The Perfect Place For Great Wine And Lovely Environment

This would have been rated higher as the food merits 6 starts, but the service only gets one. We went to Poco for dinner last night after a film. Arriving around 9, downstairs was full so we went upstairs where there was plenty of seating

This is most certainly for those who enjoy wine bars. A very nice selection of reds, whites and sparkings and some wonderful tapas and appetizers. My sister and I stopped by on a Friday evening. The space is deceiving...very small when you first walk in, but there is an upstairs area that I would recommend. It is a cozy feel and we found ourselves engaging in friendly, and intriguing conversation with people all around us. The service was impeccable considering she had so many other people to attend to. She was very good at being personable while attending to other customers in a timely fashion. I enjoyed my experience, but I also really love wine. I also enjoy pubs but if you only like pubs, this would not be the place for you. Personally, I will be back.

It's very nice to go out in your neighborhood and go to a place where people are unpretentious, fun, inviting, and hilarious. Both the staff and patrons have loads or personality and the wine list features great selections that I wouldn't have otherwise tried. Plus, the chesse plates are huge, diverse, and tasty. I've been to Poco a handful of times and am planning on becoming a regular.

Welcome to Poco. That's the first thing that I heard when I entered my new favorite place to chill out. What a sweet happy hour. I enjoyed a glass of South African Warwick Pinotage after many tastes of their offerings, a tasty french ham and camembert sandwich, and had a great conversation with their sassy tattooed bartender. I asked her if she was the owner and she humbly and simply stated "No, I'm the Kate. We have a Shirley, and a Kevin, too. We all contribute so greatly to Poco that it is who we are." The staff at Poco are like chamelions weaving in and out of conversations like dancers of the Tango. If ever in the neighborhood or are feeling like a glass of wine without pretention Poco is for you.

Pros: Great Wine. Tasty food. Sassy Kate.

Cons: Sitting by the door is a chilly spot. I wish that there were a bar upstairs.

I absolutely love Poco. Peter, one of the owners, is one of the nicest and friendliest people ever. What I love about Poco is that it is very inviting and so comfortable. It's very intimate, classy, and the perfect place to come to wind down, enjoy some solitude, and hang out. I bring my girlfriends to come relax, we absolutely love wine so it is perfect. The staff is excellent, very helpful and nice also. This is a place for everyone - professional wine drinkers and for the new. I used to work right across the way and it was my favorite thing - to stop by after work when I had the chance. Everyone should try Poco - if you're a wine connoisseur or just love a nice, warm, relaxing environment - you might love it.

Pros: Wine, Lovely Environment

Cons: Nothing

I love a place that can educate me without putting me back in the third grade feeling stupid. I acutally got to chat a little about the wine that I was enjoying here. It was a great way to start my night out off, especially when I realized I was their for happy hour...it was cool to pay that much less than I was expecting for the bottle.

Pros: atmosphere, happy hour price, selection

Cons: know the tricks for parking on Cap Hil

I have frequented many wine bars both in the new world and old world - but rarely do I feel comfortable and at home due to the pretentious nature of wine bars and the some how consistently obnoxious music. Poco is a welcome relief from the other mostly corporate (read east-side founded) wine bars here in Seattle; I finally feel like we have an authentic neighborhood bar focused on one thing; loving wine and sharing it with friends. The atmosphere is hip and appealing with lots of character, but not over the top. The menu rotates to always include amazing boutique wines (at pretty reasonable prices) accompanied with wild descriptions allowing guests and servers to skip the "tech talk" to explain and enjoy a good glass of vino? no need to be a sommelier to enjoy and relax. The small plates are a delight ? they?re always ready to help with food and wine pairings to accentuate your experience. The staff has been consistently fun and attentive, even when they get busy; they remembered my name right away (NORM!!!). I have been about 8 or 9 times with various friends - and decided to write (first review for any place!) because my experiences have been so positive. A perfect date place? I look forward to passing the word on to my wine savvy as well as not so savvy friends. Can't recommend enough...Cheers!

Pros: Fantastic wine and small plates. Friendly Service. Cool Neighborhood Owners. Great Atmosphere. Good looking patrons. Decidedly non-snobby.

Poco is not all things to all people. Foremost, it is not a restaurant. It is a wine bar.

Simple, small, elegant, local, and informal. Don't expect flash, pomp or circumstance... you'll be disappointed. Don't expect obsequious or fawning service either. Rather than entertain you, the staff tends to leave you alone in a romantic, candlelit setting to enjoy your date or company. If you're alone, they are conversational and helpful.

Bites tend to be generous, but none are a satisfying meal. Again, this is a wine bar and not a restaurant. Still, I would like to see a simple salad or soup offered with some of their bigger wines.

Finally, if you can't walk one block from Olive to Pine for an elegant glass of wine without thinking you've climbed Mount Everest, you probably should shuttle your big a$$ to the front door of Purple for another crowded, impersonal, corporate experience.

I love this place! Consistently great service and an intimate setting; you can always count on a great glass of wine and a friendly face behind the bar. Exceptional is the cheese plate and more spectacular is the well thought-out assortment of local wines. The new rotating wine list, currently featuring South African wines, is lovely way to escape the Northwest if only for an hour.

Pros: Great place for a first date

Poco wine room is intimate and stylish. The wine list is great - with a rotating list of wines by the glass. A focus on boutique wines from the Northwest guarantees you'll find something out of the ordinary. Having a rotating menu means you can keep going back to try new wines by the glass.

The owners have insisted on exceptional quality food. Their cheeses and desserts are delicious. (And, they serve Cafe Vita coffee if you've consumed too much wine.)

The staff and the owners are very knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions. Awesome place to relax at the end of the day. The new happy hour has $2 off wines by the glass.

Love LOVE *LOVE* Poco Wine Bar! I hope to return often to work my way through their menu of NW wines. Cool selection of smaller boutique wines, fun to try local flavors, and also more recognizable labels. Small enough to be inimate, spacious enough to find a cozy nook. Gorgeous, creative decor from the ground-floor bar to the sexxxy urban lounge upstairs. The owner and staff are young, hot, friendly, and knowledgeable, generous with pours. Great selection of artisan cheeses on the menu -- the Humboldt Fog was creamy and dreamy. Capitol Hill is lucky to have such a warm, chic hideaway. It would make a fabulous place to hold special events, parties or receptions.
