We went to Lucky Strike for New Years Eve, thinking it would be cool to do something different. When we got there, we were told that in order to bowl, you had to have a reservation (this was not told to me when I called to inquire nor when I purchased the tickets). Turned out that there were only 12 lanes open that night and the people that had reserved the lanes, weren't even using them. This was a huge disappointment as our new years was spent at lucky strike by drinking, eating appetizers, and watching a bunch of younger people make drunken fools of themselves. it could have been worse, but again, a disappointment as we had plans to bowl. Evidently, this isn't the place to go bowling, it's more of a party/drinking hall. Good to know for the next time we're in town.

I went to lucky strikes in Philly while visiting my younger sister at school. we went in mid afternoon, and had the whole family (mom, dad, sister (19), me, and 9 year old little brother). We were able to go right in and bowl. They had food choices that all of us liked (burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches, pizza, etc...) so everyone was happy.Overall, its a great family place during the day (but i hear it gets a little wild after dark ).

Lucky's is a neighborhood bar/bowling alley which is located in the University of Penn Campus. Its not a big alley but has a few lanes. It usually draws an outside crowd with minimal problems.

Walking into Lucky Strikes bowling lanes is like stepping back in time. You really feel like you're back in the 1950's. You can wait a little for a lane but the experience is cool. The decorations and the music makes it a worth while trip into the city. Very busy on the weekends.

Lucky Strike has so much potential. But the Management ruin the experience for their own paying guests. They are moody and rude. The place was nearly empty. We were practically the only folks there. And yet we could not get any attention. We had numerous technical glitches with our lanes. It was exhausting reporting the errors again and again. Pins failing to reset, ball jams, failure for the guards to go up. Failure of the balls to return. The food is horrible too. Service is totally inexperienced and angry. People that bowl are usually fun, laid back, happy go lucky. The staff here are angry. They do not smile. Do not create a fun atmosphere you would expect. Expensive & very poor management. I am not referring to the wait staff or cashier. I am referring to the MANAGEMENT. Lacks necessary leadership and customer service skills necessary for the job.

They've got it right - a great combination of retro-chic and modern amenities makes for a great time at Lucky Strike. Perfect for corporate events and birthday parties - the appetizer menu is superb and the combination of good food, good drinks, and bowling makes for a very, very good time!
