All I can say is that this is my *go-to* place for great sports massages. As a pretty hard core athlete, I do about 8 different sports including some on a highly competitive level: open water and pool swimming; biking; running;

I had a great sports massage here two days ago with Kristen - I'm really impressed! I have had shoulder and calf/achilles problems for awhile and despite getting massages every 2-4 weeks, I haven't been able to loosen up and not feel injured. After my massage at LA Sports Massage I've been feeling SO much better! Kristen was able to loosen and relieve a lot of the knots I've had in my neck and shoulders as a result of swimming for years and my achilles hasn't been as painful when I walk or run. I left feeling like a brand new person!

I highly recommend coming here for a good recover sports massage. Kristen was awesome and Dennis (who I think may be the owner?) seemed really cool and seemed to have a lot of knowledge too.

I will definitely be coming back soon!

I decided to make an appointment on a Friday night so I called expecting the answering machine and to maybe hear back the next day. Dennis picked up at 11:30pm on a Friday night! He was super nice and made an appointment for me the next day. (I hope I don't encourage everyone to do this as I'm sure he doesn't need calls at all hours). The massage with Kristin was great. You could tell she knew how to target the problem areas. I went in to address my overworked arms from being at a desk (been dealing with it for 2 years), plantar fasciitis, and hips/lower abs. The hips/abs are almost completely pain free after one session. I think I've noticed improvements in my arms and feet, but will need more time to tell. I definitely plan on going back.

I have been having calf muscle pains from over-exercising and I couldn't go to a physical therapist anymore because my insurance won't authorize me. Dennis and his team helped tremendously with their massages and educated me what's happening to my muscles and future preventative measures. They are very friendly and very eager to help. I always feel better after my 30 minute massage and have been going continuously to fully recover.

I ran across LA Sports Massage as I perused the Internet for a place I could stop on the way home from the office. Although I love the spa experience, I never seem to get a decent massage from any of them. Highly frustrating when you're tense and sore from a workout and in need of some intuitive body work.

I met with Mike Krasovec and immediately felt at ease with his confidence and knowledge of anatomy and physiology. It's always a better massage when the therapist is as active as you are (or more!) and knows instinctively what muscle groups are in need of the most "loving". With some massage and stretching, I was ready to get back on the road and log some miles without any stiffness or pain.

LA Sports Massage will be my new go-to place for all my massages from now on!

Getting a massage at LA Sports Massage is like no other. It is the very best. Relaxing and feels great but it's different from most massage in that it is therapeutic with lasting results. I highly highly recommend.

Dennis and his staff are amazing. They truly understand physiology and really know how to relieve painful or inflexible muscles. They can really get you moving again! They are also extremely community minded, sponsoring such organizations as the LA Tri Club, LA Leggers, Team in Training, the La Grange Velo Club and the Pay It Forward Challenge. They're equally welcoming to beginning sports enthusiasts and world champion athletes. Give them a try!

Massage is the quintessential "personal" thing and a review of a massage place might make as much sense as say, rating your favorite memory against someone else's. That being said, there's something we all are expecting in a great massage: bodywork that feels good where we need it. That requires communication, a relaxing, but not precious, atmosphere, and an attentive and skilled bodyworker. LA Sports Massage provided all that.

I called on a weekday morning and got a same-day appointment with Michelle.

The office is a nondescript storefront on Washington Blvd. near Culver City, and looks a bit sterile on the inside, kind of like a dentist's lobby. But don't let outer appearances sway you. I came for one thing only: to get a good massage that was, as Goldilocks would say, not too hard and not too soft, but just right.

I got the Sports massage with Michelle. She was great. No-nonsense, very confident and calm, not chatty when I told her I was not a big talker. Great attention to the quirkiness of this particular cyclist's body; competent communication, not one of these massage therapists you find in chiropractic offices who go on "auto pilot." It took me a little while to relax and I got there with Michelle.

The music player in the room even had a dock so I could hook up my own iPod and listen to music that I found relaxing instead of what was playing. Also, it wasn't overly air-conditioned, but spare and clean and neat and mmmm I just melted into the massage and emerged blissed out.

I will definitely be returning to LA Sports Massage again.

I've paid as little as $39 for a massage at other places, and this $90 was definitely worth it.

Renzo really knows how to work on your problem spots. He did wonders on my tight calf muscles and made some good suggestions about other steps I could take to help with the tightness in my calf muscles.

I would recommend him for any serious athlete!

I have been put through the ringer.

and I mean this in the best possible way. Seriously.

If you want a massage that can really pinpoint areas given by very well trained sports massage specialists, then this is your place.

Do you have to be an "athlete" to come here? Hell no. I know many an athlete that has benefitting from visiting this place, but your average, everyday mortal can also benefit from these targeted techniques. Is it going to be all "trickling fountain in the background, time to go to sleep"? no. Are you going to feel some serious work being done to problem areas? yup.

Sean (Shawn? Shaun? - sorry!) spent time on the areas I had noted in my form and really made notable progress on alleviating some tightness. He found some new spots where I did not know I was tight, but I think it brings joy to massage therapists to find those happy little spots, don't you agree?

He showed me a little stretch I could do for my fasciitis tendon that will help me as I put in longer miles in training. He spent time on my very abused lower back and my even more abused shoulders. I finished the session feeling a bit sore, but for the better.

This place is clean, there seems to be ample parking, it is easy to get to (right across from Rainbow Market) and I look forward to my next session.

I had my first massage with Renzo last night and it was amazing. Having had massages before but never a sports massage, I had no idea what to expect. Five minutes in and I knew I was being treated to something special. After little instruction, he honed in on all of my problem areas with firm yet gentle touches. After an hour, I was hooked. I walked out feeling like million bucks and even better today. I would highly recommend LA Sports Massage to any athlete, novice like myself to elite. Treat yourself, you will not be disappointed.

I'm very happy to have re-connected with LA Sports Massage at their new location on Washington Blvd. I had requested very specific work on deep-seated,hard-to-reach muscle groups. Dennis and Jason were 'spot-on' with their work. As a cyclist, I have seen an improvement with leg speed and power based on massage work. LA Sports Massage staff are true professionals with progressive knowledge in sports massage. We're lucky to have them on the westside! Location is convenient and parking is abundant.

I heard about LA Sports Massage from the coaches at Team in Training. I hadn't been running very long when I developed horrible pain in my right knee due to IT Band tightness. I rested, stretched, used the foam roller, went to a physical therapist, and strengthened but I still couldn't run a mile even. Finally, I made an appointment at LA Sports Massage. After one massage, I was able to run noticeably better than before. After two massages, I had no problem and ran five miles three days later. A week later, I made it to eight. The massage isn't exactly enjoyable (I had bruises to prove it) but the staff is very professional and made me feel very comfortable. I cannot recommend this place enough for anyone with lingering injuries that they just can't fight.

I've been getting massages for many years from several different therapists, but Michelle McLafferty is easily the best. She has good knowledge of the human body and is able to provide very specific advice and care to someone who is very physically active, such as myself.

Each time I brought an injury I had to her attention, she was able to give a detailed advice on how to heal and also any dangers that I should look out for.

She is also very personable and easy to talk to. I highly recommend that you get a massage from Michelle, especially if you're a hard-training athlete and want to enhance your performance.

Amazing! Denis is the best massage therapist in the world! He has cured me and I have had a LOT of issues. He is strong and intuitive and just PERFECT... Best massage ever! And the table is high end, comfortable and heated. The room is toasty warm too. My muscles are sooo happy!
I'd go every day if I had the time! I can not recommend them highly enough and I've been getting massages frequently for the last 11 years. I am thrilled that I discovered LA SPORTS MASSAGE!

I went to LA Sports Massage with a six year old back injury. PT, medications, etc gave some relief but after two massage sessions I am pain free and able to resume strenuous physical trainning.
Impressive is the fact that they do not want you make a new appointment. They are hoping your problem is fixed and they never see you again.

This is the first time having a sports massage. After about 3 years with a recurring injury in both wrists (tendonitis, tendonosis), I finally did some research on the cycle of tendonitis that people get trapped in. The usual anti-inflammatories, icing, and splinting did nothing for me but relieve the pain for a short while, but couple of days later, i'd be right back in the same spot. The therapist working on me is Raul, very cool guy, knows what he's doing and did an excellent job. I have more strength, endurance, and more range of motion. What surprised me was my second visit when he told me he did some extra research on his own and consulted with a chiropractor, it shows how dedicated these therapists are and that they would go the extra mile for you. i HIGHLY recommend this place, and i have!

I found this place great for my running-related aches and pains. Dennis was able to pinpoint the muscles causing the pain and provide not only relief but good information on how to self treat, icing, stretching, etc. It goes way beyond the massage you would get at a normal massage place, even if you tell them to target the same area. I would say this place is well worth the money if you need specific treatment, but a little expensive if you just want a general feel-good massage. I'm definitely going back.

I just love going to LA Sports Massage. It's in a nice location, overlooking the Marina, and the space is pleasant. But the best part is the great group of skilled, caring therapists. I've worked with 4 different massage therapists there and each one has been fantastic. One is no longer with them, but I can highly recommend Raul, Michelle and Dan. They know their stuff, listen to my complaints, and attack them. I've worked with dozens of massage therapists, and I know a good massage when I get one. I highly recommend LA Sport Massage. After multiple surgeries on a bad joint in my toe, I developed scar tissue that seriously limited the joint?s mobility. For six months, the scar tissue caused me lots of pain, particularly when I ran or played beach volleyball.

I thought my situation was hopeless, until I discovered LA Sports Massage. The staff performed ART (active release techniques) on my bad toe. I felt tremendous improvement in the joint after my FIRST session! The hands-on therapy provided by the staff is exceptional. It?s exactly what I needed to break up the scar tissue and regain mobility in the joint.

If you have a soft tissue problem, go see the staff at LA Sports Massage. They fixed my scar tissue problem in just a few sessions. I?m so grateful to them. Now, I?m tearing up the beach volleyball court at full speed again!

I first encountered LA Sports Massage at a hockey tournament. The few minutes I spent with Shea convinced me that I had found a service that could address the various muscle issues I've acquired playing ice hockey. I've subsequently had sessions with Michell and Raul and can state that they find the the source of the problem I'm experiencing, work on it, and make it possible for me to return to the ice.
One person here mentioned the need to invest in one's body, and I would have to agree. It is not inexpensive, but anything as helpful as this is worth it. I have been to different stripmall-massage businesses, and they don't cut it when it comes to providing the informed, professional service an athelete needs, so I recommend LA Sports Massage to everyone.

I've been running with LA Leggers for years. I've had a persistent problem with my IT Band. I've usually ended up in physical therapy. Then I discovered sports massage. I didn't know what it was and had never done it before. I was set up with Raul and he is the best. He dug until it hurt but he freed up my IT Band and I was back running without missing a beat. Raul is very personable and very discrete. But most of all he's very good. I highly recommend Raul at LA Sports Massage.

Dennis was recommended to me by my coach for Team In Training. I was struggling with different aches and pains related to my training for an Ironman. Well, I finished that race feeling quite good because of the wonderful care I received from Dennis prior to race day. He knows his stuff! He knew exactly how to approach several problems that I was having with both of my legs. I highly recommend anyone to make an appointment if they are in need of some serious care!

I compete in ultramarathons and tris, and beat my body up a lot. I've been seeing Dennis regularly for about a year now, and he has done a great job at getting me past some long-standing injuries as well as keeping me tuned up. I send everybody to him. Sitting around talking with him after one session, in walked the Ironman World Champion Chris McCormack for the next appointment. That gives you some confidence in your body worker! Every time I go, I reflect back on all those years I didn't get regular body work and wonder, what was I thinking?

I have been using LA Sports Massage for the past two years to heal injuries, recover faster and feel better while training for ironman triathlon racing. As an endurance athlete my body takes a serious beating. The only way to keep up with my level of training and the physical stress on my body is to get consistent deep tissue massage. I can't tell you how many times I have gone to Dennis Lisaius at LA Sports Massage because of a different part of my body being sore, tight or in pain. But, without fail, each and every time he has been able, through the magic touch of his massage and other techniques inlcuding ART, to revive and speed the recovery of my body. Because of him and LA Sports massage I have never had to pull out of a race or stop training once over the past two years despite many injuries. He has also always been on-time, very professional and responsive. I highly recommend everyone who is an athlete or anyone who enjoys the benefits of deep tissue massage go to LA Sports Massage.

I've been seeing Dennis @ LA Sports massage for two years now. I found him via LA Tri Club, when I got my first bad injury (IT band). Dennis helped me with that injury (my muscles were very tight & knotty after years without much stretching and no massage at all). I was so impressed that I kept seen him on a weekly basis just for maintenace.

A year later, when I was two month away for my first Ironman event, I had a bike crash that got me on the brink of giving up (this time it was my left leg that got in serious trouble). Dennis' amazing skills brought me back to training within a week, so I managed to successfully complete both my training and my IM event.

Throughout the years, I've learned that whenever I'm in trouble with an injury, Dennis and his staff are gonna be there for me on the shortest of notices, always ready to help.

Dennis & Don are great. For the last 2 years that have kept me going on a weekly basis allowing me to ride 150+ miles and row a single scull twice a week at age 61. Recently they rehabed me through 7 broken ribs, a severe sacral bruise and torn paraspinal muscles when a careless motorist threw open a car door so fast that I did not even see it no less avoid it. I was originally refered to them by some of LA's elite bicycle racers who regularly use their services.

As a college student, spending $90 dollars on a sports massage is a bit difficult to swallow, even with people from all corners telling you that it is essential that you get one. I realize that $100 dollars (or $90 for me, as a triathlon club member) is totally normal for a Los Angeles massage, but for a student, that is quite a bit of change! However, after a few weeks of my running getting more and more painful, and my body feeling more and more exhausted, I knew it was time to spend the cash. My neck had been aching, my lower back twinging, and my legs were tight as drums. Now, after a sports massage from Dennis, I realize now that the cost is not simply a cost, but an investment in my body and mind. Dennis is a truly wonderful person, as well as the most ridiculously talented masseur. He welcomed me in to his beautiful new office (right on the water on Marina del Ray) and gave me a very brief tour with a true sense of pride. After that, he asked me my injuries, anything he needed to be aware of, etc. After the massage began, I was completely hooked. The feeling is intense, but only painful for moments at a time. Most of the time, it is quite simply blissful and delightul. I am a talker, so for most of the time, Dennis and I gabbered away about Triathlon and massage. He made me feel right at home and so comfortable. After the massage, I was completely zenned out. I got up feeling incredibly serene, without any pain! It was miraculous. Today is the day after, and I still feel so much better and more flexible than I have for weeks. If I had the money, I would gladly go once a week. However, the nicest thing I can possibly say is that even though it's a bit expensive (only for me, it is completely normal price for a Los Angeles massage) I will save up and go once a month to improve my performance and spiritual well-being. Thank you Dennis, for such a wonderful afternoon!

Cons: That he's not located in downtown LA! ;-)

I used to think a massage was just a massage. . . whether it was a walk-in storefront or a glitzy spa. Then I heard about LA Sports Massage through my running group in Santa Monica. As a marathon runner and avid cross-trainer, I tend to tweak, tense, and knot up my muscles pretty frequently. The therapists at LA Sports Massage have done an amazing job at identifying exactly what is tweaked, tense, and knotted and use specialized and advanced techniques specific to relieving sports related injuries. I have had numerous massages with both Dennis and Dan and would (and have) recommend(ed) them to anyone that leads an active lifestyle and desires a very personalized massage. LA Sports Massage sponsored free massages after the LA Marathon for my running club and I received the most amazing post-race massage from Dan. The tense aches and pains withered away under his firm and focused hands. Two days later, I was back on the table to see Dennis - not necessarily because I NEEDED it, but more because it just feels that great and I am convinced it impacts and improves my running performance.

I have their number in speed dial - just in case I happen to have a REALLY bad long distance training run. And they have accomodated a very last minute request graciously and efficiently!

If you are an extreme athlete, a weekend warrior, or a casual exercise enthusiast - don't waste your time with impersonal uneducated therapists. LA Sports Massage continues to train, learn, and stay abreast of advanced techniques and biological structure. I only trust my marathon legs to the hands of Dan and Dennis. I will never be just a walk-in somewhere again.

Pros: Dan's hands! Dennis' personality!

Cons: Is there really a con to getting a great massage overlooking the marina?

An absolute must for any sports related injury.

I found Dennis 5 days before the marathon when I was nursing what I thought was a knee injury. He was able to accurately diagnose me with a twisted ankle and spent 1/2 hour addressing the affected areas. I returned three days later for a follow-up and he got me ready for the marathon two days later.

I could not have crossed the finish line without his expertise.

As long as I continue to run, I will keep him as part of my regiment.

Wow! I had the very BEST experience with a body worker, EVER. I had a revolutionary breakthrough of the flesh such that I recognize Dennis as my body's guru - I am NOT kidding! The man has such IMMENSE knowledge/training and a VERY palpable passion for healing the body...

For me, he purely & intuitively employed Reiki, Rolfing, Sports Massage and some ART (Active Release Therapy, the stuff a really good Chiropractic studies if he believes in massage) and more - I am just blown away by the results! As someone who had suffered with chronic pain for almost two years, I had resigned myself to feeling off balance and body-cranky for life. All past efforts for relieving my compound body snarls fell pretty far short of the goal. But, in just one session with Dennis, I felt that all that I had suffered was acknowledged, and then touched and then lovingly but, firmly moved on OUT. A ruptured appendix that was never removed, a lung that had virtually stopped taking air, a clavicle that seemed permanently out of place - these all seemed transformed into problems that had never been! I had a lot of fluid in my lungs but I never felt embarrassed, Dennis encouraged me to let myself let go completely - I did. Today, I can breathe!

I'm out skateboarding as soon as I press 'enter' and I'm riding the hills tomorrow on my mountain bike! I haven't ridden in SOOOO long...

The best of all this is, I know I can stay light, loose and supple like this ongoingly - I know that a tight and unhappy body DOES have recourse - it's Dennis!

Do yourself a favor - drive to his new studio 'round sundown, like I did and catch an unfailingly gorgeous Marina sunset while heading up the steps to a heated massage table with the best smelling sheets and let yourself completely receive Dennis' amazing gift of relief! Do it NOW!

LA Sports Massage makes you feel comfortable and like a pro at the same time. I broke my clavicle last summer and that encouraged me to seek pain relief during my rehabilitation. Dennis has helped me to deal with the muscle pain and tension caused by such a trauma through massage and advice on other things I can do to help the healing. If I don't have time for a full massage, Dennis will always find the time for whatever I need--15 minutes, half hour, whatever I request! He really listens to what YOU and your body need. The LA Sports Massage organization is a giving, generous and healing place and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to try massage therapy.

Although regular massage is critical for serious athletes, to avoid injury and promote recovery, it is also tremendously beneficial for weekend warriors and non-athletic people to promote healthy posture and avoid low-back pain. Dennis Lisaius understands the key role that regular massage plays in my endeavors (work and play) and has demonstrated a commitment to rendering high-quality care.

I have been using LA Sports massage for years and no other massage can compare! As a new mom, I have my shares of aches and pains and STRESS. I tend to carry my stress in my mid back and the therapists at LASM know exactly how to unwind all of those knots! Dennis is my personal fav. He has the perfect touch for my tightly wound muscles and the effects last for days. I couldn't get through my busy days as a nutritionist, homeopath, business owner, wife and mother without the caring, competent touch of LASM! Even though I am not an athlete per se, they are instrumental in my health and wellbeing. So even regular folk like me get the royal treatment...you don't have to be a triathlete!

Dennis really knows an athlete's body. I've been a competitive athlete for nearly 18 years. Now that I am in my thirties, training at the same intensity as previous years requires I take care of my body. I will definitely let Dennis help me in that endeavour. I recently had a hard brick workout (bike/run) in the early part of the day, went to him for a massage in the afternoon, and managed to have one of my best swims ever later that evening. After a 90% effort brick workout, I shouldn't have been able to swim that well, but after that massage I just felt long, relaxed and strong in the water. Double workout days are typical for me since I put in 20 hours of training per week, and Dennis' massages are a great way to keep my body healthy.

I've been getting weekly massages from Dennis for the last 4 months. He is the best massage around. He knows the athlete's body, what is needed and how long it'll take to remedy. He really cares about his work. He's a true healer right here in Los Angeles.

I met Dennis at many of the triathlons I competed in and talked to him about scheduling an appointment many times. There was never any pressure from him, but after my first Olympic distance race, which was my third race in 4 weeks, I decided to give LA Sports massage a try. I had always thought of massages as "treats" on birthdays or holidays, but after seeing Dennis, I have decided to incorporate them into my training routine.

From the first call until I walked out the door, I felt very relaxed and as though I was in good hands. Dennis is knowledgeable, professional, and skillful. The rooms are clean and the atmosphere was relaxing. My trouble spots, which were discussed before the massage began, were addressed. Places I was tight and needed to be stretched more were also treated.

I highly recommend making LA Sports Massage part of your recovery regiment too. I know my tired and sore body thanked me for doing so!

I've been having massages for over twenty years now & am really picky about who I stay with for body work. Dennis is a sweetheart who'll listen to exactely what you say your body needs to recover from or what you need pre-event day, & then he'll help your body get ready. Anything from deep tissue to help with lactic acid buildup or gentle massage for over-exerted muscles, or shiatsu, Dennis has these & more in his massage repertoire. Punctual, big smile, very reasonable rates, I couldn't possibly recommend him more. Dennis is a regular & necessary part of my athletic life & I am thankful to have found him.
