Basically here is the deal. I went to Havan for a work get together. Normally we have a good time at other bars. However the service was horrible the music f*cking sucked, the drinks were weak and the f*cking FAT*SS SLOB OF A BOUNCER was a f*cking assh*le. He asked to see my ID like 5 times everytime I went in and out to have a smoke (even though I had a stamp from the bar on my wrist) then later on in the night he proceeded to kick me out due to his personal discretion. F*CK HAVANA! They think they are such a great bar when I have been to numerous "holes in the wall" that are 10 times the bar that this place is. I had to tell the f*cking bartender how to make a lemon drop shot (I ordered for a bunch of lady friends) I mean really? This place is the biggest JOKE for a bar in Seattle. DO NOT GO HERE! Not to mention tht if I hadn't been there for a work function I would have been VERY dissappointed due to the fact that the SAUSAGE Percentage to woman percentage was off the charts. This place will be a gay bar hang out in less than a year b/c of all the dudes. Heed the advice and avoid a all costs.

Love the atmosphere, love the people. It's not an upscale lounge where you'll feel uncomfortable. You can dress down or up and the people there are a fund crowd. The music is great, but they tend to play more current pop music on Saturdays. It's in the heart of Capitol Hill, so there's lots of bars to prefunk at. You can rent the top balcony area for a party (VIP area) or you can reserve a large table if you want to hold a party. But one person has to get there at 9:00 pm if you reserve a booth. The dance floor gets really crowded and hot, but it makes for better dancing! The bar tenders make amazing drinks and make sure to take care of you.

PROS: great music, fund diverse crowd, low key, great drinks, great dancing area

CONS: crowded

I have been here a couple times and I have always had a fun time, and in fact I did meet my last boyfriend here, but I think that was mainly a coincidence because there were simply soooooooo many people in the freaking place. You are definately bound to find someone you find attractive, no matter who you are.

I rolled in with a small group at around 11pm on a friday night, and was shocked to see no line! Cover wasn't bad, $7/e (guys and girls). The DJ was playing some great cuts, modern hip-hop with a few classic rap hits in between, and created a great atmosphere for dancing. Dance floor was fairly packed but there was definitely space to do your thing without accidentally grinding on a stranger. Oddly, dance floor seemed to have a PDA theme, as couples were making out all over the place. The bar was slick and clean, nothing over the top, and was well-staffed. We got our drinks (nobody ordered special cocktails, just standard rum/cokes, long-islands) fast and for fairly cheap, although I can't attest to the "strength" of the cocktails because I was drinking beer all night. Interesting mix of people here, more diversity than I've seen at other spots. Clean, good-looking diversity. Overall, I found Havana to be an awesome place for drinks and dancing - Unpretentious, clean, urban/modern vibe with a classy old-time Havana interior. Will definitely be returning soon.

I've heard good things about this club, and wanted to check it out. The night started off alright, but when taking a quick break from dancing I was approached by a security guard. Apparently, despite the long drink lines and weak drinks, I was too drunk and had to leave. It was nice of him to inform me because I had no idea. After rehashing the evening over and over, I still have no idea what set him off. Based on the remainder of my evening, and my cheery disposition the following morning I can confirm that I was okay.

It seemed like they wanted to get in new folks to pay new cover, and new folks that were planning to spend money on drinks. Perhaps I was really dancing too much and not drinking enough.

I left the club feeling insulted and powerless. I will not go back.

This is a place that is trying to replicate the feel of a snazzy, South Beach hotspot. Well, it was definitely hot.

There were far too many people packed into the bar and I began sweating almost immediately after entering. This of course, would have been fine if I could get a refreshing cocktail to cool me off.

There was no rhyme or reason to the order of service at the bar. I waited for over 25 minutes while people behind me and to the side of me got served their drinks. When I asked for a drink that was advertised on their website as being one their recommended cocktails, I was told that they don't serve those when it's busy.

After waiting half an hour to get in and then another half an hour to get drinks, I was in no mood to try to dance. Of course it would not have really been dancing anyway. Due the crowd size, it would have been more like bouncing against people. I left Havana very sober and very annoyed. I will not be back again.

I went to Havanna last night and when I order two mojitos the bartender (has a tattoo that says Yee Haw on his arm) said that will be $17, then when I told him I was paying with a credit card, he rung me up and all the sudden it was $15. Later on with the same bartender I order two Peligrinos and I mojito, when I asked how much he said $16, then when he rang it up, it was $11. Shaaaaaaaaaaaaady, I think someone was trying to get themselves a big tip but when he had to ring it up, had to come clean. What a loser! I will not be going back to this place.

I've been to Havana several times and I've never been disappointed. As far as decor and ambiance go--it's one of my favorite places in Seattle. Tucked in from the street, bold colors, tall windows, big plants, it all makes for a cozy tropical feeling. It's different from other bars/clubs in the area, and whether I show up for a mojito on a week night or go out with a group of friends on the weekend, I always have a good time.

After giving Havana quite a few tries, I am finally done. Not once but TWICE when I've been there, we've been asked to move because a table was "reserved". Once, we were guaranteed the "VIP" section, only to be bumped the night of by another party. Besides the management being totally disorganized and rude, the service is ALWAYS horrible, where bartenders are expected to double up as waiters instead of focusing on their own jobs. This is a huge disappointment of a club and even casual bar, as I do like to go there and have a few mojitos, but I feel like it's time to take my $500+ a night bar tab to a place that respects their customers more. Thanks for nothing, Havana!

After hearing all the hype and coming in once on an empty weeknight, I had high hopes for Havana until this Friday night. There was no telling where the line to the bar ended and the dance floor started while the DJ played mediocre music that was popular about a year ago. It reminded me of one of those middle school parties where the boys invited and the girls invited clearly do not match up, the result being a bunch of girls dancing in the middle of the room while the men stand on the outskirts awkwardly sipping their drinks and nodding their heads. At the end of the night a guy got sick in the middle of the dancefloor and really put the icing on the cake.

Just when the suburb crowds have figured out that Belltown was the place to be Seattlelites have got a brand new present - Havana. We hope that things, people and entertainment evolve and in case of Havana our hopes have been fulfilled. Take Belltown neatness, subtract the snobbiness, add more diversity and you have what could be a great destination of 2007.

I have been to Havana several times already and it has been an off and on kind of place. Now it seems like the buzz is catching on and you are guaranteed to rub elbows with a bunch of other twenty something year olds.

The absence of a known promoter evens out the egos in the crowd - you don't have the girls who are "with the DJ" and the guys who are "on the list" - everyone can get in most nights without cover. The drinks are well poured and the tables are positioned around the dance floor. Havana is small and it might become a victim of it's own success. It might be able to hold around 200 people comfortably.

One key thing about Havana is it's music selection. It seems like the DJs at Havana are not going out on a limb to be "original" which you often see nowadays. They rock different tunes, but 80% of the time they will play the music that puts people in a good mood. Old school Beastie Boys, Sean Paul, and Michael Jackson all have an equal opportunity to be played. The tunes go from old to new, from hip hop to pop with only one goal in mind - make sure everyone is doesn't stop shaking their booty!

Music is good and loud and the drinks are above average. Bartenders were still getting a feel for the place the time before last and seem to have it together now. You have to tolerate one or more door men who take their job too seriously - do so with a sense of humor. Inside, the space is good and there are many tuck-away spots for small parties. The dance floor is a little too close to the bar which makes for a lot of spills/near-spills. Ultimately, the location is such that it shelters you from some of the walker-by traffic that plagues the rest of the hill. The DJs are familiar - some of the same DJ's seen at other local underground hotspots like The War Room and Neumos.

Weeknights are the best. I have been on weekends and it is really crowded and definantly "the place to be", however, I like a bit of a more mellow hang out for my friends, and we have found havana to be a perfect place to grab a booth on a thursday or a Monday night. It isn't overcrowded, the DJ's play good music, and you can quietly people watch as you participate in nice conversations with friends at your table. i like that this bar turns into a crazy club on the weekends but stays a classy cocktail lounge on weeknights.... So if you like wildness, try a weekend, if you like mellow people watching with your friends and friendly barstaff, try a weeknight. I say try it out, but don't bring so many friends that you ruin my mellow evening at this great bar.

My birthday is on Sept. 11th, so we tend to schedule the party a couple weeks out from the anniversary and have a big bash then. We planned to meet at Havana. I found out that Havana only takes reservations via email, so be sure to get those in asap if you want to reserve a booth or upstairs room. The upstairs is swank, cozy, and gives you a birds-eye view of the dance floor. We settled into the white couches with mojitos and beer, soon eating up the pizzas we ordered in from next door. Lucky for us, we were able to make a last-minute reservation for the upstairs, but after two hours found out that Havana had accidentally double-booked us with another party they thought had cancelled. Their staff was really polite and apologetic about it, and cleared two booths downstairs for us. Fair enough. Besides, the upstairs room was starting to get REALLY hot. The booths were literally a cooler option.

The server who took care of us was perfect. She checked on us often, saw that our drinks were filled, our bill broken down from 17 people on one card (mine) to 10 different bills. She did this without an attitude, and was very helpful. Since all of us were sloshed on Paper Tigers and incredible bourbon by this point, her work was invaluable. Eventually, the dance floor picked up, we condensed our group to one big booth, and partied 'til 1am. We had a great time thanks to their staff.

The only critique I have is that the DJ really didn't seem to fit the venue. The "songs" were about 30 seconds long, 'til he switched to something else. It was hard to dance to, but everyone tried. It'd be great if they had a DJ that reflected the ambiance of the decor. Something with little latin beat would be perfect.

Thanks again to the folks at Havana for making my unbirthday unbelievably good.

Same old safe, boring DJing...why don't clubs take any risks these days? This place is kind of chi-chi and doesn't have the hipster vibe you might expect on Capitol Hill -- seems like it would fit in better in Belltown.

Popped in Friday happy hour for a couple and stayed for six. The cocktails were great. Some of the best I've had in town, or even in SF. Bartender was very mellow but very sharp (he was measuring the drink ingredients!?!?!) But the result was worth it -- I highly recommend a tour of their drink menu.

We went there on a Saturday and stood in line for about 45 minutes. It wouldn't have taken that long but the doorman kept letting other parties cut in front of us, which was infuriating. Once inside, the place was overpacked and we had to wait forever for a drink. When we finally got the waitress's attention, she told us she'd bring our drinks then never came back. When I asked her about it later, she said she had given them to someone else because she thought they were with our party. Most likely those drinks were put on our bill, which was not itemized at the end of the night. There are only a couple places to sit and the dance floor was packed. It was really hot in the place, too. Overall it was not a good experience, except for the good music.

We were hungry and our waitress ran across to Tribunali to get us pizza, even though she was totally busy, which was very sweet of her. Very cool under pressure. Delicous drinks. Make sure you check out the girls bathroom!

We were hungry and our waitress ran across to Tribunali to get us pizza, even though she was totally busy, which was very sweet of her. Very cool under pressure. Delicous drinks. Make sure you check out the girls bathroom!

Pros: Great crowd, great service

Cons: Pretty crowded

Stood in line for quite a while on Saturday but was happy once I got inside. Our waitress was SO busy but very attentive. Drinx were great. DJs kept everyone dancing -- great cuts, hot crowd. Very hot inside, but I see what the hype's about.

But unlike the original Frontier Room, there is plenty of light from the huge windows and tall ceilings, the bartenders are hot and the music is jumping. Don't forget to check out the secret balcony area above the DJ booth.

Havana is the perfect place to party on the weekends, and hang out during the week. The music is great, you can actually dance to it and not end up with a pounding headache. The drinks are good, reasonably priced and nice and strong. The crowd is a good mix of people, making you feel comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt to a suit and tie after work. I definitely enjoy the staff, they are friendly, cute, and unpretentious. My new favorite spot.

This is a really great place. The architecture and decor is both refreshing and relaxing. It's not your typical Seattle bar. There's an old style romance to the place. A classic style with a modern kick. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The drinks were tasty and strong. We had a great time and will definitely go back again.

If you love to be ignored by the waitstaff, listening to terrible music and constantly being bumped into this is your place! The architecture is great, but if I ever go again it wont be on a Saturday night. 25 minutes to get a bottle of beer is retarded. The DJ was playing all the same stuff you would hear on a 12 year old's i-pod. Yikes.

Tastefully decorated, unpretentious crowd, great drinks....what more do you want!

I've been there a couple of times and never left disappointed. Try the Signature Move off the cocktail menu.

I was lucky to be in Seattle over July 4 weekend and was also lucky to find myself having a fabulous time at Havana. What a gorgeous bar--romantic mood, soft lighting, fun dancing, great music and an attentive and knowledgeable staff.

Find your way to Havana, you will be lucky too.

What an impressive new bar. There really is nothing like this in Seattle, you feel like you are in a cuban hotel bar in the 1940's... It sort of feels like you should be in a black and white movie and some blonde film star should be walking around the room singing to the gentlemen as they smoke their cigars. And other than the beautiful decor (marble bar top, high bronze ceilings, upstairs loft overlooking the bar, gold light fixtures perfectly placed about the walls), the staff is one of the greatest I've found on the hill. I work accross the street and have been to Havana about 4 times since they opened 2 weeks ago and the happy hour waitress already greets me by name. The place is so nice inside, yet unpretentious, a great place to stop in before a show at neumos and grab an olympia, or before a fancy dinner at Via Tribianali for a fancy cocktail.... Check this place out, I will be at the corner barstool sipping an old fashioned.

Havana, aside from the lush wall colors - cozy booths & seriously swank decor, makes a DELICIOUS MOJITO! Fresh Mint, Good Rum - and NO Sprite. I love it! It's been the perfect refresher for the hot weather we have had.

Pros: Inviting, Cool, Comfy Booths - Beautiful Bar!

Cons: Lack of Signage......wheres the palm trees OUTSIDE?

In Short
The bright room offers a boatload of island atmosphere: an original tin ceiling, old-fashioned marble bar, vintage light fixtures and gently swaying potted palms. Big red booths and an open area encourage socializing,…
