Nice Place  4 Star Rating - Very good

Atmosphere is nice. Sat in the bar and had dinner. Food was amazing. Seafood was fresh and prepared nicely. They have interesting cocktails on the menu for those of you who'd like a liquid dinner. I have to say, I'd go back for dinner

Devon Seafood Grill  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

Decent Seafood but I don't think I'd reccomend it to my friends or go back again. It took a while for them to get us our food and the place was small.

Great atmosphere, Great Service, Food was wonderful 5 Star Rating - World class

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here last weekend. It was a great place to go for a special dinner or just a regular dinner too. It was a very warm and comfortable environment. The service was great our waiter was very friendly and helpful. They had a great special on wine that night.(Sunday) $10 off/bottle. The crab cakes were absolutely delicious and my husband and I really enjoyed our Shrimp Enchiladas and Lobster Ravioli. Beautiful Presentation! We were too full for dessert, but looked great! We will definitely be back. Devon's is highly recommended!

Great Wednesday and Thursday Specials 5 Star Rating - World class

I love devon seafood grill. They offer lobster at market price on Wednesday and Thursday - it is an unbeatable special. I come from Philadelphia were the origonal devon is and it is just as good in Chicago. It is a great place for a date or to take clients. The price are not super expensive, but you feel like you are at a top notch city spot.

Great option for seafood in Chicago 5 Star Rating - World class

I was first skeptical because it's difficult to find excellent seafood in the midwest, rightfully so. But Devon did the job! Made reservations and was seated immediately. The bar area was very "to be seen" which is fine if that's what you like. The dining area is located downstairs in a very minimally decorated space with small nooks to the side. It had the right combination of loudness and privacy for both romantic dates and group dining. The service was good, not "outstanding" but nothing that would prevent me from coming back. I had a mango martini which pretty much tasted like cough syrup -- avoid it. For appetizer, we had the shrimp cocktail which is what shrimp cocktain should be like, LARGE and juicy. I also had a cup of lobster bisque which was wonderful. Not to creamy, just a perfect lobster flavor and a slight spice to it. For dinner, i had the hawaiin tuna steak which has a perfect char-grilled crust and wonderfully rare in the center, fresh. it came with a subtle hollandaise-like sauce and grilled vegetables. my date had the seafood sampler which had their well-known crabcake which I tasted and felt it was overseasoned a bit, but definitely jam packed with crab only. the plate also had large scallops and shrimp and a perfectly cooked piece of salmon. he also ordered a 1lb side of lobster which was the whole lobster for only $15 extra, personally i feel is a pretty good value. for dessert, we had the chocolate melting cake which is pretty standard, but there was a caramelized tart cup with ice cream in it which was perfect! I would definitely return. It's the best seafood i've had in chicago thus far -- I dine out in chicago 1-2 times a week at similar restaurants. make a reservation on weekends!

Pros: Fresh fresh seafood, nice ambiance for both couples and groups, value
Cons: bad martini

Foodies steer clear of this place 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

If you consider yourself a foodie, steer clear of this place. It had been recommended by several of my wifes associates....who we won't be taking restaurant advice from any longer. The staff was unprofessional -- after we waited for 20 minutes past when our reservation was for the maitre-de tried to seat us but the table wasn't cleared or made yet. The waitress was clueless about food -- my wife asked if the caesar dressing was more towards the parmesan side or mayonnaise side, they answerer parmesan and guess what, it was one of the worst caesar dressings we've tasted, way too much egg/mayo flavor, not enough parmesan. My wife got the crab cakes which tasted like they were filled with tartar sauce. The wine list was large but had a lot of very average bottles that were overpriced. We should have known we might be in trouble for the night when they handed us the vibrating beeper to be seated. Both my wife and I felt sick after the meal. We regularly dine out in Chicago, 2 - 3 nights a week, and this was the worst meal we've ever had that we paid more than $100 for. Foodies stay away.

And one more thing I just noticed -- why does Citysearch give it Five Stars, when I just thoroughly looked through the reviews I saw a few with 1 and 2 stars (which I wish I'd read yesterday), how does this translate into Five Stars at the top? I didn't actually read all the reviews the first time as I read the first 2 glowing reviews and assumed all had given 5 stars, as the overall listing had given. Shady move Citysearch.

CHICAGO'S BEST SEAFOOD RESTAURANT! 5 Star Rating - World class

I dined at Devon the other night was pleasantly surprised about this restaurant. It came highly recommended from friends who came in from out of town for a show.

My wife and I dine out a few times a week and tend to critique restaurants harshly, but I found it difficult to find a point of concern here. The staff was quick to greet us and offered us the choice of sitting with a window view of the city or a downstairs private alcove.

We chose the alcove and were amazed with the size of the downstairs facilities. The room is a football field in length and is well lit. The alcove was the most impressive however. Placed alongside the main dining room, it is a wonderfully romantic way to spend an evening.

The service was constantly there, but never noticed. Our water was always filled, wine poured and accompaniments replaced as needed. The food was exactly as it was described and the Chef prepared my wifes to order as her dietary needs required it.

I had the Chilean Sea Bass with the Lobster Risotto and my wife had the Roasted Chicken. For wine, the restaurant has on staff an wine expert to go along with an impressive cellar of close to 500 bottles I learned. He came by and paired our meal perfectly. For desert we ordered an Orange Infused Molten Ghirardelli Chocolate Cake and it truly was divine.

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Make a reservation and enjoy Chicagos best Seafood Restaurant.
