As the only restaurant in the city offering traditional yakitori, Mizu has a strong hold on diners who favor authentic Japanese Cuisine. The contemporary design, optimal for large groups and celebrations, offers a festive and lively atmosphere with a peaceful decor. Diners are encouraged to enjoy and savor the process of eating with plentiful yakitori-Japanese Sumi or Grilled Skewers. Creativity and innovation are fortes of Mizu's head chef, who was trained in Japan and has over 40 years of experience. Our lounge is now open until 2am on weekends, you can chill, enjoy a sake bomb, or both.

I tend to bring people who swear they're not sushi eaters to the Mizu Yakitori Sushi place. Everyone always finds something they like here and will often ask me when I'm returning. Really good quality food.

BEST GRILLED YAKITORI
by erikturn
MY GIRL FIREND AND I WENT THERE ON WEEKDAY MOSTLY. THERE WAS NOT TOO CROWDED. WE ALWAYS HAVE THE YAKI TORI, AND THEY HAVE THE BEST GRILLED BEEF SKEWER IN TOWN. IT'S MARINATED, AND TASTY.
Pros: YAKITORI

I will be back!
by kwakey
I consider myself a sushi snob and after eating at Mizu I have yet another good sushi place in Chicago I'll be back to. This is also a great place to take friends who don't like sushi and want something else on the menu because it is diverse and there's a lot to choose from if you don't care for sushi. The hamachi, maguro and white tuna nigiri were personally my favorites...also try the hot mushroom salad. Very reasonably priced and I'll be back again.
Pros: Great service, Good atmosphere
Cons: Parking

Average food in this trendy spot.

I definitely had to try this place out when I first heard of a Yakitori place opening up in Chicago. Mizu offered excellent service in a visually appealing environment. However, the Yakitori did not qualify as a traditional japanese yakitori establishment. I've been spoiled after splurging at places like Yakitori Taisho in NYC maybe thats why Mizu's selection of Yakitori seems like just pieces of "premium" cuts of meat on a stick. The chicken meatball wasn't even a meatball, just one long piece of meat that my friend and I had to cut up to share. Overall, the highlight of a restaurant should be the food and their idea of Yakitori definitely misses the target.
Pros: Service, Decor
Cons: Food
