I love this place. The drink menu is really terrific -- I always have a tough time deciding what to get, but I've enjoyed everything I've gotten here. I came here once when they were making every cocktail in the savoy cocktail book -- you just point to the page. If you prefer beer or wine, they have great local selections. There is sometimes a bit of a wait for food, but you can have a cocktail while you wait so the time goes by fast! The drinks here are just as good as those at bourbon and branch, but it's not as pretentious -- no password required!

The Alembic could easily feel pretentious but it's not. The regular cocktail menu is great, there's something for everyone whether you're partial to bourbon, gin, or vodka. If you're lucky enough to catch them on a Savoy Cocktail Book night, you're in for a treat with hundreds of cocktails to choose from. Best Manhattan in SF!

The alembic is a great bar on Haight that has an interesting assortment of food and snacks. Their drinks are a bit pricey so the bill can add up quickly. It has a great atmosphere though and you feel very welcome

Imagine the surliest, velvet rope guarding, vapid meathead bouncer from some Miami or LA nightclub. Shrink him down to a 5'3'' chick with a bullring nosejob and you got yourself an Alembic

Although this is basically an adult venue, my husband and I recently took our daughter and 5 nicely dressed girlfriends there for a 17th birthday treat. We were seated in the L-shaped booth. Our waitress was very informative about the

The drinks are outrageously high for what you get. The music is drab and sleepy. Step it up Alembic!

Editorial from

An atmosphere of gritty, bluesy cool pervades this small but sophisticated bar and small-plates restaurant. Hard-working bartenders generate cocktails with names like the Jack Rose, Blood and Sand and a turn-of-the-century rye whiskey…
