best movers! 5 Star Rating - World class

My realtor referred me to flat rate moving company once he found me a house.
The move was last minute and my building had elevator time restriction that was very hard to meet. Flat rate sent me more people in order to finish the move on time and did the impossible! I was so impressed .The movers packed my kitchen and bedroom and did an amazing job! I was so happy that I now carry their business cards with me.

MY PERFECT MOVE! 5 Star Rating - World class

Its been two weeks since I moved into my new condo and Im taking the time now to thank the wonderful team and employees of flat rate moving who made this big step in my life so pleasant and easy. The forman, dajan and his team came in with a smile, explained every little thing they were going to do and once everything was completed they left the apartment clean and set up as if I lived there for a while.
The whole process with flatrate was great, the salesperson was very informative and led me through providing inventory list making sure I dont forget anything ,in order to guarantee me the price. I expected some additional charges, but there were NONE!
I will definitely use this company again.

Pros: SERVICE,PRICE,AVAILABILITY,CLEAN TRUCKS AND GOOD LOOKING MOVERS :)
Cons: I DONT HAVE !

Good experience moving from Florida to New Jersey 4 Star Rating - Very good

We moved our 2 bedroom apartment from Coral Springs, FL to Jersey City, NJ 2 weeks ago (early June). Our contact person was Samuel Kipnis at the Miami office. He was very professional and courteous.

They stuck by the rate they quoted, the extra costs were because I underestimated the number of linen boxes, and because in my Jersey City apartment, the total distance that the movers had to walk was more than 150 feet. Every extra 100 feet are charged at $0.15 per sqaure foot. They also "recommend" a tip totalling 10% of the move cost, 60% of which is given to the packing crew, and 40% to the unpacking crew. These were the only extra costs and they added about 15% to the overall cost.

The 4-man crew who came to pack in Coral Springs were really good. The group leader, Danny Veritas, was professional and courteous. The crew was also courteous and careful in packing. All our stuff, including LCD TV, glass items and fragile items, came without any damage whatsoever. There were some really minor scratches on the sofa set, but maybe that was not caused by them...

The unpacking at the Jersey City end was not as good as in Coral Springs, but it was not bad either. I think this was because they sent only 2 men, and they had to walk a fair distance, so they must have been tired. They did a good job of figuring out a way to move our sofa into the apartment.

The only problem was that they broke an Exit sign in the building while moving the stuff. I was disappointed that they did not bother to mention this to me. I am still waiting to see if my building management will charge me money for it.

All in all, I think for the price I paid (total approx. $3500 for a 2-bedroom move, including tips and $200 for extra insurance from movinginsurance dot com) was quite reasonable. Most important, nothing was broken. Looking at the other reviews, I think maybe it's also the luck of the draw based on your crew, but I would highly recommend FlatRate.

Pros: Very good service, punctual and professional.
Cons: A little expensive.

worst movers ever 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

I don't recommend this company to anyone. I scheduled my move well in advance. Yes the price was great. But like they say... It was too good to be true. Flat rate said they would be at my home between 12pm and 2pm. I called them at 1pm and was told that the truck would be here between 2:30 and 3pm. By this time I was getting really worried because the new place that I was moving to only allows trucks in untill 4:30pm. I called them again to ask where the truck was and was told that he would not be able to make it. Supposedly, the crew was "stuck on an elevator on the 10th floor" while on another move. I explained my siituation and asked for another truck and crew and was told that there is no one else. I was not given any other solutions. I was very upset because I had half my stuff at one apartment and half at the other. I even took my bed apart to make it easier for the movers. With no sympathy from Flat Rate, I asked for my money back and although they said they would give it back. I felt that I was not valued as a customer. Luckily I own both apartments. But what would happen to someone who had to be out of their old place by a specific date and had no other alternative?. What if someone was being evicted and was trying to get their things out? They inconvenienced me greatly and didn't even care. I took the day off to move on a weekday because my building only allows moves monday thru friday. Now I have to do it next week and sleep on the floor.

Pros: good price
Cons: didn't show up
