. Even though the cabins were a stone's throw from Highway 20, the traffic noise didn't pose a problem at all. In fact, the noise level being so much lower than the hotels and motels we stayed at elsewhere on the trip contributed to our 2 nights of good sleep.

The mailing address is in Rockport, but the actual location is in Marblemount (closer to the entrance to the North Cascades National Park).
