LaScala's website boasts a quote from the Philadelphia Daily News stating that "At LaScala's you'll feel as if you're at grandma's Sunday talbe." Grandma's Sunday table? You have got to be kidding! I think I am going to be sick! After reading that, I am honestly quite offended. With the terrible service that this restaurant gives, I know that my grandmother would be disgusted. When we visited, we were seated promptly, which is a good start. Unfortuantely, that's where the good faded. After sitting unattended by anyone for a unreasonable amount of time, our server tossed a basket of bread onto the table in a rude fashion, not courteous, and then dissappeared a sort of cowardly fashion. Finally we placed our order, after which our salads did not arrive until the rest of our dinner, which was not a very classy gesture by any means especially given the long wait. A good server would state that "You're salads will be right out" or at least if there is a delay, stop by the table and state "Folks we're running a bit behind tonight, I'm sorry, we haven't forgotten you. Your meals will be right out. In the meantime, can I get anyone any more drinks?" We asked for more bread, and I was hoping to have at least three beers, however our server was absent. As we sat there I began to realize that we had happened upon a real lousy employee, one who was disgraceful and disrespectful. To make matters worse, we are regular customers. The manager ended up being the one to apologize and offered a free drink, but the server did nothing. He eventually did apologize but this was after the fact and seemed insincere. The overall tone of the service was offensive and sloppy, like a lousy dive of a bar, rather than Grandma's Sunday Table. We tipped zero dollars. I have never tipped anyting less than twenty percent at a restaurant, and to giv an idea of how bad the service was, I have never tipped zero dollars at a restaurant, ever.
Pros: Average food and that's about it.
Cons: ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!
