Alfredo's is one of the best restaurants ever! The staff is amazing, and their fettucine alfredo is delicious! They are on the expensive side, but worth it because the food is simply delicious. It is a good place to go grab drinks as well, they have a loung area in front of the dining room!

Being able to find a great place to enjoy a hearty lunch with friends and then to have more than enough for dinner later was a pleasure. My party had a great time and we didn't feel rushed like we have before in mid-town locations. This is on the list for next time.

Pros: Fresh, home made pasta

Cons: Portions so large you feel guilty leaving any behind

My husband and I went to Alfredo of Rome this past weekend and had a phenomenal dinner. We live in NYC but dont always take advantage of all that it has to offer, such as the restaurants, and decided to treat ourselves to some good Italian food since we hadnt had any in a while. A friend of mine recommended Alfredo of Rome and i am so glad to chose it!! My husband is Italian and is a connoisseur of Italian food and he was more than impressed. We ordered the prosciutto as an appetizer and it was delicious. It was rolled in sundried tomatoes and some kind of cheese--incredible. For an entree, my husband ordered some baked eggplant dish, which he ate every last bite of, and i ordered good ole lasagne, which was scrumptious beyond words. We were stuffed but since we were treating oiurselves, we decided to order dessert. Being a tiramisu connoisseur myself, i had to try Alfredo's, hoping for something extraordinary. Of course, it was! If you are looking for truly delicious and authentic Italian food, i definitely recommend Alfredo of Rome.

The food was just not good. When I go to an italian restaurant, I expect large portions, flavor in the food, and friendly service. If you have standards for food, you would be better off going to the grocery store and simply boiling water and throwing in a box of barilla tortellini. I promise it will taste better than the pasta dishes that I had at Alfredo's.
The restaurant is presentable and in a great location, but once the food came I was incredibly disappointed. When the check came I felt ripped off. My friends had to force themselves to eat the fettucine alfredo because it was so expensive and they did not want to waste their money. The service was also a bit slow and not very friendly.

The restaurant has really good food...but I don't know whatz been going on the past few years. They make their employees wear tacky diner uniforms - vest, tie and long aprons. Girls are not supposed to look like that! They are supposed to be classy. I don't understand what was wrong with the black clothes they used to wear? Now they all just look like men. The girls that answer the phone don't know what they are doing.!!!! And it is not as clean as it used to be. I guess I'm just stuck in the past, but I'd like to see a change in the management.... thank god they have the same chef!!!!!! but overall great food!!!!!!

Whenever you eat near that area, you expect those prices, so that point would be futile. The place is nicely decorated, music wasn't loud and because of its size, it didn't feel crowded even when it was. Servers and management are all very friendly and eager to recommend a new dish or a drink. The reason I named the review like I did, is because they take a long time for everything, hence if you need to keep someone at the table for a long business lunch, this is the right place. Food is very tasty and properly served, but is never hot, it doesn't matter what you order. The quality of food is average, what does stand out is the desserts, which are very good and they have a great variety of them. I would make it a point to avoid this place for dinner, it doesn't matter how late you come, you'll never find parking (it will cost around $50 to park a couple of hours in a garage) and the lighting of the place is not appropriate for the night.

I went here last night for a birthday dinner with my brother. We were seated promptly and our waiter was friendly (although it was a bit difficult understanding him with his heavy italian accent). The spicy marinara sauce they have for dipping with the bread is amazing. I salad they had as a special of the day, which was pretty tasty. For my entree, I ordred the Malfatti (a gnocchi-like dish made with spinach and ricotta).....all I can say that it was so good, I cleaned my plate! I was so stuffed when I left the restaurant, but it was worth it because I was happy!

A great disappointment! With my wife and daughter, I visited Alfredo's restuarant last Friday and discover that bad "Italian" food may be served in one of the greatest cities in the world. I have been to the original Alfredo in Rome and this restaurant does not live up to said name. The fettucine is so so and the pasta that I order, which was prepared with lobster, was insipid and badly cooked. My family is of Italian origin and I have tasted Italian food both in Italy and other parts of the world but this must be one of the worst experiences considering the cost. Service was just OK, as well as the decor. I would under no circumstance recommend this restaurant to anybody.

My friends and I recently visited Alfredo of Rome for lunch. All I have to say is that the service was superb!!! We were greeted at the door by two lovely hostesses one of which promptly seated us at our table. Although it was fairly crowded we were able to get a quiet corner. As the hostess was leaving our table-the waiter was already waiting to greet us. He was very polite and attentive. He asked us if we were interested in the specials of the day and told us the whole story behind the famous fettuccine Alfredo. After his great description that is exactly what my girlfriends ordered. I chose to have penne a la checca. For an appetizer we had to try the Italian sushi. It was absolutely delicious. Our waiter came by to check on us frequently without being annoying. The busboy was great, he brought us water at the right time and was also very polite. I chose to have a cappuccino and pane cotta for dessert. One of my friends had chocollatisimo and the other decided to have finnochio. I think we all agreed that it was a great finish to a great meal. As we were getting ready to leave, the manager came by to say hello and introduce himself. My experience at Alfredo was just great. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I am a frequent traveler to Italy....mainly for the the food and wine...and Alfredo is like dining in Rome. The ambiance is unique for an Italian restaurant, but perfect for New York. The food is delicious and typical of what you would find in one of the best restaurants in Rome. The Fettucine Alfredo are the best ever and a must whenever there. The "sushi" appetizers are an awesome combination of flavors. Tons to choose from on the wine menu. The bar is a fun atmosphere and perfect for an after-work cocktail. Alfredo has become one of my favorite Italian restaurants in NYC, so I recommend it!

I and two of my dear friends visiting from St. Petersburg, Russia, stopped by at Alfredo's on Sunday night (January 6, 2008) for a drink and deserts after our dinner at China Grill. Now, I have been at Alfredo's many times myself before - my office used to be across the Fifth Avenue. In fact, I even have their "Red Card" (for frequent guests). Service was never stellar, but acceptable; food was never spectacular, but okay by NY standards; I liked their cosmos, however. This Sunday night, the treatment I (we) have experienced there, was not only not welcoming, but it was truly despikable and very very offensive. A waiter (should have ask this guy's name and take his picture!!) after being moderately rude and taking his time to take us to our table, expressed his loud dissatisfaction with the fact that we didnt tell him in advance that we were there for desserts/drinks only by arguing with us and finally, told us to go "F...myself" and yes, I quote!! Then he grabbed back the menus and left us standing there in the main dining room. After few minutes, we went back to the bar area. I asked to speak with the manager who appeared in few minutes and apologized for his staff's rude behaviour. The manager spoke with that waiter for few minutes after which that same waiter passed by us and told us loudly that he is "not going to apologies". As whatever happened before was not offensive enough!! The manager told me that he fired the guy and can not do anything more then that. We left. I am still in shock of that behaviour!! It never ever happened to me at any place I was in NYC, and I have explored NY well! Needless to say, I will never go back and will advise all my friends against going there!!

Saturday's lunch at Alfredo of Rome was an amazing experience. My friends and I started with the Frittura alla Romana (calamari) and Gorgonzola with Pear Pizza for appetizers. For my main course I tried the Straccetti alla Trasteverina. Beef cooked to perfection presented to me on a bed of arugula. The service was excellent as well. I will definitely be back to try more delicious food from the menu.

Alfredo's in New York City reminds me of Alfredo's in Rome. Fetuccini is the best! I would highly recommend it to anyone going to New York. The service was excellent. The waiters were fun. Food was very very good! Yummmm!!!

As a man standing close to six feet one and weighing in a beefy 290 lbs, i believe that my palate has some credible tastebuds. Alfredos of rome does not stop impressing me with its impeccable service and unbelievable food. From its amazing calamari and pizza to its mouthwatering pastas and grilled entrees the menu has something for everyone all of which are equally delectable. i highly recommend the fetuccine alfredo, along witth it's calamari, and then topped off with a sweet desert or a slice of heaven from its chocolate chariot. It's soo good that i would just go there for the bread and dips. The waitstaff are all experienced and well trained and extremely polite and courteous. The decor has a wonderful vibe to it and it invites you to try such delicacies. All in all it's the best restaurant in new york.

Pros: Great food, fun atmosphere and a great value especially for such a location in New York

Cons: the only con i have is the fact that i can't eat it every single day for i live in college.

When searching for an Italian restauarant, what better location than Alfredo's! The food is delicious. Service is prompt, courteous and efficient. It is a perfect spot for pre theater dinner. It is also an excellent place to end your day after a day of sightseeing.

We were thrilled to be able to dine at Alfredo's as it came highly recommended and had an excellent reputation. I loved the place as it had character and history contributing to the feel of authenticity. We were not disappointed as the staff were friendly, attentive and accommodating. The food particularly the Fettucini was worth the trip. Save room for dessert. For those who live to eat ...a place you shouldn't miss!

This is one of those restaurants where my friends & I couldn't stop eating because the food is so damn good! The wine list was reasonable, the fettuccini alfredo as appetizer was perfect portion, and the lamb chops were cooked to perfection.
Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, the chocolate cart came rolling by...YUM!

Given the city's choices, Alfredo's pulled of a repeat performance. I was not disappointed --- The buttery, melt-in-your mouth pasta alfredo is a must! Although next time, I think I'll pass on a pasta to share =) The pasta alfredo was so good, I hated to see the bowl empty. Fortunately, I had other courses to look forward to. We lingered over a satisfying lunch making room for dessert. Remember, 'yes' to dessert, and try the very refreshing sorbet.

I've been eating at Alfredo's ever since it opened and I've yet to find an Italian restaurant that can even come close to the quality of food and service here. The food is DELICIOUS. My friends and I always order the calamari appetizer and we love the gorgonzola with pear pizza (though the first time you go you have to have the original Fettuccine Alfredo. There's nothing like it). You have to have all three courses when you go to Alfredo's because they're all unbelievable (you can't skip the dessert--try the fennel!). Also, the atmosphere and decor makes this restaurant a great place to go when you want to have a nice, relaxing dinner with family or friends. Service is great; they treat you very well and the waitstaff is always on hand. You definitely won't be sorry if you choose to go to Alfredo's. It's the best!!

Let?s talk about dessert first. Go straight to the chocolate cart and save room for the fresh Gianduja. Think of a huge bar of soft pure hazelnut chocolate that melts on your tongue. From Torres to LiLac you?ll never find anything like this. Of course the Lasagna beats my mothers, sorry mom. Also go for salmon highlighted by basil oil infused mushrooms. For authentic Italian with the highest quality ingredients I rate this a must for all. I even got my office hooked.

My husband and I just celebrated our anniversary here. Start by asking for the chunks of Parmesan (free from the bar). The Malfatti are like gnocchi without the weight, instead of heavy dumplings these are light ?pillows? of pasta filled with Ricotta and spinach (wow). Great Grouper. All the free dipping sauces keep us coming each year. Last certainly not least, the Torrone on the chocolate is fresh and soft. It?s not the hard stuff your grandma served that sent you to the dentist.

from Fettuccine Alfredo to Wine Menu to Service - this is the best Italian Restaurant I've been to in NYC. Right in the heart of Rockefeller Center, Alfredo's has it all. This is a must if visiting New York and should be visitied frequently if you live here. The bar is also a great place to hang out and meet friends. I can't say enough - the food was great and the service was excellent and friendly. I'll definitely be back.

I love this restaurant! The decor is gorgeous, the ambience is cozy, and the food is authentic. The gorgonzola with pear pizza is amazing. What creativity! The calamari with fried apples is a must. The Fettuccine Alfredo may not be what you're used to but this is the way it should be made, people! It melts in your mouth...Alfredo would be proud. The ravioli is so tasty and the grilled entrees are delicious. Save room for dessert and make sure you order different ones to share. It's so worth it. We decided to try Alfredo's after many years when it was fromerly in the Citicorp Building. We used to enjoy their fabulous Fettucine Alfredo, deep fried zucchinni and great salads.
Alas, those days are gone. We were greeted by a surly Hostess who would not seat us in the back at the tables that had table cloths. We had to settle for a table near the bar. The decor has changed considerably from the old loacation. It appears to be an ecclectic combination of semi-fine dining and bistro mix.
Our bread arrived cold...must have been in the refrigerator. Next we ardered salads . 2 Insalata Alfredos and 2 Caprese The capreses were average as the tomatoes were very woody, the Insalatas were a disaster!!! Since when do mixed Italian salads contain shredded carrots and baby gerkhins!! To add insult to injury we could not taste the dressing!! We had to order extra and that took 10 minutes to arrive.
The Fettucine Alfredo was the biggest disappoint..4 dishes 4 different serving sizes ranging from 1/4 plate tp 1/2 full. It was a very grainy and bitter sauce. The pasta was clumped together and very unappetizing..
Our waiter forgot to serve the wine until we were almost finished. The restrooms were filhy with papers all over the floor.
When the bill arrived, the manager had aded 18% gratuity!!! We sent it back .. and had it removed

This restaurant has clearly seen better days. There was no apolgy for the service or the food. When we return to New York we will not visit Alfredo's again.

Pros: Good location - Rockefeller Center

Cons: Food, service

.

Overpriced and absolutely awful Italian food! Had the pasta with mushrooms and beef - had no flavor. It was supposed to come with a cream sauce, but it was very dry and overcooked. You're better off at Olive Garden.

It took me almost a year of eating at Alfredo of Rome to realize that its Rome, Italy location was the originator of the classic butter-and-cheese dish Fettuccine Alfredo (no kidding). While most of our party ordered the fettuccine, some of us opted to sample the oddly named "Italian Sushi" platter. We were pleasantly surprised to find our platter containing an assortment of the most flavorful ingredients mixed-and-matched and shaped into sushi-like hors d'oeuvres: Salmone (smoked salmon and buffalo mozzarella rolls with infused lemon oil and pink peppercorns), Tonno (smoked tuna rolled with avocado drizzled with a ginger mint sauce), Prosciutto (Prosciutto San Daniele rolled with figs and Gorgonzola cheeseour favorite!), Speck (smoked ham speck rolls with fresh cucumber, Calamari (fried calamari stuffed with fresh lobster chunks and avocado puree).

I also ordered the Insalata di Rucola (baby arugula salad with red delicious apples, caramelized walnuts and goat cheese) and the Tagliolini Primavera con Gamberi (homemade tagliolini served with shrimp & sauteed seasonal vegetables) as my entree and my date went with the Trittico di Pasta, a combination of three of Alfredo's most popular pastas: Fettuccine Alfredo, Eggplant Lasagna and Veal Ravioli.

Overall, a delicious meal and fantastic service.

I dined with my date at Alfredo of Rome over the weekend and what a let down. I have frequented this restaurant before and have had a nice time but the last few visits have gotten worse each time. First of all the waiters have no knowledge of the food, wine and cocktails. When my date asked about their spiced red apple martini the waiter said they needed to ask the bartender how it was made and did'nt comeback for another ten minutes and when he did he just said it was vodka and apple juice. When we asked what selection of meat and cheeses were in the pizzicarolo he said he was'nt sure and said he was sure we would like it.

Our food order was sent up totally wrong. I ordered the fettucine Alfredo for an appetizer and it never came up. The waiter said he thought I wanted it as a side dish. We had to pour our own wine and could not get our water glasses refilled without having to wave someone down. Our waiter never checked on us through out our meal and was never really attentive to us or the tables around us.This place has some real management issues in my opinion and needs some training of their staff on service and menu knowledge. What a joke!

I went to Alfredo's a few times with my company... the food is pretty good, especially the fried calamari appetizer (they throw in fried apples and peppers, yummy) I had the pasta sampler last time I went (ravioli, lasagna and fettucine) I wouldnt recommend the veal ravioli, everyone at the table agreed that it was dry and just not any good. the lasagna was delicious but the fettucine alfredo, which i expected to be the best, was just ok... very lemony. but it has a nice decor and friendly staff. would recommend as long as you stay away from the ravioli!

Sit at the bar, order a glass of wine, and grab an appetizer: they'll also bring you olives, parmesan cheese, a huge loaf of delicious bread and 3 dipping sauces. We decided not even to order an entree since we were given so much. Nice big bar; reliable, satisfying place when you're in the area.

Recommended by our hotel. It was on our way to a show, had nice decor, the water was good, but food was ok. Not bad, but nothing special.

I travel frequently on business to New York ( for the last 3 years ) and eat at this restaurant at least once a week. However on Tuesday , November 2 ,I had a terrible experience as the hostess did not want to sit a lone diner - she showed me the worst tables and offered no help when I asked if I could somewhere else. I ended up leaving which was a shabby way to treat a regular customer.

The Alfredo of Rome was a very good choice. The food was excellent. It appeared when the waitor determined we were not from the area, our service level declined. We waited some time for our order to be taken and had to ask for refills. The food was excellent and the choices were very good. I do recommend.

There must be an Italian in the kitchen and a talented chef at that! It was like returning to the eternal city itself....delicious and fun. The Hirshfeld murals with Italian theme are playful and the decor is modern and comfortable. I will be back over and over.

I must have dined at Alfredo's on an off night, because all of the other user reviews are wonderful. I found the food, though tasty, to be nothing out of the ordinary. The Alfredo, Veal Ravioli con Funghi, and chocolate desserts were decent as was the service. But for what you get, the price point was too high, perhaps in part due to the restaurant's Rockefeller Center location??? On the whole, something about the experience was lacking.

This is a great place to go for drinks, apps or dinner. I've taken clients here and met friends here for drinks/dinner. I've always been very happy with the service and the food...and you can't beat the location. Definitely try the Alfredo...it's AMAZING!

The specials are godly, especailly the fish and risotto dishes. Don't pass those up as they are usually stellar. The seafood sausage is ok, but the rest of the appetizers outshine them. Excellent selection of wines and they make a mean martini as well. The chocolate mousse is to die for and the cookies that come with the bill are quite tasty. It's my choice of preference for a business lunch.

The pasta pomadoro had WAY TOO MUCH SALT in it. It tasted like the chef spilled the salt shaker. I had to pound several glasses of water even hours afterwards. I wonder if the chef knew how his/her cooking tasted. Probably not. The hostess was kind of cold and lazy. The rest was okay.

I was actually very impressed with both the quality of the food and service at Alfredo. I took a business client to lunch, and he enjoyed the restaurant as well. However, I was left with the impression that the attempt to stylize the restaurant detracted from the overall experience. While we were trying to have a conversation, bizarre music was being piped in over the speakers, and the decor was odd, to say the least. Overall, I would definitely go to Alfredo again, I just wouldn't take a business client.

Went for dinner before a show and it was wonderful. Would highly recommend Alfredo's. A slightly casual atmosphere was very relaxing and the service was friendly and engaging. Try the alfredo -- even if as an appetizer. Portions are large and full of flavor. Could have easily stayed longer and lounged over some more wine if not for the show. Try to save room for dessert...!
