I signed up for Ami's diet/exercise program in February 2008, after being told that my annual glucose test results put me in the diabetic range. Out of shape and not living an active lifestyle, I knew I needed help. With Ami's background (which includes a Master's Thesis on diabetes), motivation style, and (best of all) a home gym (privacy) - I knew she would be able to help me get my glucose down.

After just three short months of working out with Ami and following her suggested modifications to my eating habits, I had a follow-up test and was amazed with the results. Thanks to Ami, I had realized the following key benefits:

1. Lost 15 pounds and 15.5 inches, including 3" from the waist.
2. Fasting glucose level down 52 points (36%), moving me from the diabetic range down into the low pre-diabetes or borderline range, at just 3 points above normal.
3. Triglycerides down 134 points (a whopping 55%) and overall cholesterol down 58 points (26%)
4. Increased flexibility and strength.

My doctor was amazed. I avoided an official diagnosis of diabetes, have made a healthy lifestyle change w/ regard to my eating habits, am still working out with Ami regularly, have made walking & resistance training part of my home workouts, and - most important of all - I avoided being put on meds.

I've been working out for a LONG time and have been a member of several gyms in my life. I went to Amy to correct some very specific age-related (I'm 58) issues about posture, balance, definition, strength in my back. I'd hurt my back Jan 1st, 07 and had been to the Chiropracter many times and had been working on strengthening my abs & back muscles on my own, but hadn't solved the problem. I also had forward head/neck syndrome from sitting in front of the computer all those years. My balance was starting to go as well. After only 3 months with Amy, I've seen significant improvement in all these areas! I've become MUCH stronger. I see major improvements in my body and my confidence has improved immensely. I dropped a pants size too! Amy tailors the exercises to work with my specific issues and is constantly changing them to keep things interesting and challenging. She knows how to keep me motivated and makes the time at our sessions go by quickly. She has a great personality and we laugh and tell each other stories while we're working out. Yes, Amy usually works out right beside me or is focused on what I'm doing every second unlike the trainers at every other gym where I've trained (maybe that's why she named her business "Focus" Fitness!). I am a 37 year old "weekend extreme athelete" who still thinks he's 18. Well, my body was telling me differently every time I would go out and ride a 100 mile Enduro Moto Cross event or windsurf 15 foot waves and get worked. I had been having a lot of back paIn, an old injured ACL that was incredibly week years after my surgery and very little energy to go home after runing my business to play with my 3 kids. Wow, now that I write this, no wonder was always hurting and always tired. I figured I would finally get off my butt and do what i needed to do and instead of running to the chiropractor every week to fix my pain I thought I might try and prevent it. I started working with Ami only about a month and a half ago and we worked on strengthening my core initially and my knee, then moved on to a pretty full work out. Although Ami totally "kicks my butt," it is exactly what I need so that I don't "wuss out" and not get the benefit. I have not been to the chiropractor for a month, I have tons of energy when i get home from work, I just rode three 100 mile Enduro Races over the past 3 weekends in a row, and I was more sore from working out with Ami than I was after the races. A few months ago I wrote a review about Focus Fitness and my trainer Ami Jampolis (you can see it below). In the short time I had worked out with Ami I had started to see improvements in my overall health and strength.

Here we are just a few months later and I have now lost a total of 22 pounds, my pants are falling off of me, and I'm more motivated then ever to workout, because for once in my life it's finally FUN. Ami knows how to make these workouts fly by, while keeping them challenging and fun. I've never worked out consistently like this in the past, and it feels good and it is working!!

I still have about 15 more pounds to lose and a lot more agility to gain, and I know that I will achieve those goals so long as I have Ami there to help!

A friend who has gone through a healthy and beautiful body transformation suggested I try her trainer, Ami J at Focus Fitness. I figured I would try it, even though I had never had a trainer before.

In the short time I've been with her, I've felt more focused and energized then I have been in years. She factors in previous injuries and builds an exercise routine that challenges you and keeps you sweating. Ami varies the exercises every session and shows you moves that you can do on your own at home - no fancy equipment or gym needed.

She'll do the workout with you and keep you motivated the entire time. Going to see Ami was the best thing I've done all year!

Unfortunately, I am very familiar with chronic pain, arthritis and physical therapy. I first met Ami in 2005 when I was doing physical therapy for a low back disk problem. She was working for the facility I was attending. After a few visits, I decided Ami was the only one I wanted to work with because she was knowledgeable yet gentle. Some time after I?d ?graduated? from physical therapy, I thought about getting a personal trainer. I tried a few at the gym I belong to but they didn?t seem to understand much about chronic pain, and either they weren?t patient enough to understand, or they just weren?t knowledgeable and flexible enough to work with my injuries. Then, by chance, I ran into Ami at the coffee shop, we chatted, and I told her my dilemma. I asked her if she?d ever done, or considered doing, personal training. To my delight she said ?Yes!? So we began working together two to three times a week, on and off, since then. She has been and is wonderful! I have a ways to go yet, but I am determined to get back to my hiking, biking and ?mile-a-day? swimming. I can not say enough about Ami. Her expertise, technical knowledge, flexibility, accommodating programs, up to date equipment, and professionalism are of the highest quality. I have been going to see Ami for about a little over a month now, and I cannot tell you how amazing I feel! I have gone to gyms and had personal trainers in the past and none of them compare to her knowledge and expertise. The gym is always so crowded and the personal trainers I have had in the past either don't pay as close attention to what I am doing (i.e. watch body form/lifting properly), and they are not motivators in any way. Ami works closely with me, she is attentive, patient, and makes me feel like I am constantly accomplsihing something with every work out. She is also very flexible and will meet me wherever it is convenient for me. Ami also traines my mom who suffers from arthritis and she has all the background knowledge on what the correct exercises are for her. She traines her with the utmost care as if my mom were her mom. I would HIGHLY recommend Ami to anyone!

Well, Ami Jampolis at Focus Fitness will definetly accomplish that goal. I have had chronic back pain for the past 5 years. I have been to the chiroparctor, accupuncture and my Dr. and could not find relief. Ami took it upon herself to help me at the gym. She showed me stretches and excercises for my back. I can honestly say that since I have been doing these routines I have been 99% back pain free. Ami also has shown and discussed with me various workout routines. The great thing about these workouts is it gets you away from the metal at the gym. It focuses on the true core and strengthening of the body. Ami is not only knowledgeable with working out she is very knowlegeable about the human body through nutrition. I am a firefighter with over 20 years on the job.
