2 Stars: Overrated. (by gauravpr)

I went there for my wife's bday 2 weeks ago. The service was fine but the food was ok. In my opinion Mint is quite overrated on CitySearch. I am not a fan of the dim, green ambiance, but I would discount this as personal choice. Given the ratings, I guess my expectation were set quite high. An excellent Indian restaurant in the neighborhood would be Bukhara Grill on 49th betn 2nd & 3rd (Reserve a table upstairs, its much nicer).

5 Stars: Great Food (by foodicted)

I bumped into this restaurant and went in for dinner. The food was simply amazing. They also had an amazing wine list. Our server suggested Lamb Chops which came with a green sauce and were delicious.

5 Stars: A Great Place! (by sjayl)

We went to Mint last night and had a really great time. The food was the highlight. There was a cauliflower app that was just delicious. I would suggest you try something in the cashew sauce. It was amazing. The decor is really nice and the service very professional.

1 Stars: DEFF NOT WORTH IT! (by AshishM84)

I will just sum it up... Mint is not a place to get authentic Indian food. The place is very nice, no doubt about that,BUT the food is horrible. It came out cold and just did not have any taste to it. all the curries tasted the same. It is also way too expensive for what you get. The service is just OK. If you want authentic Indian there are many places near mint.

The Mint have a very nice ambiance that will appeal to people who enjoy wine and dine. The food is good but not great. There is also a bar in the restaurant.

4 Stars: Authentic Indian Cuisine (by sharmagirl)

Mint was very enjoyable. I made reservations for a Saturday night although it was not crowded upon arrival. I had the chicken and scallops entree with a spicy green sauce infused with mint which was amazing. Also, alot of their food is entertained by the whole theme of "the mint leaf." I definitely had a few mojitos as well which were quite nice. I would suggest this for a l;arge group or a date. Good time, good food.

5 Stars: Delicious food! (by pearlypg)

I love Mint - it is one of my 3 favorite Indian restaurants in the city. The food is delicious - not too bland (I usually get spicy), and not too heavy. I highly recommend this place for fine dining. It is a bit pricey, and the ambience is good but a bit dark. I wish it was closer to my place so that I could get frequent delivery.

5 Stars: Among the top 3 Indian restaurants in the city (by RYNYC)

I've been to Mint often and continue going there. I am from India and went there recently with my family, and we all unanimously agreed it was the best Indian food in the city currently. I say currently as the consistency of Indian restaurants in the city varies considerably. Try the lamb chops here, they really are to die for.

2 Stars: service not as good as i thought it would be. (by snikd)

The food was nothing special that it would've been and I think that the food had to do with the mint flavor. the kids wouldnt enjoy that much of the mint flavor in the drinks and food. The service was okay and it took me a while to get seated. By the way next time only have indian spices and foods on the menu because the american food didnt blend in with the indian culture.

4 Stars: Super (by Htompkin)

This place is great! I give it 4.5 stars.

We had the chicken samosas, lamb vindaloo, Goan fish curry, rosemary naan, tamarind rice, and rasmalai (homemade cheese ball cakes with syrup).

All of the food was absolutely delicious! The samosas were a little small, but still tasty and crispy, and was accompanied with mint and tamarind chutneys. The lamb vindaloo was a "traditional spicy Goan-style" and was quite spicy (which I'm not very fond of) but still very good. The fish came in a delicious orange curry sauce that was SO YUMMY, especially when sopped up with the warm, fluffy, rosemary naan (by the way, I LOVE NAAN!) =). The tamarind rice was quite good and interesting (I've never had tamarind rice before). The rasmalai for dessert was sweet, but not too sweet like other Indian desserts I've had.

The decor is very modern and elegant, with red and orange lighting. Service is very attentive.

It's a little pricier than other Indian restaurants I've been to, but worth it!

5 Stars: Indian food is a must try!!! (by labronjames33)

On my recent trip to NY, I stayed at W Hotel. The concierge recommended Mint and made reservations for me. It was my first experience of Indian food. The server suggested me Chicken Xacuti (I believe I spelt it right) which was very delicious. The Indian wine complemented the food very well. The decor and the music was outstanding and I highly recommend Indian food and Mint.

5 Stars: Love the Nilgiri!! (by GJack67)

I hardly cook at home which means i eat out alot. I discovered Mint online and decided to dine there. To start off we ordered a bottle of Sancere. It was chilled and tasted excellent. We trusted our server with the order. He recommended great appetizers and entrees. The Lamb Nilgiri was great and well presented. I highly recommend the Lamb Chops as well. With a great decor, music and service, they shall see me agian.

2 Stars: Bad Service / OK Food (by ap5361)

We went to this restaurant on 3/15 - Saturday. I did not like our waiter at all. He was rude and abrupt. The food was good but quantity wise it wasn't good. We tried the Mango Mojito. Not good at all!! I would stick with Beer or Wine. The wine glass starts from $8 a glass and Taj Beer - 24 oz is only $10. We had ordered Paneer Tikka Masala, not authentic at all. I would not reccomended it. Their malai kofta was really good.

Whenever I go to a restaurant, I look for the overall experience. No matter how good the food is, if the service is not good then the whole experience is waste of money for me. I will not go back to this restaurant.

5 Stars: A True Fine Dine!! (by jjflyer)

Mint by far is the best restaurant I have ever dined at. For me my dinner meal has to be admirable if it is at a fine dine. I was advised to make a reservation and I did. We had a party of 3 and arrived early. After having a few dinks we were seated in the dining section. The appetizers were amazing specially the Shesh Kababs. For Main course we had the famous Chicken Tika Masla a spinach dish and Goat. We had to wait for our food but that is a standard for any fine dine. Our server was excellent and suggested scrumptious items off the menu for which we tipped him well. I will definitely recommend mint to every one and they shall see me again.

I was very dissapointed after my visit to Mint, i had good reviews from people and checked out the reviews online. the waiting took forever we had a reservation for 7 we were not seated until 7 :40ish. basically it was a waste of our 40 minutes. The service was very slow as it took them 10 mins just to get our drink and starter order. the food took forever to come out and it was just average the chicken kababs were just ok. Dinner was just not worth it. i would not reccomened mint. The only good part of mint is its look and its bar

5 Stars: Satisfying! (by eatinny)

I went with my husband last night. What a pleasant experience! We were a half hour late and although they were busy, they didn't seem bothered by it at all. The hostess was gracious and sat us right away. Our waiter didn't have the best personality, but he did his job. Another waiter (I believe his name is Anwar) was great though! He was nice, made recommendations, asked if we were satisfied with our choices - truly sincere. I had the Chicken Kali Mirch and my husband had the Lamb Chili. I don't usually eat lamb, but he made me try it, and it was really good. All in all we were satisfied. The only issue I had was our waiter was talking to one of the busboys about us in an obvious way not even 3 feet from the table. I couldn't understand what they were saying, but they didn't look like they were saying nice things. Once the busboy caught my eye, he walked away from the waiter, but the waiter was unfazed (he really irked me). We didn't let this ruin the experience, though. All in all, an unexpected satisfying find.

5 Stars: Best Drinks, Great Service, Nice Decor, Make reservations (by nydilruba)

I've been here a few times and hasn't failed us yet. Make reservations especially if you're going with a large group of friends...ask them for the back room. The room has it's own TV, seating for about 8 people. The drinks here are really nice and different with an Indian touch. Food is really nice, Mint has a great staff, and I love the decor. Great place to go with friends or just on a nice evening out.

4 Stars: Solid Indian (by charlesmstam)

Eating at Mint is always a pleasure. The food is pretty compelling, the service is up to par and friendly, and the menu options are extensive. The blue decor is interesting, although not for everyone. Plus, it is a relative bargain when you consider the location and the quality of the food. Having eaten at the best Indian restaurants in New York, I would say Mint is not traditional or formal. Rather it is a youthful and chique look at Indian cuisine. And the formula delivers, although I imagine it won't suite the purists well.

5 Stars: Wonderful colors & lighting! (by hammernet)

Wow! This little spot tucked just below eye level from the street is a nice find. You walk in and are greet by trickling water from a natural-esk waterfall. Next what hits you is the glowing "mint" like green light and the decorative, almost festive style of this joint. Glowing window frames, glowing light from pictures, and mutli-colored lamp shades set off your eyes.

We ordered just apps and a couple drinks. The Vodka & Tonic came unusually strong, so if you like a little tonic with your Vodka it was just right. We also ordered their "Celebrity Bellini" with thick mango puree, champagne which was think and yummy but lacked much sparkling or zing.

The apps we ordered were all from the miniture bar menu. They were delivered deliciously displayed and full of great aroma and flare. I would highly recommend the: Chicken Malai Kabab, the chicken was moist and succulent and very well flavored. Our friendly male server also recommended a spicy shrimp dish not on the bar menu which was drizzled with red hot chili puree and delivered really great heat but not overbearing the natural tender flavor of the fleshy shrimp, which came delicately garnished with slivered carrot.

All-in-all a great experience and one I would recommend for taking a first or second date - definitely has romantic appeal!

5 Stars: Excellent food, great ambiance, and outstanding service! (by tra10021)

We organized a dinner party at Mint, and I have to say that the entire process from start to finish was simple and flawless. First and foremost, the service was outstanding. The food is the best Indian I have ever had (and I should note that Indian is my favorite food), probably the most helpful service I've ever experienced, the decor is very cute / trendy, and the environment was wonderful. The entire restaurant joined in as we were singing "happy birthday". I absolutely love this restaurant!!

5 Stars: BEST food ANYWHERE !!! (by marcusflo)

After reading the reviews and watching Chef Gary's video here on citysearch we decided to dine at Mint. I cudnt miss the outstanding decor the place had inspite of being an Indian restaurant. Gary was very helpful and helped us order food that suited our taste. The Lamb chops were extremely delicious and juicy.. Far better than any other lamb chops iv ever had. My friends were amazed with the variety of wine they had.. we decided to go with an Indian wine for the day. The food at Mint was outstanding and to add the cherry on top.. our parking was validated. Bravo!

5 Stars: Shud have made that reservation (by j_ree)

I went to this restaurant after being told highly of it by my associates at work and relatives. I am a recurrent diner and have tried pretty much everything in the City. However i was surprised that i had missed out on such an astounding place. The food was simply remarkable and the place had an incredible ambience. The music was perfect which complemented the food, wine decor and the service. I was told to make reservations but since I had not been to Mint I decided not to. On a Monday night I had to wait 40 mins for a table. But at the end the wait was well worth it. Mint definitely earns its merits through its service and an amazing decor. I personally felt that the prices as a New Yorker were fair and was amazed to see a lot of tourists hanging out at the spot. Mint is definitely on my favorite list. Try it out.

4 Stars: Elegant Indian Dining (by mtcc)

Upon arrival, I was instantly impressed with the decor very classily elegant. We were seated promptly (but it was a Monday night). We noticed right away a couple of tables of Indian diners, which impressed us more. Our wait staff was courteous, polite and attentive. I was impressed with their wine list, bottles ranging from ultra affordable to expensive, wtih not much of a mark up. The food selection was vast and everything sounded delicious. The wine list and bar dining menu were elegantly presented in nice menu holders and nicely printed. Our dinner menus, however, were folded paper labeled "wines" with the pages folded and placed inside. It was a lack of attention to detail. The prices were a little high for Indian food. We live in the East Village, near "Curry Row" (6th Street) so we are usually not spending much for Indian food. The price difference is reflected in the space, the service and the food. Everything was lovely. The food was a tatse extravaganza. We had a lamb dish, a fish dish, an chicken croquette appetizer, and an ocra dish. Each was as great as the other. The spicy sauces were not so overbearing that you couldn't enjoy the other spices. The portions were nively sized and presented. The fish was fesh. We were so full that we couldn't try the desserts, but there's always next time. Oh, we also were left to take our time, something the "Curry Row" places discourage strongly.

5 Stars: My favorate!! (by foodgums)

Mint is by far my favorate restaurant ever. When i stepped in for the first time it certainly didnot look like an Indian restaurant. I was born and brought up in U.K which is why i love Indian food. This place has an excellent food and the decor compliments it very well. The service is extra ordinary as the chef him self is on the floor to help you order what you like. I definately recommend Mint to every one of you.

Well i dono abt these journalistic speculations lol.. but iv been to Mint alot and am quite happy with their food and service. Their wine list and cocktails complements their food pretty well. I do recommend the Lamb Chops whenever one goes there.
2 Stars: Bad Customer Service, Look into Reviews... (by fll411)

Went here a week ago expecting to have a great Indian dining experience after reading all of the positive reviews on citysearch. The place was empty which left us questioning why it took forever just to get drinks and for our waiter to come take our food order. Our food was pretty good once it arrived, although it can be easily compared to the other (tons of) indian establishments in the area. After dining here and having it not live up to the reviews, I looked into the reviews more and noticed almost all positive reviews came from people with only one review (for MINT of course). Most of the positive reviews for this place are probably made by the management or owners. Go there and find out, just dont set expectations based upon the reviews here...

4 Stars: Enjoyed my dinner (by windvalley)

I had dinner at Mint on a Friday evening and the place wasnt crowded at all. The food was okay, nothing spectacular. One thing that really struck a cord was the fact that the prices did not include rice, which was extra. I liked the Zentini (pricey at $12 a pop) and the decor and atmosphere were great. I would go there again but probably wouldnt order any alcohol as it is definitely too pricey.
Another thing I just noticed that a few of the extremely positive posts on here are almost the SAME thing, except with different user names...hmmmm....here's a few excerpts from DIFFERENT posters but basically have the same wording, which really make me think that they arent honest opinions at all but fake....FIRST POST:

Me and my wife have been traveled many places around the world. But not only me, even my wife loves indian food. But to be honest, we never had a great dinner than Mint. The ambience and of course the food is just excellent. The Saffron shrimp, which i had was amazing. My wife had the lamb Chops which was very very good. I would highly recommend this restaurant, and have to give the staff and chef a thumb up for creating such a wonderful place.

5 Stars: India and Indians at its best (by roudypipper)

As the review title says i was highly impressed by this indian restaurant i visited yesterday night. As recommended by my friends the reservation was useful since we didnt have to wait for a table like other people did. The restraunts interior is excellently built and sweeps you away from ur feet specially if you are indian ur self. The food was excellent and the cocktail list was great too. The Blue Mojito was nice. This is definately a place where i'l be coming back with friends and family. 10 outa 10

After reading the reviews here at city search and other newspapers, i decided to dine at mint. As usual me and my husband went in without a reservation and i agree with the reviews here it was a mistake. The place was packed and the only option we had was to dine at the bar which was a lot of fun. The bartenders are funny and helpful. They helped me order the food. The chef personally came upto me to make sure what i order is good for my taste. He was very patient in explaining me the ingredients of the dishes in case i had any allergies to the food.. This place is awesome... music, food, service, ambience, water fall, candle light. Its definately my new fav. With the amount of ppl there.. i am sure im not the only one.

This new restra has definately got to be the best indian one around. It definately doesnot look like an average indian restaraunt with god and godesses, curtians, mirrors and all those other contemprary touches which i perticularly dislike. It is more of a trendy restraunt and has every single key to be the best one around. Excellent food, excellent cocktails. The service was fab as the executive chef was on the floor taking care of customers personally.

2 Stars: I felt cheated (by meron1976)

I don't mind paying a lot of money for drinks but I don't like getting ripped off. Like all restaurants, the waiter asked my table if we want still or sparkling water. We asked for still and the waiter proceeded to give us still water but then charged us $12.00 per bottle. THAT IS ABSURD. I paid $48.00 for water. $48.00 for Vodka, ok, but not for water. The food was good, but after paying $48.00 for water I will never go back.

5 Stars: from a customer to a customer (by snakeeyes121)

i live on 49th and lex and have been going to mint since its opening. its intresting to notice how this place is packed all the time and then the further intresting thing is how all the bad reviews recommend the same indian restaurant and go against Mint. LOL. They definately are sitting bored and have nothin better to do since Mint has been stealing their customers. I wont sit here and tell you how great this restaurant is and how bad some restaurant is. In my opinion every one's experience to a place is different. Mine at Mint was so far the best. There is a reason why they were the only indian restaurant to be awarded by Time out magazine NY for 2006 merely being opened for less than a year.

As i was walking by on 50th street between lex and 3rd. i noticed this restaurant from far. As soon as i passed by i knew it was a happening spot. I had to go back and see what was going on. As i looked throught the window i could see evry one in a festive mood. The bar was packed and so was the restaurant. I couldnt resist to go inside and find out what kind of cuisine they served. When the hostess replied Indian i was just shocked. I desided to have dinner and was told by the hostess that they are running busy and she would try to fit me in. I wanted to eat here so bad that i decided to dine at the bar. I was definately not disapointed by the food and being a people and fun person i enjoyed the place to be packed and busy unlike the other regular indian restaurants with uncles and aunties sitting down. I am pround do be indian and i give the owner 2 thumbs up for showing out loud that Indians are not dat backward. 10/10 FOOD, 10/10 Service, 10/10 HIP DECOR.

I dont really bother to review restaurants but this one definately made me. We went here on Tuesday and had no reservations. After a wait for aprox 40 mins, we decided to go some where else as the place was packed and was running only on reservations. We made a reservation for wednesday and were back there yesterday. The number of guests they had explains the kind of food they serve. I was not surprised to fall in love with their food. I have tried a lot of indian restaurants but mint definately stands out from the rest.

I went to mint with couple of my friends for the first time. The place was a bit too flashy for my taste, but we decided to give their food a try. inspite of having only two tables for dinner, our waiter vanished after 5 minutes, busy giggling with the a waitress at the corner.
Waiter forget drinks completely, food portions were tiny, three people had trouble sharing any entree. Its a big problem since we paid a hell lot of money for each entree, and had to order soo many entrees, in order to have a proper dinner, everytime hoping some good flavour in something at least. This place has alot of work to do in order to get regular business.
This place is simply ripping off innoccent customers ?
How will they justify spending that much money on thier tasteless food you can easily get elsewhere.

1 Stars: I wonder who is writing these reviews ???? (by napoli)

We went to dine at mint this friday, sometimes the reviews can really fool you, thats what happened with me, the chicken tikka masala tasted like bland cubes of chicken thrown in a warm tomato ketchup, we were so dissappointed with the food, The lamb dish was so tasteless, hard and super chewy, service seemed very slow too, inspite of being italian & a newyorker, i know good indian food inside out, they barely had a few tables sitting for dinner, they had a few people drinking at the bar.
This place has nice decor, but a little the ceiling is low for the huge lights, my husband is really tall, he had to watch his head all the time. I think this should've been just a night club, food aint their specialty. Go there for a few drinks if you have to, have your dinner elsewhere & remember, they are not inexpensive, at least not for the quality of the food.

5 Stars: New Hot Spot (by rosilicious1212)

Met some friends for dinner last night and we went to Mint as other friends' recommendation; what an awesome recommendation it was. We had a bunch of shrimps, lobster, chicken and salmon. It's safe to say that Mint has a most mouth-watering menu; everything sounds so deliciously edible. I decided on trying the Chicken Coconut soup. The soup was absolutely nothing like what I've ever had before, and I'm quite the food connoisseur. I'm definitely going back to Mint with more friends. I don't remember the last time I've gone to a restaurant and enjoying ALL of the dishes that I ordered. Oh, did I mention they have a very interesting décor and helpful waitstaff? Mint is a definite upcoming hot spot in NYC.

Since we had a reservation getting a table was not a problem. We ordered a bottle of Zinfendel which tasted excellent. For appetizers, as recommended here, we had lamb chops and Seekh Kababs which i definately c the reason to be recomended for. For food we ordered Dal Makhni, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Nilgiri which to my surprise were in a good quantity for a Indian restaurant. After the wonderful dinner we bumped into Justin Timberlake, Lil John and Pitbull right outside. Anyone who is into music would know what level of excitement i was at. This was definately a wonderful experience.

5 Stars: Thank you Citysearch!!!! (by nigop_sraight)

After reading the reviews here at city search i decided to dine at mint with my girlfriend. The only mistake of da nite was that i didnt make a reservation. To my surprise this indian restaurant was packed on a tuesday night. After a lil while we were seated in the booth which i personally found very romantic (The corner booth gives you more privacy ;) HINT HINT). Me and my girl are wine freaks so we ordered a bottle of Shiraz which was just perfect. We couldnt decide on the apps so the server helped us order Lamb Chops and Lobster Masala which were cooked to perfection. For Main course we ordered Lamb Nilgiri, Chicken Tikka Masala and Yellow Spinach. i would give to food 9.9 outa 10 ( Even Lord krishna wouldnt get 10 outa 10 from me hehe). For dessert we ordered Chocolate cake and White rasp choc ice cream which was pretty good as well. I am definately going back to Mint thanks to City search.

The engine has broken down, the conductors are sleeping and the engineers have no clue!
Such poor food, service and detail that one wonders why they opened? Went again after 6 months to give a second try but should have stuck with my original opinion to visit the original trains. This one needs to be sent back to the shed.

5 Stars: WOW!!! (by stan_daman)

i love this place. i have had to wait a few times, but it is so worth it. This is the kind of Indian food is hard to find and Americans used to your standard curry will not know what to order! Tell the staff what kind of things you enjoy and your eating habits (i.e. dairy/non-dairy) and they will make it to your liking. SO GOOD! This is one of the few things I will miss about eating in India! I can't say enough good things about it.

5 Stars: This place will impress! (by himu_jani)

As the old adage goes: You get what you pay for. And this place doesn't disappoint. Mint will impress even the most knit-picky food, with class to spare. The restaurant reflectes against the high level of service and excellent food, it is a value unmatched even by a fire-sale at Louie Vuitton... I have been there more than once, and either I make an impression (probably not) or the wait-staff have excellent recollection. The sushi is superb and the caviar is the best in the business! This place is a must...

5 Stars: A sure WINNER when it comes to food!!! (by j_charlz)

The food is excellent. It is the best Indian restaurant I have been to outside India. Even my mother who just got here from India 3 days ago couldn't believe how good the food was. The service is also a perfect representation of Indian hospitality. I have take both Indian friends as well as those who have not had the luck to visit yet (and some who do not eat spicy food). Everyone loved it. The staff was very accomadating to cater to everyones needs. It got really busy ... this place needs reservations.

Impeccable service. The food was exquisite. Try the lobster, really incredible perfectly done, and with the Indian wine on the menu, a true escape for the palate. Almost too much for one. Mint is truly one of the best Indian culinary experiences Ive had in the city in a long time. Outstanding.

1 Stars: Never again! (by henry_10023)

I had high expectations due to the overwhelmingly positive responses posted here but sadly, I was very disappointed. First they gave me an appetizer menu. After we ordered from it. We were then given a main menu which included some different appetizers (makes no sense). The cauliflower tasted like it was sautéed in ketchup. Another vegi-dish that we received was not salted enough. The rice was dry (how do you screw up rice?) The staff was at first overly attentive and then non-existent. We had great difficulty in getting additional sauces to try to perk up the food. The place was nicely designed but with the flavor-less dishes and a staff that seemed quite inexperienced, it lacked any kind of substance. This restaurant is definitely an example of a place which lives off of a reputation that is undeserved. You can do much better for a lot less money.

MINT is one of the best places to go in Midtown. The service is incredible and the owner really makes you feel like he appreciates your business. An incredible collection of bottles of wine that will fit all budgets. Chef Garry is AMAZING!!! Try the Lamb Chops, Lamb Nilgiri and Chicken Tikka Masala. You can not go wrong with anything on the menu...all served tapas le. If you are not in the mood for wine, the bartender can make some great speciality drinks. Great afterwork spot!

I must say i have been to many restaurants in manhattan.. Mint by far is the best restaurant I have ever been to!! Not only did we love the food but the ambience is fantastic.....In all we had a great experience!

For my 2nd Anniversary my boyfriend surprised me with a Broadway Show and Dinner at Mint. He saw how highly the restaurant was rated on CitySearch and made reservations. We were not disappointed. We were seated promptly and served our drinks quickly. In fact our waiter made the drink recommendations as well as food recommendations. He was right on. The food and service was excellent. The ambiance was so romantic. Candles lit the room and made a great mood. I would go again to Mint in a second.

I'm afraid to tell its best kept secret because then the word will get out and I'll never get a reservation... there is a private room in the back where you can sit , with decor and authentic garb.

Found this place on CitySearch. I hosted a group of friends here, first time visit for all of us to MINT. People, it was AMAZING. A lovely interior, attentive wait staff. Authentic Indian food served with flair. The food was delicious. Actually, it was one of the best I've tried in years. This sentiment was also shared with all the members of my party, some from India itself! The portions and price are very good. They even made something that wasn't on the menu! Wine list is great--we tried an bottle of white from India which was superb. Can't rave enough. Highly recommend this place.

The best nite out that could have happened to me and my girl friend was here at MINT.. I had no reservations cause of which i had to wait for about 15 mins.. but was well worth it...

The food was extra ordinary, different that those other wierd Indian restaraunts i have been to, specially cause of the fact that my girl friend is Indian. I was amazed by the wine list they had. Our server was friendly and helpful and helped us order adiquate amount of food. It was certainly the best night i have had in midtown.

To add a cherry on top, while leaving the restaurant we met P.Diddy and Usher. IT was the first time i had actually encountered a celeb right in front of me.

Thanks for the excellent night out and the lime light ..

1 Stars: WHAT A PITY! (by laurarider)

We went there for dinner on a saturday night and to my suprise the place was totally empty. After reading all these reviews on citysearch, we thought it would have been packed. But maybe they were having a slow night, it began with such delay in getting the menu's, it just didnt feel like anybody really cared about us over there, which was actually very shockiing, they should've been very attentive and warm, so that we leave happy. anyway, then the food came out after almost an hour, we were being very patient, we had the standard chicken tikka masala, but even the food failed to impress us, it was like bland chicken chunks thrown in heated tomato ketchup. I think the tv dinner was a much better, cheaper choice for us. Not recommended what so ever.

While this restaurant has been much advertised with fanfare, I decided to check it out for real along with a client of mine. We were promptly seated, service was good, staff was friendly and food was excellent. They do have the courtesy to ask you how hot or spicy you want your meal to be, which helps as I'm not too familiar with Indian cuisine. Really no complaints on this one, though Im surprised how the previous reviewer had the patience or time to wait over 2 hours for his food. He must have plenty of time at hand!!!

My girlfriend dragged me here last Saturday for our "date night." It was very busy when we got there but the host had us sat after a 10 minute wait. We ordered a mojito and a mango martini and they were delicious. For appetizers we ordered Chicken Samosas and Lasooni Gobi and for main course we ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Pasanda and Saag Paneer they were all just scrumptious. The place was jammed but our server was prompt and friendly. The music selection was great, so we blew off desert and had another round of drinks at the bar. All in all, this place is fantastic and we plan to go back, but I would suggest do make a reservation before going.

Never had such terrible service in Manhattan. We waited half an hour just to get menus, and watched another table of 10 people leave because they had been ignored by the (single) waiter. We got appetizers after 50 minutes. This is such a gem amongst Indian Restaurants with great decor, ambience much like the W Hotel in Times Sq or a upscale South Beach establishment. The service was prompt a very unusual trait for Indian restaurants, the menu was extensive and the food was also great since i have been to every indian Restaurant from London, NYC, L.A and San Francisco. I would recomend this to anyone who appreciates Indian cuisine.

5 Stars: Yes, this is the one !!! (by stedar)

Last night, I treated my parents to dinner at Mint for their anniversary. My mom, who loves Indian cuisine, said that the entres at Mint were probably the best she had tasted. No doubt, the tandoor lamb chops grilled to perfection were the best we had ever tasted. Service was prompt, had to wait a few minutes to be seated as the place was busy. The waiter was very friendly and helpful in providing details about some of the exoctic dishes. Soothing ambiance and ample wine list. Overall, amazing dining experience. My parents were thrilled.

3 Stars: A Review You Can Actually Trust (by sushi_search)

Listen up. I've been to all the best Indian restaurants on both coasts, London and of course India. I've also been to a few hole in the wall joints that were quite good too. So I do not say the following lightly, I think Mint is highly over-rated. The poultry and seafood were not very fresh and were paired with your typical uninspired/bland sauces. Prices are on the high side, service was ok. On a positive note the decor is unique as far as Indian establishments go, though I do not really care to eat in basements as the views are non existent and a stuffy atmosphere pervades. With so many other choices around you can safely skip this one with no regrets.

As a side note I would like to say that CitySearch seems to offer it's readers a more honest review experience than sites such as Menupages which I have personally noticed, heavily edit and thereby distort reviews.

4 Stars: Incredible!! (by adame13)

I have traveled extensively across the US and tried many upscale Indian restaurants as well as small family diners. Until recently, I thought that the best Indian food I had was up in Vancouver, but Mint quickly proved that notion wrong. I tried some of the appetizers. The food was incredible! You could taste the fresh ingredients used in each dish, as well as the spice level was perfect. Although, I might have preferred a bit less spicy, although it didn't seem to interfere with the taste.

5 Stars: Must try for the Indian cuisine lover (by sampit)

I have tried many Indian Restaurants, but this one stands out. Very distinct flavor and very distinct recipes than usually found for Indian cuisines. We tried the Lamb Nilgiri and Saffron Shrimp, and must say I would go back any day. Prices comparitive to what you expect to find in Manhattan, but you get what you pay for. Well stocked bar too, but we didn't try that. Ambience is what the restaurant advertises, and it does meet expectations. Overall experience very satisfying.

3 Stars: Go for the ambience not the food (by al_eeas)

You could get the same food for $6-10 a dish in so many other places. At this place you are paying for the ambience, not the quality of the food. Having said that the layout and design of the place is really not all that special.

4 Stars: A Birthday that i'l always remember (by jsnizer)

I dont generally review restaurants and I have created this account just to do so for the New Trendy restaurant i got my birthday surprise at. About 18 other friends of mine took me out a day after my birthday for drinks at Mint. What i didnt know was that this was all pre-planned. The Staff and my friend David had a huge cake ready for me in the private room. This was the best birthday i had ever had since i moved to NY. The restaurant has a really nice Ambience, the service was great, our server Vikram took good care of us and the food was extra ordinary. The Chef and owner Mr Gary was there to make sure my birthday was a success. Thanks to the Mint straff and management. I cant thank you enough but returning you a favor with this review.

5 Stars: A Great Expirence (by lukegomes)

Well a buddy of mine was staying at the W Hotel. We planned to have diner in the neighbourhood. The Concierge at the W recommended us to go to MINT. I really didnt want to go to a Indian restaurant but my buddy insisted so i did. I could notice the restaurant from a block away with the bring green light outside the restaurant. The restaurant is pretty well made which made a great atmosphere for dining. The service, food, music everything was perfect. I would definately recommend MINT which changed my perspective of a "Indian restaurant".

I was passing by the place and thought to go in and check this new place out. To my surprise, I found MINT as one of the best place to have parties or a quite dinner. The colours are awesome, the ambience is just great. The BAR is full of wide range of liquors. Food is fantastic and very tasty, just when you need to have the change.
The staff is very freindly and explains the dishes so that you can order what is best for you. Guys, give a try...believe me its worth it!!!

5 Stars: Writing another review since I go alot (by mzx380)

I've been going to this restaurant for a few years. Last night I had went with my folks because I'd been raving about it so long. Every time I go here, I'm impressed because as far as Indian restaurants go, it is very impressive looking. Beautiful decor, friendly staff and a cute hostess. The service gets better each time I go there and the food is nothing short of spectacular. I have yet to have a bad meal there and recommend this place to anyone. In addition, because we only eat halal food, the owner made special concessions for us (which really impressed us) and told us that when we come next time, we should phone ahead so they can make even more preparations for us. A spectacular restaurant that applies new recipes to tried and true dishes.
It can get pricey when compared to other restaurants (most indian food is pretty inexpensive) but it's cheaper than a lot of other manhattan restaurants and most def. worth it if you like indian food (their seafood and naan in particular)

I think we have found our new family restaurant
