Simply the BEST!!!!
I just returned from a visit at Curl Up & Dye and I feel so good about my choice to walk in on a whim. I was greeted by a smiling receptionist who got me in right away. I enjoyed a wonderful cup of tea, an amazing shampoo/head massage, and great conversation with a stylist who looked me in the eyes and treated me like a queen. I now have a wonderfully sexy look that will be very easy to maintain. I am so happy and I look forward to many returns!! I also bought an organic shampoo that smells ever so yummy that will keep me smiling between visits.
I really feel my money is well spent at this salon, instead of feeling like I just over paid for a moderate service which is the usual in manhattan.
I now have a stylist I can trust to make me look my best and a salon I actually enjoy visiting, doesn't feel like a chore but rather a treat for me!!!!

Stylist/Colorist David Gordon makes this place worth it!
David Gordon is a consummate professional, creative, caring, quick, and amazing. He consulted me about my color, cut, hair condition and hair health, went beyond my expectations with his color and cut and styling, and gave me the best hair cut i have had in several years. He does get busy, because he is in demand, as he should be. But he is loyal to his repeat clients and I am now one of those. Its best to book in advance. The Salon is less crowded during weekdays, and weekends are crazy busy for as much as I've seen. I can't comment on the other stylists, but I wouldn't want anyone else to touch my hair. And David does color exceptionally well, blond included. This is not a salon where everyone does the same haircut or color, has the same skills, so I can say David Gordon stands out from the rest of the crowd, as much as I can tell. You wont be disappointed with David. Just don't try to take my appointment from me, Just kidding, you wouldn't get it.

I like the place and I am not the owner.
I like the salon. I am not the owner.I like the owner I like the job they do. It's not easy running a profitable business in the area. There's a lot of competition in the area. I like the other stylists as well...

what a great surprise
thanks to the previous reviews, I was reunited with my stylist last week. I'm still walking on clouds.
Ayten never fails to deliver. She is a magician, I absolutely agree with the other reviewer!
Curl up & Dye Salon is affordable, and professional. A real gem, don't mind the name :)

Yi is fabulous
Go see Yi! A friend suggested I go here and I was nervous because my friend is well-to-do and glamorous and though I knew I'd look great (I knew she'd never trust her hair to anyone less than wonderful), I thought it might cost a fortune, based on her taste. I was so happy to find out that not only would I get excellent service from the delightful Yi, but that it would be for a reasonable price! My friend could go to any salon in town and she chose Yi - and so do I. Yi is fabulous with both cut and color, charming and easy to chat with (I hate being awkward with the stylist), and is equally fantastic whether you say "please do it just like this" or "Do whatever you think is best!". In fact, I recommend leaving it to her.

What you want is what you get
Genius! That's how I would describe the talent at this small but very talented salon. I walked in feeling nervous about coloring my hair because I had never done it before. My hair is naturally very dark and curly and I wanted to lighten it slightly with just a few face framing highlights and that's exactly what I got. My stylist made sure to ask her coworkers for second opinions on what color she was going to mix. Which I must say is a nice thing to see because most salons have stylists with such egos they would never ask each other for help to make the client happy. Happy!! is an understatement on how I feel. I truly expected to pay twice as much as I did. Very fair with prices considering location and talent. I am so happy to have found this salon. Thank you and just know you have a loyal client from now on.
Pros: Amy's shampoo/management makes you feel welcomed
Cons: None while I was there

Amazing highlites, worth every penny, and reasonably priced for incredible work! In NYC, work like this usually costs 2xs as much!
I am so very happy with my experience as a client of Curl Up & Dye! I formally went to a "celeb" stylist, he was so fab that the price was an entire weeks pay, yeah right, the guy never listened to me and never made me look my best, he simply wasn't the best. I walk by curl p & dye almost everyday and finally went in to check it out and just as they say, it was meant to be! The staff are real, they are friendly and tell it like it is, the stylist shared her honest opinion and I chose what I was interested in. The stylist was very clear about the prices and the process. I was heard, they listen, imagine that! I got what I wanted and more I look fantastic, if I do say so myself. The yummy late' and cool refreshing glass of water were lovely as I chatted with my stylist and the rest of the staff. I simply must say they are totally my new spot, reasonable prices for work that is comparable to the "celeb" stylist but they are better because they make you look like a celeb instead of acting like they are one themselves, real people with real talent, now that is what a real new yorker wants after all. And did I mention I am a naturally dirty blonde who now looks like a natural beach bunny babe with sun kissed perfect blonde highlights, and that has been attempted by many stylists across the board in NYC and until this salon I never felt it looked natural, I am ohhh soo honestly happy and will be a loyal client!!
Pros: Real people with real talent!!!! Reasonable prices for incredible work!!
Cons: They only accept Visa & Mastercard and gotta bring cash for gratuity.

The Best Hair Color-Cut & Style I have had in Three Years of looking around The UWS
I am so pleased to have found this Salon. Even though it does get a bit crowded on weekends, I am in LOVE with my Stylist/colorist David Gordon. He has brought my hair back to its full health and glory. He took my mangled locks and resurrected them to make me look years younger and healthier, and my friends are jealous. I can tell. David is a master at natural looking color and highlights, and has a variety of techniques that allow him to reinvent my style with a fresh modern and age
appropriate, creative flair. The salon does take walk-ins, but I highly recommend booking appointments in advance if you want to check this salon out on the weekends. They do get busy and have a loyal following.
Pros: Great talented professional staff, David Gordon is the best!
Cons: Gets crowded on the weekends and after work
