AMAZING FOOD & SERVICE
Nero's Grill is one of my favorite Restaurants. This surprises many people because I live all the way in California! When I make my once a year trip to Nashville you can expect to see me there 2-3 times! =) Cause I live in California I had never tried a corn cake before but now it is one of my favorite things to eat!

I won't lie: it is pretty darned good. I did not have the best of customer experiences here (my waiter seemed somewhat dazed), but the steak was well done and I had no complaints with the bill.

Rude!
by 82Mouton
I went in there and asked the hostess a simple question. The hostess (an older lady) was very snotty to me. Her attitude was as if I should be glad that they allowed me in. I wasn't dressed poorly. Who do you think you are??? The French Laundry? Seriously guys. Does it hurt to be pleasent? Anyway, I turned around and walked out, called my friends that I was meeting there and we elected to go elsewhere. Clearly you guys think very highly of yourselves. Good luck with that. I won't be back.

Best Mother's Day Ever
by mayogossettmedia
There were nine of us for brunch on Sunday on what will most likely be my Mother's last Mother's Day. Her failing health has made it very difficult to get her out and your staff made every effort for it to be a lovely and dignified occasion. The food was awesome as always, never lets us down. Thank you for the rose, the servers, especially William and the lovely complimentary group photo, which we shall cherish. So glad you all are here.

Pros: Excellent service from arrival until departure

Poor experience -- and on Mother's Day!
by nashvilleguy37211
My wife, son and I dined at Nero's Grill on Easter Sunday and were positive enough about that experience to return on Mother's Day. We noticed a distinctly different atmosphere; thing were hurried, even hectic. We were rushed into the restaurant, seated and had our drink order taken. After that we hardly saw our server-- except to have our plates and cutlery removed. I returned from the restroom to find EVERYTHING gone. In brief, we got what my father called 'the bum's rush." The bill came to $99.06 (definitely not a bargain for the standard Sunday buffet fare Nero's provides). The crowning indignity was truly sad: my wife let the place without a rose (every other mother got one). This produced tears, I am sorry to say.
We will not return to Nero's Grill.
Pros: Decent but definitley not great food
Cons: Rushed, indifferent service

Best Food & Service in town!!!
by monkey317
The service was unbelievable. Our server, Herman, rocks! My husband & I had the grilled parmesan oysters. We could have eaten this all night it was so delicious & fresh. We finished it before the shells had time to cool! Then their crispy corn cakes were fried to perfection & the salads were good also. My husband had the special stuffed halibut. It couldn't have been anymore tasty with the shrimp, tomatoes & spinach stuffed in a puff pastry. It just melted in your mouth & everything was fresh as usual. I had a filet stuffed with mushrooms in a red wine demi-glace with carmelized onion & I savored every bite. This was my 4th time to eat here & I haven't been disappointed yet. Our 9 yr. old enjoys it too. I could eat here every day. I'm trying to persuade my husband to bring me for the mother's Day brunch. It sounds fantabulous!
Pros: friendly service & fabulous food
Cons: None!

by aries1946
when you can have great food and good wine served by a knowledgable and great server like i had for my birthday dinner why would you go any place else It was my first time dining at Neros but it won't be the last. Everyone in Nashville should experience this wonderful jewell. Keep up the good work.
Pros: best corn cakes and waiters in town
Cons: can't think of a think

Great food
by DBeardswor
The restuarant is beautiful, the food couldn't have been better. So happened to be a special on our dinners which we didn't expect. That was great. The waiter was very attentive. When the bill came, I just looked at the bottom total and added a little over 20% tip. My husband asked me how much our dinner came to and when I told him he looked at the bill and saw the waiter had already added a 33% tip so he almost got over 55% and there were only three of us at the table. Are we not suppose to make that decision?
Pros: Delicious steak and the bread was very good
Cons: Surprise on the bill

Great Place to Eat in Nashville
by Peggelz
I love Nero's! It's a great place to go for a leisurely lunch or a romantic dinner. The food is always outstanding. The staff at Nero's really makes me feel like they want me there. There is always a friendly face at the entrance to say hello. The servers are attentive without being overbearing and my glass is never empty. It's one of the few, reasonably priced restaurants in the area, that I've found, that will let you make a reservation, no matter how big or small your group is! I eat here often and always make a point of taking out of town guests there at least once during their visit.

Grilled Oysters are unbelievably delectable !!!
by coloneljohn
It is great to visit a place with local history & ownership as well as meet the 2nd generation owner.
My family & friends we amazingly pleased with the smoky flavor & meatiness of their grilled oysters. Ordinarily many of them refuse oysters but not these. Definitely worth a try ! The calamari was light & crisp and the salmon martini & crostini were had just the right mix of onion & capers , too.
Entrees were execellent; Black & Bleu salad, Grilled Elk ( Very Good even though hot sauce smothered some of the flavor)
The Coppola Chardonnay was crisp & clean. The Cab fromk Chile was full bodied , rich with just riught amount of tannins.
Service was attentive & very personable. We'll be back !!!

Great Food and Service
by Zaloo
What a wonderful neighborhood restaurant Nero's Grill has turned out to be. We weren't sure what to expect our first time dining there over a year and a half ago but have been there more times than we can count and they meet our expectations each time. The menu is quite large and offers something for everyone whether you are looking for a inexpensive lunch or a great steak dinner. My personal favorites are the Potato encrusted Halibut and Chicken Piccata. My husband's favorites are the Elk tenderloin and their large Strip steak. Our kids enjoy the ribs, crunchy trout, cobb salad and prime rib. While service when they first opened could sometimes be shaky it has been over a year since we had any service issues. We see the same great servers each time. Please ask for Andy, Wayne or Matt they will meet your expectations. What a great find in the heart of Green Hills!
Pros: Friendly, Well trained staff Great food at great prices

Nero's, My kind of Place
by SSherrill
My family has been to Nero's on many occasions. We have always been pleased with the exceptional service, and delicious food. My 13 year old eats cornbread now, thanks to the famous corn cakes! One of my favorite aspects of Nero's is their ability accommodate group parties of all sizes. They have a small private dining room in the front that is perfect for an extended family or any small group gathering, but they can also accommodate a large group in the back dining room. One of my favorite events was held in the bar; it was a surprise birthday party for a good friend. It was a big group, but we never felt crowded, and everyone seemed to enjoy the appetizers, tasty drinks and the casual relaxed atmosphere. I am really fond of the crab cakes, both as an appetizer and as one of their entree menu items, Yummy!!! They have a great event co-coordinator and he was on hand to make sure every detail of the party was just perfect. Recently we enjoyed a special event dinner and wine tasting that featured the wines of Ray Merlo. The price per person was all inclusive, except for gratuity, and we enjoyed a different wine with each course, what a deal! We will continue to make Nero's our first choice for family dining, or for our next big event. Thanks to all of you at Nero's who make it one of Nashville?s best!

lots to love...
by rah347
I have been to Nero's MANY times, and am finally sitting down to write a review. I have had many of their dishes over the past few months and my favorites are the Bleu Cheese stuffed Filet, the Cobb Salad, and the Coconut Shrimp. But everything I have had there has been excellent. I love the low-key, comfortable setting in the bar, and the great atmosphere in the restaurant. Now that the winter is back, I'm going to love going in there for the fireplaces! I usually sit in the bar to meet friends, and if I am early, the bartenders give great service, and are alot of fun. I love bringing friends there because I can always be confident the food will be outstanding, the drinks perfect, and the service amazing--and now I don't even have to suggest Nero's because my friends suggest it to me! Thanks so much for a fantastic place, John and Judy!!
Pros: service, food, atmosphere, drinks

Great Service, Awesome Food
by JBobby
My wife and I ate at Nero's on Sunday night. Our server, Andy, came to our table with a warm friendly smile. He steered us towards the specials for the evening and took the time to explain the preparation and even had the knowledge to suggest a wine pairing for the bacon-wrapped prawns. Needless to say, our food and service were extraordinary, and we felt like we were treated like family during our dinner. We will definitely be back again to dine at Nero's and will certainly ask for Andy again!

Raw Food, Terrible Service
by Em1028
Some friends and I went on a double date this past Sunday evening. When we arrived, we were pleased that there was immediate seating. Once seated we ordered our drinks, then our meals. It took 20 minutes to get our salads. By the time we got our food an hour and 5 minutes had passed (there were only 5 or 6 other tables of people in the restaurant). My friend and I ordered Chicken Picata, which was basically flavorless and the noodles were over cooked. My friends boyfriend ordered Pork Tenderloin, that came in medallion size pieces. and when he cut into it, it was purple on the inside. It looked like it had just been placed on the grill long enough to sear the outside. The last time I checked pork is supposed to be cooked thoroughly, which means it is the same color all the way through. He didn't send it back because the service was so slow. It took 3 people just to fill our glasses of water. While we were there, only one table who was full when we got there left and no one had a party larger than 6 people. This should tell you something since we were there an hour and 40 minutes. I definitely would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. As a matter of fact, my friend and I have told people NOT to go there due to the bad food and service. It is definitely NOT worth the money.
Pros: Immediate Seating, Atmosphere
Cons: Service, Price, Food

Great Customer Service and wonderful food.
by kobylma
I had the lettuce wedge with extra red onions and it was wonderful. Then I had the stuffed halibut and it was also delicious.
Herman was our server and he is now my favorite server at Nero's. It was such a beautiful evening, I wanted to sit and chat with me....(his other customers may not have like it).
Johnny and Judy are so nice and make me feel so welcome and special when I come to Nero's.
Keep up the good work guys.

Nero's Grill in Green Hills
by carr8354
I have been to Nero's for Lunch', Dinner and a private party for a 65th anniversary. The best thing about Nero's is the consistency in all aspects. The facility is always spotless, the service has never been lacking, even in the back room with a large crowd placing many orders and the food is GREAT. While the menu is not a Mc Donald's value meal, Mc Donald's does not serve Steaks, Elk, Salmon etc.. with fresh vegetables. Since I have been there multiple times spanning from the opening to last night I rate Nero's Five ( 5 ) Stars. The best testament, I took my daughter to dinner and she loved the food, a 21 year old girl can be very critical when it comes to food, so I feel I am in good company in my opinion. Mike
Pros: Food, Ambience, Service, Value and Location

by mdawne
We were out shopping the other day and decided to try Nero's. The place is nice, the wait staff is friendly. The food was not worth the money. The corn bread cakes were greasy, and tasted like the oil was old. We ordered the tilapia. It was cold. It also tasted like frozen fish, not fresh. The chicken I got was over cooked, tough, and dry. I don't know who was cooking, but they need some serious quality control in the kitchen.
Pros: Staff, parking, atmosphere
Con: FOOD

great food & atmosphere!
by Momza
I went to Nero's for the first time with two of my best friends from school last night. The food (I had Bo's Pasta) was great, and so was the atmosphere. We ate on the outside patio, which was beautiful. I had a great experience and can't wait to go back.
Pros: ambience, service, food
Cons: none!

Wonderful dining experience!
by Raebeth01
Finally...a Green Hills restaurant that defines upscale casual without the snooty attitude! This place is amazing...the perfection of the prime rib nearly brought tears to my eyes and I very nearly embarrassed myself with the corn cakes :-). The service was first class...everyone I came in contact with took evident pride in their job and was genuinely nice. The bar area was nearly full when we arrived but the service was flawless and everything perfectly timed. I literally cannot think of a single thing that would have improved on the experience. The jazz singer/pianist would have been worth going to listen to even without the dining experience...she was amazing, and unlike most restaurants offering a live music performance, the room can actually handle the acoustics of the music, so you can enjoy it while being able to carry on a quiet conversation. Amazing experience all around, I can't wait to go back again!
Pros: quality of food, flawless service, valet parking
Cons: none!

Great cornbread
by Lindaidesign
Nero's was great surpirse. The cornbread is amazing. I went home from Orange County CA to visit my parents and ate at Nero's, the food was terrific. Next time I come back to town, I will stop in to enjoy more of their great southern food and hospitality!

Incredible menu items, best lunch spot in town, great service and food is awesome!
by sdnelson
We're so glad we found Nero's Grill. Its right where Green Hills Grill used to be in Green Hills and its AWESOME! We had lunch there today and it was delicious! They offer Valet parking but you don't have to use it and they have an awesome patio for outdoor seating but we dined inside today. The atmosphere is really nice but the menu is the most impressive aside from the service. The menu is so diverse. They have the best tomato basil soup also- much better than any of the other local sandwich shops! And the chicken salad croissant was incredible. It was perfect. My husband had the warm spinach salad with grilled chicken and we had crabcakes for our appetizer. It was wonderful. I can't wait to go back and try their Sunday Brunch! I hear its the best around. People need to come check out this place! Its the new treasure of a restaurant in Green Hills and you won't be disappointed. They have everything! And its SO clean, warm and inviting. We also had strawberry cake for dessert which I had never had and it was unbelievable. I can't wait to go back for dinner and Sunday brunch- and of course, lunch again!
Pros: Delicious Food, Great Lunch Spot, Service is great, location is perfect, parking is easy.
Cons: None

Fantastic restaurant!
by kimkay01
My husband and I tried Nero's after a Preds game yesterday for the first time -- what a treat! The corn cakes are fantastic (I could've eaten my weight in those alone), the ribs and steak and biscuits were both delicious entrees, and the mojito martini was to die for. The service and ambiance are great as well; all in all, this is a restaurant I can't wait to get back to. I'm looking forward to trying the steaks, stuffed potatoes, and pastas. My only regret was that I couldn't try everything I wanted on my first trip! Oh, and the oreo snowball was a great way to end the meal -- just enough, not too filling and old-fashioned yummy.
Now for the big question -- can you bring this jewel to Murfreesboro? We need you!
Pros: Portion sizes are nice -- not too large.

Good steak and Martini
by randyb1
My wife and I were visiting Nashville on Friday night when the city received a rare snowfall. Because of the threat of bad weather, there was no wait for a table. Service was prompt and very friendly. We both ordered rib eye steak and salads. Good steaks, great Martinis, and very good service. Nero?s is well worth a visit.
Pros: Steaks, Martinis, Service

Local Favorite-Great Ahi Tuna
by meyerx5
I feel like I've walked into Cheer's every time I visit Nero's. The owners, John & Judy along with the staff are so welcoming. I recently brought my co-workers in for a business dinner and it went off without a snag. They were impressed with the variety on the menu and the willingness to accommodate special requests. Being a creature of habit, I stick with the Ahi Tuna dinner with seaweed salad which is always cooked to perfection. I did splurge on the Heath Snowball for dessert which was AWESOME!! I am by no means a professional critic but do make the restaurant rounds in Nashville. Nero's makes us feel at home when I'm with the kids, co-workers, customers or a dinner alone with my husband.

I wasn't impressed.
by happybelly
I have been to this restaurant three times and EVERY SINGLE time I have been, what I wanted to eat was not available. It always amazes me that restaurants run out of food. If things are good, that sometimes happens. This is where it falls back on the management. I personally didn't want a discount, I just wanted to eat what I wanted to eat. I could have let it slide once, maybe even twice. The third time just took it to RIDICULOUS. Needless to say, I will not be returning. And, the service has always left me desiring more. They are like a bunch of zombies.
Pros: I can't think of any.
Cons: Too many to name.

Wonderful Experience
by foodyman
I have been to Nero's many times for lunch and enjoyed the ambiance, service, and food. The rib rolls are tremendous. We visited last night for a special event dinner, and were treated to a memorable evening. It was a birthday party (96th). The menu was great! The grouper with scallops is highly recommended. They even customized food for the birthday girl. Judy and John are making Nero's a destination where expectations are exceeded each visit. I cannot say enough about how willing everyone was to make the evening perfect. It made our family very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and plan on returning soon! Thank you for a great time!
Pros: Service oriented staff

good fries, raw steak
by tennsace
I have never written a restaurant review, but I was compelled to hop on the review site and warn others...be sure to define medium rare to the server and cook. My daughter ordered her riibeye steak medium rare. The steak came to the table raw, as in cold on the inside. We flagged down the server and he graciously took the plate away and said that the manager would be over to our table. After the rest of the table finished their meals, the new steak arrived and was slightly more cooked than the first steak, but not by much. We asked for a to go box and decided we would put it on the grill tomorrow night, after all, it did cost $19. We never saw the manager and vowed never to return. it is too bad, because the atmosphere is cozy with the fireplace, not very crowded (of course it was Sunday night of President's Day weekend), and the fries were tasty. Still there are a lot of other good choices in Nashville for a medium rare steak.
Pros: fireplace

First time...a Charm!
by Kathrynview
My galpal and I were in search for a place to watch a game, eat a little, kick back...and this was IT! We had driven around one long, Sunday afternoon and spotted your grill. I'm not from Nashville and knew nothing about Nero's. What a perfect spot! Lots of monitors placed perfectly. She gets a chill easily so we sat next to the comfy fireplace. The crowd was nice...not crowded, but nice. Nice folks. Great prices. The only glitch was that my fries were too salty, but they took care of that and brought me their home fries which were dipped in bleu cheese...yum! We decided that it was going to be our place to hang...kind of like a home away from home...away from kids, et.al. I absolutely was happy. Not only that, but the manager actually gave me a personal tour. An excellent place for work, family, special occasion parties in back rooms of various sizes with their own media components for private viewings of whatever people display these days. Fun, food and good drink. Congratulations! You won me!
Pros: great parking on a Sunday!...perfect seating...great food
Cons: none.

Service, Food, Atmosphere, Nero's has it all!
by jhciv
I grew up in Nashville/Green Hills and Nero's Cactus Canyon was an Icon for dinning out. The Griswolds are back! Nero's Grill has to be one of the best, local experiences going. Sure they had some bumps in the road when they first opened, but Johnny G. and his wife Judy read every single comment card, took the advise of their customers and is making it work. Everything is great from the service to the after dinner drink selections. I'm a beef eater and the chef will allow you to push the prime rib to what ever you want it to be (for a modest up charge). I know I asked for an 18oz and it was at least 22oz.. The Bow-Tie pasta, NP! I can't begin to describe how full of the different meats there are in it and how great the taste. One word of caution though, don't eat too many of the hot water corn cakes before dinner, it will cause you to have the server box up the rest of the meal for you. Great work Johnny and Judy!

Fast becoming my favorite place!
by johnpyka
Nero's is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots in Nashville. Fantastic food, great atmosphere, and excellent service are some of the hallmarks of Nero's. There are several unique items on the menu that you won't get anywhere else in town like Elk and Rabbit! My favorite dish so far is the Cajun Bowtie Pasta. Fabulous. The Spinach Crab dip is the best in Nashville, and the corncakes are a unique alternative to generic bread and rolls.
The best part is that if you ask for Johnny, the owner will come over and greet you personally! Very warm and friendly staff, from the hostesses, to the bar tenders to the wait staff and busers. But it starts from the top down!
And when ya go, tell Johnny that Big Daddy Cool sent ya!
Pros: Ambience, atmosphere
Cons: none...

Great Food and Service
by sleeky
On my many visits, I have yet to have a bad meal or experience. Much improvement has been made since the Spring 2007 opening and it is worth it. Never have had a bad meal or bad service. The ownership has always been very attentative with the service and quality offered to us. I must say, best steaks in town by far and best of all, it is locally owned and it shows in the pride they have of the restaurant. A must if you want great food and service.

Best new / old spot in Green Hills is Green Hills' best kept secret!
by billyrowland
If you haven't been to Nero's more than once, or if you went during their first months of being opened last spring, you owe it to yourself to go back. There were a few kinks in the beginning, but they seem to have worked those out. They have a new menu, lowered their prices, improved their service, and the atmosphere is warmer. I have dined there many times as I both work / live in the Green Hills area. Negatives: personally gaining weight attributed to free corn cakes, good stuffed potatoes, and good steaks at a good price. Positivies: see Negatives. In Green Hills there are very few restaurants that are not part of a chain. Green Hills residents / Nashvillians need to support a place that's trying so hard to earn the business. Where else in Green Hills can you get a good steak? No place that I can think of. Great bar, excellent service, fantastic location and free valet parking. No excuses not to go if you never have and weak excuse not to go if you haven't been recently.

Ignore that bad review!! That guy was impossible!! (I was at the next table)Fantastic food!! Fantastic service!! Fantastic owner's!!
by maliad
I have dined here several times and it has always been a great experience! I have family visiting for the holiday's and we all went for dinner last night and everyone loved it! The food was great. My father loved the Elk , my grandmother loved the filet, everyone loved the stuffed potatoes, and our waitress was awesome. The owner even came over to speak with us and make sure we enjoyed everything. The only bad thing was this terrible man at the next table who was obviously trying to get his meal for free and making a scene. I think that the owner handled him really well. He ordered 3 bottles of wine opened them all sent two back and didn't want to pay for anything. NOTHING was good enough. I am sure he is who wrote that bad review so please ignore it. That guy was truly impossible. Everyone wanted him to LEAVE!

bad service, complained, nothing done
by markbrunn
Three items on the menu were unavailable. When asked for owner , offer was made to adjust bill but upon presentation of bill nothing was done to correct the situation. Owner clams computer manages the restaurant and service comes second. Tell everyone the reason for empty tables is probably due to poor management. Need to change the name to Near Miss!
Pros: Location
Cons: Management

Great place to hook up after work with old friends and share a bottle of wine. The staff is wonderful, and the food is really good. John and Judy treat everyone as if they are old friends. The Lone Eagle sandwich is a must try - go by on a Sunday afternoon and treat yourself to one - it's worth every single calorie!
Pros: Warm and wonderful service, great food, great wines, wonderful bar
Cons: Main dining area is a little generic
