I have to give a thumbs up to Hobby Town in Crystal Lake. I am a novice in the RC trucks area and my son is really into it. I had been going out to Wheeling for this type of product and was very disappointed with the inability to be directed to the appropriate aftermarket products by the staff. That coupled with their inability to service my vehicles in a timely fashion made me an unhappy customer. I started coming to Hobby Town in Crystal Lake around 2 months ago. I found the personal service offered to me there by the owners to be excellent. My son has all sorts of ideas on what to add to his vehicles and I pose the questions to the staff at Hobby Town. On numerous occasions the aftermarket parts I was willing to buy on the spot were not a good fit for the vehicles or were not required to improve the performance. This has been pointed out to me by the staff and they either offer a better suggestion or tell me I am wasting my money. I really appreciate that kind of honesty from a retailer. Like I said, I used to make the trip into Wheeling but will not any longer. Hobby Town has an excellent selection of spare parts for RC trucks and cars and very fair prices. I recommend you check them out for all your RC needs.

Don't spend your $$ at this hobby store! Buy thru internet or make the trek to another store. AVOID THIS STORE AND ITS HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT AT ALL COSTS!

The Owner and his employees have terrible attitudes and customer service! Yesterday, I called for a basic hobby supplies, waterslide decals.

I was immediately told by the gal on the phone they did not have them! I said "are you sure? you do sell model cars, correct?", she said yes, but they did not carry waterslide decals. I asked her if she was a summer worker or a manager because I had a hard time believing they did not have this item.

(mind you at $3.50 a gallon, the phone is a much more effective shopping tool!)

She proceeded to tell me that "she was friends with the owner and obviously he trusted her with his business and if I didn't believe her to come in and look for myself! I said I wasn't coming in to look for myself, thats why I was calling and SHE HUNG THE PHONE UP ON ME!

I then called 2 other Hobby Town locations to find out if they did sell waterslide decals and sure enough they did. I then called the Crystal Lake Hobby Town back and not only told the girl I knew she was wrong, but she was a terrible customer service person and the owner should be upset about having her there.

That night I called back to talk to the OWNER,and he said YES, IN FACT THEY DID CARRY THE WATERSLIDE DECALS and THEN he DEFENDED this girl saying that she DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE AND SHOULD HANG UP IF TREATED RUDELY! UNBELIEVABLE, SHE WAS NOT TREATED RUDELY, I WAS! Needless to say, he got the same few choice words she did at the end of the call......

My Point: This is a franchised business. Can you afford to hang up on customers or treat them rudely when you are questioned about having a particular item that would be a standard item for your business? Even so, Can you afford to be rude to anyone when its related to your business? Apparently this owner and his terrible employees believe so.

I GIVE THIS BUSINESS A BIG FAT 'F'... NO STARS FOR HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND UNBELIEVABLY BAD OWNER INVOLVEMENT!

SPEND YOUR TIME AND YOUR MONEY DRIVING TO WHEELING TO VENTURE HOBBY WHERE THEY TREAT YOU WITH THE UTMOST RESPECT BY PHONE OR IN PERSON.....MY MONEY MATTERS THERE AND THEY ARE ASSURED 100% OF MY BUSINESS NOW!
