I had my daughter's sweet sixteen this saturday. Food was excellent, service was excellent and all our guests have a good time. Special thanks to the team, Sushil, Sagar and Rinku for providing such a good service. I really appreciate and looking forward to do my next party. I really recommend this banquet for Indian gatherings.

Food is not meant to burn your mouth with chilli, or float you in oil! For those who know authentic Indian cuisine will grade this place an average to below a notch- at least we think so. Recently had a sweet sixteen in Rasoi III. Despite several reminders, the food was just OK. Ambience was very noisy due to the curtained partition and two DJs overlapping the music in two separate party halls. Guests on our side were not quite pleased with the sound despite us spending thousands of dollars hoping to give them best time. Staff was attentive, but somewhat needed to be managed by the host. Leftovers were given, menu was messed up a bit(not too bad), but appetizers (the most labor intensive meal) disappeared after the 1st hour, and were not packed in the left overs-guess when you order the supposedly fresh pakoras or Samosas next time when you visit there. Same goes for the dessert-- looks like they packed the dessert from few days ago(spoiled sweets were discovered the next morning after having stored in the refrigerator). Their explanation: they throw away leftovers, instead of giving out-- then why did they pack main course and not the appetizer?- BS.

The pani-puris are outof the world. I hope it's the same guy who's creating the pani when you wind up there. That alone for me makes it totally worth going there for.
The entrees, appetizers etc were also wonderful. Dessert was something different than the routine humdrum gulab jamuns and that was a welcome change.
I guess being buffet-patrons, we haven't encountered the customer service nightmares written in the other review.

I went to Rasoi when it first opened and the food was amazing. It is a fine indian cuisine with dimmed lighting and a bar. They stopped serving dinner at the restaurant for a long period of time (do not know why) but they just re-opened. The banquet hall is not very big, but suitable for a party with a limited number of guests. I definately recommend dining there, it was a great experience.

We went for the buffet. The selection of food was nothing great. The Dahivadas were hard as rocks. The vegetables were not tasty at all.
Definetely not worth the amount we ended up spending. Ambience is OK, nothing to rave about. They put Soda in their food which causes stomach irritation right away.
On the whole not a place I would go for again in the future.

On a scale of 1 to 5
-----------------------------
Food - 3
Ambience - 2
Service - 0 (does not deserve 1)

Recommendation: Avoid at all costs

Customer service was worst at best.
a) We were initially seated in a place that somehow ended up in the aisle, and the air conditioning was hurling hurricanes right at us. Initially they said they had no other place (to seat two), but when we decided to walk away, we were accomodated in another section that was much cozier.

b) After 30 minutes of ordering the food, we had to remind them to serve us the free appetizer (papad)

c) The beer we ordered came only after 40 minutes

d) Unfortunately, the beer that I ordered came only in bigger bottles - and I did not want to drink that much as I had to drive. I told them to get me some brand in a normal 12-oz bottle - the waitress went back to the counter, and came back, replying that they cannot take the bottle back as it has already been opened. When I asked why was I not told that this comes only in bigger bottles, she replied "Dont tell me you dont know (that this brand comes only in bigger bottles), sir". So much for customer service. After arguing for 2 minutes, they agreed to serve us a smaller bottle instead.

e) After another period of eternal waiting, another waiter pointed out to the waitress and asked why have we not been served food yet. (This was overheard by my spouse). She told him to do the serving and added that she would not do it.

f) When the final check came, there was another shocker. (i) They had charged us for both the beers (big one that they agreed to take back, and the smaller one), and (ii) They had missed taking into account an extra bread that we ordered. The nice person that I am, I pointed out both, which made the owner/manager approach us. She mentioned that she does not have the authority to not charge us for the opened bottle and that we have to pay for both the beers. She added that I can take the open bottle of beer home if I wanted. I was so #$*(ed of at this stage that I told her that I will pay for it, but I dont need any take-outs. And the smart penny-pinching-at-the-cost-of-customer-service person that she was, the cost for extra bread was added to the final check.

On a final note, the restaurants that we tend to visit repeatedly have great food matched by quality service. And then there are some like Rasoi, where the experience made us vow not to approach the entire chain (later we heard from our friend that they have Rasoi restaurants at Monmouth, Jersey City, Oak Tree Road).
