Do they still precook the frites in CT and drive them to NY
in the trunk of a car? Is this safe, or even legal?

I was so thoroughly impressed with this place that it's tough to know where to start. First, their beer selection is great, and their bottles are very reasonably priced given the quality. The service is friendly, professional and attentive, yet unintrusive. Our group shared the mixed appetizers, which, at $28, was an incredible value. The gruyere cheese, pate and olives were especially wonderful. My boyfriend and I shared the moules frites, and neither of us walked away hungry. This is a huge amount of food. The mussels were wonderfully fresh and tender, and the vegetables were perfectly steamed and delicious. Everybody in our group of six raved about the experience. I can't wait to go back!

Moules Frites are very tasty and come as decently large portions. The frites are delicious, as well as the mayo dipping sauce that accompanies them. The beer selection is great, definitely try the cherry beer, as well as the Lucifer.

Great spot in the UES for casual dining with good food. Friendly staff and great beer selection. Definitely a nice change of pace from 2nd Avenue dining. We had the grilled calamari which was very tasty, lots of garlic. Mussels and fish special were superb. Chocolate cake for desert was molteny. We loved it!!!

We chose this restaurant because of its location and the fact that we've visited Belgium and loved the food. It's a small, quiet restaurant with a very acccomodating staff. The mussels, and fries were excellent and my beef stew was rich and flavorful. Our waitress was delightful and there when we needed her. We will be back.

I recently noticed this belgian bar/restuarant. Finally my boyfriend and I stopped in. Each beer has its own special glass and the bartender was very helpful explaining each beer. I am definitely going to go back to try more of the many beers. I highly recommend the Leffe Blonde its is very smooth and light. I had the tuna tartare and it was well seasoned, fresh and very delicious. In my opinion, once you try the beers here you won't wanna continue to drink bud, miller lite, corona or any of the beers you find at any local pub. I am so happy this placed opened up.

In summary: B. Cafe is the only establishment in North America that delivers the true Belgian cafe experience. For your information, I am Belgian, now living in Seattle.

We ordered the shrimp croquettes and "bitter ballen" as appetizers to go with our Hoegaarden. Both dishes were excellent, and very authentic. The beer was served in the appropriate Hoegaarden glass, and at the perfect temperature.

As our main main course, we ordered the steak frites and the moules provencales (mussels.)

The steak was of excellent quality, and exactly prepared as requested: "a point." The fries were "double fried" in the Belgian tradition. This creates the crispy crust on the outside, while keeping the inside softer. The fries were delivered at the perfect temperature. This is very important, and often overlooked by "Belgian Style" restaurants. In the Belgian tradition, mayonnaise for the fries was provided "a volonte."

The moules provencales were delicious. The mussels were of the exact right size and flavor, and served in the pots they were prepared in. Fantastic.

For dessert, we had the Belgian waffle and the chocolate cake. Both dishes were to die for.

As you would expect from a true Belgian cafe, the beer selection at B. Cafe is extensive, with both Hoegaarden and Stella readily available! For those who prefer liquor, do not worry, as the bar seemed adequately stocked as well.

The entire experience at B. Cafe is furthermore enhanced by level of detail the owners have put into B. Cafe, ranging from the quality of the ingredients to the way the dishes are prepared, to the Belgian accents in the decor, as well as the music . For those who speak French and/or Dutch, you will notice that even the music played at is truly Belgian.

Last but not least: the service is friendly, prompt and with Belgian joie-de-vivre. Enjoy!

I was so excited when I tried this restaurant for the first time. It is a great addition to the neighborhood. They're steaks are great and the fries amazing. And the hamburgers are out of this world. If you are a hamburger snob like me you will looove this place. Plus the owner was really friendly and came over and gave us free desserts (waffles and cookies) which were also mouth-watering. Enjoy!!

Passed this placed & decided to give it a try and was really glad we did. Accomodating & knowledgable staff made us feel very welcome even though we were in our hospital scrubs. Nice selection of beers & wines. Mussels were great! Frites & special sauces were too! Nice place to have a beer & a meal without being in a loud bar! We'll be back!

I am glad to see that B. Frites has returned as a full service restaurant. Fantastic quality and value across the board IMHO. Best frites and waffle I have had anywhere, and probably the best $22 steak frites in NYC. Very good selection of Belgian beers both on tap and in bottles.

Came in for a drink -- stayed for an awesome dinner. Beers were excellent as expected, mussels exceeded expectations and were served in generous portions. Croquettes were a bit small, but the salads were amazing and a good value. Definitely will return to this gem...

We went to B. Cafe with couple friends and we had a great time. Great atmosphere, food and service are Super!!

Their beer selection is the best in the upper east side. As far as the food, from the grill pepper & salt shrimp to the 12 oz Steak Frites Belgiques/Seafood Bouillabaise/mussels,all were well presented and very tasty. Server was very attentive and very discrete, we never had to look for him..He gave us great recommendations!

B. CAFE is very affordable, everything is under $25 plus they serve large portion. At the end of our meal, we had a Belgian waffle and a Belgian Molten chocolate cake, which is served warm. What we can tell you is that nothing was left in the plates!

Our Belgian experience was our best ever! We highly recommend this place and yes we'll be back for sure!

My wife and I have dined here twice and enjoyed both experiences. The steak frites was a good quality cut and large serving, and the Carbonade very tasty. I found the staff to be more attentive than some of the more established upper East side bistros and on both occasions all our courses were served correctly and timely. The owner comes across as a little aloof but this may be a function of his limited English while the staff were generally friendly. While the menu is not extensive the food is reasonably priced for the quality, and the belgium beer selection is extensive, although drinks are more expensive than usual. I will dine here again.

The food here exhibits the culinary diversity of Belgium. In addition to the expected Belgian beer, chocolate, and waffles, many other flavorful dishes await, like bitter ballen and croquettes de crevettes. Eating here, you'll come to…
