RE: the cattery

by kelly s.

I have had my cat stay at Wag twice and although she would prefer to be at home, I feel better that I know she is in good hands at WAG SF cattery. The staff is attentive and aware of her quirky behavior. She has room to move in the multi-level kitty suite with her very own litter box. But the clincher in the 5 star cat accommodation is that the cats can not smell the dogs due to the room having a separate air filtration system. Furthermore, the room is far from the dogs so it is very quite making for a much less stressful environment during her stay.
I had looked other places for my cat to stay. But was displeased with the thought of her saying in a cage with the smell and sound of dogs filling the building. The $8.00 additional cost/nt was justified! And my cat adjusted just fine to the situation.

I think he was playing a practical joke on the people

by lettyfromtarlac

I went out of town and had my dog stay at Wags Hotel, as he always does whenever I'm away. This time, he had his own suite as usual, had a daily 20 minute zen massage, had a daily bully stick snack, 3 walks a day, plus 2 play sessions a day with other dogs in their daycare section.

I saw him on the camera in his suite, howling!!! Except I think he was playing a practical joke on the people as every time he does this, the door almost always open immediately. I guess they're checking to make sure he's ok.

He's a spoiled, wise guy, that's my son :)

Thank you!

by DianaRubalcava

This was the first time our family used this daycare. We were highly impressed with their apparently conscientious care of our dear dog. He just had TPLO surgery a month ago and was in a very fragile state.

I was able to view him on his suite's camera and he was smiling all the time, surprisingly enough. I can honestly say that we'll bring our dog back to Wags should the occasion arise. Thank you!

My dog did not want to leave!

by ksjjj

My little zoey went to Wags and I as a parent was incredibly nervous. My husband had found the place and said it all checked out but I was still sad and nervous to leave my little fluffer muffin. All I know is that when we got back to pick her up she was the happiest dog ever and not in the sense that she wanted to leave wags. She just seemed relaxed, like she was on a super fun relaxing vacation, she had swimming time in their pool, a peanut butter filled kong toy and many playgroup sessions oh and a bath right before we came. Everyone was accomodating, friendly and incredibly professional. It is definitely worth the money, which I thought was pricey... We will be back again soon, thank you Wags for everything!

Pros: All the options

Cons: a bit pricey

My dog told me that she loved her stay at Wag!

by voidedsole

I had a stressful time finding a spot for my boxer named Lola...I had called several places the week before the 4th of July trying with no success, I was number 63 on the waiting list at one place and 44 at another. I called Wag and they booked us a suite with no problem. Greeted with very nice people in the front...who all had walkie talkies on so they could communicate to each other easily. Lola was taken to her room which I saw and totally approved and I was able to take my vacation and so was Lola. Low and behold, on returning from vacation....(my dog does not do well with others-she is over excited) I walked in and told the peeps I was there to pick up Lola they pointed to what they call the fish bowl-(a large viewing area where the dogs get supervised play time...with a person who as soon as hits the ground was there to keep the area clean, very impressed) and there was my dog totally calm and playing with other dogs, 1st time ever! I will from now on when my budget affords it (kinda pricey) take Lola to Wag. It was great and my dog was well rested and did not want to leave.

Pros: Plenty of room to roam. Friendly staff.

Cons: $40+per night, but worth it!

Shame on Wags

by JonathanH

I have a 9 year old male collie mix who has arthritis in one front leg. I left him at Wags this past weekend (3/15/08-3/17/08) with horrifying results. After our regular Saturday morning routine - walk in GG Park, did his business, had breakfast - I dropped him off at Wags. When we walked in, my dog wouldn't move off the matt at the front door. They have a plastic-like coating over the concrete floors that dogs don't seem to like. Even the guy at the desk told me it was for the convenience of cleaning up, but that dogs don't like it. Weird. I told the guy at the front desk several times that I would be out of town, and gave him my cell phone number in case of emergencies. I also left my cell phone number for the groomer, so she could call me and discuss my dog's hair cut. I then left him there and went to the airport. When I landed at SFO Monday evening there was a message from my wife (who does not live in SF) stating that Wags had called her to let ME know that the groomer couldn't cut my dog's hair because he couldn't stand up! I rushed to WAGS to find out what was going on. I found out that Sunday morning, one day after putting my dog in their care, he could not get up on his own power. The "handlers" had to do a two-man carry and lift him up by using a towel under his belly. So, they leave me a message AT HOME, even though I told them several times that I would be out of town. They did nothing else. It wasn't until the groomer set off a red flag by declining to groom my dog, noting that the dog could not stand up; she said there was something wrong with this dog. In the 2 days that my dog was at Wags unable to stand up on his own, the staff did nothing to help him. They didn't contact me or my "emergency person", nor did they seek medical attention for him. They allowed him to fester there until I came back from my trip 2 days later. He is now at the pet hospital, very miserable. And, I?m racking up thousands in vet bills. Shame on them!

Pros: Convenient

Cons: Uncaring, poorly trained staff

Not what it appears to be

by arad

From reading the reviews I was excited to find such a cool and somewhat swanky place for my beagle to stay. I was simply shocked at how much is played up on the website in comparrison to the reality. I don't know where those pictures were taken but it was not at Wags. It is a COLD STERRIL KENNEL. My dog was in a stacked kennel surounded by probably 40 other dogs in a small space. It was stressful for her as evidenced by the fact that she lost her voice and could barely bark when we left. The play area is small and the outdoor play costs more money. THe only accurate aspect is that the people are very nice and friendly. I am sure there were nice to my dog but htere is simply no way that she got any individual love and attention. The "Luxury suite's" are ridiculous. They dress it up nicely but it is still a slab of flooring with a small enclosed indoor space. These people are playing up services to a affluent SF crowd but bottom line is they are packing these dogs in to make cash.

Pros: Nice Staff, clean

Cons: small facilities for dogs, stressful environment, over crowded, false advertising of space, slow service

A nice facade...

by sasabramson

You can dress it up but it's still a kennel. The base price is fair (more expensive though than I pay my dogsitter to watch my dog in a cage free environment) But what's really annoying is that they try to get you to pay for all the "extras" which really should be included. I mean come on, I have to PAY to have my dog's belly rubbed after she's been in a cage for 22 hours? There should be unlimited dog walks and play time for these prices.

Pros: Convienent

Cons: Not worth the price

A little disapointing

by sagirl

Its a great space and def very clean. However, its a little misleading - for the basic boarding fee your dog stays in its cage or room for 22 hours - dogs are only allowed out for 2 hours a day. If you want your dog to go on the grassy roof or get a belly rub, you get charged extra and thats when it becomes expensive. My very sociable and energetic scottish terrier would not be happy with that. I think it s a good place for dogs who are okay with their own company or have special needs but for the average pooch who likes to be around other dogs and near people, it wouldn't work. I won't be boarding my dog there, San Francisco has plenty of true cageless boarding places.

Pros: Great space, clean

Cons: Dogs only allowed out 2 hrs a day

Love it!

by col_forbin

Wag is awesome! I've never felt comfortable leaving my dog anywhere while I was out of town- always had a friend stay at my place. I stumbled upon Wag's West Sac. location & loved it. I originally just went in to check out their pet boutique but, joined others on a tour and was really impressed with the facility & the employees. Now my dog gets to play with others- exercise all day- walks, too. He loves going. Wag in SF is a dream come true- Love it!

Exceptional Service

by laurabourret

WAG Hotels is absolutely the best place for a dog or cat to stay in the city. The door-to-door pick up and delivery service is perfect for my busy schedule. The hotel is super clean and has a hip vibe. The staff seem to love my dog as much as I do. Luxury suites, swimming pool, salon, spa, massages, and a roof top dog park. I wish I could stay!

Pros: Convenient, Clean, Courteous, Professional, Unique and Affordable

Cons: none
