My Mookie was a big bad Brooklyn street dog when he adopted me. (Literally, he just wouldn't leave.) A couple days after I took him in, he started showing signs of aggression that scared me--and I don't scare easily! I was seriously considering having to euthenize him when...somehow...I found Denise. (I don't remember how anymore!)
Her science-based approach to training combined with a playful sense of humor makes her a one-of-a-kind trainer. The first thing she did was give me hope! I loved that dog and wanted to see him thrive. Eventually he did, and it was only under the care of Denise's expertise and creativity.
As a biologist who specializes in animal behavior, I have heaps of respect for the fact that Denise's approach to training is informed by what science has to tell us about how dog's learn and about why dog's behave the way they do. No mumbo-jumbo, no projection of our own emotions onto the animals, no BS, no punishments. Under her care, you will develop a course of training that is specifically designed for YOUR situation and it will be FUN!
Mookie went on to live a long and healthy life until he finally got cancer in 2005. At that point, i'd had him for 7 wonderful years. He made my life better and it's only because of Empire of the Dog. Now, over ten years since I worked with Denise, I've still never encountered a trainer whose intuition, skill, and expertise I would trust more. And use what she taught me about dog training with every other dog I interact with. (I'm taking care of a dog now with whom I always use Denise's ""hydraulic butt"" technique!)
I could go on and on. Point is, Denise is the best. I'll be forever in her debt!
My sweet 5 year old pembroke welsh corgi Oliver and I have taken many classes with Denise beginning with puppy kindergarden then obedience and Tricks classes and even a frisbee class. Thanks to Denise my little Ollie gives a great high five and does a quick roll over when I point my finger and say bang bang!\r
More recently I lost my older 14 year old pembroke welsh corgi named Boo Boo. I have been worried about Ollie becoming depressed as he loved Boo and they were a pack. \r
Denise has communicated with me over email giving me many helpful suggestions to keep his spirits up during this difficult time. She reminded that he needs more mentally stimulating food delivery toys for times when he is alone at home such as The Tricky Treat Ball that I purchased when I took him to puppy class. And that toy took away his glum expression and turned it into a happy smile as he pushed the toy around and attempted to shake the treats out!!\r
Thank you Denise for all your concern and caring as well as your great suggestions!!
Denise's Puppy K is a fantastic program for all puppy owners. We had so much success with our first puppy that we enrolled for our second pup 18 months later. She is extremely effective in giving you the proper tools to raise a confident dog, one who will be a well-behaved companion, well-adjusted to urban life and our hectic lifestyles.
We hired Denise to come for a private session to help us with our 3 year old rescue pit mix. She arrived on time and ready to get right to work! First we addressed his separation anxiety issues and worked with kong toys to try and keep him occupied. She gave us helpful tips on how to slowly get him used to keeping busy, so he wouldn't freak out when he left. We then worked on ""the walk""! After only a few minutes of training, we had our dog following our lead as opposed to the other way around! The day after the session we noticed some slight improvements in our walk, however we knew his behavioral changes would not happen overnight. We definitely had to keep working with him for a long time.
Denise was amazing at responding to each and every question in my emails following our session and responded almost immediately! It was great that she took such care and time to make sure we were on track after our session was over and she was already paid.
I would definitely recommend Denise if you are in need of help. She will guide you, but remember, after all- it is up to you to do all the hard work!
I have a new puppy that was giving me some ""normal & expected"" challenges. I saw a trainer at her puppy play group sessions. However I felt that each dog has there own set of unique circumstances and challenges due to there home environment that that session trainer did not understand.
This is what brought me to Empire of the Dog.
Denise came to my house and watched my puppy in her unique environment and created a program for us to follow. I found this extremely help full because she developed a personalized training schedule that fit my needs and the needs of my puppy.
We went over all the basics, testing and trying them out. In the end, she wrote up a comprehensible hour by hour training itinerary that I have been following every day with prodigious results.
I only have lovely things to say about my experience of working with Denise, and I intend to work with her in the future on developing my dogs agility skills.
I cannot thank you enough for your help/advice. We have followed your separation anxiety diagnostic for the past week religiously. Your advice was comforting and pragmatic. I guess training the dog really starts with training the master. We needed a plan and you gave us one. It turns that while Mars does seem to have separation anxiety since he doesnt really eat when we are not home, he does NOT bark when are not home...and we know this now because of your suggestion to record him during the day. Now we can completely discredit our nasty neighbor who has filed complaints against us AND Mars thanks you for the Kong idea...he loves them! You single-handedly solved our problem without having to step foot in our house. Your quick response time and advice was not only comforting at a time when we were very stressed and upset, you approached our situation with the soul of someone who wants to help and is not out solely for personal gain. If we ever have any issues with Mars in the future...we will definitely come straight to you. We will also recommend your services to our friends and family in need of some dog/master-training assistance. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Pros: Effective Techniques, Knowledgeable
Denise is a great dog trainer. I volunteer as a foster parent for a rescue group and fancy myself somewhat dog-savvy, however I could not help my little Chihuahua girl get over her terrbile fear/aggression towards other dogs while out walking her. In a non-judgemental, effective and clear way, Denise helped me to understand my dog's reactions and worked out a training plan that I could follow to help my dog be less fearful of other dogs. The training is 100% positive, no negative or ""corrective"" manouvers, and I an already see my dog is improving.
Pros: Effective Gentle techniques that work
I posted an initial review of Denise's training skills in February (see ""We now have the best puppy ever"") but wanted to add a review about a second training session we recently had. Our puppy has grown up nicely - but had developed some new behaviors that we needed help getting under control. So we brought Denise back for a tune up session.
As with the last time, she had one of our major problems (this time it was barking at people who come into the apartment) under control within minutes of her arrival. Not only that, but when she walked in, she instantly recognized the barking as ""social barking"" as opposed to an aggressive behavior and addressed the problem appropriately. She spent time talking with us and addressing all of our concerns, left us with written instructions and lists of ideas, and has provided meaningful support after the session. When we couldn't get one of her ideas to work she suggested (by email and phone) alternative solutions to the problem that ultimately helped our dog learn exactly what we were hoping for.
These two sessions (about 8 months apart) have made such a difference in our lives. If we need any more help down the line I would not hesitate to call her back again - as her services have been truly invaluable.
(oops - it seems my 10/26/09 review replaced my 2/9/09 review - just know that both reviews were excellent)
Pros: Knowledgeable, friendly, successful trainer.
When I got my dog, Mocha, from a local shelter, he had separation anxiety and was generally nervous and jumpy. It was a real concern because he's also very strong. After a few sessions with Denise, he is the most mellow and calm dog. He still gets excited, but we can calm him down in seconds by following the tips she taught us. It's like night and day. And we know he's fine now when we leave him alone that he won't tear anything up or chew on his paw like he did when we first got him. He's a big love hound that we can have around children now.
Puppy K with Empire of the Dog was the best use of time and money (and not that much $!) .Denise thoroughly knows the hurdles and challenges of owning a dog in a city. She gave us smart, clear solutions to our own set of problems so that out of a class of 5 it felt very personal and one on one. I would urge any first time dog owner to seek out Denise, you will gain a wealth of knowledge in very little time. This class was as good for me as it was my naughty puppy, thanks Denise! \r
A while ago I took my dog to this trainer and got none of the results I was looking for. There results were beyond terrible. I had to actually get my dog retrained with another (BETTER) trainer. Of the three things you are suppose to list as your main concerns for having fixed only one was, and that wasn't done that well. I would not recommned this dog training service to anyone. It's too expensive for the medicore results you get. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else. Your bank account will thank you later... so will your dog. Get your pet trained elsewhere!\r
The only reason I didn't use one star is because citysearch wouldn't let me. This service isn't worth a two star rating.
A little over a year ago we got our dog Charlie. He was 2 years old at the time and demonstrated SEVERE separation anxiety. Throughout the past year we have worked with 4 dog trainers to address this issue. Denise is one of these 4 trainers, however, she stands miles above the rest. Let me explain...\r
1) LISTENING TO ME ABOUT MY DOG: In working with other trainers, I was often left with a feeling of ""yeah, but that's not my dog"" or ""that doesn't really make sense to me from what I know so far"". It really seems as though many trainers have the same prescribed program for every dog no matter what the issue. In contrast, Denise took detailed information about my dog, asked specific questions, and responded with a plan that made so much sense based on our dog's needs.\r
2) SMALL CHANGE, BIG REWARD: While other trainers detailed these tedious plans that seemed impossible to implement, Denise thought about how she could make it more reasonable for us. She helped us to make small changes in what we were doing, which would in turn make big changes in our dog's anxiety level and behavior. \r
3) RESULTS: While a dog prone to separation anxiety will probably never be completely cured, our dog is now showing no consistent anxiety. He has also improved on his leash walking and some residual house-training issues based on Denise's suggestions. Overall, our enjoyment of our dog has sky-rocketed and we believe his quality of life has greatly improved! We greatly appreciate Denise's expertise.
Pros: Effective, Knowledgable
After three days of board training with Denise, our puppy is completely and PERFECTLY housetrained. More importantly, this was accomplished with positive and loving methods in a clean and secure environment. Our experience wih Denise's board training program exceeded all of our expectations. \r
When we dropped off our puppy, Denise reviewed our current practices and procedures with him and set goals for the three day of board training. All of them were met. She taught him to go outside, within minutes of being taken outside. She also taught him to go according to a timetable that reflected our work schedules. When we picked up our puppy three days later, Denise spent over an hour with us discussing the housetraining procedures, schedule and other behavioral issues of note. She also prepared written documents for us to take home and review.\r
During the three days of board training, Denise updated us of his progress via emails and calls. She even sent us pictures of him, happily playing in her home. \r
In addition to housetraining, Denise also worked on his puppy etiquette. Our dog sitter noted that he has returned from board training with the manners of an ""adult"". He now sits at doors, elevators and stop lights; and waits patiently for treats and dinners.\r
I also want to highlight Denise's integrity and honesty. In initial conversations, she had warned us that she may not be able to accomplish our goals in three days and that it may take up to five, which gave me pause. However, after two days with him, I asked Denise if she needed more time with him, and she declined, explaining that his progress was excellent. Boarding is a costly option and I value that Denise did not recommend more than what was necessary.
Pros: Effective, Warm, Honest
I can't tell you how much your one ""fix-it"" session did for us. Our nine-month old puppy has responded so well to the training tips you recommended. I'd say 99% of all the issues we had with her (boredom barking, begging, nipping, housetraining problems) disappeared within two weeks of your visit. Thanks so much.
I could tell you how Nogs, our nine month old chocolate lab, never so much as nibbled at a shoe or a piece of furniture after her first puppy kindergarten class with Denise. Equally, I could tell you how Nogs impresses our friends and guests when she performs such fripperies as the ""paw shake"" or the ""puppy push up"". \r
No, instead I will tell you what happened to Nogs yesterday and how we almost lost her for good.\r
We were out at Floyd Bennet Air field, playing soccer on the beach. Nogs had just saved another last minute penalty when the wind took her ball and deposited it in the water. Now Nogs is a formidable swimmer, and takes a dip most mornings but today she hadn't bargained on freak winds and currents to match that whisked the ball from her jaws. Her instincts as a water dog compelled her to chase on, even though the wind and the current were carrying the ball -- and Nogs -- at a rate of nots normally reserved for small pleasure craft, not labradors. We called her back, we yelled and screamed, but nothing could break her focus on the ball -- which was now speeding towards Portugal. That was when panic set in and we realized Nogs could easily be a gonner. Then I remembered Denise's ""Puppy Tractor Beam"" we learned at Puppy K2. And so I began to whoop and clap and make noises like a human claxon and Nogs turned her head to look at me, and let the ball escape. She realized she was about a half a mile off shore and that the current was too swift for her liking, and started to swim perpendicular to the beach to get herself out of the rip tide and then she headed inland. Once or twice she turned back to look after the ball but another whoop and a clap and she focused on us again. Back on dry land we realized, that if it had not been for Denise and her excellent training Nogs wouldn't be curled up asleep on her rather dirty old cushion in the corner of my office right now. She'd be in Portugal, or worse. So thanks Denise, Nogs loves you, and so do we.
Pros: local, convenient, small classes, lots of attention, great results
Cons: graduation comes too soon, classes have to end
As parents (novice pet owners) who had finally given in to our seven year old's pleading for a puppy, we decided to try Denise's class. We found the class on the Internet, were a little unsure of what to expect. \r
A great surprise! ""Puppy kindergarten"" turned out to be the best experience in every way, for everybody!\r
Our daughter adored the class--it's a lot of fun-- and quickly learned techniques to handle and train a rambunctious pup. She's proud of her skills, and we are all on the same page now in this new endeavor.\r
Denise is wonderful--with dogs, children, owners! Her class is well organized, she is competent and enthusiastic, and makes all participants feel comfortable. We've come away with a lot of confidence and a much better behaved dog.\r
Thanks, Denise, Empire of the Dog is terrific!
I took my 7 month old puppy to Empire of the Dog for basic obedience. They squeezed me in to the class right before it started which I really appreciated. The class was fun, the instruction was simple and my dog got it right away. I enjoyed all the tips I learned as well. Truly is a great class for an urban dog owner.
Pros: friendly, easy to follow instruction
Cons: temperature wise - the space can be cold
Denise is amazing with my difficult dog and her training method is a perfect match for us. Her confidence, hard work and obvious love for animals is apparent with the success we've been having since the very first session. We are relieved that we can finally feel confident that we will succeed in fixing our dog's urgent behavioral issues. Do not hesitate to work with Denise...she's a keeper!
Pros: Skillful, confident, affordable.
Urban Agility was the third class we have taken with Denise and we loved it! We learned new tricks such as over, under, through, up, and even got to play with a frisbee and skateboard. Not only was the course content excellent, but Denise gave each dog individual attention and tips. As always, she is patient and understanding with us as sometimes slacker parents who do not practice the homework as much as we should.
Fun class and very helpful! Great for city living. The dogs learn how to be fearless and have fun jumping over and through mini obstacle courses. Thanks Denise.
I would highly recommend Denise's classes to any new 'puppy parent'. Denise uses instructions that are easy to follow for both our pug and for us. As well as the class schedule Denise throws in lots of little tips such as feeding breakfast in a puzzle toy to occupy our puppy while we get ready for work. Denise is also happy to answer any general questions and helped us a lot with encouraging our lazy little pug to go for walks in the cold. Our puppy was scared around other dogs before he attended the kindergarten class and now he loves to play with every dog he sees - the bigger the better!
When our puppy starting showing aggression problems we didn't know what to do. Denise's puppy kindergarden class was a life saver. I talked to other trainers and found Denise's experience and advice far surpassed her peers. \r
The goal of the class is to create well socialized dogs that can live in the city and not drive you or anyone else crazy - perfect right! The classes are worth more than just the hour a week you spend with her - Denise handed out homework every session to remind you how to work with your puppy during walks and while you are playing together.\r
Aside from the routine puppy training, Denise gave us concrete steps to work with our specifics issues and we have seen amazing results!
I was hesitant to reach out to a dog trainer, but after my boxer american bulldog mix showed signs of trouble at Doggie Daycare, I decided to take the plunge. Denise is GREAT. Ali loved her, responded to her immediately, and showed improvement after just one session. \r
Ali was showing frustration and signs of agression. Denise suggested simple changes to my routine, as well as physical and mental exercises for my gal -- and even showed me how to get Ali to stop jumping all over everyone in my apartment. After just one session I saw huge improvements... and a week later... Ali's like a different dog!\r
Denise is smart, non-judgemental, and the prices are great.\r
If you're debating getting a dog trainer AT ALL, try Empire of the Dog. I wholeheartedly recommend it!
Pros: Friendly, Prices are Reasonable, Very Knowledgeable
My dog has been going to Denise Herman's training classes since he was 5 months old. Being a mini poodle pup, he needs a lot of stimulation--so after he developed some borderline obsessive compulsive behavior (sounds crazy--but true!) I called Denise in for some professional help. After just one session she had Rex back on track--and she suggested her small dog tricks class to give him some much-needed stimulation. I had never thought about training Rex to do tricks, but not only does he now impress all my friends with his cute tricks, he has gotten to whole new levels of obedience in a way that is fun for both of us! I can't recommend Denise's tricks class highly enough. At just 8 months, Rex can jump through hoops!
At first I was a little nervous about using a dog trainer I found randomly. Once Denise arrived I knew I took a good ramble. \r
She personally trouble shooted all the specific issues I was having with my teacup Brussels Griffon Peaches. Denise wrote down + explained everything in detailed step by step instructions.. fool proof which is what I needed. \r
I feel like I could go to her in the future if I had any addition questions that might come up. I liked the fact that she got right to the point and explained how tough love can work (ie sometimes you need to be stern no matter how cute they are!) \r
All in all Denise most importantly instilled in us confidence because we finally know the correct way of doing things! She made us realize that our problems with Peaches wouldn't be forever and are fixable. \r
I would highly recommend Empire of the Dog. I live in Bed-Sty and I was happy to hear she was willing to come here, you don't need to be in Manhattan to have first class service. The fee is reasonable and worth every penny. \r
Pros: Detailed personalized instructions/ willing to follow up/ comes to you
Denise is so in touch with dog psychology. I was having a lot of trouble with my dog at the dog park, he would get very intimidated, and had a lot of trouble navigating with other dogs. Denise helped me to read dog body language, to know when or not to intervene, and to help calm my dog down with ways of talking to him during his anxiety, he now plays at the park so successfully it is such a relief! She has also been very generous with emailing and quick anxiety calls.
denise is a super star. period.\r
i have used empire of the dog as both a dog walker and dog owner.\r
denise was referred to me and exceeded every expectation. \r
after just 1 session with me and my dog, i saw amazing results.\r
i refer her to all of my clients, co-workers and friends.\r
and all have seen positive changes in their pets.\r
her approach is refreshing and also gets results.\r
what more could you ask for?!\r
my dog and i have a better quality of life and a better understanding of one another.\r
i am an absolute devotee of empire of the dog.\r
do not hesitate.\r
you will wonder why you waited so long.....\r
Okay - my title is hella cheesy, but Ms. Denise at Empire of the Dog changed my two mutts dynamics and energy in the course of just ONE session! She has the dog kevorka. She's tough, but loving - and won't give you homework you can't handle. I'd worked with trainers in the past who'd said ""no on the couch or bed"" and that wasn't going to work for my family (one of the best parts of having a dog is cuddling on the bed!!) - luckily Denise kept goals and work realistic for us while still making sure to get the utmost results! My girls are changing everyday because of Denise's great detailed list of lifestyle tweaks. YAY! Thanks Denise. 2 paws up! :)
Cons: Book in advance - she's a busy bee! :)
My 7mos. old chihuahua and I found out about Denise through one of her happy clients at a Brooklyn dogrun. Now, nearly 4 months later, after graduating from Puppy Kindergarten and Small Dog Obedience class I'm living with one beautifully socialized, attentive, engaged, happy and calm puppy. ok, calm...most of the time. he's a puppy!\r
After signing up, I learned from a fellow puppy-parent that Denise has an excellent following with an impressive background of credentials. Her methods of teaching are positive and kept us laughing...but definitely focus on consistency, repetition, seeing things from your dogs perspective and did i say repetition? that too.\r
I had heard that small dogs usually couldn't do consistent ""downs"", but i didn't give up on the exercises that Denise taught...and voila, with a little patience...my puppy's doing great downs. \r
Denise teaches that we humans are the link to our dogs improved behavior and training. When my pup failed to perform it switched the question around:\r
what am i doing that keeps him from learning this? simple, but true.\r
we'll be back for the ""tricks class soon"".\r
thanks denise! we had a blast!
Pros: Denise's knowledge of small breed dogs, her vast knowledge of training and her humor and warmth.
Cons: Empire of The Dog! Will travel, but...we need you in Park Slope too!
I first went to Denise for help after my dog (a one-year-old terrier mix) ran out of Fort Greene Park and almost got struck by a car. Denise was highly recommended by friends of mine in the neighborhood, so I went for a private training session (despite my initial wariness about the cost). Denise was great -- lots of dog trainers are great with dogs but terrible with people, but Denise was a fantastic instructor for both of us. She immediately got to the heart of the issues involved and gave me a clear plan of action that has made a huge difference in my dog's behavior. The private session was totally worth the money. We then signed up for her small dog obedience class, which has been fun, educational, and better than any other training we've done. (I did puppy kindergarden with a different trainer in Brooklyn -- and Denise's teaching style and positive training techniques are much better and much more effective than what we learned before.) I highly recommend Empire of the Dog for both fix-it training and group classes.
Denise was prompt in calling me back. My pooch and I had just relocated in NYC, and he was barking whenever crated. Denise had me do some experiments to see if he was having separation anxiety or just trying to get out of the crate. Then she came out and taught me a number of techniques for working with him. She wrote of a plan of action for me and followed up THREE times on the phone after our session. She was also available on email for any questions I had. My pup is doing much better, and I know where to go if we have problems in the future. Remember to bring up the 10% Citysearch discount. I forgot and lost out.
Pros: comes to your house, good follow up, knowledgable
Cons: a little pricey
I would definitely recommend Denise (at Empire of the Dog) to anyone. She communicated well with all the dogs in the puppy kindergarten class I attended, and gave me effective, personalized advice on my puppys particular bad habits. She doesn't use any force, but educates the dogs instead. Moreover, Denise teaches the owners how to work with their dogs, and get them to respond by sending the right signals without battling them. She gives great advice on how to take care of a dog in the city, and is available and willing to take follow-up emails/phone calls.
Not only does Denise help train your pup, but more importantly, she'll train YOU - what you should do and shouldn't do to get the well-behaved dog you're looking for. imo, this was infinitely more valuable. we tried one other trainer who was ""the biggest name in the business"" - he was late, uncaring and more than *three times as expensive* as Denise. He also encouraged controversial leash-yanking for behavior correction - while Denise is a stern advocate of 100% humane, positive re-enforcement training only.\r
For either house calls or her Empire classses, you won't be sorry - our dog is now well-behaved, knows over a dozen neat tricks and is the joy of our lives - Denise has played a major role is making this happen.
I highly recommend Denise - she was incredible at understanding my particular dog training situation (my dog is smart, obedient, but wary and shy, and easily distracted outside). I've read a lot of books on training and behavior, and Denise is a vital and wonderful resource of a true 'how to', giving you a number of exercises, demos - real-life situations and analysis of what you might be doing to confuse your dog. When you hear sound dog advice, it is invaluable since human sensibility is so different from doggy sense.\r
Denise covered so much in 90 minutes and offered a treasure trove of information that helped me discern what works and doesn't in all those training books. She even followed up with a telephone call two weeks later to see how we were doing, and offered further suggestions. I'm looking forward to her group tricks class!
I knew Denise would be great, particularly since she worked at one of the best Animal Shelters in the country - Maddie's adoption center in San Francisco. Denise came to my home and spent almost 2 hours with me and my dog (the session cost was supposed cover 90 minutes, but she wasn't looking at her watch). She was very attentive and made sure that I understood everything she explained. We made a plan of action for my dog's aggressive behavior and I was off and running. Although it ain't cheap, the value is good because she has always been available for my silly follow up questions and responds in a timely manner with my follow up e-mails. I definitely recommend Denise as an option for helping your dog with issues - much better than being corrupted by the Dog Whisperer.
Pros: Attentive, Knowledgable
Denise is the best dog trainer around and her techniques are fun to learn and practice, gentle and effective. You'll learn that your dog is happy to obey you if you motivate and reward them properly. She teaches you how your dog's mind works. Denise and her staff are great with both dogs and people. I can't recommend highly enough.
Pros: Good info, training, small class size, great value
Cons: room is hot in summer
Denise and Empire of the Dog are on the leading edge of positive and versatile dog training. I own three dogs, each with their own unique sets of problems, issues, and needs. From pushy, to shy, to aggressive Denise was able to handle them all and more importantly help us handle them too. I had been through about 3 different trainers before finding the Empire of the Dog and I wont ever go looking again. Denise is smart, savvy, and inventive with her dog training techniques. She thinks outside the box and personalizes every session to the needs of you dog. I have read every book and in general consider myself to be a dog know-it-all, but I was definitely amazed at how much I learned from our consulting sessions. I decided took my 12-year-old dog to obedience class and was amazed at how much she learned!
Pros: limited class sizes, personal attention, easy street parking
My 2 dogs have had two visits with Denise for training and they have been changed completely (for the better). She immediately identified the most annoying behaviors and trained ME on how to curve these behaviors. I realized that it's my behaviors that were making my dogs crazy not them. So she is showing me how to handle them better. On top of that we have already started to teach them tricks. I have signed on with her to do classes 1 time every week and I don't see an end in sight. She has shown me that there is really a lot I can do to make the quality of our lives better.
Denise is a gifted trainer who understands dog owners as well as dogs ( a rare occurrence). Her easy-going attitude charms dogs and humans alike. Her exceptional skills are visible the moment she walks through your door.
Dog training is not for everyone. She gets that: there is no assumption that you will spend hours of personal time training your best friend, unless you want to, or that you have a bottomless bank account. Goal number 1 : identify the problem or wish; goal # 2 : solve the problem and guarantee the wish in layers - gain immediate tools and expand as desired. One session produces results - believe it or not.
Denise understands that a happy owner makes a happy dog and vice versa. Look no further!
Pros: great value, quick results, tricks
Denise trains us to better understand rather than frighten and intimidate our dogs. We've taken two dogs to her and both dogs worship her as a Special Entity AND are well-adjusted, happy dogs, thanks to what we learned from Empire of the Dog.
we took both the puppy kindergarden class and dog obedience classes and they were fantastic. Denise is an amazing and very patient instructor (to dog and humans) -- her lessons were instantly helpful and have had lasting results -- highly recommended!
