I agree with the others on this site. JB truly takes the time to listen to what you want, and is focused on giving you what YOU want and not what a stylist thinks you should have.

When I went the first time I had very badly damaged hair that was breaking off like crazy from all the color damage. I had home colored my hair to the point that it was unrecognizable on any color scale. I actually had a man come up to me in the street in a foreign country and ask me "What color is your hair?!?" That's bad.

Just one visit and almost all of the nasty brassiness is gone and I"m getting my blonde back. One of the nice things is that JB focuses first on getting your hair healthy, so he won't do a bunch of things all at once that will add damage even if he could make more money by doing it. Healthy hair first. Yayyy! Otherwise you wouldn't be a return customer because you wouldn't have hair. It may take 2-3 visits to get my color and condition back, but I'm well on the way now, and have another appt. this week.

I relied on the posts on this site, and they were right. But do be on time - its sooo nice that here in Miami someone is right on time and not Miami time. :)

I was looking for a new stylist and came across JB Veltman. My first impression was lasting... he took the time to listen to what I needed and I got the results

JB understands his clients and truly is a fabulous artist! My hair has never looked better. I have very difficult hair, and JB is the only one I would trust with it! So glad I found him.

His assistant Kara is wonderful too!!! I really enjoy going in to see them both. :)

I came to JB with messed up highlights and he gradually transformed my hair into the most beautiful it's ever been. He is truly experienced in every way--he listens to you and combines your wants with his expertise to create the healthiest, most gorgeous hair. I can't imagine going anywhere else now.

Plus, his assistant Kara is--no lie--THE best scalp massager EVER. We've all gotten our hair shampooed at places where they only care to wash it, but Kara really digs in for a good amount of time, resulting in the best scalp massage you could ever dream of.

Basically, you won't regret going to JB. TRUST ME.

Incredible artist! My hair has not looked this good in a long time. JB and his assistant Cara are wonderful. JB is outstanding when it comes to color and color corrections. I would recommend JB for anyone who is tired of mediocre hairstylists and is ready for some seriously spectacular hair!

I have never had better hair in my life. JB is the best! My color is so natural looking, and the cut is just perfect. JB listens to his clients, and is so friendly and attentive to their wants/needs. His experience and talents are just amazing!! He truly is the Grove's best kept secret. Plus his assistant Cara is totally awesome too!! =)

I went to J.B. Veltman looking for a new salon and was pleasantly surprised. I am a very picky customer and
J.B. and his staff made me feel at home. My hair needed a different color of highlights and he was very attentive and professional. The highlights he did were very natural and complimentary to my skin color. He also styled my hair and it looked thicker and shinier than ever. Overall his service was excellent.

I recently moved and had to find a new hair stylist. I went to JB because of these reviews. I am VERY VERY picky as to how my hair is treated and done as well as the person who is touching it. So it took some courage to go, however I am so glad I did. JB listens and does what you say about your hair instead of telling you what should, can and can't be done. That alone is hard to find in many stylists.
Thanks to JB I have gorgeous colored healthy hair that I am very happy about.

I had a great expereince with JB Veltman after getting tired of trying all the "trendy" over priced salons in the area - where I was almost always left with a very average style and unnatual highlights. JB gave great recommendations about how to style my hair. I never felt like he was tkaing advantage of me by pressuring me to do ore to my hair than was necessary. He is honest and it is obvious very good at what he does. My hair color has never looked more natural or as beautiful. For someone looking for quality, I highly recommend JB.

I felt compelled to write a review of my experience with JB Veltman, since I was lucky enough to find him here on CitySearch.

My first impression of the salon was Cara, JB?s Assistant. She met me at the door and I immediately liked her. She is adorable, sweet, personable and very attentive.

While most salons in Miami make you feel like you?ve walked into a club in South Beach, with tons of affected people attempting to out trend each other. Walking into JB?s, you instantly feel as comfortable and relaxed as if you stopped by a friend?s house. The salon is small and each client receives JB?s undivided attention.

I was early for my appointment, so I was introduced to JB as he was blowing out a client?s hair. As I watched JB interact with his client, I quickly realized he was a warm, funny, unassuming and artistic person. I relaxed into the couch, sure I was in good hands.

Just as I suspected, my whole experience with JB was an absolute delight! I have naturally dark hair and have been coloring my hair blonde for years. My previous colorists left my hair brassy, damaged and an unnatural blonde. When I walked out of JB?s salon I was left with the prettiest color my hair has ever seen and the assurance from now on my hair is in great hands!

JB literally saved my hair - or what was left of it! My hair was very damaged from previous highlight jobs that I had received. I was desperate to find a good stylist when I moved to Miami. I was recommended to JB by one of his long tome clients and without a 2nd thought I called and made an appointment. Right when I walked into the salon JB was so welcoming and was genuinely interested in what I had to say about my hair. He asked specific questions about my hair, and really analyzed it to see what would be best to fix the damage that bleach had done to my hair! He told me that it would take about 2 to 3 visits to completely repair my hair - which was FINE with me. After the VERY FIRST visit I could tell a complete transformation - it was SO natural looking and so soft - and of course it got better and better with each visit. He literally saved my hair - and I love it! I have never received so many compliments on the cut and color of my hair!! We had to move from Miami - and I don't know what I am going to do without him. When we moved JB was sweet enough to write down my formula that he was using on my hair - which was so great! I can not thank him enough for what he did for me! I LOVE MY HAIR!!!

I have been fortunate to be one of JB's clients for over 5 years now. in that time , JB has not only given me a great haircut every single month(thats a lot of cuts), but in addition , he seems to always have to be able to help me with style questions, tell me what great new book I need to read, and even the right gift for my anniversary( Tiffany).Jb is a professional, very knowledgeable about what he does, and I could not imagine going to anyone else!

I was going through City Search looking for a hair stylist when I came accross JB's tag line. I liked that it said "a hair stylist that listens to you". I knew exactly what I wanted but it wasn't until I met JB and he actually listened and took the time to work with me finding the ideal cut and color for my difficult hair. I left the salon happier than I have ever been after having my hair done. I will be back!

I highly recommend J.B Veltman as your one and only hairstylist. J.B. posses an extraordinary artistic gift for hair coloring, and cutting hair. He as an amazing ability to make you look like a STAR. His wonderful and energetic personality makes your visit to his salon a pleasurable experience. As far as Im concern J.B. is irreplacable. I am truly happy and lucky to have found him.

I read the reviews on citysearch and decided to give JB a go! He is fantastic! My hair was damaged from a previous hairdresser and my color was in desperate need of a change. He not only saved my hair but he gave it an amazing color with great highlights. Be sure to ask him about his layers too. I have really thick hair so it is hard to get a good cut. Everyone compliments it!

Great salon, beautiful area, and always on time (which is more than I can say for every other hairdresser in the world).

Oh yeah...he's hilarious too! He'll have you laughing so hard you won't want to leave!!!

Time is important to me with my schedule, and I get my haircut every 3 weeks. JB has been cutting my hair for a long time and it is always a pleasure to work with JB. I'm glad I listened to my girlfriend who told me to stop getting insurance-salesman-type haircuts. JB gives me a look that looks professional but has a slight edge. I recommend him highly.

I have very curly hair and have been on a mission my entire life to find someone who knows how to cut curly hair. Fifteen years ago I found JB and my hair has never been the same. My curls are wonderfully flowing thanks to JB! I finally got my sister to visit while she was in Miami from Vancouver. She was cutting her own hair and doing her own color. When JB was done with her, she looked like a different person. You should have seen her glow! When I began to show signs of graying JB was there to hide them. I have never found anyone who matches his creativity in mixing color. I know this is true because one time I needed to have my hair colored and JB was out of town. I went to a salon near my home and needless to say, I never went back. If I have stay gray a while longer than usual so be it - The only one I?m letting near my hair with color is JB!

Pros: Quite atmosphere. Very individualized attention.

Cons: Parking on Saturdays can be a bit of a challenge.

I had been going stylist to stylist, never finding someone who could highlight my dark brown hair to look natural and young but with no red. I did not want to be another blond, or a dingy brunette: i wanted to keep my natural color, but to look more like my law school pictures. JB was the first person to understand and give me highlights in my dark brown hair that looked the way I wanted. It's also nice to have a stylist who encourages clients who like their long hair to keep it long and current.

J.B. is a miracle worker. I was very unhappy with my new blonde hair. It was just not the color I wanted. I was desperate for a new hairdresser. Then I saw J.B. in the Style Section of the Miami Herald, you know the section where they feature someone once a week who knows how to put together a great outfit. Well, J.B. looked pretty cool to me and I liked where his salon was located. I went for a consultation and I loved what he had to say, but, most importantly I loved what he did with my new blonde locks. I get tons of complements about my hair and my hair is in great condition. Also, I use to spend hours getting my hair colored and then highlighted and that is when J.B. works the super miracle. I am in and out in a flash. J.B. also is so accommodating about appointments and dependable. He is very professional, always running on time. I have recommended friends to J.B. and they love him and his miracles also. J.B. is the best!

JB has been my hairdresser for the past year. He's the only one I've ever found that will both color and cut my hair to perfection! Always friendly and accommodating, JB and Keidy, his assistant, are always a pleasure to be around. He'll work around my schedule and is always able to fit me in on short notice. I never spend any time waiting around, he's very punctual, not often the case in Miami!

It is a pleasure to be in the hands of a true professional. When I am in JB's chair, I feel like I can just close my eyes and relax, because I know that JB knows what he is doing, and that he will remember my comments on my last haircut. The first time I went to JB, as he explained my hair to me, I felt like I finally understood what was going on up there! He wisely suggested I move towards a longer style, and I have kept that. JB has tremendous style. He understands that style is just a well-focused expression of personality: he knows that my haircut is the expression of MY personality, not HIS. JB is a pleasure to spend time with, making a haircut less of a maintenance duty and more of an occasion to spend time with someone I enjoy and respect. When I see the other clients before and after my appointment, I feel a kinship with people who are very different from me, but who have a similar "quality radar" to mine, that attuned them to JB. I have recommended him to friends getting married and the entire wedding party was grateful for the recommendation. JB does run on time and appreciates when clients help him to maintain his schedule, which respects realistic time frames.

JB is the best hair colorist in Miami - and I have tried them all! I love what he does with my hair...the cut and the color are fabulous and I have been a loyal client for over fifteen years. He always keeps my hair looking great. Not to mention he is such a doll!!!!! XOXO Love you JB!!!!

I say that JB is the best because I am very particular about my hair cut and color and since I have been coming to JB my hair has never looked better. I don't bother coming in with preconceived ideas of what I want done, I just let JB "work his magic" and I have NEVER been disappointed with the results. His enthusiasm, love of women and how they look, and his knowledge of what is new and modern are unparalleled in this town. I have been wearing my hair long with blonde highlights for thirty years and my hair has a great shine and feels and looks healthier since I have been entrusting it to JB (I recommend the after-color glaze treatment.)

The added bonus is that JB is one of the nicest, most knowledgeable people in his profession. I look forward to my appointments as I know that I will not only walk out with a great cut and color, but I will have felt like I whiled away the afternoon with a dear friend.

I saw a woman who had the most beautiful haircut and color. I had to ask who is her hairstylist. She enthusiastically told me about JB. I made an appointment that very same day. Now I too have the most beautiful haircut and color. I"m certain tomorrow someone will come up to me and ask "where did you get that awesome haircut?" I will then tell them about JB....
