Tick Infestation August 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

My husband & I left our 9 month old puppy at Xtreme k9 for 10 days. While he was there Jillian was very nice and patient with me when I called her (every other day) to check up on him. He had never spent the night away from us and had never interacted with other dogs. Needless to say I was worried about him. The night we picked him up I noticed something on his belly...a tick. After further inspection I pulled about 7-10 off of him that night. I took him to the vet the next morning and they were able to get about 25 off of him. They gave us some medicine and we went on our way. The second full day we were still pulling ticks off of him. I noticed he wouldn't play and barely ate. He just wanted to sleep. When I went to put him in his kennel I noticed about 25-30 ticks on the towel that he sleeps on. We had to have our house bombed for fleas & ticks $101.00. After another trip to the vet (for more tick removal) and a more extensive exam we had to get antibiotics for him.

When we called Xtreme K9 to let them know the vet asked us to contact them so they can spray their fields (play areas) they told us that they had an "infestation of ticks this year". When we asked if they have been telling clients when they drop off their dogs he said "no, you sign the paper that it could happen". Yes, it could happen and we understand that 2-3 might "happen" but when he told us they were having an "infestation" we were NOT happy. That is NOT normal

Not only did we spend $101.00 on the exterminator we also spend more than $100.00 at the vet. We had to take all the comforters and pillows to the cleaners at $30.00/comforter and who knows how much per pillow. This has been an "Xtremely" costly boarding. The sad part this place came highly recommended by my sister in-law. She kept her dog there for two months and didn't have one problem.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ASK IF THEY ARE CLEAN (TICK FREE) before you decide to go with Xtreme K9

Pros: Jillian was very nice and I liked that the house was big and the dogs could run around
Cons: Jillian moved back to NY today. The customer service we got today-POOR

XTREME K-9 THE BEST!! 5 Star Rating - World class

It is worth the drive from Austin! No other place like it. The owners are very experienced and the staff is very attentive to your pets. They know how to help socialize your dog if needed. The place is spacious and the dogs have loads of room to run around and play in. The dogs are boarded indoors at night and the kennels are large enough for our German Shephard. I am so pleased we found this place, it is not like your local vet, where the dogs stay in a kennel, or run all the time. Our 2 dogs, barely notice when we pick them up.....I think they are having too much fun!! Truly professional owners and staff. I would recommend this place highly. It is somewhat of a drive for us, but absolutely worth it!!

Pros: great staff, dogs have huge area to play in, in emergencies they will work around your time schedule.

Just becareful if you call about an ad for puppies for sale and it leads you to this business. I purchased a puppy from here. My paperwork stated they had nothing to do with the sale, however the puppy was purchased from a lady who has some "dealings" here. I had my very expensive puppy for 9 days and she died. The seller is not accepting any responsibility what so ever. I have talked to several vets and have done my research on it and it all states my puppy was sick when I got her and the seller failed to have her checked out properly. Just be careful of buying any puppies from her it could cost you your heart and your pocketbook. I am going to take my case as far as I can.

Pros: None
Cons: Sells sick animals and seller will not accept responsibility for it.

!!BEWARE!! Not What You Want 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

I am *extremely* disappointed in Xtreme K9. I recently boarded my labrador with xtreme. As soon as I picked up my dog I noticed right away he wasn't himself. He wasn't the energetic, happy-go-lucky dog that I know and love. I figured he might just be tired from playing with all the dogs (and I mean tons of dogs). After having thought about it, how can three or four people possibly watch 35+ dogs all at once? Anyways, after letting my dog take a 4 hour nap I glanced over him again to make sure I hadn't missed any possible bite or scratch marks from the first time i checked when I picked him up. He was lounging in the kitchen all lethargic when I noticed his lower belly was all red. Something is not right here. His skin is normally soft as a baby with a tint of gray. I looked down to find his poor little belly from his belly button to his inner thighs and down to his butt was all red. Red like raw meat. Really, really raw. I proceeded to take him to the animal hospital and was told that he acquired a staphlococcus infection of some sort due to the unsanitary conditions in which he was in. Oh, by the way, $200 for the visit.
I would not recommend anyone taking their loved one here. This place has the same intentions as a puppy mill. They take no responsibility for what happens to your dog. They provide a piece of land for your dog and hundreds of other dogs to be unattended while they accept your check at the time of pickup. Careless. This establishment should be reviewed. Very disappointed!

Awesome for active dogs! 5 Star Rating - World class

I've been bringing my dogs to Xtreme K9 for 2 years, and it has been the best boarding facility that I have seen or visited here in Austin. The dogs are able to play outside with other dogs for long periods of time, which is far better than just having them cooped up in a concrete kennel all day. The staff is very friendly and accomodating to the needs of the dogs as well as their owners. When I pick my dogs up, they sleep for the almost the entire day when they get home because they have had so much fun! I would definately recommend Xtreme K9.

Pros: Dogs are not cooped up all day, dogs have fun there
Cons: Pflugerville!
