I had an apointment at 5:30. I got to the door and it was locked with a note saying to call a number and someone will open the door immediatly. I called the number and was put on hold for 15 minutes. The person answered and turned out to be an offsite receptionist! No one answered the door for another 10 minutes. It turns out the only reason it was answered was that the masseuse was going to the bathroom.
Bad massage--It sure was painful, but my back does not feel any more relieved then it did when I went in.
Masseuse talked to whole time.
Asked to focus on my shoulders and she gave me a hard time. I feel bad for these masseuses they seem like nice people I just wish they new how to give a massage.
Cons: No one answered the door. Not a deep tissue massage.
Sara is a miracle worker. Go to her. You won't regret it. Not only is she the BEST, she's also the nicest.
As an overworked, stressed, computer user, my shoulders and neck tend to cause me. I have been seeing Sara for years now and she is amazing. This is not a spa massage. They really work your muscles deep and you will detox a bit after the massage. However, the next day is amazing. I don't think I could keep up my insane work schedule without these guys. I have been seeing Jez since Sara can't work on weekends (and I work too much for weekdays) and he is right up there with Sara. He really knows how to work into the back and reach the lower muscles. I highly recommend Jez (and Sara).
Pros: Serious massage by knowledgable professionals
Cons: Sometimes it is hard to get an appointment
I've been going to DEEP for the past year, and have had bodywork done by both Sara and Mike. I can't say enough about Sara - her deep (no pun intended) knowledge of the body and muscular systems is the best I've ever encountered, bar none. I've gone to Sara for deep tissue massage while training for long distance tris and marathons, and in conjunction with the work at ChiroMedical, I've come out healthier than before. I've also seen her for myofasical work, which helped alleviate chronic hip pain I'd had for close to two years.
I recently saw Mike for the first time, for a post-Marathon massage; he was also excellent, and seemed in line with Sara's same techniques.
I only wish I hadn't waited so long to start going there -- I won't go anywhere else.
Pros: professional massage, relaxing, convenient
Cons: parking (though Sara gives a reduced rate in a nearby lot, which is great), no evening hours
Mike's method of bodywork is unlike any other other deep massage I have experienced. For example, he is able to work the attachment sites of my muscles, going right to the bone, without pain. I feel grounded and integrated in my body after a session with him. I also really like how I am an active participant in my healing when I work with him. In working with him, I not only feel better in my body, but have a greater intelligence and sense of my body. I am a yoga teacher and I highly recommend Mike to my students to help deepen their practice and overcome physical limitations.
Pros: incredible, reliable bodywork
Cons: Mike only works one afternoon/evening a week (Tuesdays)
If you are looking for a fantastic massage, look no further. DEEP is the place to go!
When I am ready for a massage I look for somebody who is strong, listens to my needs and gives me results. No that touchy, feely stuff. I get all that from DEEP. It has been the best experience ever.
Every time I have one of Deep's therapeutic massage, I want to schedule another right away. While I don't have the means to have one regularly, this is the only place I go when I feel strained and stressed. I've also purchased gift certificates here. The environment is professional but far from corporate, and instead of running through a standard routine the therapist asks what's bothering you - essentially, custom massage vs. assembly line.
I absolutely love the chiropractor at this location, so I used the contracted massage therapist. She was very friendly. I should have asked for more pressure, in retrospect, but it was a very nice massage, overall.
Pros: friendly staff
If you want to really get to the root of the problem and work out those knots - DEEP is the way to go!
I have been a Bodywork therpist for over 35 years and Jez has shown me depth that I have never been befor in my life. He is totally present and sensitve to ever move he makes with his massage. I have been getting work for over 35 years and his work stand alone as a true proffesional in ever sense of the work. Dont miss this opportunity fo work with someone that really knows what he is doing. thanks Jez for sharing with me a new place in myself.
Pros: Master @ his Trade
I love DEEP massage. Jez is incredible. His hands are so strong and intuitive. He knows just where to work and how hard to work it. (That sounded much dirtier than it was meant.) Seriously though, Deep's space is a bit clinical and yet it retains a warmth that I appreciate. They have this crazy Bio-Mat thingy on their tables that exhudes some sort of negitive ions and heat. I'm not sure if I am explaining what itt does well, but suffice to say it FEELS dang good.
Pros: Heated tables, strong/intuitive hands
Cons: sometimes have to wait to get an appointment... they're busy!
Sara is beyond fabulous. This isn't just a "feel-good" massage; it is a therapeutic massage that fixes and heals. I am amazed at the power of her healing hands. Thank goodness I found her before heeding a well-known orthopedist's recommendation for surgery. Whew!!! Sara is the best!
Pros: All good; even has a parking deal with nearby lot; great place; and she is a fabulous person.
Cons: Can't think of any...
I have been priviledged to receive energy work, cranio-sacral, and Henderickson orthopedic massage from Mike Lane. All are wonderful. The Hendrickson method is especially therapeutically effective. My hip and back pain was markedly reduced after the session. His presence and his energy are exceptional. Make an appointment with him, you won't be dissappointed!
Hi, it's my pleasure to recommend Sara's bodywork. I've received hundreds of sessions in dozens of modalities over twenty years, from some outstanding bodyworkers. I've never met anyone better than Sara at her young age. It's no accident, I know about some of her training personally because I worked at the Heartwood Institute where she studied several of our excellent intensives. Along with all the other praise lavished on her in these comments, I want to mention her listening skills and her dedication to service. She never tries to "show off" or seem to know better, while at the same time projecting a comfortable confidence in her work. Ahe respects my knowledge and experience of my own body and works with her knowledge, her intuition, and all my own experience. Together we have created some amazing transformational bodywork sessions ! Plus, she's committed to her clients, smart in her schedulling, outstanding with excercise or stretching suggestions and nutritional support - she gets it about Whole Health. And finally, I want to mention that she can work deeply, very deeply, or with incredible subtlety and patience, and it feels to me like it's all the same healing work. And Ilike her conventient location and parking service...
Pros: Excellence, versatility, convenience, charm.
Cons: There's only one of her! (I think her assistant is pretty good too...)
I've been going to Sara for several years and she is absolutely amazing in every respect. Simply put, she can figure out where the problem areas are and fix them. She not only deals with the pain itself, but also tracks down what is causing the pain and fixes that too. The environment is great and she doesn't leave anything out to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. Go to DEEP and you WILL feel better. :)
I've been a client of Sara's for 4 years and she's kept me in the game through many sports injuries. I'm an active skiier and scuba diver and it seems like I'm always straining something! Sara is really excellent at isolating the problem and working it out. I first went to her for help with an inexplicable dent in my left thigh, that was getting deeper and deeper. My primary care physician couldn't figure out what was causing it and didn't think it warranted referral to a specialist, but it was getting progressively worse and noticeable even through clothes. Sara spent several sessions breaking down scar tissue in my thigh muscles, and not only did the dent go away, but I regained flexibility and strength in my quads that I hadn't realized I'd lost. Sara also help me regain flexibility in my right shoulder, which was greatly restricted from a torn rotatator cuff that happened over 20 years ago. But aside from working on injuries, she's also does amazing deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and craniosacral work. She's a very intuitive very effective, producing noticeable changes in tissue in just one visit!
I moved down to San Jose area a year ago but I still come up to the city to get massaged by Sara.
Before each session, she will inquire to see if any body area is bothering me that needs more attention than others, then she customizes her session according to my input. I no longer enjoy generic cookie cutter massages offered by spas and most massages places. She is the best and I am definitely willing to travel for such great service.
DEEP Massage saved my neck, my back and my body. I have several areas that suffer from stress and from too many hours at the computer. Thanks to DEEP massage I can move easily again. If you are looking to heal a specific area or have better muscular-skeleton movement, I highly recommend going to DEEP!
Sara's gentle and deep massages have been instrumental in helping me manage and alleviate headaches and neck problems. I really appreciate that she not only asks good questions about the sources of pain but has excellent intuition in working on areas that I could not even identify as 'hot' spots for pain. I see Sara in conjunction with the tremendous chiropractic and PT professionals with whom she shares office suites. Sara's hours are great, the atmosphere is completely relaxing, and the no hassle convenient parking just adds to the outstanding experience. As a former competitive athlete who has acquired a nice list of aches and pains, I am very grateful for Sara's expertise, kind and gentle ways, and commitment to helping me with my situation.
I've been receiving various modalities of bodywork from practitioners all over the country for 20 years, and Sarah's one of the very best I've ever encountered. Her work is very effective. She really knows her stuff and has a great, reassuring tableside manner. And her touch is sooo gentle and smooth, even when she?s doing deep work ? sometimes I can?t tell how deep she?s been until I get up off the table and notice how much has relaxed! I can?t enthuse enough here ? just go see her!
I have been a client of Sara's since 2002 when she launched her massage business. Sara is incredibly talented and is especially well suited for athletes. As the name implies, she focuses on deep tissue massage and bodywork. The experience is both relaxing and rehabilitating.
Sara is very personable and from start to finish she makes you feel welcome and comfortable. She customizes each session by focusing only on the areas that need the most attention. Even if you don't know exactly what you need, she will spend several minutes discussing your recent training/activities and determine what may be best. She has experience working with many different types of athletes and injuries. I generally benefit from Sara's deep tissue massage so I can keep up with my training but when super stressed I have also gone to Sara for craniosacral work which is equally amazing.
I highly recommend Sara's work and as the title implies, I wouldn't go anywhere else!
I have been seeing Sara for over 3 years for deep tissue and sports
massage. I am an athlete and get very overworked muscles. I attribute
my lack of injuries in the past 3 years, to seeing Sara on a regular
basis. She is a master at working at that exact point of depth that
my muscles need without going over my pain tolerance. She also does a
lot of resistive stretching. I recommend Deep Massage & Bodywork to
any athlete who wants to stay at the top of their game! Thanks, Sara!
Sara is absolutely amazing! I've had cronic headaches and migranes for 10 years. After a bunch of different prescriptions and chiropractic work, I finally went to see Sara. In less than a month, my headaches had almost disappeared! Its amazing! I see her a couple of time a month in combination with my chiropractor and it works great since they're in the same office! Thanks Sara!!
I've been seeing Sara for over four years now, for general maintenance. However, back in April, I was skiing and herniated a disc. Since then, Sara has been an essential aspect to my healing process and I could not imagine ever going to anyone else. Her professionalism and knowledge is far superior than her competitors and there is a real sense of authenticity in how she cares for her patients. Each time I go in, we spend ample time assessing the aches and pains and then she caters the massage to that. The Deep tissue massages really get into muscles, making me feel like a new woman each time I leave!
Pros: Easy parking, flexible service, great technique and knowledge!
I saw Sara at Deep Massage & Bodywork last spring for a running injury. I went on the advice of my Doctor to get some scar tissue removed from my Achilles tendon. I run between 20-30 miles a week and needed to increase the range of motion and decrease pain in my ankle. Sara traced my ankle problems up to my hips, where I had chronic tightness in my right glut muscles. After two sessions and giving my legs a complete work through, I was out of pain and felt lighter during my run than ever before. Since then, Sara has worked on my neck and shoulder tightness (which used to cause headaches), my forearm tightness from the computer and now gives me craniosacral work which keeps me grounded and balanced. I am so thankful to have found Sara as I have been searching for a therapist who is professional, caring, intelligent, and intuitive. Thanks Sara!!
Pros: collaboration with Dr's, clinical etting, Parking, Biomat
