I just recently went to Bone Lick and was very disappointed. Service was dreadful and the food really didn't make up for it. I enjoy Virgils, Dinosaur and Wildwood amongst others. This place wasn't even close. Keep walking, you aren't

I had it with salmon. My friend had a veggie burger which was very good, the waiter was realy nice and considering that the place was packed he delivered the drinks and the food a.s.a.p.,great crowd. we ended making some new friends , friendly crowd.
We will be back.

Upon entering the restaurant I was greeted by the friendly staff, and even the owner! My waiter treated me nicely, not to mention I got my drinks shortly after I ordered them. For the food, the portions were big and cooked perfectly. The burger was my favorite part, it was juicy and simply melted in my mouth, it was so yummy!! The atmosphere is great, especially on sunday brunches when drinks are unlimited for an hour! Must check this place out!!! Love it.

My friends booked an area in BL for 30 people for my 30th birthday. Considering normal mayhem trying to serve 30 people at the same time it was done very well. (I am a waiter so I know). Drinks were surprisingly strong considering the inexpensive prices, $3.50 for the margaritas & mojitos. We will be back for both small and large groups. Great ribs

I've been to many BBQ places in NYC and I have to say that Bone Lick is one the best. With friendly staff and a great menu I am now offically a regualr here for lunch and dinner or just a craving for the perfect rib or fry

So of the 11 people in my party I was the one with the roach ice cube. Showed roach to waiter who squeezed it in between his fingers and wiped it on his pants eww. Next my friend was in the bathroom and overheard the MANAGER saying that he wasn't going to give us any discounts. In fact the only discount we recieved was the honor of not paying for the iced roach drinks and an offer for a new one. Finally the math on the check is VERY funny. The night ended with us paying our bill and the waiter exclaiming, It was a fruit fly!!!! LOL IT WAS A ROACH!!

okay so i was one of the10 friends lady d was with on the unfortunate day i fell out of favor with bone lick park. it was quite disturbing and disappointing since i was the one who convinced everyone we should go to one of my "favorite" restaurants. we should have suspected something was wrong when upon notifying the staff about the roach the manager never even came to the table to offer an apology or a lame explanation..now it is time to pay the bill and my friend is in the restroom..she overhears discussing our table in an unfavorable fashion..he had the audacity to say we should be grateful we didn't have to pay for our roach infested drink. we all returned our mojitos upon lady d's discovery...so here we are...i am exing bone lick park off of my list of places to eat..you should too...not only because of the roach but to add insult to injury we were told it was a fruit fly at last i checked an insect is an insect...not a delicacy unless you ordered it..

Pros: fried oysters not bad

Cons: rude manager bug infested drinks

If you have never eaten BBQ you might like it at the Bonelick. The sauce isn't that flavorful and the portions are on the small size. Most of the food feels like it was freshly nuked for you. I think they buy the packaged ribs at the D'Agostino's and nuke them up. The red velvet cake is must to avoid. It is so dry and the frosting so sicky sweet. Walk around the corner to the Magnolia Bakery and eat the real thing. Plus the red of the food coloring stained my shirt. The drinks are weak , they are cheap but they are lousy. They need to clear out the folks who stick to the bar like flies. They scare away customers.

Just went there today and was highly underwhelmed. The prices were really high. Portions were not-too-big. The side (okra) was average. The brisket was cooked acceptably, but again, not impressive. The waiter-recommended baby-back ribs were ok. The sauce is decent. Basically, either they should increase the quality of BBQ (difficult) or lower their prices. Also, no-refills on my coke even though I finished it right after I got my food. I'd like to give them a 2.5 star. I'm from Texas though, so maybe I expect too much...

Oh yeah, a bunch of people around me were raving about the margaritas.

Pros: Apparently the Margaritas

Cons: Price of BBQ

.

Wife and i dined here and had the onion rings, beef ribs with collard greens and pulled pork with mac and cheese.

The onion rings were great as was the dipping sauce, the ribs and bbq were good (pork came pre sauced which we hate but it was still good) and the mac and cheese was very good.

Only disappointment ws the collard greens which needed more flavor.

We also got drinks which were strong and cheep, probably not the best mixed but for the price they had a good kick.

The price is the big winner here. It's ribs were better than pricier places like blue smoke and the pulled pork was on par with other places and it is the same price range as texas bbq (and MUCH better).

Visited Bone Lick Park the other day... the collard greens were amazing... everything else was so-so (be prepared for a touch of $ sticker shock). I was shocked by how great the Red Velvet Cake was... super-tall, super-moist, not too sweet. The frosting clearly was made with butter and cream cheese and was heavily studded with chopped pecans. The slice was large enough to share (and then some). I ordered the Pecan Pie (which was a bit on the sad side) and ended up eating practically all of my dates' dessert. Will visit again, for the drinks (nice and strong, if you get the "right" bartender) and the def. for the Red Velvet Cake...

Pros: Red Velvet Cake, Collard Greens, Cool Ambience

Cons: Ordinary BBQ, Noisy, Inconsistent Service

While it took a little while for the waitress to discover we were sitting at one of her tables, the service was decent after that. All 4 of us liked the food, and portions were big. It seemed a touch overpriced, but if any of us had taken advantage of the all-you-can drink bloody mary's, momosa's, etc. it would have been just right! I appreciated th real maple syrup served with the pancakes.

I agree with the other reviewer. I had a similarly bad brunch. The food was really just not good at all, even the scrambled eggs were bad. The cost was higher than on menupages. And it was just a horrible value. Wouldnt go back.

Pleasantly surprised. I am very critical of BBQ and southern customs in general being a southern gal myself. This place more than surpassed my expectations. The service was great and the food even better. Dry rubbed baby back ribs were some of the best, leanest I've ever had. The $3.50 margaritas and mojitos are nothing to look over either, they were delicious. Highly recommend this place.... for anyone!

Brunch is not really a good value. The wait staff is told to basically watch the tables and be sure to cut them off when 60 minutes of "unlimited" mimosas is reached. Additionally, the wait staff times your drinks... you finish one and they wait 10 minutes before they entertain the thought of bringing you another..which is fine if you didn't entertain it as being unlimited mimosas on the sidewalk sign... Had the chicken been good then I wouldn't have minded the rude waiter or the lack of "unlimited drinks".. The chicken was probably 2 days old and left a lot to be desired. Additionally, the waiter copped an attitude when I asked him for condiments 5 minutes after receiving my food. We were there for fifty minutes and did not even reach the 60 minute unlimited drinks time limit. While the macaroni and cheese was good... the chicken left a bad taste in my mouth, LITERALLY! Perhaps creating a hostile relationship between the customer and waiter is the goal of the management... and in this respect, the management succeeds!

I ordered from Bone Lick for my company's holiday party. We had 3 whole turkeys smoked for us in addition to a whole suckling pig! Not to mention a whole slew of sides like mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and thier amazing brown sugar yams. Everything was so wonderful. The food was so awesome and really out of almost 100 employees- not a single one complained!!!! That is no small feat! The whole pig was succulent and just crazy to look at and the turkeys were actually moist. I've been getting so many compliments on how great the food was, I just had to share. This place is a real crowd pleaser, my employees are all asking me for the lunch menu now! Ordering was easy and the delivery was right on time. I recommend Bone Lick to cater for any occasion.

This place is affordable, friendly and tasty. Enough so that I meet up with friends here weekly to enjoy a few refreshing mojitos or margaritas. As other reviewers suggest, if you're only going to try one thing, get the pulled pork. Its the closest to Carolina-style pulled pork that you'll find. Its far better than some of its competitors in the city, especially those pretenders in the Times Sq. area. They leave a bottle of sauce on the table as tastes may vary.

If you're interested in the brisket, ask your server first whether its a good brisket night. Also, the catfish is fairly reasonable and the salads are better than you'd expect. On the other hand, avoid the burger and the fries. In terms of atmosphere, sitting at the bar or outside is the way to go. When you sit at the bar, the gigantic coke sign tends to turn everything around you an interesting shade of orange.

I love the Pulled Pork here. It is smoky and tender. Never dry and just the right amount of sauce. And if you come during lunch, its only $7 and come with slaw and soup. I also really enjoyed the ribs and the brisket. I had a combo of them with mac and cheese and i left feeling full and happy. And they have a great happy hour deal. i recommend this place to anyone who knows real BBQ when they taste it.

I went here for lunch, starved. The pulled pork sandwich was way more bun than pork, and it didn't come with fries. Rather, it came with a smaller-than-a-dixie-cup portion of cole slaw. The pork itself was OK, but the enormous store-bought white bread bun overwhelmed it. I didn't even need the wet nap provided at the end of my meal. My water never came, nor did it come for the patrons at other tables. For the first time in my life, I left a BBQ joint hungry. The meal was about as satisfying as a meal at McDonald's, but for three times the price. The waiter was nice enough, but clueless. For the record, the happy hour beer is only bottled bud or bud light. I had a small sandwich and a soda, and (with the tax and tip) spent $15. I won't be going back.

THIS PLACE IS SO GREAT. I LOVE THIER BBQ ESPECIALLY THE RIBS AND THE PULLED PORK. THEY HAVE AWESOME SIDE TOO! AND THIER FRIED CHICKEN IS SOME OF THE BEST IN THE CITY. BUT I HAVE TO SPEAK OF THE FABULOUS BRUNCH I HAD THERE THIS WEEKEND. THEY SERVED HOMEMADE MINI MUFFINS WITH THIS AMAZING JAM. I HAD THE FRENCH TOAST- WHICH IS TO DIE FOR- AND MY FRIEND HAD THE FETA OMELETTE. WE WERE BOTH VERY HAPPY WITH OUR FOOD. BUT THE BEST PART IS UNLIMITED DRINKS! THERE IS NO BETTER DEAL IN THE CITY. AND I MUST SAY THE SERVICE IS IMPECCABLE. EVERYONE IS SO FRIENDLY. MY WAITER WAS ATTENTIVE AND THE BARTENDER EVEN GAVE ME EXTRA STRAWBERRY PUREE FOR MY MARGARTIA, WITHOUT ANY HESITATION EVEN THOUGH SHE SEEMED REALLY BUSY. I WILL BE BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN. THIS IS A GREAT SPOT.

The only good thing I can say about this place is that the portions are decent. The pulled chicken was flavorless as it had not been seasoned at all, the drinks were watered down, the service was awful. Even though the place was empty the service was relatively slow and when the food finally arrived the server brought the wrong order. Only after my party finished their food (about 20 minutes later) was my order served. When the bill came we were charged for the mistaken order in addition to the order we had in fact placed. After we brought this to the attention of the server a new bill was delivered. The second bill was wrong too; we were overcharged for one of the plates. After bringing this mistake to the attention of the supposed bartender/manager we were then given a third bill in which an increase was listed for the drinks we ordered! The bartender rudely explained that this was due to her correction of an oversight made on the two previous bills!? In short, if you must give this place a try - CHECK YOUR BILL AND CHECK IT GOOD.

I happend to stop by this place while wondering around the west village aimlessly. I saw there lunch special and decided to stop in. I got a great deal on a pulled pork sandwich that comes with either a bowl of soup or a salade. Must say the pulled pork sandwich was Very satisfying and for 6.95 it's a lunch time bargen.

When my husband and I left the South and moved to the West Village ten years ago, we thought we'd never have good bbq again. (Beggin' your pardon, but, Dallas BBQ has nothin' to do with either) But man, we were whistlin' dixie after our first trip to the Bone Lick Park. I can sum up my eatin' experience in just five words: Ribs, ribs, ribs, ribs, ribs. Do not pass go; do not collect your Friday paycheck; spend every cent you have on their Baby Back ribs. Not too sweet, not too spicy, just right.

I was greeted at the door promptly by a sever who was holding 3 different plates in his arms, he pleasantly told me he would be right back to seat me as soon as he was free, without any annoyance or distress in his face. I was surprised at this and already felt comfortable. When I was seated I started off with with a yummy margarita; the flavor was packed with peach, Georgia peach to be exact. Then I took the waiters recommendation and tried the Full Rack of Baby Back Ribs, which always includes one side of my choice!
Bone Lick Park is the perfect addition to the neighborhood. And I fully recommend to my closest of friends and family as well as my neighbors and fellow New Yorkers.

I was greeted at the door promptly by a sever who was holding 3 different plates in his arms, he pleasantly told me he would be right back to seat me as soon as he was free, without any annoyance or distress in his face. Pros: Amazing Ribs, Perfect Timing , Friendly Staff

Cons: Big Portions, I Couldnt Try It All , In One Sitting!

.

this place is a great spot for some down home southern treats, the iceberg wedges and fried oysters really hit the spot and remind a southern transplant like myself of home. The minty mojitos were surprisingly strong for the low price of $3.50 and the ribs were exceptional....there is a warm feel about this place maybe its the wood smoke pit in the back or the huge coca cola sign. Whatever it is i'll be back again

Pros: food, drinks , service

The only good thing I can say about this place is that the service was prompt and accomodated our large group very well. In every other way though, it was average AT BEST. I have never tasted such dry, unflavorful baby back ribs and the oysters were so heavily breaded as to be almost inedible. The pulled pork was decent and so were the wings (not spicy though). The decor was totally uninspiring. Even our margaritas tasted like cheap tequila.
I will not be going back. Ever. There's too many great places in this city to waste my time on something so mediocre.

Maybe I came at a better time, but I found what was obviously the same owner helpful and really accommodating. I was part of n impromptu larger group and had several questions of my own. Not only did he go out of his way to find a place for us in the busy restaurant, but he walked a couple of people in our group through some particularly difficult dietary requirements.

As I had no such restrictions, I feasted on the baby back ribs, baked beans and cornbread and enjoyed every bite. The service was very friendly, and I love the room - unlike any other in the city.

Would I go back? No quesion about it. I love ths place.

Pros: Great staff, Awesome room, Best ribs in NYC

Cons: Only one location

I called yesterday with two questions and was told to look at the menu. I went anyway and was greeted by the rude owner who practicly ripped our outside drink from our hands (although we were trying to throw it out anyway.) He then sat at the front door the entire time making phone calls and making the entire lunch hour feel tense.

The waiters are usually cute and friendly and effective, but they seemed understandably on edge under the circumstances. The lunch special for 6.95 are a great deal. I love the Coca Cola sign behind the bar and the Woolworth vintage chairs.

Bone Lick Park could stand to get real bread rolls as opposed to the processed Wonder Bread type. The owner would probably be better put to use behind the scenes dealing with business--leaving the floor open to the friendly and competent staff.

after reading the reviews, i decided to go here on my birthday yesterday. at first the service was snail slow, but after flagging down a different waiter, it was ok. the food was good, not great. the oyster were too heavily breaded, the iced tea not sweetened. ever try to but sugar into regular iced tea? you can never disolve the sugar. the bbq sauce was excellent. the onion rings ok only. pulled pork ok only. catfish good but could use a bit of flavor. sides were good. overall, ok but i would not make a special trip there.

Cons: service, iced tea, lemonade

We took two visitors from England and it was superb.

We had the onion rings - sweet and done right. Green bean salad was tasty but could have used a bit more of a kick

Baby backs - Wow! Meat wasn't fall-off-the bone (a sign of over-cooking) but was tender and had deep flavor.

Texas ribs - Tasty. Touch more dense than I was expecting. Not melt in your mouth but very good.

Smoked Turkey - Tasty - needed the sauce.

Pulled pork - Terrific!

Yams - delicious.
Lima beans and Collard Greens could have used more flavor but were enjoyable.
Mac and cheese - Good.
Cornbread - Good.

Service - Great waiter. Friendly and attentive.

Good value. Will be back again. Perfect place to take visitors, especially foreigners. No where in the world can you get this food and Bone Lick Park represents it well!

Enjoy.

This West Village eatery has the look of a diner---chrome trimming around vinyl booths and a long bar---but it's all about one thing: barbecue. The Carolina pulled-pork and the barbecued chicken, smoked out back in the pit, are worth theā€¦
