Update 11/9/09 This place is now CLOSED- Thank you Mr. Valentino. It's going to be some wing place soon. ;-)

My husband and I ate here last night and were unimpressed at best. There was only a handful of people there (1st clue ignored in error). We tried this place b/c they are in the entertainment book (expiring Nov. 1 for BOGO up to $15.95). The waiter told us that the owner had not agreed to be in the book (which sounded like cr@p to me) but would discount $7.00 toward the meal as a ??courtesy?. We should have left right then. The food when it finally arrived was substandard. My stuffed flounder was overcooked as were my husband??s steak and shrimp. The rice was OK and the veggies were very good. I cannot recommend this place- they aren??t cheap and in the Clear Lake area there are so many excellent choices that are a much better value. We gave the waiter who was very nice a generous pity tip as he can??t be making much money working for such a bad restaurant.

Cons: Overpriced overcooked over-rated

This place offered my wife and I seafood in the Baybrook mall area. Something that is not readily available to the mall. I thought...ok...red lobster isn't sooo bad. How much worse can this be?

Walked in, sat down and my mouth was in for a surprise. This is not your run of the mill seafood restaurant.

If you don't get the crabcakes, you will be sorry. I can't imagine what they tasted like before. This place has redefined crabcakes and has made me a new returning customer just by those alone.

The shrimp salad was so incredible. I am in awe of this food.

The seafood - FRESH. I mean...did they just catch this? I don't know, but man alive, THIS is what seafood is supposed to taste like. If you think Red Lobster is good, you ain't seen nothing yet. This place has a nice look and feel and the food is just one of utter delight. There were couples here on dates and a family or two as well. The owner stopped by to many of them(that I could see) including us. i gather he is Mr. Valentino, though my mind was on the food so much, I can't remember. Waitstaff was smiling and so accomodating. Are the prices for real? You get this kind of service and pay so little.

But that's not all - they got this guy who sings on Friday nights (apparantly only Fridays). Think the waiter said his name is Mike. That voice made my wife swoon. She was tired from all that shopping, but she came to life after hearing him. We ordered wine from their great selection and stayed just to keep listening. He seemed to favor older songs from the 50's through the 70's. Let's just say, we had a night to remember. Than you Mike!

And Thank you Valentino's for moving to the Baybrook area. You've got a lifetime customer in me.

Keep up the good work!

Cons: None on my visit

My wife and I have been going to this restaurant for more than two years and love this place. We found it in a strip center in Webster but since they have moved to Bay Area blvd. It is much larger place and better location. They we voted one of the top ten new restaurant last year and have some great food. My wife and I are tired of the chains and love to support local owner that give to the community they live in. We have met the owner many times. They treat us great every time we come in. We have tried lots of thing they have but as some people no there crab cake are just the best but what you have to try is there great fried shrimp. What can I say but there just the best we have ever had. The oyster are to die for in the winter. We hope that they make it in there new location as we no with the recession like it is thing are tight but my family wishes the Valentino's all the best.

I had to write this review! I have been to valentino's seafood several times and it has gotten progressively worse each time.
The service is slower, the attitudes more nonchalant, the food more bland or overcooked, and the wait for the food increased. Forget trying takeout since that doesn't work either. Please don't waste your time. I promise you it is no longer worth the effort.

If I can save one person the unnecessary expense of eating here I will be happy. My husband and I went on a Sunday at 4pm. It was pretty empty aside from the two patrons at the bar and a couple seated in the main eating area. Maybe its not such a good idea to visit a restaurant in broad daylight I thought to myself. It looked as though the floor and tables had not been cleaned from the night before. Our waiter gets up from the bar where he is watching a movie and we are seated. But wait, before I can sit I have to swipe the strand of hair and crumbs off my chair. My husband notices the napkin containing his silverware is dirty. I check mine out and yes, it is dirty as well. I let the waiter know. We get clean ones. Next my husband is served flat cola. We are informed the carbonation machine is down and are offered various un-carbonated beverages. When the raspberry ice tea comes there is lipstick on the glass. I go to use the ladies room. On my way out I look into the portion of the kitchen visible to me. It looks disgusting from the small area I can see. I go back to my table and really want to leave but stay anyway. Our dinner comes. My fried oysters are barely warm and taste bitter. The fried okra is like rubber. The hushpuppies are burnt. My husbands seafood platter is bland, the shrimp over cooked, the bacon around the shrimp undercooked. It was just horrible. I'm disgusted. On the way out the owners picture is posted on the wall. I'm embarrassed for him.

I had heard about this particular resturaunt from a friend, who considers themselves very lucky I still consider them a friend.
This nightmare began the minute I walked in the door. The putrid smell of spoiled seafood attacked me & my wife the minute I opened the door. I knew immediately we had been severely mislead. I find it strange the owner flaunt's his family business as a "fresh seafood fisherman" because that was the farthest thing from a "fresh" smell I've ever experienced.
As we waited at the hostess stand we were ignored by five, yes 5, different employees. It seemed as if we were more of a burden than an appreciated guest. The majority of the staff seemed more concerned with what was on the T.V. at the bar than us getting a seat, or a meal.
I was ready to leave, but my wife was starving and didn't want to go through the trouble of getting back in the car and selecting another spot to dine. Oh if she only knew what we were in store for!!!
When we finally got a table we waited some more, and more, and...... well, you get the picture. Maybe the waiters don't understnd that the longer a customer gets ignored it gives them more time to see all the little things that are wrong, but management certainly should. The dining room was filthy, the silverware had spots on it & so did the glassware. The music was so low that my wife and I could hear the waitstaff joking it up and using the most vulgar language ever in the back. Totally unprofessional and disrespectful.
When our waiter finally approached us he looked as if he had just rolled out of bed; unshaven, wrinkled shirt, no tie & he smelled like an ashtray!! We asked for recommendations and thought we had lost him. Definetely not a good sign when the employees can't reccomend a thing. I was starting to ask myself if even he refused to eat here himself.
We ordered the stuffed flounder and the shrimp feast special they were promoting. We waited, and waited some more for our entree's which seemed odd considering how pathetically empty this dump was. What's the need in getting food out when there are cigarettes to be smoked and stories about last nights drunken haze to discuss, huh?
Needless to say when the food arrived it was an abomination! The flounder was drenched in pan coating which tasted horrible and was terribly undercooked. The actual stuffing had a disturbing smell to it that was almost covered up by the lemon butter they attempted to drown the fish in. My wive's shrimp also smelled spoiled. I'm not sure who Valentino's has entrusted their kitchen too, but they obviously don't know that running old shrimp under water doesn't get rid of the smell or taste of foulness. Not smart hiring an inept chef to make your business a sucess, unless of course you're aiming for failure. In that case, Valentino's is right on spot!! I was unbeleivably angry at this point and just wanted to get the hell out of there.
My wife felt we should speak with a manager, but considering we hadn't seen anyone that resembled a manager since we'd entered i was willing to pay for this trash just so I could get home, I knew I was going to be sick.
So here's your warning: STAY AWAY FROM THIS ABOMINATION!!!!!!!!!! Unless of course you like the idea of shelling out $75 only to be clinging to your toilet all night afterward. I really wish Marvin Z. was still around. I feel confident he would have this place shut down A.S.A.P., someone should!

Pros: I made it to my own bathroom before the sickness set in

Cons: SO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM

I have eaten at Valentino's several times at lunch and at dinner. I love the crab cakes. I have never had a problem with them. The food has always been fresh and well served. The environment is a little casual for the price of the food, however, compared to other seafood places the price is inline with the quality of the food. I really liked the environment of the old location better but this location is easier to get to. The wait staff could be better. The best waitress they had is no longer with them. That's a shame. All in all this is a good place to eat and relax during a meal.

Pros: FRESHEST SHRIMP EVER

WILL NOT RETURN! $60.00 for two entrees, three glasses of ice tea and a house salad. fried grouper tasted like boiled egg whites due to no seasoning in the breading, steak was BURNED to the point that it was inedible, hush puppies were the worst I have EVER had...seriously, how do you screw up fried bread, shrimp did not arrive until 15 min into dinner and the plates were served 5 min apart. Attentive, albeit very unprofessional service. I heard the waiter belch across the restaurant as he was coming out of the kitchen with our food. At over $20 a plate.....I would rather eat seafood at Burger King across the street.

I dropped in on this joint last month on the saturday with the flooding and storms,,,,April 11 or the 18 I think. I was trying to get across 45 to Pappas, but was there was flooding on the access road and accidents everywhere. So I decided to try this place. First thing I noticed was few cars and a restaurant that was almost empty....You definitely did NOT have to go on a list like you do at Pappas. That was my first sign that this place might not be up to snuff.....Waitress was listless and distracted. I ordered oysters on the half shell and fried shrimp. The second sign of approaching trouble was when she came and unloaded several dishes of food,,,,not the food I ordered!!!!! But we got through that and my oyster appetizers were finally brought to me.
I eat lots of oysters, so I know what fresh oysters look like, but these definitely looked strange. Rather than the shiny surface appearance of a "just shucked" oyster,, these had a "glazed" unshiny surface, like the glazed eye of a dead animal. My first bite exploded the foul flavor in my mouth that told me I'd best expectorate this filth out real fast. I half expected to find a maggot in my mouth. So a few minutes and the waitress returns with my main meal. She did not even comment that I had not eaten 11 of the 12 oysters on ice. Third sign this place was a looser was when I took first bite of the fried shrimp. Again, it was very very hot,,,clearly just out of the frying vat, but had the unmistakeable taste of really not being fresh. I don't know if the cooks know it or not, but if you take spoiled shrimp, batter it good with sauces and flour and cook the hell out of it in super hot grease, it is still going to taste spoiled. I did eat the first shrimp, but no more. Fortunately, I did not get sick. So I tried the cole slaw,,,,,it was warm and tasted funny, like it had been made long ago and not kept at the proper temperature to discourage microbial growth. So after spending $20+ bucks,,,no tip by the way, I had the pleasure of chewing and spiting out one oyster, and eating one fried shrimp. After that, I got up and left the place with the rest of the meal pretty much intact.
As untouched as my plates were, I only hope they did not serve them to someone else. In the past I have returned to restaurants that were good, fair or merely mediocre. This restaurant is in a class by itself and I can confidently say I'll never return to this place.

WARNING: DO NOT EAT AT VALENTINO'S. My mom, sister and I went to lunch on a Saturday around 1 pm. The place wasn't very busy for a Saturday, but we still were curious about this place since we had seen it many times coming out of Baybrook Mall. We had a hard time picking items from the menu and the waiter was not very helpful/knowledgable about the menu items. He couldn't even give us a good suggestion. When we ordered, I asked for fish tacos with green beans and asparagus. My sister got the seafood platter and mom got the shrimp/fish combo platter. When the food got to the table...it looked great until we tasted it. It had hardly any salt or spices. The fish tacos were extremely dried and tasted like cardboard. The green beans and asparagus were overly cooked and very oily. This was a huge deal for me because when I ordered, I asked for the vegetables to be simply steamed (due to health reasons). The whole experience was very lackluster. When we gave our feedback to the waiter, he was very nonchalant about it and later came back to the table saying the manager was tto busy to see us (though we didn't ask to speak to the manager). We simply wanted to leave and NEVER EVER RETURN TO THIS RESTAURANT.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Everything

I have be to the old location and now the new and they are so different but so glad that nothing happened to the great food. I love the story behind Valentino's and that we now have a real seafood place out there. I went last Friday night with a girlfriend. We had the Margie's fried shrimp and they are nothing like any fried shrimp you will ever see at a chain and you can taste the freshness of the Galveston bay. The hushpuppies were also nothing like the chain you could tell they make them there home made. I would be going back again.

Last night my family and I decided to try this restaurant for the first time. I was there about 7:30 and there were several tables. We were happily greated by the host/bartender who took us to our table. The inside of the restaurant was very nice. It had a full bar, lots of neons, and pictures. After being seated we were quickly approached by our waiter that introduced himself and got out drinks. My husband is a crab lover and got the crabcakes. These carb cakes were great. They look like they were mainly crab, and the flavor that they had were so good you could not stop eating them. I had the fresh Halibut blackened. The fish was so deliciious. It tasted like they just got it out of the water. My grandchildren had the chinken fingers. It was nice that the waiter brought their food out first. Our experience here last night was the best that we have had in a long time.

This was the worst restaraunt experience that my wife and I have ever had. I do not like making negative remarks, but I hope to save many people from this experience. When we entered the establishment we almost left right away. There were few people there on a Saturday at 6:00pm. That is usually a good sign that there is something wrong. What we didn't know was just how much would be wrong! I do not know what was worst, the ambiance, service, dirty dining room, price, or food. This place was a mess. The first thing you see when you enter is the ugly bar which you can see from any table in the establishment. The floors were dirty, the tables were dusty, the host/server did not look like he showered in weeks. and was very rude. I have been fooled by first impressions in the past and wanted to still give this place a chance. We started off with calamari which tasted like rubber and was served with a ginger sauce that didn't help much. My wife got the gumbo soup about 30 minutes later which tasted like canned beef broth with shrimp and no zing. I ordered the crab cakes which were much smaller than expected and served with undercooked french fries and overcooked hush puppies. The server spent most of his time watching the baseball game on tv and never asked us how our food was. This place will not make it through the summer. It is a guaranteed failure. When we left the place, I laughed at the framed picture of the owner, Mark Valentino, on the wall. Who would want to take credit for this place? My advice to anyone wanting to go here is run as fast as you can in the opposite direction.

If I can save one person the unnecessary expense of eating here I will be happy. My husband and I went on a Sunday at 4pm. It was pretty empty aside from the two patrons at the bar and a couple seated in the main eating area. Maybe its not such I good idea to visit a restaurant in broad daylight I thought to myself. It looked as though the floor and tables had not been cleaned from the night before. We are seated. I??m disgusted. On the way out the owners picture is posted on the wall. I??m embarrassed for him.

The place looks like it is really held together by the chefs inside the kitchen. They seemed to be more aware of the actual happenings in the restaurant than the MGT

Ms. Cook's review was from a while back. Usually I concur with Allison. But...
Wife and I went there Friday last (3/20/09) at the location across from Baybrook Mall. Started poor, got worse, and turned into an expensive disaster. My wife's Gumbo came out cold. Then the green beans and rice on my wife's plate came out cold as well. Both of our entrees looked kind of like from Luby's and we definitely felt ripped off by the portion sizes. I mean for 16-20 bucks an entree, I'm expecting at least something soulless and big like you get at the Pappa's chains. Add to the fact that we were paying for babysitting to be there and our sense of value was greatly offended. Then to add a potentially litigious twist on the night, my wife got sick and threw up all night and felt sick for two days, missing work time. So the costs of the night were great for us and the benefits were very few. Go to Luby's and get the haddock.
Service was okay, though.

My girlfriend and I decided to try Valentino's for the first time on March 4th. What drew us was the nearby location to our home and the live jazz music. Our waiter was not very talkative and treated us as more of a nuisance rather than guests. We started with Caesar salads. Unfortunately most of the lettuce was old and brown. We sent hers back and upon return, the waiter brought another salad out, this time less brown, but nonetheless, still brown. We proceeded to order some appetizers to sample their menu.
We had the seafood dip, the calamari, and some stuffed shrimp on a skewer.

The seafood dip was cold and had no taste at all.
The calamari was uncut and that too had no taste, the meat tasted like imitatiion. The stuffed shrimp were good except for the last 3 on the skewer that were burned to a nice crisp black. We left hungry and close to $70 less in the bank. Never once did we feel welcomed. We shall never return to Valentinos.

I just knew upon walking in from the smell of old seafood to turn around and run out, but I said to myself just try it out. My husband, younger sister and I wanted to try a new place, nearby for dinner. The waiter was very nice; he tried his best to make conversation with us, we tried ordering raspberry tea but they were out of it, they were also out of the calamari. My sister ordered the crab cakes, my husband the coconut shrimp, and I the crawfish pie. The crab cakes were terrible, they stunk of old crab, they were terribly undercooked, and just terrible. The gratin potatoes are not to be ordered unless you want to be sick! The coconut shrimp were average tasting; the crawfish pie was just too spicy to eat, (without any warning). We paid 68 dollars for NOTHING! Our stomachs all hurt, and we regret ever walking into this place.

My husband and i wanted to try a new restaurant for our anniversary, so we decided on valentinos. We get there and the hostess just stared at us, no hi, hello, nothing. Strike one. We get sat and everything seemed to be normal so we ordered our wine and our apps. then we waited, and waited, they were not that busy so we were wondering. Finally decided to leave from the conversation he could not part himself from to do his job, and gave us our drinks.Strike two. My husband ordered the tuna and i ordered the crabcakes, and requested a salad it was deemed a side and still had to pay an extra couple of dollars for it, i didnt mind until it came out, pure iceburg lettuce and 1 cherry tomato. An extra charge for what ,use of a plate. I trying to stay in good spirits over the mediocre salad joking around with my husband that its a sign of things to come. Food arrives, everything looks great, visible chunks of crab, that was nice. the flavor was HORRIBLE!!! my husbands tuna was medium well when he asked for a sear. We ate and ran not wanting to be there any longer. We were going to spend a lovely,kid-free, night on the town until my husband gets very, ver ill. we just knew it was from the restaurant because he had not eaten that day. Well i for one will not ever return and would not wish that on my worst enemy!

I decided to have lunch with a friend at Valentinos new location in front of Baybrook Mall and was very disappointed. The resturaunt is in a prime location, but the decor was dated, and the yellow paint in the right side room was blinding. I was accomodated when I asked for grilled shrimp instead of the fried and slathered fare that was on the menu, but the presentation of my food was as bland as the plastic table coverings. My companion had the Mahi Mahi, and although the fish itself was good, the price of $20.95 was WAY to high for the tiny amount of food. I ordered the Tiramisu, and was again disappointed with the quality of the food and the presentation. For the prices that Valentinos is charging, I expected alot better quality. The only plus I have for this place is the great service. The waiters and staff were very attentive and helpful. I only wish the food lived up to the quality of service.

I came in to Valentino?s for lunch wanting to see the new location. I have dined at Valentino?s before at the old location for dinner and have had excellent experiences, but I have never dined for lunch. I have an uncommon food allergy and I alerted the waitress (young with very long blond hair) about it. She addressed it appropriately by notifying the kitchen. Points of service and standards were weak but acceptable, (i.e. serving from the left taking from the right). I asked about some of the oyster appetizers on the dinner menu but she said they were not available for LUNCH TIME, ?just because they?re on the half shell?, which did not make much sense to me. So, I ordered the Shrimp and Grits. I assumed the waitress would have known that I wanted to order from the list of lunch entrees since it was around 11:55am- 12:00pm when I arrived. The dish was pretty good. It was very rich and cheesy but the richness became overwhelming about half way through. When the check came, I noticed that the waitress had charged me for the dinner entree ($20.95), not the lunch entree ($12.95). I asked her about it and SHE SAID IT WAS MY FAULT FOR NOT SPECIFYING THAT I WANTED THE LUNCH ENTREE and had received more food, although she seemed unsure of the difference between the two entree sizes when I asked her. I expressed to her that I assumed because it was around noon that I wanted the lunch entree. No manager was notified of my dissatisfaction. I will NOT be back for lunch but may try dinner since it was insisted I pay the dinner price.

Based upon comments on Digital City, we gave Valentino's a try for dinner, along with our kids. We tried two appetizers; the fried asparagus with lump crabmeat, and the grilled shrimp teasers wrapped in bacon. We found both of them to be delectable and very tasty. For main courses, I had the flounder with stuffed crabmeat dressing, while my son had coconut shrimp, and my girls (my fiancee and my baby girl) shared a ribeye steak. All of our main courses were excellent, although my son found the shrimp to be a little overdone. I also think they need a few more chardonnay wines on their wine list, and a little more waitress help. Our waitress was a doll named Heather. But she was basically waiting on most of the tables by herself. Considering she was covering almost all the tables, she did a really fine job. But she could have used a couple of extra waiters\waitresses for help.
None of us left hungry, and I consider Valentino's to be worthy of trying a few more times, to sample additional items on the menu; especially once oysters are back in season again. In my opinion, I would bump up the serving size of the stuffed flounder and increase the price slightly to accomodate.

Cons: Could use more wait staff help

Would recommend yo stop her anytime that you feel like you want some great tasting seafood, all of us were very satisfied with the portion size for the price. Check out their oysters you will not be disappointed.

Valentino's is one of the best new seafood resterants in the city of houston. I eat out quite often and am very pitucalar about the food and the service of resterants. When i came in to Valentino's we were greated politely with a smile and were seated it wasnt long till a nice waiter came by to get our drinks. We started the night with a nice coctail and an appitizer the Oysters Bennivile its a dozen oysters on the half shell topped off with real crab meat and a light breading on top so when they bring it to you its golden brown. Next we had the Stuffed Flounder and then we had the Crab Cakes wich were exellent the fish was very clean and the sause was light and complemented the fish. The Crab Cakes were lightly tosted on the edges so they were ever so crunchy and they had topped it off very lightly with this chipolte sause that i very much liked i love crabs and i would have to say the meat was very clean for these Crab Cakes very suculent. Thanks Valentino's for the great food and service.

We noticed Valentino's while driving from Galveston on our way home to Houston and decided to give it a try. (Our eyes caught the sign offering oyster specials.) We ordered a dozen oysters which were so delicious and fresh. We order a fish sandwich and the sides were well prepared and tasty. The chef/owner was very friendly and engaged in every aspect of the restaurant. We can not wait to go back to try the other items on the menu. I would go back.

Overall we liked our food, but felt that the restaurant had a lacking in attention to detail. We started with cocktails and calamari. The calamari and the dipping sauce was excellent. One of the best calamari dishes I have tried. The cocktails were very good and generous. My husband had the Crabcakes, and they were very good. I had the Shrimp and Grits, and they were not very good. I love sauces, but this one was overdone. Over-spiced, over onioned, over-bell peppered and just plain overdone. We finished with the bread pudding that was marginal at best.

What bothered me about Valentinos, was the attention to detail. It was expensive, yet they had paper napkins, plastic containers for the sauces in foods, etc. The restaurant was very loud and cold for a date night.

The service was very good.

We noticed Valentino's while driving from Galveston on our way home to Houston and decided the following weekend to go back and give it a try. (Our eyes caught the sign offering oyster specials.) Initially, we were not sure what to expect. We ordered a dozen oysters which were so delicious we ordered a second. Fish sandwiches and po-boys were huge and as fresh as one can get. Sides were well prepared and tasty. My husband and I consider ourselves gourmets and are usually very selective and sometimes critical. In sum, we loved the place! The chef/owner was very friendly and engaged in every aspect of the restaurant. We can not wait to go back to try the other items on the menu. Only about a 30 minute drive from downtown Houston. You will not be disappointed.

Pros: Very fresh seafood, superb food and service.

Cons: Located near Clear Lake/Webster (not in Houston, where we are).

Their crab cakes are the freshest and the best I've ever had. I've lived near the water my whole life, and my family regularly gets fresh live crabs to broil/boil and eat at home - so I definitely know what fresh crab meat should taste like. This is hands-down the freshest and purest crab cakes I've had in any restaurant. And they don't muck it up by putting tons of breading so that you can't taste the crab meat. They even top it with pure hearty chunks of crab meat on top. A previous reviewer who claims it's like canned crab meat has obviously never had it so fresh and is no doubt accustomed to the frozen and/or processed kind. Don't go expecting typical crab cakes that you find in every seafood restaurant. . . these are what they SHOULD taste like.
We also had the CrawfishBalls for the first time today (similar to BoudainBalls) - they were really good and really filling. The cole slaw seems to have an asian hint of soy sauce and is crunchy and fresh. Not typical slaw, but pretty darn good. Quite honestly, you should stick to their crabs, shrimp, and/or oyster dishes. That's the industry that this area is most known for and that's what's freshest at this restaurant. Other dishes like fish, calamari, etc are ok - but I would stick to what they're known for. Sonny was our waiter tonight and did an awesome job - extremely attentive and helpful.

Pros: Good seafood (esp. Crab cakes), plenty of parking, good portions, good service

Cons: Distance from Houston is a little far, drinks aren't so great

I knew from reading the reviews that I would either love it hate it. I love it. The crab cakes were great and so filling that I had one to take home. When I explained that I wanted to take it home, but had an errand to run, the server packed it in ice so it would keep. I wanted to try the bread pudding, but my husband is allergic to nuts and it has pecans. The server recommended the tres leches as an alternative. It was rich and just sweet enough. I will return.

My husband and I have visited Valentino's several times and the food has been great every time. Our waitresses and waiters have always been very attentive and knowledgable about the food. I have tried several different item on the menu and all have been excellent but I keep going back to the crab cakes or fried shrimp. You must try the crab cakes and the fried shrimp, those are by far my two favorites. The crab cakes are so full of blue crab meat that you actually taste crab not just stuffing or fillers like most restraunts. Their shrimp are very meaty with just the right amount of breading so as not to take away from the freshness of the shrimp. Their portions are very generous, I have never been able to finish all of my plate. The atmostphere is very comfortable and inviting, a place you can take family and friends for a great night out. We will definately be going back

My husband and I have visited Valentino's several times and the food has been great every time. Our waitresses and waiters have always been very attentive and knowledgable about the food. Well im here to tell you that what most people have been saying about Valentinos seafood is all true. The Crab Cakes are the best and I think I know what great Crab taste like and that is fresh Crab at its best. I saw the reveiw in the newpaper and there food is even better than what Allison wrote about. I love there fried Shrimp and they are a small restaurant that is going to make it big. If they keep there food just like it is im sure that this place will do great. My wife and I have been looking for a place like this for a while and we will be back for more.

Pros: The Best Crab Cakes and Shrimp in the area hands down

Cons: noise

.

My son & I decided to try Valentino's after the host had really raved on their shrimp and crab cakes when we stuck out heads in to take a look. We were there yesterday around 5pm. Were only 3 tables in use. We both ordered the crab cakes and sides--I got wild rice and asparagus, he got coleslaw and hushpuppies. The crab cakes appear to have a lot of crabmeat in them, however, it was very blah and tasted less than fresh. It very much had the 'canny' taste of that cheap canned crab you can get at the 99cent store or Dollar Tree. Granted they gave you an entire can worth, but it was inedible. My son ate less than 1/2 and I only had 2 bites--it was VERY BAD. The rice was good however, but the asparagus was not properly cooked. I noted on leaving another lady had the asparagus but also did not eat it. The slaw has a whole mess of different things in it and should be called by some other name as my son was expecting a more traditional slaw--at the very least in consideraion of those with allergies they should note the ingredients on the menu. The hushpuppies were also blah and my son only took 2 small bites. For $18.95 a plate this is NOT a good deal. Neither of us even ate 1/2 of the meal. Our waiter got the drink orders wrogn and was very indifferent in general. We love to try new places, but when they are like this one, the first visit is also the LAST.

My husband and I went here at the recommendation of a friend. We went on a Saturday evening, around 8:00. The restaurant was not too busy, but decently full. We did not have to wait for a table. The first thing I noticed was the noise, the dining room is rather "echo-y", with nothing to buffer conversations. It might have been that we were in a corner kind of walled in, next to a loud table. Our waiter was prompt, but knew nothing about the wine list, as he didn't drink wine. Okay, no problem, I selected a nice pinot grigio "Pepi 2005 California". We ordered the calimari appetizer. It was good; crispy but tender strips of calimari with a pineapple ginger dipping sauce. For my entree I ordered the crabcakes with asparagus and garlic toast sides. My husband ordered the seafood enchiladas, but they were out, so instead he got the crawfish pie. The crabcakes were amazing, all crab, just a little breading on the top and bottom seared to crispness. Very, very delicious. The fresh asparagus was delicious as well, with a hint of smoky flavor, lightly seasoned with sea salt. Excellent. The crawfish pie was good, covered with puff pastry, but I think my husband had his heart set on the enchiladas, which must have been good since they ran out. For dessert we had the bread pudding, very rich, but nice.

All in all, I wouldn't say this place is exactly romantic and the owners might want to see if they can't buffer the noise, but it won't stop us from going back. Great food, good prices.

I grew up eating seafood my whole life that was fresh and I have never been out to eat seafood that I could really taste that was fresh. I started out with the stuffed peppers and they made there peppers with the whole pepper that was very fresh and you could really taste the pepper and not just stuffing. I later had the fried seafood everything was so fresh as if it just came off the boat. I also loved that everything was a good size. The food also had spice to it where most places seem to never use any spice. I think if you are a seafood lover and love fresh seafood as I do I would go to Valentino's Seafood.

Pros: great real seafood

Cons: service could be a little better

I wanted to take my mother to a nice seafood restaurant. Valentino's was high recommended to me. I enjoyed the stuffed flounder. It was the best sea food I had ever had. It is a very nice and clean restaurant with great customer service. I did not try the bar next timeI will have to have a nice drink after work.

Pros: stuffed flounder (food)

Cons: None great restaurant

.

All of their food is way underseasoned causing the food to have little to no flavor. Their "famous" crabcakes are bland and they attempt to make up for this by dousing them in a salty lemon butter sauce. Their gumbo tastes like it is made with water and not good stock. The service was mediocre. The only positive to our dining experience was the amazing bartender and cocktails. Best mojito I have had in a long time and the St. Basil Martini was excellent and refreshing.

i tried to post before and it didn't go through so if this is a repeat i'm sorry. anyway, we drove by valentino's one day and decided to try it. Our server was great. He was very attentive and congenial. The food was the worst food I have ever had in and out of a restaurant. it was bland and overcooked. The fish was as hard as a rock, the rice was not cooked, the crab was full of shell and the sauteed vegetables had a weird rub or something on them that gave them a grainy texture but still no flavor. the green beans were good though. Out of the five people at our table, 0 liked their meal. The hardest part was swallowing the food and not spitting it out. I would never recommend this place to anyone, EVER. Do yourself, your friends, and your family a favor and eat somewhere else.

I patronize Valentino's at least once a week, and always run into friends and other patrons I've met before! The food is awesome; the shrimp dip to start is wonderful! The staff is always sooooo friendly and we've met the owner several times over as he is always friendly to come over over to say "Hi, how are ya!". The crab dish is to die for...and the asparagus are HUGE and tasty! Everything is fresh and well presented! I love to come for lunch or dinner because its' just a neat local place that has a lot of class! I tell everyone what a great place this is and I bring friends' and family every chance I get! Hope to see you there soon!

When Valentino's first opened a few months ago, we thought we would give it a try ? after seeing the outside sign - oysters $1.99. We were pleasantly surprised with great food. The oysters were very fresh and the fish sandwich was deliciously tasty (i.e. no fishy taste). We enjoyed the meal so much we returned a second time that same week to try other dishes. My favorite from their oyster selection are the oysters Bienville! Oysters on the half shell with a creamy sauce on top. If you can handle "spicy", try the oysters Texicana ? oysters on the half shell with cheddar cheese and roasted salsa ? ?que sabroso?! On our third visit, we tried the fried seafood platter and the crab cakes. All I can say is "delish"! The crabcakes are one of the best I've ever tasted.

Once you are done with dinner, save room for desert, and try the bread pudding. I have to say it is the BEST! My wife wasn?t a bread pudding fan until she tried the one at Valentino?s. (The Chef, "Devin" does a great job presenting his desert dishes.)

In terms of service, they aim to please. The staff are very courteous and friendly and chef "Devin?, time permitting, may even spend time with you discussing his new dishes! The owner, Mark, has come to our table on at least 4 of our visits to make sure the food and service are great.

And finally if the need arises (even if it doesn't) check out the bathrooms! These guys must have spent a mint on the decor - the Blue Pearl Granite countertops (throughout the restaurant) are just gorgeous. Whoever did the decorating did an outstanding job with the mosaics and color scheme! It is a pleasant place to eat!

Pros: Fresh food, Happy Hour, Plenty of close parking, very close to movie theaters

Cons: none discovered yet

This new restaurant is your next favorite secret eating place. The food is excellent, service has really polished up since opening and this diamond in the rough has taken a shine that will draw you back again and again like a moth to a flame! The food is incredible, everything from the luscious crab cakes( no bread!!) to the fresh shrimp and oysters is prepared fresh daily and with loving attention to detail. After speaking with the chefs and staff, I was pleasently suprised to find that all their recommendations were spot on! You will not be disappointed when you eat at Valentinos! I will be back and i am spreading the word! Valentinos seafood is the best!

went there on 01/05/07 with coworkers based on a recommendation. on this particular night it was not busy. it took and hour to get food and drinks!! this including just a glass of water. apparently, our server had some sort of panic attack and failed to place our orders. some in my party ordered appetizers. an hour to get regular oysters on the halfshell!?!? i don't care if it was $1.95/1 dozen!! the owner and executive chef kept apologizing and when our orders were finally prepared, food arrived to the table cold or overdone! we all received our food at different times! no consistency whatsoever!! our food was ultimately comped at the request of the owner. needless to say, i will not be returning.

Valentino's is unique to the Clear Lake area. The decor makes you feel like you are near the water and the service is excellent! As for the food, I ordered the fried calamari expecting the small round pieces with red sauce you would normally get. I was pleasently surprised when I recieved large strips of calamari and a pineapple ginger sauce. It's great to share, too! For my entree, I always look for someting healthy, so I chose the cobb salad with boiled shrimp. The shrimp was fresh and the homemade blue cheese dressing topped it off perfectly. Overall, I would recommend this resteraunt to anyone who loves fresh, good quatlity food.

Valentino's is by far the best in town. With fresh fish of the day, and an infusion of flavors to melt the pallet who could ask for anything more. Wow, who was the designer. The decor is uniquely modern and goes hand and hand with the theme of the restaurant . Good luck to you Valentino's and you have a customer forever.

Great food that is just to die for. Very nice decor. Love the shrimp and the Crab cake is the best I have ever had. They always try to make everyone happy. There food is always the best we have ever had. If you were ever not pleased with the food they would make you happy before you left. We have always been very pleased with the service and food that we get at Valentinos. We hope they do good as we need more restaurants live this in the area.
