I was recommended to see Cynthia Torres for a haircut from a friend of mine who thought she was really good. I have already exhausted just about every reasonable hair salon in this city so I thought I'd give her a try. I just went recently and was in dire need of a neatly styled hairdo by that point. Cynthia was really nice, friendly and took her time in cutting my hair the way I knew I wanted it done. She didn't rush me out the door, like other stylists do, and the salon atmosphere was very relaxed, low key and friendly--not loud, crazy-busy nor was anyone acting pretentious or snobby. Cynthia was very conversational, confident, and focused, though yes, she is a really young woman, she certainly knows what she's doing. My hair is difficult to cut and because I wanted a lot of angling done on a short, layered bob, she even took the time to flat iron my hair so it would be easier to cut. I didn't like the way it looked after it was really flattened out, but when I got home and washed it, it was back to it's old self. I found a couple of spots that she had missed when I got home, and maybe it was because I wasn't able to see those spots after she was done, but I'm sure she would've fixed them if I had noticed them because I'm very picky about the style being "just so." But overall, I was very happy with the cut and the whole experience and would definitely go back to her again. Cynthia, you rock and you're my new hair stylist guru. Also for the city and Soho, the price of the cut was pretty reasonable... not cheap but not overly expensive either.

Pros: Relaxed, friendly, professional

Cons: Far from Queens, hard to find if you don't know SoHo

i don't need to tell you how hard it is to find your "perfect" colorist and "perfect" stylist that you can trust. i moved to new york 3,5 yrs ago and that was one of my biggest concerns. well, this is my "perfect" spot with a "perfect" duo - cynthia and jesus. cynthia - very receptive to my styling wants and needs. and she proved to have a good eye on what looks good. i usually keep my hair about medium length but i'm very sensitive about my bangs, so every time cynthia manages to add a new glamorous touch to it mixing it up a bit and keeping me happy. jesus - keeps up a great job on my highlights. it's this great non-bimbo shade of blonde that is undertoned by my natural dirty blonde.
in addition to that, salon is very welcoming. despite of the lack of the sign outside, the staff is very caring, interior looks great and a glass of wine is offered.
cynthia and jesus have been taking care of me for 2 yrs now and i continue to get a ton of complements on my hair - that's a pretty objective measure of the quality these guys provide. two thumbs up.

Cynthia has a good sense of styling. I recommend her to you all gals. She does not mess up your hair or give you some crapy layer. I had a hair dresser before that put her own creativity on me. of course..SHE IS OUT. Even tho the drive is far, but i will only go to someone i trust for my hair. Saloon also offers facials and sells hair products.

I got my hair cut from cynthia as a walk-in and I love the cut! She looks young so I was a little pesemistic at first because I thought perhaps she lacked the experience I like in a stylist to give a great cut. but I was pleasantly surprised. she gave me a great cut and totally gave me what I asked for. she also gave me good suggestions to modify what I initially wanted so that it would be better for my hair type. i loved that. the result is a great look that I am so happy with. and at 80 was a great deal. plus she spent a long time with me paying attention to all the details that make a cut really top notch. to top it off she is the most down to earth stylist i've ever met. so nice and normal. grew up in nyc, like me, so I felt right at home. most importantly though i left a very satisfied customer so thought I should give her kudos publicly to help another looking for a great cut at a good price!

Pros: cynthia, sweet atmosphere, great price and wine offered too!

Cons: no sign out front so it's hard to find.

I have serious issues with getting my hair cut. That being said, I only trust Cynthia Torres to get the job done. She is the absolute best, charming, beautiful, and talented. This is the best salon in town, the atmosphere is relaxing and everyone is friendly and fun. Thank you Cynthia!
