hands down one of the best bars in nyc
been to this bar a million times and have never been dissapointed. I love the staff that seem to pretty much love working there & never turns down a shot (1 star). For those that don't know here's the inside scoop from someone who never cares to write reviews but this has finally earned one: Yes an impressive beer bar with cask ale & all that (1 star), but only regulars know the underbelly. A nice treat to have seen Peter Bjorn & John guest DJ there & get wasted with them, another time the guys from the Black Keys & Pete Yorn were drinking out back (2 stars) . indie label players like Beggar's Banquet, Rough trade, DFA records hang there to get banged up & listen to the DJs or seriously the best ipod playlist in town. Yea, the music is the main backdrop of this place & if you happen to see a fratty person hanging in the midsts of the hipsters, they're at the bar living their secret lives as music lovers & trying to break free of the cookie cutter. If you want an education in good music, this is the spot that won't get played out. btw, the bartender said that beggars banquet is doing a CMJ afterparty there with the Teenagers as one of the guest djs. Will I be there? yea. (10 stars)
Pros: good beer, cool staff, great music
Cons: needs to be bigger & more bathrooms

Good selection, dead happy hour, drab outdoors
We showed up around 6 on a Friday and their courtyard was practically empty. The draft specials didn't apply to the ones we wanted to try, but full price was worth it. I hear that it got really busy around 10 or 11. Don't expect a sunset view or a lot of room to move when it gets busy. But I would go back for a nice craft beer experience.
Pros: Great selection, outdoor seating
Cons: no sunset, not a lot of room

Make note: Crashin"in Party now in Manhattan
I've always loved the Crashin"In party & now they've expanded from Brooklyn to Manhattan at Stanton Public. This my first visit to the place so here's my take on the spot: Overall I have to say that it is definitely worth visiting. It was extremely packed when i went last weekend because it was 1130 on a Saturday night. Regardless, they had TONS of delicious beer on tap. I had some nice Weihenstephaner, Delirium Tremens, Chimay White, etc. All were reasonably priced (about the same as buying a Heineken at a shtty club in manhattan). They also have Cask Drawn Ales every week and are constantly updated. I didn't try the food so I really don't know how that is. I also grabbed a dogfish head 90 minute (cost me around 6 bucks-awesome!) and numerous other beers. I had a great time and an even more interesting time trying to get home. Don't drink and drive, but do visit Stanton Public.
Pros: Beers & Crashin' In now in manhattan
Cons: On Saturdays go early to grab a spot or come after 1:30 when it eases up on people and is the best time to hang

Pick you up @ 9
GO GO GO to this place!! Ill give you a ride if it comes down to that! Definitely my favorite beer bar in the city right now. Extremely cozy and welcoming, very hip - the owners have an impeccable taste in music and the bartenders/waitresses are gorgeous. Perfect stop for a great beer and mingling amongst friends and strangers! Fantastic garden in the back as well where you can chill and enjoy the crisp NYC night air or take all your friends and have a party. Definitely one of the top 2-3 places in the city to grab a beer, thats saying a LOT.

Williamsburg-esque
Fantastic! This is a cool, Williamsburg-esque hipsterbar. Attractive waitresses. A hilarious menu featuring TV dinners (salisbury steak - 1 and a half pounds of food! the menu screams, tongue in cheek). To go with your TV dinners, you can get a Bud Light for $2. But thats the only macroswill on this this bar. Theres a handpump, and about plenty of Sixpoint, Captain Lawrence, and Belgians. Some recent brews available were: Deus, Hofbrau Munchen Dunkel, Brooklyn Coney Island Lager. Perhaps 50 beers, Id guess. Beer garden in back. One of NYCs very best to compete with Billyburgs top contenders, Spuyten Duyvil, Barcade, Diamond and Gutter.
Pros: These types of bars will keep the Lower East Side the Lower East Side, attractive waitresses
Cons: I'm sure there are some, but I haven't seen any yet
