First of all, with a name like Coco Noche, and it's claiming to be a tapas place, I was expecting Spanish food. Silly me! It was mainly Korean inspired food on the menu. And bad korean food to boot. I ordered Basil chicken on wonton crisps. I didn't expect it to be cold chicken salad from the description on the menu. We also ordered the Maandu (" We don?t like to brag, but these are really good." HA) that were supposed to be the best thing on the menu. They tasted like deep fried hot pockets. Both were not completely inedible, but I could do better in the freezer aisle of trader joes for less money and i could have gotten a lot more food. Then we ordered dessert. One was the chocolate fondue and the other was the Marquise au chocolat, which won a dessert award in 1995. Let me start with the fondue. It wasn't fondue! It was warm but not in a fondue tureen. The chocolate was not good at all. It tasted like the 'special' chocolate they put in chocolate fountains that doesn't solidify. I am a major chocolate lover and was disappointed that they didn't make fondue in the traditional, proper way. They give you four different things to dip in the fondue. Pretzels, pound cake, strawberries and bananas. The pretzels were fine, I think we got 4. The pound cake was boring. Frozen Sarah Lee stuff is better. The strawberry (yes, there was only one but it was sliced up so I think they thought they fooled me) was not ripe- it was mostly white and green. The banana was fine. Now lets move on to the second dessert. I would have been satisfied with it if they didn't say on the menu that a main ingredient was baked hazelnuts. There were two hazelnuts. This was supposedly their best dessert. It was tasty, not amazing. I got the smooth red wine flight too. It was ok, not wonderful. All in all, the experience was majorly disappointing and the bill was ridiculous. Skip it and go to Trader Joes for the food, wine, and chocolate and I promise you a much better experience.

Pros: the restaurant is right where it belongs!

Cons: too far away from the strand, should one feel the need to dash out and upchuck.

It was the worst meal that my husband and have had in a very long time. The only good part about the experience was the wine. We called ahead and asked if they could accomodate a special diet (dairy-free), they stated that that was not a problem. However, they couldn't create anything other than a veggie burrito... even though we called a week in advance. The woman described a 3 course meal that they could create for us. When we arrived, they had completely forgot about us and didn't have the ingredients to the courses that she had promised. The meal they created "on the fly" was terrible. We paid $25.00 each for cold, bland, small burritos. Next time, we will go to El Burrito Jr!!
The service was poor. Lazy wait staff. We had to wait and wait just for a glass of water. I will never return!!!
Don't waste your time or your money!!!

Coco Noche was a nice place for an after dinner glass of Cab and lucious chocolate dessert. It has that feeling of a "local spot".It was a little bit of a tight space but other than that we will return again.

I think the original concept of wine/chocolate bar is great.. wine list is very decent and the food is good, service it's actually good too... but something is missing!! (or maybe there are many things going on...) it's not inviting, too much light and those counters look more like they belong to a pharmacy -absolutely out of place!! For the price, you can get better ambiance somewhere else...

Too much of a hype, over priced in general. you can get those chocolate and wines at whole foods for way cheaper and we all know whole foods is not cheap. The place is too small and crowded. not worth it!! the only "korean influence" i see was when the cook was microwaving the pre-packed frozen dumplings at $8.50 / order.

Kind of a place that want to be kept secret for a handful of people. Like a little hidden romantic boutique in Marais. Chocolate lovers would find this place heavenly. Perfect for after dinner sip and dessert. Nice wine and chocolate tasting course. I haven't tried their tapas menu, but based on the dessert and wine I had there, I'm willing to try anything next time. Seating is limited. Service is good but could be on the slow side -- which is okay if you're on a good date.

Pros: Dessert. Wine. Ambience. Design. Ice wine by glass.

Cons: Service could be slow. Limited selection on port wine.

I went there with a group of friends last weekend. The place is Korean meets French (because of chocolates and desserts). The food concept is Korean "tapas". First of all I'm getting tired of seeing every restaurant use "tapas" as their description of appetizers. Tapas is the word used for Spanish appetizers ONLY. Well many of the "tapas" have normal full meal prices but are only appetizer size. For a plate of Bul go-gi(Korean Barbecued Beef) that consisted of a few slices of beef and 4 lettuce leaves they charge $15, a Bul go-gi wrap (beef in a flour tortilla) was $10, desserts are $9. If you want good Korean food go to Pacific Rim in Hermosa, get great food that is not overpriced. And for dessert, I would much rather have something at Le Pain Quotidien.
