We went for a special occasion and asked to be seated in a quiet spot, but this restaurant is right in the middle of the lobby of a hotel, so it is SO noisy. To top it off we were seated looking at the kitchen door with a lot of activity and not very romantic. The server did a lot of upgrading that she passed off as freebies which I think is dishonest, so be careful there. The food was ok but very overpriced. Fresh bread was hard and tasteless. I love a good steak, but the servings seemed small for the $42 per steak price tag. Capital Grille is way better for that price. We had a coupon but missed it by $2.50..the server just said "aw, that is too bad." No offer to add something inexpensive like a coffee to get us to the total. We won't be returning.

I went to Woolley's for dinner and it was excellent.
I had the Scallop special and my husband had the New York strip. Both dinners were to die for.
All the meals also come with a nice little salad and sauteed vegetables. My husbands came with scalloped potatoes which were also very good.
The best part about our dining experience had to have been the service though. The server was amazing and let us try the freemark abbey wine before we even bought it! The dining room servers worked together as a team and two other servers filled our waters and cleared our plates. The manager even stopped over.
I would recommend this restaurant to all my friends.

It's a rare experience when every item ordered, from appetizer to dessert, for a table of four, is outstanding!

This was our second trip to Woolley's, and just as good as the first. We were treated like honored guests for our anniversary dinner.

We did bring in 15 year old bottle of wine from our wedding year. I was told this restaurant never charges a corkage fee! I hate bringing my bottles of wine downtown because they charge you to celebrate with them.

The food was a taste delight. Highly recommend this restaurant especially for those that love steak.

I usually don??t review restaurants online, but this time just filling out a comment card was not enough.

Every year, the night before my birthday, my mom and dad treat me to dinner. This has been going on since I??ve been 11. I??ve had to wear balloons and sombreros or stand on chairs while waiters sang happy birthday and my parents laughed. This year, I felt too old for some of the popular chains and asked my parents to take me to a nice, ??grown-up? restaurant. Well, my mom found a coupon for Woolley??s Steakhouse in the newspaper and decided it was too good to pass up. I got to take a friend with me and everyone dressed up. We got to sit by a waterfall area that had all these huge plants that were really beautiful. We had this really sweet waitress named Pam who helped us navigate the menu and made a lot of suggestions. I ended up trying a risotto with shrimp in it. It was something I would never have normally tried, but it was amazing! I think it is my favorite food now. In the end, Woolley??s was really classy about the way they helped me celebrate my birthday. Pam brought out a cake with a little candle burning in the middle. At the end she handed me a card that had a birthday message that was signed by all the staff. It was so sweet! The cake was made out of chocolate and had some kind of buttery frosting I??ve never tasted before. It was so good! Thank you Woolley??s for giving me my best birthday dinner ever!

I guess I??ve always had a negative idea of hotel restaurants. After dining at Woolley??s, I can honestly say that this restaurant broke the mold. The food was top-notch, the service was great and prices were very reasonable. My wife and I were staying at the Embassy Suites by the airport and were too tired to go out for dinner. We decided to walk downstairs and hazard the hotel dining experience. We were seated right away in an open gazebo area that my wife really liked. I had a steak and my wife had an Asian Pasta dish. Both of our dishes were wonderful. I also know a little bit about wine. I asked to see their wine list and was surprised with how many selections they had. We split a bottle of Rodney Strong Pinot Noir 2006. The whole time we were traveling I don??t think we found a fine dining experience that had this particular wine. I really liked the wait staff. Towards the end of the meal, the restaurant manager approached our table and asked out we like our meal. It was really a nice touch. I was extremely pleased with our experience. If we lived closer, my wife and I would be dining their all the time!

Pros: Great food. Good prices. Loved our server.

Cons: Not in my home town!

I was suprised at this restaurant. Very good steak, and very nice and personable servers as well.

Very interested drink selection. Bar makes infused martinis, actually very good.

I dine quite frequently and I do not give praise easily. I have dined at every fine dining restaurant in the twin cities.

I found Woolley's Steakhouse to be a delight.

The space is ok, it is in a hotel, but the plants and trees inside are very unique. The decorations of the restaurant are nice but somewhat non-descript.

What the space lacks the food and service make up for ten times. The steaks are just as good as Manny's or Mortons, and you get more with your dinners (starch, veg, salad).
The service really is top notch. Our server Pamela was extremely knowledgeable and helped us with entree choices and also to pick out a nice bottle of cab from thier wine list. The wine list is very nice as well with a lot of choices (200 +).
This restaurant earns a ten from me. I hope it lives up to this experience on subsequent visits. If it does it will be my restaurant of choice for upscale dining.

Wow, I was very suprised by this suburban eatery. They have fantastic steak, and I'm a steak expert.

I had the beef oscar which utizlizes thier filet mignon, my fiancee had the ny strip which was excellent as well.

The service was very good, this also suprised me. The manager and chef both stopped by at some time through out the night. A very nice touch showing that they really care about the customers.

I will be back and I recommend this restaurant to all my friends.

We had to wait for a little bit to get served and every table around us received bread at the beginning of the meal while we received ours once we asked. Our actually waitress was good, but the staff around her failed badly. I probably won't go back as it really wasn't good enough to warrant a second attempt. The chef also covered every plate with parsley for looks which is not very creative.

I have heard of this place but never tried. Recently I had the chance it was really great. We started with crispy beer battered walleye fingers which were the best I have had. I had the shrimp and scallop dish while my partner had the new york strip, both were excellent but the lobster cream sauce with my dish was out of this world.
The service was also outstanding. Our waitress was very knowledgable about the food and suggested a great wine with our dinners (a malbec from Argentina).
They have a unique dessert that we tried called the Strawberry Woolley's - it was flaming grand marnier that you dip strawberries in then dip them in whipped cream - very different and good.
The manager and chef both stopped by our table which was a very nice touch - it showed us that they care and appreciate our business - we will be back with friends! We highly recommend this restaurant!

I eat out Three times a week and this restaurant is one of the best. If you have ever just wanted good food and service to match this is it. Pam is my choice for server of the year and the chef comes to my table every time I visit to ensure a perfect meal. What a gem of a restaurant. It reminds me of the old Charlie's in downtown Minneapolis when food was the reason you went to a restaurant and not because it is trendy.

We went on an extremely busy Saturday night, luckily we had made a reservation otherwise the wait was up to 40 minutes.
Even with the restaurant being so busy our server (Pamela) really took good care of us. Another perk of making a reservation is they gave of free Italian mineral water, I think they only do this on the weekends.
We both had the 10oz Filet, it was excellent with the housemade bernaise. The level of the Filet steaks we had surpassed Kincaids, Murrays and was similar (if not better!) to what I have at Morton's.
At the end of dinner they had a rich flowerless chocolate cake which they had pieces for $3!
After dessert they bring hot towels and lemon cotton candy to cleanse your palate.
Overall, a very pleasureable experience. I will be back!

Our waitress neglected our table, was rude and unapologetic for the problems with our meals. Manager on duty basically told us that our business meant nothing to the establishment.

I have never in my life received such disrespect and uncaring attitudes from a restaurant staff. After years of happily visiting Woolley's, I'm apalled at the customer service that was provided. I understand mistakes happen, but the sheer disrespect and discourtesy that myself and my party were treated with is shocking.

This place has been around for a while - 20+ years - I remember going to sunday brunch here when I was a kid. I believe they have improved over the years and kept up with trends instead of being left behind.

My favorite aspect of the restaurant is the staff. One of their servers goes by Grandma and she has been there since it opened (shes still going strong and a real sweet heart). Pamela is another one of the best extremely knowledgeable, professional, and kind.

Its amazing more people don't know about this restaurant. A lot of my friends had never heard of it. They could do more for advertising to get thier name out - they are still busy, but not overly so.

The chef comes in to the dining room and talks to the tables which is a very nice touch. The food is nothing that is going to knock your socks off, but it is extremely good. The walleye dishes have to be the best around! The steaks are very good as well, try the Filet Gratinee.

They have put a lot of effort in to their wine list over the last few years, which I appreciate being somewhat of a wine snobb myself. They did recieve some awards from the wine magazines for their list. They have some very good meritage and cabernets from california. I do go on Wednesdays and Sundays because they offer half price bottles off of thier entire list! I do now know of any other restaurant that do this! Usaully they have a seperate list or limited selection. They also serve thier wine at the right temperature! No other restaurants in the twin cities do this! None that I know of and I have been to the majority of restaurants in the cities.

Well come and see for yourself, this is basically an undiscovered gem that I truely enjoy dining at.

If you live in the area you must visit this place, really good steaks and a superb staff all that have been around for a long time. Any time I go here I am treated like family. All the downtown restaurants and steakhouses do not have anything on Woolley's. One of my all time favorites.

What an excellent experience! Wait staff was very personable, and the food was very good. We had the swordfish and the filet mignon. Both were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The scalloped potatoes are the best side item! What a great value too! with your dinner you recieve a salad, bread, fresh vegetables, & side item (with your entree). Most places are ala carte and you have to pay extra for that! I would highly recommend and will return.
ps. we also had a dark berry martini that was superb!

We recently went to Woolley's for our anniversary dinner. The food was average and a bit pricey for the quality and service. Definitely not a "destination restaurant", there are much better options in the south metro.

Food preparation at best average. Service slow and surly.Glass wine served off. Be aware that this restaurant is independently owned and operated, not in any way affiliated with Embassy Suites and if there are problems do not expect Embassy Suites to help resolve them. Find some place else out of the hotel where prices and quality are more commensurate with on another.

Not a good dining experience.

Their beef is certified angus beef, wine spectator awarded wine list, several service staff that have recieved Bloomington diamond service awards and a Chef that attended NY CIA and teaches free cooking classes. I would highly recommend this place to everyone. In Bloomington there is really only two choices Woolley's or Kincaids, and why waste the gas to downtown? The service staff Pamela, Grandma Suezanne, Jaime & Enrique are absolutly amazing.

Classic American dining at its finest. This is best restaurant around. Not stuffy or pretentious, great food and service in a cozy atmoshere. I noticed the last time I was in that they won an award for thier wine list. The wine list is really excellent, and they offer half price bottles every Wednesday and Sunday night. A lot of places do that but have restrictions. Woolley's does not have any restrictions and you can pick any bottle on the list. OUTSTANDING!

Was a little disappointed by the steaks, out of 8 people 4 of us has steak(all different cuts) they had very little taste and alot of fat .Everyone else had a pasta dish and seemed to love it. They should probably be known for the pasta instead of steakhouse. The service was average, the full bar was nice and drinks were great. I would have to say if your looking for a great steak , this is not the place. A little over priced for the quality of food.

Had a late lunch with my sister at Woolley's. The restaurant was not too busy. The decor was tropic and

felt very comforting.

I had the a chicken sandwich it was delightful. Their coffee is strong and full flavoured.

The pricing was reasonable and came to around $12-14 per person.

The thing that will keep me coming back was the service, our server Nicki was fabulous. If you get a

chance ask for her, she is exceptional. Personable, friendly, efficient and kind.

They also have a suprisingly excellent wine list as well as some unique drinks and martinis.
The best has to be the prime filet mignon or the walleye

The best has to be the prime filet mignon or the walleye

.

The food is a little pricey but it sure is good. The Chef still comes out to talk about the food with you and that is an excellent touch. Difficult to choose an item from the menu as you will want to try everything. The sauces and presentation are great as well as the entree themselves. Would definitely go back again.

The total ambience was awesome with tons of plants and a waterfall. The food was the best I have ever had in a hotel with excellent service that only enhanced the food. The Executive Chef even came out and asked how everything tasted in a casual non-intrusive way. Overall out whole experience was great and we will definately be back.
