I have been in active chapter 13 bankruptcy since 2006. I was referred to Legal Helpers by my employer. We have the firm Macy and Alleman representing our case from Legal Helpers. I just want to make sure that anyone who is thinking about acquiring this firm to take their case to think twice. In the 3 years we have been in chapter 13 our wages have been attached and we have not missed a payment. We were not advised at the time of completing the paperwork to compute our monthly bills to allow for prices going up, like gas, fuel oil, propane, kerosene, who would of thought it would have such an impact. Since Dec 10th we have spent $1100.00 in fuel oil alone. Not to mention the $4.06 a gallon we spend in propane, costing over $400.00 every three months. Now 3 years later I have been trying to get my plan amended. We have fuel oil to heat our house, propane to cook with and to heat our water. Those prices have gone up so much, that we are neglecting other things in order to heat our home. In the 3 years we have had Legal Helpers we had 3 different lawyers on the case. I cannot get anyone to return my emails or calls. The third lawyer was going to put in for an amended payment, but it was refused, because he said he was unaware that we were scheduled to pay back 100% of our unsecured debts. Imagine that!! He then said he would file again, and this would take about a month, as he said the first time. I then asked if someone could please keep us up to date with the progress. Well that has never happened. Now its been more than a month and I can't even get the secretary to return any of my calls, emails. We had a scheduled meeting with the second lawyer and when my husband and I took off work to meet with him, he did not even come out of his office to talk to us. He sent his assistant. With no results. We have also been asking for a print out or statement of where our money ($52,000) has gone in the last 3 years and this was never done. In the 3 years we have been having $1763.00 garnished from our pays, we only received 1 statement. I think I should have the right to know where my money is being applied at least on a quarterly basis. I urge anyone who is thinking about hiring this firm to think twice and to ask many questions, especially if this is your first time and you have no idea how this whole thing works. I am going to be in worse shape after this 5 year plan than I was prior to filing. This is the worst company I would never recommend this company to anyone.
