Honestly, the restaurant looks a little questionable from the outside but my husband and I decided to give it a try anyway. I'm glad we did because the food was good and the server was nice. However when it came time to use our Scoutmob

My wife and I were so sad when Rose of India was closed for renovations, and we were worried that the economy had caused Atlantans to lose this gem of a restaurant. Lucky for us, it has now reopened, and we couldn't wait to go back for

Have been to this place quite a few times before and always wondered why we never see Indian folks at a Indian restaurant especially when it serves real good food... But I guess I have found out the answer over the last few visits...

I'm not sure if its the entire management or if its just some people who work there that are RACIST. Over the past few times we have never got the complimentary appetizers that they serve while some WHITE customers right next table are always offered the same. 1st couple of times we ignored it thinking it might be a 1-time error but this has now happened waaaay toooooo many times to be some mistake. Even today when this same thing happened we went to the front desk to talk about it to the manager, who immediately recognized us as regular patrons, but seemed least bit bothered about the issue. Finally, frustrated by the managers attitude we decided to just leave out food and walk out of the place and NEVER return back.

We would DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND this place to any sane human being on this planet earth!!!

I've been going to this place for quite sometime and current owner is doing a much better job than the old owner did. I've seen some people are saying the meat dishes weren't good or the vegi dishes weren't up to the standard, but I think even the finest restaurants can have a bad day or two as far as cooking goes. So far, I've not had any bad experience there and I eat frequently. I've sent some of the co-workers there and they are hooked to their chiken tikka masala dish. The staffs are friendly and easy going and they take it easy and don't give you the rush feelings when you are ordering. Over all great food, good price and friendly service. I know the interior pinkish color is a bit odd, but I'm there to eat not to judge the color or the paintings on the wall. :)

This place is amazing!! My husband and I love Indian food, being British we have been to many Indian restaurants (its our national cuisine!), so we have very high standards for Indian food. This place is a small hidden Gem in Atlanta, the dishes are always fresh, hot and delicious. They spice up the food at request. The waiting staff are always friendly and helpful. The decor is funny, and the place is very small, but we have been there with groups of around 16-20 and they served all of us quickly with the same great standard of food, and all of our friends love this place too. Highly recommended.

Oh. My. God. No, seriously, you need to get in your car and drive to Rose of India right now. The food here is insanely good, and it's CONSISTENTLY good. Every single time I go I'm blown away at how tasty and delicious their food is. Papadums--can't get enough of their crispy, cumin-y excellence. Their naan bread--piping hot and pillowy. Their basmati rice is delicious enough to eat all by itself, but that would be a crime. Because their curry dishes--particularly the RIDICULOUSLY TENDER AND RICH lamb curry--is to die for. And the prices are wonderfully low, so you'll be able to go back often (and you'll want to, believe me.) Get the lamb curry and fall in love.

DO NOT GO HERE! We are Northern Indians ourselves...and because of the reviews we read, we thought we'd try this place out... First and foremost, the prices are high for the QUALITY of food you get... We orderd an appetizer, the Mixed Platter, and our main meal...Butter Chicken, Lamb Korma, Naan and Daal (side order portion) for our son...and EVERYTHING was HORRIBLE. The Butter Chicken was SWEET and so was the Lamb Korma...the Daal didn't taste like anything...and if you go to any other Indian restaurant, these items by far are not sweet...so, needless to say, what we were expecting to eat...was not all what we got...

I don't mind paying extra if the food is great...but I don't know how in the world people pay the ridiculous prices at this place... Our bill at this place was $50 for crappy food!

Let's just say that when the waiter came to gather our plates, my almost 2 year old son said, YUCKY dinner! Can't argue with that!

We were so excited about going to 'Rose of India' The expectations were high and we were disappointed. The single star we are granting is for decor and cleanliness. But the food was the reason of the visit, and it was not up to the indian standard, in our opinion.
I ordered butter chicken and my partner ordered the Lamb Bhuna. The Butter chicken was so lame... oh! my sadness when they came back with an absolutely plain/sweet yogurt-curry sauce and some pieces of chicken. My previous experiences with Butter Chicken were with a rich yogurt-curry sauce spiced up with herbs and flavorful without been sweet. The Lamb Bhuna sauce was acceptable (it had the herbs I was expecting on the Butter chicken really) but the lamb itself was not as tender tender as it should have been.
I am afraid we are not going back to Rose of India...

I've had Indian food from London to Nairobi and this is the best tandoori I've ever had. Fast friendly service and the ambiance is funky/comfortable. Highly recommended. My favorite is chicken tikka.

There is no Indian restaurant that does not have a 4 / 4.5 star review. Pl be careful. We are an unethical breed of people and inflate our ratings. Least realising that all indian restaurants end up being 4.5 on 5. Pl use word of mouth and personal discretion to visit all of these restaurants.

I wish health and happiness in yr experimentation with food.

i guess the chef must work 7 days a week OR they just have several excellent chefs ! food ALWAYS prepared the same, i have visited there some 5 times and never have i been disappointed in the quality of the dining experience. the entrees are priced extremely reasonable and most can be shared by two unless you are just incredibly hungry ;) . they let you bring your own bottle of wine even ! which is a blessing as their own wine offerings leave a lot to be desired. as far as the food choices : the selection is broad and a variety of indian cuisines are represented. THEY WILL SERVE YOU LIKE YOU ARE A MAHARAJAH (KING) better customer care I have never found at a indian restaurant :) if you dont go anyplace else, go here !!!

The place was good, very decent service and food was ok.
I ate chicken biriyani and looked instant mix, and was ok. But the naan was the best naan that I have ever eaten.

I love Indian food it is my second favorite type of food, My first being sushi. So my family and I decided we wanted Indian tonight so we started looking on the web and we found Rose of India. We drove up there and we sat down and started to eat. The food was very good but it was not as spicy as I like it to be. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala on in between medium and hot and it was not very spicy. So if you like Spicy but not too spicy of Indian food I would go to Himaylaya Indian restaurant.

Yeah and I have been to quite a few of them too! The lamb briany is some of the best I've ever had. Their fish masala & chicken vindaloo is awesome too, although the vindaloo could be a bit more spicy. If you are vegetarian, then check out their vegetable selections; the sag paneer is too die for. Also, don't forget the very flavorful samosas & naan bread.

Even though there are a couple of Indian restaurants close to my house, I always drive the extra few miles to Rose of India. Their food just can't be beat. Oh yeah and the staff is a big plus! Always smiling & friendly which makes you feel more welcome.

I love Indian food, and I've been searching for a good Butter Chicken in Atlanta but have yet to find it. I must say that nevertheless, this place was good. The ingredients are high quality, and the delivery was really fast. The samosas were awesome, and the naan bread had good flavor. I'll definitely try them again.

Pros: Fast Delivery, Good Quality Ingredients

Cons: Can't speak for ambience, never been inside

.

The inside is a little bizarre with the pink mirrored walls, but it's comfortable enough. The service is a little standoffish, but I think it's because they don't want you to feel rushed or interrupted. They are very friendly. They are also very accomodating. My boyfriend is vegan, and they will prepare veggie dishes for him without yogurt or heavy cream. He loves the aloo sag. I typically like lentil and chickpea dishes, but the ones here aren't as good as some elsewhere. The dal is heavy on the butter. The chicken tikka masala is very good, and the chicken vindaloo is the best I've had. Their rice and nan are perfect. If you're a vegetarian/vegan who has grown tired of MSB's terrible service, give this place a try.

*I wouldn't call the ambience romantic, but on our last visit we observed a couple that seemed to disagree with us. The pair, who looked like characters from a mobster B movie, huddled together and kissed in one of the booths throughout our entire meal.

I have tried various Indian restaurants around Atlanta and Decatur and as a whole I would say the food here is as good as there is in Atlanta. Every kind of bread that I've had, puri, naan, etc. has been just wonderful. The veggie samosas are a little bland. In terms of "heat", the restaurant seems to have a default setting for its dishes that is a little conservative for my taste, but I have a preference for more spice and heat than most. For example, I've had mutter paneer at several places around town and while the heat level varies from place to place, the version they serve here is almost devoid of heat but the result is a very creamy, comfort-food kind of entree which is enjoyable on its own terms. Similarly, their vendaloos are a little on the mild side. I'm sure you can ask them to tweek the spices to your taste once you get a fix on how particular dishes are prepared if you don't say anything. The service is just great-very, very friendly, which for some reason doesn't always seem to be the case in Indian restaurants around town. They now serve beer and wine. It's a pretty small place and while the interior is fine like most of the Indian places around here you go for the food not the ambiance. Based on my repeat visits, the reviews criticizing the meat dishes are just dead wrong-I've had lamb and chicken dishes and IMO for this strata of restaurant they were excellent.

I am a big fan of Indian cooking , henc I happened to visit this place once. Btw, Before I review a place I visit it atleast thrice to confirm the opinion I have formed.
This place is excellent for vegetarian delicacies like Baingan , Paneer and other vegetables but when it comes to meat dishes like beef , this place trips big time..
If this place was a complete vegetarian restaurant , I am sure their patron size would have been twice what it is now. It seems the meat they use is either not of good quality or it is old and frozen which makes it horrible.
But if you are a fan of vegetarian food, they are surprisingly pretty good and the other plus about them is that they have a decent and courteous staff.
I wouls stick to vegetable dishes If I would visit this place again.
Obviously people who have visit this restaurant for meat dishes have no clue how the real thing tastes ;-)

I was very much impressed by some reviews here and decided to visit this place. But the food was a complete washout. I ordered Chicken Naan, Kheema Naan and some Chicken Curry.
All three were a total disaster. The chicken Curry had dehydrated peices of "chicken" and the kheema naan tasted like believe-it-or not, "Horse" meat ( Not that I know how Horse Meat tastes!!)
My friend was a vegetarian and he ordered a garlic naan and a Paneer Makanvala, which was surprisingly pretty good. Wish I too would have stuck to vegetarian dish.
Staff is good and they listened to my complaint well ( but still charged me for all three of my dishes)
Hopefully they improve with time.

I can't believe what the previous 2 diners said! I've probably eaten there about 10 times now, and I've tried numberous Chicken and Lamb dishes - every one has been cooked to perfection! Their meat is always tender and juicy, and their sauces are always so smooth and flavorful. There is nothing not to love about their food. I highly recommend that people try this place!! Recommended: Butter Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Korma, Shrimp Curry, Eggplant Bharta, Onion Bhajee, Chicken Tikka, Garlic Parmesan Naan, Vegetable Biryani.

I'm ecstatic to find a quality Indian restaurant in Brookhaven. This restaurant stars in consistency - I've never had a bad meal there. The Chicken Tikka Masala is rich and creamy, the Eggplant Bharta is utterly complex and divine, and the Biryanis are aromatic. The owners are friendly, and the service is great. They fall flat in the dessert arena - don't waste your time. The ambience is somewhat lacking - a typical Indian restaurant with bad decor and even worse music. But you can ignore all of that because your tastebuds will be too focused on the food!

Pros: Food, Inexpensive

Cons: Ambience, Music

.

Great food, many choices for veg dishes. It is not BYOB as the website suggests. Food had a homey touch to it.

Pros: Great food, price and service

Cons: Small sitting

This restaurant is far from being fancy when it comes to its decor, general ambience, location, etc.
It is modest and common for typical family owned like Indian restaurants.
But don't let this confuse you... if you like Indian food, you are in the right place!
The staff was very friendly and the food arrived on time and exactly as we asked it to be (more/less spicy).
With no exaggeration, everything we ordered was great and tasted delicious. I want to mention the tender chicken tandoori, the excellent lamb vindaloo and the Naan. We also had some vegetable dishes that were very good but I can't remember the names...
I've been in several Indian restaurants around the world, my favorite one is in London and now I'm also adding Rose of India (here in Atlanta) to the top of the list.

The food is great. We have two small kids, so we weren't going out for Indian very often. Now we have it once a week.

My wife likes the Butter Chicken. I like the Chicken Vindaloo. Their naan bread is really good. We've never been inside the restaurant, and probably never will. :-)

Delicious! While it looks like a dive from the outside, this is actually a really nice Indian restaurant with attentive servers and delicious food. I have eaten Indian food all over the U.S. and the world and this is truly the best I have ever had. The prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of the food you get. I went for lunch and enjoyed a delicious dal soup and the best chicken tikka masala ever.

I highly recommend it if you're looking for yummy Indian food!

My husband and I recently visited Rose of India on Peachtree for dinner. We were very
impressed with the service and food. The Tikki Masala is the best I've had in a long time.
Prices are reasonable and it looks like they have great lunch deals. They deliver too! Nice addition to Brookhaven. We will be back.

Pros: Yummy made to order Indian food. Delivers.

Cons: Can't think of any except they don't serve alcohol. I think they are getting their license soon

This Chamblee kitchen stars in consistency. Vegetarian dishes, like sag dal, spinach with split peas, and roasted, pureed eggplant bharta are fragrant and satiating. Sizzling meat platters from the tandoor are moist and…
