Myo Massage is the perfect blend of all that a massage experience can be. Sessions are tailored to your preferences of music, lotion, pressure and type of massage. The rooms are dim, clean, well appointed for the needs of therapist and customer, and the price more than competes with other day spas. My masseur, Deborah, was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. A wonderful experience. I can harly wait for next time. Highly recommended.
I highly recommend Myo Massage in general and Gina in particular. With Gina's highly skilled deep tissue/sports massages chronic pain in my hips disappeared. She also corrected IT band syndrome and realigned my feet. WOW!!! All that in about 6 massages!
I have only had highly professional and relaxed experiences at Myo. I primarily went to Gina, but in a pinch I once saw Jacqueline who was just as excellent.
Myo totally converted me from a skeptic of massage as a route to healing into a believer.
I usually see the same person for massages and have been happy, but when I wanted to squeeze in a massage and had to book with another massage therapist, my experience was not as good. This therapist was not really rude, but really didn't make an effort to be warm and inviting. At the end of the massage she just left without indicating this was the end of the session or say good bye or thank you for coming and she wasn't waiting outside for me either. I didn't see her after that. I regret the tip I left! A few days later I saw lots of bruising on my hips and legs, which I guess can happen with deep tissue massage, but that's never happened to me before and I've had other deep tissue massages. I did call to complain but was given a $15 credit for another massage, which now that I think about it is nothing. I wish I could have gotten my money back. I save up for occasional massages and felt like this was a waste. I won't be back.
Pros: central location, clean quiet rooms
Cons: expensive, quality of massage depends on who you get!
I have been to Myo several times over the last two years and can confidently say that their staff of therapists is top notch. I'm always met with a kind, knowledgeable intake.
The rooms are extremely comfortable and the music is great; I love that I can relax to The Beatles or Iron & Wine instead of listening to wales mating.
I have never left without the feeling that my therapist must have a doctorate in magic. They have expert knowledge in lymph nodes (I'm convinced they've successfully been able to ward off the flu more than once), skeletal structure (I'll never go to a chiropractor again! I have poor posture from computer work, and the therapists at Myo have ninja skills when it comes to straightening me up.), and the muscular system (I have poor flexibility, and the therapist was able to tell me without question which of my muscles were tight, and work them out so that I'm as flexible after a massage as I am after an hour of Bikram yoga :) just to name a few.
I'm sure they have many more skills that I have yet to experience, and I always look forward to my next visit. Booking appointments is easy, and the reception always provides exceptional customer service. (I've purchased massage oils there too, which are fantastic.) I drive all the way from Round Rock and I highly recommend them!
Pros: great customer service, extraordinary therapists
AMAZING massage! I admit I'm a bit of a massage "junky"..I even enjoy the $12 dollar massage at the mall and who doesen't enjoy the massage chairs at the outlet malls? MYO was on a different level..I have never had a theraputic massage like the "myo" it was great. I still feel great weekes after.
*nice and cozy rooms..great super friendly staff..and tons of parking in the garage.
Pros: Great staff..awesome massage
Deborah Marasco is the best massage therapist I have ever had. I've had many massages from several different people, and she is by far the best. She knows what she is doing and always listens to you and where you need help. Debbie is amazing and I truly recommend her to everyone!
Pros: Best massage I've ever had.
My boyfriend and I went to Myo after reading the great reviews online. There isn't anything fancy about this business, but if you are only concerned with getting a good massage it's a great place to go. I got a good swedish massage but still have two complaints- My therapist didn't address my TMJ, as others have in the past, and the massage bed was quite squeaky, so it was extremely hard for me to just listen to the music and relax. My boyfriend had a combination of reflexology and structural bodywork and raved about his experience.
Pros: competitive price, accessible location
Cons: lacking the usual spa amenities
A few years ago I was having serious pain in my arms and hands from too much typing, and after having little or no success with acupuncture, I decided to try massage. A friend referred me to Adelyn, and she worked wonders! The massages helped undo the damage caused by the keyboard, and she also counseled me on how to improve my work habits and avoid further damage. Eventually we got things under control and I was able to stop going. I've been happy and pain-free ever since, and I can't thank Adelyn enough. I have recommended her to some of my closest friends, and would again.
MYO was a great massage experience! They asked for information on the type massage you are after, and delivered. The atmosphere is tasteful and quiet, the music choices are individual for your massage, and the facility is clean. Parking is right in front. There are showers for your use, but no steam room or sauna that is provided... bummer - that's why they didn't get a 5 star from me.
I have visited Myo Massage maybe four times now, each time with a different therapist and each time a great experience. The atmosphere is unpretentious, which I appreciate. Fancy day spas make me feel like I am supposed to be wealthy to enjoy the benefits of massage therapy. I enjoy massage because it feels good and also because of what I perceive as the noticeable health benefits. Myo provides a very calming environment without all the hype of over priced day spas. But what's more is every therapist I have worked with has been excellent. They listen carefully to what I am looking for that day, whether it is general stress relief, to work on a crick in my neck, or recurring pain in my upper back, and tailor the massage to my needs.
I tend to prefer swedish style massage. At Myo they follow this preference, but also work in other innovative techniques - that I don't have the expertise to name - to cater to my specific physical needs. I always feel like I am in good hands at Myo.
Pros: excellent massage, calming atmosphere
Cons: I can't think of any.
I went to try Myo because of the reviews, and I was pleased. I typically go to a day spa, but it has a high turnover rate due to its prices, and I get tired of always having to switch therapists. Myo was not what I was expecting. It does not aim for the posh, indulgent atmosphere of a day spa, which I kind of missed. Like they say, it is more of a bodywork center. There are no fancy locker rooms, etc., or people wandering all about in robes, like I am used to. You undress/change in the room where you receive the massage, before the therapist enters. One of the cool things, though, is the opportunity to select your own music during treatment. It may sound like a small thing, but I thought it was really neat, particuarly since ocean waves and new age music don't really relax me. I had a 90 min. massage with Gina to address some tightness in my shoulder and knee from playing tennis. It was not a simple massage, but rather a very therapeutic form of treatment - she really focused on the problem areas, instead of just giving them 10 minutes and moving on. It was sometimes painful, but necessary. Gina was very nice and stayed in communication with me throughout. She explained the problems she was finding, what she was doing to alleviate them, and why. I also liked that she was open to small talk, like when I'm at the barber or something. At the day spa I used to go to, it often seems like they don't want you to ever speak during the massage unless you're in dire pain. To summarize, if you want the resort-style facilites of a day spa (nothing wrong with that), Myo may not be what you're looking for; but if you really want to feel where your money went after the massage is done, I highly recommend Myo's bodywork for quality and results.
Pros: Treatment Quality
Cons: Prefer More of a Spa Atmosphere
I got a massage here based on all the GREAT reviews I read on here. Unfortunately, unless the rest of you are getting some kind of "happy ending" that your not talking about, this place is not even good-- it's so/so. It could of just been the masseuse I got, can't remember her name, but it was seriously a waste of time AND money! I'm convinced now that they must have the front desk girl writing in amazing, perfect reviews to generate more business, who knows...
Pros: pretty website
It is great to find folks that are intuitive and skilled. Catherine & Levi's efforts have made a major positive difference in my wife's and my well being. The other staff members I have dealt with are also knowledgeable and dedicated. Both locations are clean, calming, and generate a healing atmosphere. Their techniques change from session to session as our bodies heal and reinvigorate reflecting their knowledge of the healing processs and their wide ranging skills. Their highly professional interview and the records they maintain of your treatment are confidence builders as well. This is the place to run to for a tune up or to attack a chronic issue.
Pros: Great treatment, highly skilled staff
Cons: Habit forming
We just came back from an 90 minute couples massage at Myo's new location and was impressed. We walked in and were pleasantly greeted and offered some water. The room had a good energy, relaxing music, and the massage therapists were Great. Gina was my massage therapist and would highly recommended her. She did a fantastic job and I left there feeling completly relaxed and refreshed.
5 star business and a 5 star massage!
Pros: Great massage, clean, friendly,
I love Myo! The best massages - ever! Yes, if you go to a few other places in town they might have silly frills, but if you want a great massage at a great price myo is the place to go.
My boyfriend is really weird about massages and that sort of thing and Myo is the only place he will go! We LOVE IT!
Pros: Easy scheduling, friendly staff, excellent massage
Cons: smaller rooms, no frills if you're into that sort of thing
Due to all the good reviews, I thought I'd try this place out while my regular day spa is closed for remodeling. I was very disappointed. The massage room was way too cold, and stayed that way even after I mentioned it. The massage, in contrast, was lukewarm at best. I'd say it's a contender for the worst massage I've ever had, and I've had lots. I wonder if all the other posters are friends of the owners.
I will not go back.
Cons: Room Cold, Massage Bad
I've been getting a massage every other month or so for years now. I just moved into Austin so I had to find a new place to go, and I am SO glad I found Myo. My boyfriend and I got a couple's massage a week or so ago with Catherine and Levi, and they were awesome. Levi was my therapist that time, but I also had the pleasure of experiencing Catherine's technique today when I just had to go back in for another massage after a hellish week of work. Levi's customized Myo massage was greatly therapeutic, and Catherine's swedish massage was sooo relaxing and intuitive. Even though it was only 30 minutes, she got every part of my body very thoroughly. They are half the price as some places, and at $35 I can afford to get a 30 minute swedish massage every week... which is great considering I'm a baker and work wreaks havoc on my body.
I called Myo at the last minute to get a certificate for my boyfriend's birthday, and they emailed it to me right on the spot! We called the next day at noon, Meredith & Levi got us in the same day and it was absolutely the best massage either of us ever had. I'll never go to the cheap local massage clinic again. Myo's staff is very friendly, they provide great service and the therapists can't be beat!!!
Pros: Therapists, Customer Service
Cons: Prices are higher than clinics, but massages are definately worth the $
I've had many massages at many spas in town and no one has helped my back as much as Gina has. I have had back trouble for years, been to a chiropractor and physical therapy, but 3 sessions with Gina and I was cured! And it didn't cost an arm and a leg! She knows her stuff and gives you streches and exercises to help strenthen your area of pain.
Pros: parking, availbility, ambience
I have been getting massages at Myo for almost a year. I originally went because of a back injury, but continue to go because I have found the structural bodywork has been very beneficial to improving my flexibility, range of motion and physical comfort. Levi is an exceptional therapist. He has been able to almost completely eliminate pain and recover mobility in my hand that had developed over many years of doing needlework. No doctor had ever been able to do anything other than prescribe painkillers! Levi has been able to help me address other areas like hip tightness and shoulder overuse. I really like it that he explains physically what is going on and how he can help me. He has even shown me stretches I can do between sessions to continue the work. And I should add he is also very capable of giving a very relaxing, indulgent "spa massage" on those times when I just want some pampering! Myo is the place to go if you want a personalized massage for whatever your needs may be.
Pros: knowledgeable and skilled staff, pleasant environment, effective treatment and great rates
When I first setup my appointment the receptionist at the front desk overwhelmed me (at first) with the different types of massages they offered. But I was impressed-- He was very good at explaining the differences and went into great detail for me. He asked me what I was looking for and recommended I get a deep tissue massage.
Upon arriving, I was welcomed to a clean, modern style lobby. Looked promising! The staff was really friendly and accommodating. I got there a little early and was seen as soon as I filled out the paperwork. I met my massage therapist, Gina and she was really friendly and I knew I'd be in good hands. I thought it was cool she asked me what music I wanted to listen to. I chose classical of course, I play trumpet.
The massage rocked! Right from the start I was in heaven. I've had my share of massages before, but none like this! She asked me what areas I was having the most trouble with and she did what most therapists don't do -- She worked it til it was all better! I can only afford to get a massage if a real bad knot bothers me for a while. Usually with other therapists they would work the area for maybe 10 minutes and move on to a full body massage. Which isn't bad, but I really loved how Gina worked it all the way til it's death! Awesome job! I badly wanted to do a follow up the week after just to have her smooth out the rest (we ran out of time), but I'm broke and live in Georgetown. I came all the way downtown because Myo had good recommendations on CS. I gotta tell you, it was worth every penny!
Thank you Gina! I'll be back!
Pros: Clean, knowledgeable staff, great value, great therapist, good vibes
Cons: Not in Georgetown =$
Adelyn Botto has been my massage therapist for 5 years now .... well before she arrived at Myo. The best thing about Adelyn is she knows exactly what needs to be done and where - even more than I do. Her massages have always been very tailored for what is going on with my body at that moment. She checks in but doesn't need to as her pressure is always perfect. Myo itself is a cute, nicely decorated little place - very comfortable and relaxing from the moment you walk in. The entire building stands out in the neighborhood as it is Industrial Art meets Feng Shui (especially the beautiful courtyard), and the things around it have yet to catch up.
Pros: No fluff - all thorough massage.
Cons: Makes me want to go every day.
Myo Massage is outstanding. I have been seeing Shelly Smith, and she is just wonderful. She has really resolved some chronic stiffness and pain from a job that often requires me to sit in front of a computer. She does an excellent job on my neck and back, and although I was leery of an abdominal massage hers was fantastic, and same goes for reflexology on the feet. I highly recommend her. Myo is also very reasonably priced. Added bonus: She also gives you great stretches and exercises to do between massages, and they are very flexible about time of appointments.
Pros: Shelly Smith, Great Atmosphere & Massages
I've had several deep tissue massages, and Adelyn really knew how to work (she even used techniques no one else had ever tried before). I also tried cranial sacral massage because of problems with TMJ. It was my first time, and the next day, there was no tightness or soreness at all! It was fantastic!! Thanks, Adelyn.
Last week I had my very first massage. I didn't know what to expect but Catherine at Myo Massage made my visit better than I had ever expected. She made me very comfortable and informed me of the reasons she was doing specific techniques and the benefits of each. I felt refreshed and had a new appreciation for massage and ended up scheduling another appointment for this week!
Pros: Great Location, Affordable, Calming Environment, Variety of Services
Catherine's deep tissue massages are the best massages I've ever had. Her work on tight shoulder and neck muscles has made a huge difference, and she has solved my chronic low back pain. My husband agrees 100%. We're very glad Myo Massage has come into our lives. I recommend them to everyone.
I have had numerous neurological, pain, and stress related issues over the years including bad knees, bad ankles, chronic back pain, chronic neck pain and being unable to sleep to name but a few. I have been to many of the "best" massage therapists in Austin, but MYO is certainly at the top. I have never seen the numerous techniques that MYO Massage have brought together under one roof including deep tissue, reflexology, craniosacral, and lymphatic drainage. With their help I have been able to alleviate many of my chronic pains. Beyond that, the new spa is clean, spacious, well designed and immaculate. Additionally, they are often able to squeeze me in for late appointments. What more can be said other than MYO Massage and the staff are at the top of my list for a great massage.
Pros: Clean, friendly, knowledgable
Cons: I can't afford to go more often
Update April 08:
For a weekend conference, I arranged for four out of town colleagues to visit Myo. Each of them put this at the top of their massage experiences, including spas in Houston and Dallas. You can't do better than a Myo massage.
[First review] Massage has not been a favorite of mine: although relaxing, little changed for the better physically - That is until Myo Massage . . . First time visit was theraputic and enjoyable, with substantial improvement just from first session. I will be returning and encourage others to try them for serious massage . . .
Pros: Very attentive - both at the desk and in the massage
Catherine and Levi are now located in Saltillo Lofts, close to downtown in a well designed space. Enter to a reception/massage chair area arranged with attention to detail. The treatment rooms encourage total relaxation. And then come the proferssionals. Catherine does a comprehensive intake evaluation and then gets to work. She evaluates my posture and gait to determine how best to relieve the pain in my knees and hip. Her patient and encouraging care has greatly improved the strength and range of motion in my chronic and acutely painful shoulder. Her lymphatic drainage work gently eases the inflammation.
Levi and Catherine have strong hands and a confident touch. With your input they will work out a plan which includes body and structural work. They will find soreness you did not know you had in a total body massage if that is what you came in for, and you will leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. You will quickly realize that you are being treated by committed, friendly, intelligent, professionally trained and experienced massage therapists when you come to MYO Massage, and you will return often. Go to see them soon!
Pros: MYO Massage is open daily, even for walk-ins! The best therapists in Austin
i love the professional, friendliness of Levi ....and his ability to listen to my needs for the massage i need that day. Very competent and friendly to boot!
I don't take my clothes off for just anyone! Catherine made me feel very comfortable. She listens so well, and takes my whole health into consideration before begining. Once she felt my shoulders she asked if I was in a hurry, because I had so much tension she felt we needed a little more time to really do it right. I really appreciate her willingness to treat everyone as the individuals we are. Each massage is different because each person is different day to day.
Thanks so much Myo! You are a lifesaver.
Pros: clean and considerate
I was given the gift of a MYO Massage. It was fabulous! I was greeted warmly and, after a short questionnaire and interview with my therapist, was treated to the best massage I've ever had. A wonderful and relaxing experience. I only wish I lived closer!!
Pros: Definite thumbs up!
Cons: Parking seemed limited, but I wasn't driving!
I bought my girlfriend and I a couples massage for her birthday. Just walking in started the relaxation; it's a beautiful, clean, professional space, and we got to be in the same room with two exceptional therapists. (Which I loved- being able to hear her sigh with contentment was the best present for me!) I had some aromatherapy which put me in a great mind space, and my massage was super relaxing. My girlfriend had some shoulder problems which Catherine did wonders on, and she said it was the best massage she's ever had! Thanks so much for making our day!
Pros: Therapeutic massage, Location, Music selection
I have always enjoyed a good massage, but have never enjoyed it so much or felt so comfortable that I felt like making it a part of my weekly routine..but now I do! I really look foward to my appointments at MYO massage, and I feel healthier when I leave! I definitly recommend MYO massage- great therapist and a lovely, relaxing atmosphere, not to mention a huge selection of music to choose from during your massage.. Actually, I have an appointment in 8 hours and 9 minutes! I can't wait..
I've been a loyal customer of Myo's owner Catherine Collett for several years now. She has wonderful hands and a serenity that puts me completely at ease. Don't hesitate to put yourself in her very capable hands for an hour or two on a regular basis. It's really made a difference for me.
The folks at Myo get it. The studio is quiet and serene without screaming EXPENSIVE. The level of expertise extends way beyond "relax me" and "my leg hurts" and the sessions are actually affordable on a working person's budget.
I come to Austin once a year for SXSW and always drop by Myo for a massage. It's the perfect end to a crazy week. I've been begging them since they opened to launch Myo San Francisco, but until then, they are a gift to Austin and those of us who call it home each market. Enjoy it.
I have been going to a therapist at Myo Massage for a couple of years. I can say with sincerity that this is the best massage I have ever had. The best part is her ability to offer different types of massages or her ability to focus on different trouble areas with unique techniques. If I need a deep, penetrating massage...no problem...if I need a more general relaxing massage...no problem. The therapists listen and react to your communication. Great people that care about making sure you receive the type of massage that you want.
Pros: Ability to offer different types of massage.
Cons: Absolutely none.
My boyfriend and I both work 14 hour days at least a few days a week, both very physical jobs. I wanted to treat us both to a much needed and very indulgent romantic day. I booked a couples Valentine's Day package with Catherine and Levi after doing some investigating of other spas in town. We walked in, were greeted warmly and ushered into a beautifully decorated and very hip little east side space. Nothing though, prepared me for the sublime nature of our experience. These people are magic. My pain melted. I have had many massages and I can safely say I have not enjoyed one more. It's been two days and I still feel fantastic.
My boyfriend was floored by the roses, candles, champagne and fruit they had ready for us in a private room afterwards. Oh, and he's still giving me thankful kisses too... Thank YOU Catherine and Levi!
Pros: Staff !!!
Cons: I don't live upstairs
I am a lowly courier in Austin and I spend 70 hours plus driving in Austin Traffic every day . If you are from here, you know what kind of pressure that can place on a body . I was in such pain in my legs and back and shoulders when I started looking for a good Massage Therapist that any price did not matter, Just getting free from the cramps and all was my only concern. I first met Catherine at a Texas Rollerderby match over on 51st St. last yr and was so taken by a 15 minute massage in a chair that I knew she had the skill and stregth in her hands that was what I was looking for. Guys.. its better than being married !! I am now back on a twice a month regimen that leaves me pain and cramp free and I can relax after my longest drive on Sunday of 12 hours straight and be fit and ready to go on monday for another 2 weeks. I cannot find adequate words to express so will simply say you will be glad you trusted Catherine and Levi with yor health. It is the best money I have spent, and I know you will agree. minister_of_justice .
Pros: fantastic location and beautiful new building ,easy to get to from any where..
Cons: I almost miss the old location , however, it was not as close to everything as this one is..
I have cronic neck pain due to compressed disks. Catherine is the first massage therapist who was effective in treating it. Not only is each massage slightly different depending on what needs work, but she is always doing continuing education and learning new techniques to provide the best possible service. I highly recommend her, she is professional, knowledgeable, and very strong.
Pros: Effective pain relief
Cons: None really.
I had the opportunity to get a massage from Catherine. I'm not big into massage, or get them regularly, but her massages really make you feel better. I have this chronic nerve shenanigans with my arms and wrists, and she managed to find out that it all relates to something in my back. After getting a back massage, my arms felt way better than they ever have. Most doctors I have gone to for this said the problem stemmed from my elbow area, and I have never had the tingling affected by anything near my elbows. I highly recommend Myo Massage to anyone with sore backs, or necks, and possible tingling in their arms (though your issues might differ from mine). Great service, and wonderful people!
Pros: Great service for the price.
Cons: None really....other than I live in north Austin, and the service is south.
Catherine has studied the healing traditions of numerous cultures, as well as having studied western medicine so she is well educated. She never stops learning & training & improving & brings all of her vast skill & knowledge to the table, so to speak.
I have chronic back problems & so have been to many massage therapists & before Catherine, was never terribly impressed with massage. I thought it was a nice thing to do when you could afford it. After my first visit to Catherine I realized that massage can actually heal, can really improve your health & quality of life.
I have now been using Catherine's extraordinary services for years & recommend her to everyone I know. I also know that anyone she & Levi hire to work at Myo will be extremely talented so you can trust anyone there to provide you with a wonderful experience, whether you just want to relax or whether you need targeted care for a specific problem. Go see them!
This is a fantastic place. The location is perfect (just a few blocks from downtown), reception and patient rooms are both calming and tasteful and the staff is knowledgable and incredibly skilled. I recently went in after a long, stressful week; my neck, back and head were knotted and miserable. Catherine was able to get me in at the last minute when she heard how much pain I was in, fortunately, and proceeded to give me one of the best deep tissue treatments I've ever experienced. I practically had to be scooped up and rolled out of there, I was so relaxed. The care I received and the genuine concern for my happiness and comfort are only two of the reasons I'll be returning as often as possible. If you're in any discomfort, go to Myo. If you're stopping over in town and want a wonderful experience, go to Myo. If you'd like to set up a regular weekly/monthly/whenever massage, I highly recommend Myo.
Pros: Great location, highly skilled staff
Cons: I only have one back for them to work on!
As someone with chronic back problems, I've been using massage consistently for over 5 years. I've met some great, caring people, and have learned that every therapist worthy of the name is also uniquely gifted...there are very few bad massages given. However, some therapists stand head and shoulders above the rest, and Levi's one of those guys (I think he stands head and shoulders above me, but that's another story). Levi is thoughtful, skillful, considerate and thorough. He is a gentle man and a gentleman, but as a therapist, he can be relentless. When you want a massage where your body can really tell the difference, where you leave standing taller and more energetic, really feeling better and on top of your game, give Myo Massage a call. It's a really nice facility, very convenient to downtown.
Pros: close to downtown, nice new space
My experience with massage is getting better and better. The more I go, the better it makes me feel. All I ask for is the AH ! one. This is the massage that Levi gives me when I go see him because it makes my whole body go AH !. Now after a stressful day at the office, it's a wonderful feeling to know that Myo is just a step away and Levi is ready to give me the AH ! treatment.
As a client of Catherine's solo practice, it is great to see an expansion of the types of bodywork services available through her new storefront. Strong hands and a great healing ability are rare these days with so many getting into the biz. Catherine is 10/10 in my book. One of the two best massage therapists I have had in 20+ years here in Austin. She is able to adapt lots of different body work techniques in a single session appropriate to the specific area that needs work. The cumulative result over time is exactly what one should expect from someone that is very talented. Highly recommended.
Pros: Strength, knowledge of techniques, location
The two massage therapists at Myo, Levi and Catherine, are committed to their work and take massage very seriously. I have received great benefit from getting massages from Catherine and am impressed with her strength and continued learning in multiple forms of massage. Not only is she intelligent, she has a wonderful touch which lends itself to the perfect combination for an excellent massage. I have received massages from many people and places, and Myo ranks up there in my opinion. Go check them out, you won't be disappointed.
Pros: easy parking, relaxing environment
