We happened to be in the neighborhood when we came across the Jade Lounge. Cozy and inviting with live music, and best of all they told us most are FREE. Now I'm a fan of FREE so this is momentous to me. Plus their food was pretty cheap

I was so excited to try this place. We went last night with the intention of trying their fabulous looking all night Tuesday happy hour. The place has a great vibe and the menu looked amazing. There were some tables that had been vacated but hadn't been cleaned. We took a seat (at one of the dirty tables) and checked out the menu and decided what we wanted to order. Two servers walked by us several times and didn't acknowledge us or the fact that the table was dirty. After about 10 minutes we got up and left totally disgusted. They didn't need to clean our table or take our order right then if they didn't have the time, but they did need to let us know that they saw us at least... Sadly, we will not be going back.

Pros: none

Cons: no service

The ambiance is seductive and cool, while the service is surprisingly friendly, and the drinks potent. I enjoyed a Bodhi Tree and loved the fun glass it came in and the interesting flavors it combined. I would love to come back, if only to sample every other intriguing concoction they offer.

Pros: Strong drinks, service, lounge vibe

Cons: Smallish space

We really enjoyed our time there. We usually just make a meal of the appetizers and it was very easy to find something for everybody. The Yam Fries were especially good. And the bartender was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Pros: Very good take on the food

Cons: pork egg rolls were slightly over-spiced

I had seen this place next to il Piatto for about a year but never had the opportunity to stop in until last week. This is one of the most unique bars in town, decor-wise. The room is entirely green with shellaced walls and cool lighting. The bar staff was super friendly and the drinks were de-lish. Two thumbs up on Jade Lounge...I'll be back for sure.

I have had only great experiences at this neighborhood spot -- good food, unusual drinks, really nice staff, and the owners are very friendly and really make you feel welcome. I like it.

Pros: ambiance, food

Cons: the DJ was a little loud

Great variety of inexpensive food items to choose from, plus it lasts all night long. We went on a Thursday, what a cool place. Interesting drink menu, lots of house infusions.
The service was very friendly, always a big plus. Loved the decor.

Pros: Good Food, inexpensive

The woman tending bar gave us nothing but attitude all night. The drinks when we got them were good but the food was pretty bland and overpriced. The dj was ok but a lot of the time it droned on and on. Overall, there are way better places to spend an evening.

Pros: non-smoking inside

What better place to go for Happy Hour! Ordered the Salad Rolls, Tempura Vegetables (includes Yams & Beets), Grilled Chicken w/peanut sauce. Yummy and delicious. Drinks: Pear Sake (my favorite).
Atmosphere: Love the decor. Quiet and cozy. A hidden SE location to become known to all of Portland fast!

Not just disappointing, but actually terrible. The green glow is uncomfortable and annoying, yes, and the DJ is a mild nuiscance with his slightly distorted version of "mixing," but the food came as the great shocker. It's just bad. Springrolls were dry and unappetizing, pad thai was undistinguishable... didn't realize that the Thai used soggy spaghetti noodles in canned peanut sauce... and the "Special" was anything but. Again, I remind you, it wasnt just kind of not good, it was terrible. To top it off, the service was slow. Four of us sat down for dinner, and three were finished before the final dinner plate even arrived. Silverware didn't make it to the table until the food was cold. It was a pretty miserable experience.

I like IlPiatto! What happened? Don't they share a kitchen and a chef? Who in their right mind would let food out of the kitchen as it was?

My diet coke was decent though.

This place is my new favorite. The drinks are creative, the staff is super friendly and the food is not only relatively cheap but also real good. Though I have seen another review critiquing the green lighting I find it unique and perfect for an intimate evening. Another great thing is they have DJ's several nights during the week and also several all night happy hours.
Definitely my kind of place.

I tried this place with some friends after seeing mostly good reviews on here. True, the drinks were interesting and good, and the food was great...however, the service was so slow it really wasn't worth the wait. We were there for two hours and felt completely neglected- there was no chance to get a refill on our drinks (until we flagged someone down to ask for the bill), our order was missing an appetizer, and the servers avoided eye contact. It did look like there was one guy doing most of the waitstaff/bartender duty, and he was nice though flustered and spread thin. We won't be going back though, and unless they increase the waitstaff I wouldn't recommend it.

I walked into Jade Lounge after work, tired and hungry and was delightfully surprised by the general atmosphere. I was seated next to the bar by a friendly and amiable waitress. My usually quick overview of the menu took longer then anticipated because there was such a variety of delicious entrees. I ordered the Jaded Player cocktail and then another one. The unique flavors were like nothing I have ever had before. My meal arrived shortly after placing my order, and was some of the best pan-asian food I have ever had. The decor was sultry and the music - intoxicating. I plan on coming in again very soon.

Oh I love the Jade Lounge! I started going there because it was convenient (right in my 'hood), but I keep going back because I like it so much. It's a great place to wind down with some tunes after a long day at work. Anyway, so normally I'm a beer drinker, but I can't resist the infused liquours and fresh juices that go into their cocktails, so that's what I typically go for when I'm at Jade. On Tuesdays and Thursdays they have $3 munchies all night (get the tempura vegetables: deep fried beets - Omigosh!), and they have dope-ass DJs a few nights a week. Also, the staff's awesome. Don, Rosie, and Todd, and even a few of the kitchen guys have gone out of their way to learn my name. You could say that's good customer service, but that doesn't really describe it right. It feels more like just going to see some friends... friends who make really awesome cocktails!

I've been to the Jade (since it's in my neighborhood) several times over the past few months and have seen it really come into its own. They've had a few new and diverse DJs who have added spice and interest. I've now brought my mom in and some friends from out of town as well as hang out there just for a local drink by myself. All experiences have been great. Check out DJ Nealie Neal who spins some great music on Thursdays and Saturdays. They have another, different DJ on Tuesdays who is also great and they have a happy hour all day on Tuesday. I like this place, it's becoming my favorite neighborhood bar. And regarding the other review - I've never EVER heard anything close to goth music playing there and I've always been served drinks in a friendly manner. Sometimes it pays not to leave a place in a huff after three minutes.

Walked into this place and immediately knew I had made a mistake. Took me awhile to adjust to the uncomfortable green glow and bad goth music. When I did, I was greeted with a scowl from the stocky dude tinkering with something behind the bar and "it'll be a minute" (I was the only customer and it was 10 on thursday). So sorry to trouble you buddy. I took the cue and left dude in to his muddling and his sickly green glow (which I think is there to mask the cheesy Chinatown decor).

Came in for a great Saturday night, with some friends, and has got to be one of the best lounges out there! Delicious small plates, and amazing drinks! I will be back in soon!

Fantastic and unusual cocktails. They make their own vodka infusions with things like lemongrass and chilis, and fresh fruit purees. You can taste the difference. Great atmosphere and friendly service, too.
