Umai Umai restaurant is exactly what Umai stands for: savory taste sensation. Umai uses only the freshest ingredients to keep cusine natural and full of flavor. Located on 22nd Street near Spring Garden, Umai Umai's menu is full of unique and wonderful dishes that you can't get at any other sushi bar. Enjoy a wonderful fusion menu where sesame chicken peacefully co-exists with lamb chops, and a Kobe beef entree is followed by a creme brulee and chocolate fondue. Entrees ($13-$28) also include an international medley of dishes such as Thai seafood paella, surf and turf carpaccio, shrimp pad thai, and specialty rolls ($13-$16) with names like Nemo and Poseidon from the sushi bar. Umai Umai is the latest creation of chef Alexander McCoy.

Best alternative to Morimoto  5 Star Rating - World class

Fresh ingredients, friendly service, one of the best in the City, no kidding. Was curious at first, became a regular. Can't go to Morimoto every week, but can afford comparable food at Umai. I was tired with the mediocre quality of Sushi in the City. If you are a Sushi lover, or like that trendy "fusion" word, Umai is the place. Already recommended several friends and all were delighted with the quality, creativity and presentation of the food.
Keep the good work. You are the best in the City. Bravo

My favortie sushi place in town 5 Star Rating - World class

In my personal opinon, the sushi at this place is comparable to Morimoto but at half the price, byo, and with a friendly chef and waitstaff. I highly recommend it.

Wonderful Neighborhood Addition 5 Star Rating - World class

We are becoming regulars at this fantastic addition to the Spring Garden/Art Museum/Fairmount neighborhood. Cozy and delicious, we keep coming back for more! The chef has a wonderful sushi menu, and also has creative hot entrees. He changes the menu up frequently and always has super-fresh ingredients. Remember to BYO sake or wine, and things get pretty busy on Fridays and Saturdays.
