Avoid this place 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Let me give you reasons why you should avoid this place:
1. They replaced a drivers-side view mirror on a car I had. Not till I was stuck in an ice storm did I find that only the passenger mirror was usable. They didn't hook up the wires for heating element on the new mirror. They were sloppy;
2. If you need a NY state inspection, you better be a regular customer or they will tell you that "the machine is broken today." I know, because I was there dropping off my car for an inspection when they turned away some young guy in a Jeep with that excuse.
3. They don't just charge a premium price, they charge prices that are totally absurd. For example, they charged me $500+ just for the labor (forget about the bloated parts costs) to replace a fuel filter, air filter and do an oil change. Harvey seemed to think that by describing this as "major service," justified this money. Naturally, they don't break out the hours or hourly rate because that would give you ammunition to argue with this nonsense.
4. They called me and said they couldnt work on my car the day they had it and that they would have to keep it overnight. When I picked it up the next day, I realized that there were ~25 extra miles on the odometer. I ask Harvey what's this about. He said matter-of- factly that his partner probably drove it home to test it out. What!&^%$#? I just got some filters replaced, not the transmission. Besides, there is no justification for using customer cars for your evening commute, especially with premium at $5 a gallon. These people are brazen and shameless.
Lastly, they lost their lease and will be soon g up to a place in the east 90s. Needless to say, you can get equally cruddy work for a lot less money.

rare non-idiot car repair! 5 Star Rating - World class

Finally, an INDEPENDENT high end car repair place that actually knows what it's doing. Look around the garage and you will see all ages of Bentleys, Rollses, Mercedes and other rare birds, like classic Lincoln suicide-door converts, meaning that their owners believe that this place can fix them. Note, this expertise doesn't come cheap, so bring your best credit card. But consider the location and the countless trips saved to other places that are staffed with orangutang idiots or which just want to sell you parts. Beware especially certain dealers where the repair staff is rewarded on parts sales! SCCL immediately recgnized a problem I had that had baffled at least two other "authorized dealers". Talk to Harvey.

Pros: knowledge knowledge knowledge
Cons: not a fancy, operating-room shop, no place to sit down to wait - no chairs!
