Called Sunday evening about clogged kitchen sink and I was told someone would be at my apartment between 8:30-9:15am. At 8:45am plumber arrived, he took a look at the problem and gave me a fair price before he started the job. He took care of the problem quickly & efficiently. And on top of everything he was such a nice guy! I will always call these guys for any future problem! (If you can, request Jose, he was wonderful to work with!)

I had a leaky water filter under the sink, and the first time around they said I needed to replace the whole thing, and not just the leaky tube. I didn't know better and paid for the labor and a new water filter. 8 months later, same water tube was leaking and called them again -- they changed the washer and then charged $200+ dollars. Whole thing took under 10 minutes, and even with an hourly rate or a fixed fee that's robbery. After the whole thing, felt like they scammed me twice over. Had trusted the other reviews (and reason why I paid the first time), but now not so sure.

Doing a kitchen renovation and needed new branch lines, sink, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and gas stove hooked up.

The Story -

First off I will say that the woman who answered the phone was nice and cordial...no complaints.

I live off of central park near Lincoln Center in a doorman high rise building. They told me that my building is considered commercial and not residential. HUH??? Also that my building probably requires me to use their plumber. That is not true. My building lets me use whoever I want if they have insurance. I find it very strange that they are located in Manhattan, but don't do Manhattan apartments. No other plumber in this city has ever given me that as a reasoning. So while they were nice I just thought it was weird.

Sorry, Gateway Plumbing doesn't service all of Manhattan. I called to have my toilet fixed in Washington Heights and they said I was out of their service area. The person on the phone was very nice though.

Really good at handling emergencies! I've been carrying out all my "spring cleaning" chores a bit late and while cleaning the bathroom somehow broke the k nob on my bath faucet while the water was running. Fearing a flood, I called them and they came right over. Very helpful and understanding.

I used this company for a busted pipe. The pipe in the wall of my front bathroom burst in the middle of the night. I had water running all down stairs. I called this place and they came right out. They patched the job until the next day and came out and finished the job.

My wife and I came acrosss Gateway plumbing through a friends reccomendation and we were very glad. They answered the call immmediately and gave us a terrific estimate for our budget and agreed to do doing the work immediately. They were necer intrusive in our home nor were they tardy in getting the job done and cleaning up as if they weren't there at all! There was never a time when our call wasn't answered to swiftly if not immediately. As an added bonus we needed new fixtures and John helped us find the best (and tasteful, fashionable desiegn) kind and stay within our budget. We won't hesitate to call Gateway again.

We had a sewer pipe problem. John answered his phone, was helpful and quickly handled the job for a great price. He also was helpful in a general question on my boiler and was not just trying to charge me more for things we did not need.

My Gateway experience has been consistently reliable, professional and affordable. As a landlord to an apartment in an old Brooklyn building, I found myself traveling and in a bind when my new tenants reported a broken pipe underneath the bathroom sink, on the first weekend they moved in! Gateway came through promptly and fixed the problem immediately and to my surprise, I didn't have to pay through the roof. Others in my building began to use them for their own problems and the President of our Co-Op board recognized Gateway as the most honest and reliable service in town and ended up hiring them as the official plumbing & Heating service. Most recently, they've installed a new washer and dryer in the building and all owners and tenants are thrilled. I highly recommend their services.

John and his team are the best! They arrived and made my plumbing nightmares go away. I had a leak in my apartment and had to shut off my water. They came right away, found the problem and fixed it. I expected a big bill for the job, but I was surprised how reasonable it was. I usually don't feel comfortable having people in my home, but John and his team made me feel secure and calm. I feel the professionalism along with the speedy service, not to mention the great price, makes them one if not the BEST around.

The folks at Gateway Plumbing are straight up the most trustworthy and hardworking plumbing outfit I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Simply put, they know their trade better than anyone else. As a result, Gateway instills a sense of confidence in their customers that they made the right decision.

Have to write and say that John and this team are the best in town. After a horrible evening spent waiting until 2 am for Roto Rooter to arrive, we found John's name on City Search. We live in a 100+ year old brownstone, and they were able to diagnose the problem right way (roots growing into our clay pipes) and fix the problem quickly and cheaply! Through out John gave us such personal attention and addressed every question, explained all that was happening, and made us feel very well taken care of. We haven't had a problem since. I recommend him to everyone I know and am grateful to City Search for bringing Gateway Plumbing into my life!

These guys are really great at what they do. They are like the "Car Talk" brothers of plumbing and heating. They are experienced, honest and follow through on what they say they'll do. Much more knowledgeable than most plumbing/heating companies in my experience as they keep up with the latest technology and techniques. They've served our condo building and me personally very well. You might be able to find a cheaper service, but its cheaper in the long run to get the job done right and they'll do just that. Highly recommended.

Two other plumbers came and couldn't fix my heater. The guys who came over fixed the problem and were finished in two hours. They had to change something. I haven't had any problems since. Of course I had to pay but it's worth it. I told my neighbors about them.
