Well it was just terrible. I can't understand how the rating here is high.

It took ages to be given a menu. Then ages to take the order, which was done by as distracted and hassled waiter.

The three of us were staying across the street

My secret small Restaurant in hell's kitchen.

I said it before, the best rating I could ever give a restaurant is the fact that I see Italian tourists frequent it. Because it's authentic. The Pomodoro sauce is wonderful, I just get it with rigatoni and it's fantastic. Fresh basil...well fresh everything. Now I'm in love with their Ravioli homade in radicchio sauce, I never get tired of it. I also recommend the Branzino sciue' sciue';. It's a great portion of sea bass with shrimp, mussels and clams. The Italiano Pizza is rich and wonderful, and has always been perfectly cooked. It's the perfect local place for foodies in the hood to sneak off to for a few drinks or great, simply prepared Italian food. And they deliver! Alessandro, the manager is a great guy, friendly and interested in his customers. The service is fantastic. The Montepulciano red wine very good !

As usual I used Yelp! to help me find something different for me to eat.
I came across Carbone and it had 4 stars, so I figured why not.
Let me tell you this was one of my favorite dining experiences in Midtown.
This is a great little restaurant tucked away in the garment district all by itself. The staff was very attentive and you get this great bruschetta appetizer right when you sit down....(before you order your drinks.... I know!)
While we were picking out a wine we were introduced to the man who owns the bar and Naples woman who is the chef. The owner is originally from Rome and it certainly shows through on the food and decor.
While I was there I felt like I had traveled back to Rome to have a romantic dinner with my wife. The food, service and wine recommendations were excellent.
If you want a nice relaxing meal with good food and good people, you should go here.

Pros: The best in midtown

Cons: small place

.

This midtown family-owned restaurant offers great, Family-style Southern Italian food in a warm, friendly environment. Loved the veal, fish, and chicken dishes. Also, a great Italian wine list. Check it out!
