I would like to thank your team who worked on my order for a pre-owned vehicle. I received my Civic early on Friday and am extremely pleased with the service you gave me. I have to admit I was a little worried about purchasing a pre-owned car over the internet but your helpful service took away those fears and I managed to get all the specifications/details I asked for. I will certainly recommend Berkeley Honda to anyone purchasing a used car.

I had been to other Honda dealerships around the area, but didn??t come close to having the great experience I had with you all. My family and I love our new ??09 Pilot. As they say on eBay, Berkeley Honda gave me a complete A++++ and most highly recommended shopping experience.

When my wife and I wanted to trade in our old car for a new one, we had to shop around for a good deal, as our car wasn??t worth much on the market. Just thought I??d drop you a line to say thank you Berkeley Honda and let you know how delighted I am with my new Accord. I found dealing with your dealership was a complete hassle-free experience. Thanks again.

These guys beat the competition on m Odyssey by $1500. I also got service free. They have no sales people so they really take care of you.

Good place to buy a Honda!!!

My wife and I brought in her '07 accord in for a simple 1, 2, and B service. My wife signed the paper without looking at it. We get home and I look at the service tag. $400!!! Why so much, they decided to add a "throttle body service" with out our asking for $100 extra. I called 2 other dealers and a independent mechanic, they all said it was not in the least bit needed. The independent said the 1, 2, B service would cost $150 or less. Last time I am going to this rip off scamming company. Way to rob the common man!!!

I have to say that I read all of the review before I went out to Berkeley Honda and I was kind of nervous but, I had the BEST experience at a car dealership that I have ever had in my life. The price they quoted me on the phone was the price they said when I got there. I didn't have to haggel about price and that was great! They also gave us great service! I would tell everyone out there that you should give them a chance. They had the best price in the bay area and the service couldn't be beat.Sincerely,Monica Lincavage

Having just driven my Accord across country I got a notice that there was a factory recall on the exhaust. I brought it to Berkeley Honda and was pleasantly surprised. They fixed the defect, drove me and picked me up from my workplace and did a great job. I would highly recommend their service department.

I bought my Honda from this dealership when they were Jim Doten Honda. It was a fair price and I was pleased with the way the purchase was handled. I had all my maintenance done at this dealer and never had a problem until they became Berkeley Honda. Prices went up and quality went down. They were inefficient and inept with even the simplest services. For example, it took them three months to replace a windshield visor. I have since moved away from the area and today I took my Honda civic in for 60,000 mile service at another dealership. They informed me that "whoever" (that would be Berkeley Honda) had done the last service had stripped the bolts on the air filter housing and cracked it. Thanks to their carelessness, today I'm out $150 to replace it. I was also informed that my headlights had not been adjusted properly when the bulbs were replaced, something I had returned to Berkeley Honda for THREE times. Each time they told me there was nothing wrong. I should have paid closer attention to the protesters and the giant rat outside and taken my car elsewhere to be serviced - if you're smart you'll avoid this place like the plague. I certainly wish I had. Unfortunately this ratings site requires me to give them at least one star in order to post a comment. They deserve a NEGATIVE rating.

I bought a CRV from this dealer only to have them not tell me when they changed the oil last (I was told the maintence light would go on indiciting time for a change) and they were giving me grief about paying off my current loan for my other car. They said no one would want my old car (Saturn with less than 70K miles on it) but they eventually took it. But they jacked up the price of the CRV. And the car wasnt even clean when I bought. They insisted bring it back and they would detail it. Never did. I live in Marin why would I have to drive all the way back there when they should have perforned the service before I left the place. I will not be returning there.

This is very important! I just found out that Jim Doten Honda sold me a car with a MAJOR safety defect!!! This Sunday, my well-maintained Honda suddenly lost all power and died on the Bay Bridge. Luckily, I was able to get over to the far right lane and park with my hazards on until help arrived. I called my mechanic at Berkeley Minicar (who rock, by the way, this is where you need to get your Honda serviced because they are HONEST unlike Berkeley Honda) and told them what happened. At this point they told me that there was a major safety recall issued on my car for an ignition switch problem that could cause your car to, guess what, short and lose all power. This recall was issued in MAY OF 2002!!!! I bought my car in SEPTEMBER OF 2002! They never disclosed to me this safety issue as required by law. I almost got killed on Sunday as a result of this. I called the dealership to have the recall work done and they told me the recall notices went to the previous owners. But the thing is, they've been sending me all sorts of other notices for services and coupons for repairs and tune-ups. When I asked when the safety recall was issued, they told me it was on 9/17/02, a day after I purchased my car. I called the Honda Corp. and they told me that that was not true, that the recall was issued 5/17/02. So, Berkeley Honda LIED to me to try to cover their knowingly selling me a defective auto. They say the recall notices never went to me so they are not responsible, but I brought my car in for ANOTHER warrantee issue just this July and they failed to inform me of this then. So who was responsible for that?

I highly suggest that if you bought a car from Jim Doten/Berkeley Honda you call them to see that all recall notices have been sent to you. What happened to me on the bridge was terrifying and could have cost me my life. And this was all due to negligence on part of Berkeley Honda. If enough people have had this same experience, a class action lawsuit can be filed. I just want to put the word out that these guys are not to be trusted. They didn't disclose the major safety recall to me! As a result, my electrical is all screwed up and they refuse to acknowledge their responsibility. Not only that, when I called Berkeley Honda this morning, their Service manager, Brian Haskett, told me I was out of luck and that they weren't responsible because they are no longer Jim Doten. Well, my car was brought in when they had changed to Berkeley Honda and they didn't inform me of this recall at that time either.

When I mentioned my concerns of the effect the strike had on the company, I was hung up on. Is this the kind of response I should expect when confronting them with the fact I was lied to? Not cool.

So, if you bought a Honda, please call and check that all recalls and warrantees are current. They are still feeling the financial effects of the strike and are trying to recoup their losses on the backs of their customers. They sure were able to recommend all sorts of services I would have to pay for when I brought my car in, but they couldn't tell me I had a major safety recall that they would have to repair for free? They just didn't want to acknowledge their liability or have to do anything that wouldn't bring in the bucks. Simply disgusting.

And to everyone else, DON'T SHOP BERKELY HONDA! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF AND DENY RESPONSIBILTY! I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau and Seven on Your Side. And I've only just begun.

Thanks.

I didn't much like the Jim Doten Berkeley Honda dealership when I went there a few years ago to look for a Honda vehicle that I was interested in. I was not at all happy with the sales guy that helped me out. I thought he was too pushy and cared only about making a sale. I didn't think they offered me a competitive enough price either.

I have dealt with Jim Doten Honda only once when I was looking for the best deal on a new Odyssey I wanted to buy. In fact, I contacted several Honda dealerships throughout northern California and this was just one of them. The price that they were willing to offer me was not competitive at all. They were not even willing to negotiate a price that was even remotely close to my asking price which was pretty reasonable.

I did a car test drive in Jim Doten Berkeley, I told the sales man beforehand on a email I have not firm on my decision for the purchase yet but the salesman encourage me to try, So I arrive on Jim Doten Berkeley Honda, the salesman shows me an 2004 Honda Accord in Silver color, after a test drive, I do not like it. I feel the car's internal materials is not want I expect, so I thanks him and I want to leave. Then the saleman beame very unhappy with me!! And keep on asking me for more personal materials. I promise I will not go to Jim Doten Berkeley Honda to purchase any cars again..

There's got to be a better place in the Bay Area to buy a Honda, and hopefully there will be some happier customers from other dealers on the Insider Pages. Jim Doten Honda aka Berkeley Honda is the 'typical' car dealer in that they attempt to rip you off hardcore, guilt you for attempting to negotiate a fair price (quote: "you don't want me to make any money off this sale for the help I've given you?), treat you like crap as soon as the deal is inked, and then harrass you by phone to give them undeserved good customer service scores in a telesurvey. I drove by here today and the workers are picketing outside with a giant inflatable rat. I am not surprised.
