It's bad when it's 8:00 on a Saturday night and you're at one of only three tables that are occupied. It's even worse when the waitress has to ask you whether she should bring your salads before your entrees. (She's kidding, right??)

I have been to this adorable place three times and like it more with each visit. The Chicken and the Eggplant parmigianas are both completely gorgeous, and each wine I tried off the short but intelligent wine list was a treat, especially

Pros: Attentive service, delicious specials, memorable ambience/atmosphere

The portions are very generous and the atmosphere is romantic. One of the best parts is the ability to have whole wheat pasta as an option. I thought it was more average priced than inexpensive like the previous reviewer, but I guess

I'm not sure why it's still a secret, but Gasparino's quietly serves the best pasta in the East Village. In a word, the pasta is perfect - freshly made, fresh ingredients. We've been to Frank, Max, i Coppi and John's - all great
