If you are looking for a yoga studio in Westchester, look no further! I was a dedicated member there for about 5 years until moving to CT. a few weeks ago. I have tried several studios in my area and nothing comes close to the great

This is a serious studio with highly trained, professional instructors and classes that run from 75 to 90 minutes. This is for people who already know they like yoga and have or wish to develop a dedicated practice. I am grateful to have this studio as a resource in my area. In response to the 1 star review that says this is for aging, wealthy, elitist women, 1) everyone is aging, 2) it is fair to say that most people in Westchester are wealthy by comparison to most every other county in the USA and 3) if there is elitism perceived, it may be because yoga practitioners don't chit chat much. The instructors are loving and open-hearted and I see lots of people hugging (including men).

Mostly a club for wealthy, elite, aging women who want an experience that leaves them feeling spiritually and physically superior. Instructors are for the most part the same. I was under the impression that yogic practice also was meant to elevate the mind and soul. However, I found the kind of egotism, arrogance & superficiality involved in this place is in direct conflict with that aspiration. Avoid this place if you have higher goals than a "buff bod" and pseudo spirituality.

You can "take a yoga class" just about anywhere these days. At Yoga Works you get much more than that. You are part of a program carefully designed to help you reach your own potential. Most teachers are great about offering modifications for different levels of student. There is lots of personal attention and encouragement. As a novice, I appreciate that here you do not get teachers who randomly try to shove you into new poses; everything is carefully prepared to avoid injury and help you grow. The atmosphere is one of devotion to practice, which helps a student focus and creates a peaceful atmosphere. I drive by quite a few yoga schools to take class here but I consider this well worth it. There are extra workshops in meditation and other topics, as well as prenatal and Mommy and Me classes. The studio is spacious and if you position your mat correctly you will be able to view the Hudson during warrior poses. ;-) Do arrive a bit early so you can find parking along the street. If you like you can also take class at several different Manhattan locations and find the same great teaching and continuity. I am so glad I discovered Yoga Works.
