After many failed attempts at finding a new stylist, I finally found Shanna due to her great reviews and because she specializes in curly hair. Well what do you know, but Shanna informed me that I have wavy and not curly hair (no wonder all those products weren't working).\r
Shanna did a fabulous job - cut, color, and style! She also took the time to explain what she was doing and why, and gave me great instructions on how to create my new style at home. I couldn't stop looking at my hair in my rearview mirror all the way home. Thank you Shanna - it's so nice to love my hair again!!!

For the past year I have been to more than 3 people trying to find someone as good as my old stylist.. 4th times a charm.. Shanna did a amazing job! Shanna is amazing with color and extensions. She repaired my brassy color mistake and gave me a beautiful color so close to my natural color. She also took out a BAD set of extensions from another stylist and advised me on the correct color and number of extensions to put in. Best of all, she is honest and fast! She removed all my extensions and did hair color in under 3 hours!!! I now have a new stylist!! I can't say enough good things about her.

Shanna does amazing hair! My last hairstylist butchered my long and naturally curly hair and Shanna has put it back together to make it look beautiful again. The keratin protein treatment was wonderful for repairing my frizzy, curly hair, along with a lovely trim which took care of the split ends and framed my face. The protein treatment straightened my hair as a side effect, which makes it much easier to handle, and has significantly cut down on the time it takes to dry. The black color didn't make my shower turn colors and covered the emerging gray. Shanna can make a head of unruly natural curls and fading color look beautiful and manageable. I can honestly say that this is the best hair I've ever had.\r

I moved to Austin in March 2011 and ventured to a salon in April (which shall remain unnamed, but it's located on South Congress and is very flashy, and is next to a yogurt shop). After they butchered my hair (literally, the bangs were so thick and messed up I looked like I had a glorified mullet!), I searched around for a new hairstylist and asked friends for recommendations.

Why I didn't do that in the first place is beyond me - I could've gone straight to Shanna and avoided the mullet!

She quickly went to work fixing the old cut, and giving my locks a new life. In the process she mentioned to me that while I thought my hair was wavy, it was actually curly - and showed me ways I could work the natural curl to have multiple hairstyles: straight (with a flat iron), wavy with a dryer, curly with a defuser, etc.

The cut she gave me not only brings out my natural curl, it looks AMAZING when straightened.

I have been going to Shanna for about 4 years. She gives me a great haircut and the color is wonderful. It is like what my natural color use to be before that evil gray took over. I would recommend her to anyone that wants a really good haircut and a great color.

I recently move to Austin from Indiana and I found Shanna here and liked her reviews. And I review alot of hair stylist's before I chose Shanna. I would highly recommend her for color and cut. I have been going to her for over two years and have never researched another stylist since I been here. I recieve alot of compliments on my hair, for the color, shine and style.

The brown color on the box turned out black on my hair. Not good. So not good in fact, that even my husband was hard put to compliment it and he is always the most gracious person. Shanna had such good reviews on CitySearch that I asked her if she could help me out. She worked her magic and now I am the dark chocolate brown that I want. If it's hair and it's broke, Shanna can fix it.

I love my new short spring haircut from Shanna. She cut it as short as I asked, which I really appreciated. And I LOVE the blond highlights she gave me! They look very natural. She used two tones of blond and they are perfect and really lighten up my look. Definitely recommend a visit to Shanna.

Yesterday, I took a break from work and stopped by Lush Life Salon and talked to Shanna about chopping off my hair. When it was time to find a new hair stylist, I went searching on the internet. I read Shannas reviews & I was hopeful that maybe this time I would find a person who could see spirit over age. Shanna has been highlighting & cutting my hair now for about 8 or 9 months. The cut is great & I love the color. Each visit, I have a tweak here or there and she always addresses whatever my request is and finds a solution to incorporate into my cut or color and lifestyle. (FYI - my hair is thick with wavy/natural curl & Im 50+) I can leave Shannas Salon and feel good about how I look when I walk out the door. Thats something I havent been able to say in years. Simply the best haircut I have ever gotten! When I left, I was smiling and after I washed and styled my own hair at home (which means I have wavy hair that I don't do much with) it laid so well on it's own that I wanted to drive all the way back to Shanna and hug her. Shanna is great and really knows how to cut curly hair. Always had to fight with my short curly hair -- now it looks great even if i let it air dry! I'm very new to Lush Life but think i found a home!

I have been to Shanna many times for color and cut. I am normally hesistant to recommend anything to anyone for fear they will have a bad experience with something that I recommended. Not this time! I got hair extensions and color done about a week ago with Shanna. I have only been to a salon ONCE in my entire life, and I was really nervous about going and especially about hair extensions. The consultation was great, and it helped me feel better about my decision to get hair extensions. I only had about a week left in town before I went back home for the summer and Shanna was so great about finding a time to fit me in!! She ended up coming in at SEVEN am on a saturday morning just to do my hair! She colored my hair to match the hair extensions EXACTLY. So far, no one has even noticed that I have hair extensions! They just think my hair grew really fast and became way more healthy! ;) But I do let everyone know I have hair extensions because they look so great, I am definitely not ashamed! I think I may actually go to salons from now on instead of having my mom cut my hair.... :)
PS---Shanna is SUPER fast! I got my hair colored, hair extensions, and styled all in about three hours!

I have wavy/curly hair, and have found that not all stylists are versed in working with curly hair. But Shanna is definitely an expert at cutting and styling curly hair. My hair looks great! I recently moved to Austin from Ohio with bleaching gone wrong. I researched color specialists in his area and kept seeing Shanna's name. I was hesitant to try something else with my hair color but knew something needed to be done. Shanna was honest about the condition of my hair and what it could tolerate. She asked me everything from the heat setting I use on my hairdryer and straighter to the types of shampoo I use. She now has me on the right track to getting my blonde hair back the healthy way!! Was very impressed and look forward to my next visit!

Shanna is fabulous!! I've been visiting Lush Life Salon & Boutique since September 2009. I'm so happy to have found this place here in Austin. Shanna does a wonderful job on cuts, color and extensions. I recently just started wearing extensions and I love them! If you want long beautiful hair, she's the person to see here in Austin. I went to see Shanna today and the only thing that I regret is that I didn't take before and after pics. She gave me the best cut I ever had! Ever! I have curly hair and I feel like being a hair dresser doesn't necessarily make you a curly-hair-dresser you have to be born with it, I don't know! Shanna is the best. I had been searching for a new stylist after moving to town and trying several including Anne Kelso, Avante, and Urban Betty. I found the reviews for Shanna on here and decided to give her a try! Glad I did. She has a great eye for color and also gives great haricuts. The first time she saw me she said I should go brownish-red (I was almost full blonde) and I was a bit apprehensive. I finally gave in a month ago, and the results were beautiful! I got so many compliments and I'm sticking with this new color for a good while!\r
Her new location is convenient and is so cute! Definetely a relaxing enviornment with a spa appeal. \r
Prices are about the same, maybe a little less, as most salons for cut and color.

I went to Shanna for the first time yesterday and it was perfect. I got bangs for the first time since I was about 8 and went in not sure how the bangs would look, but came out ecstatic!!!!
She was very honest and straightforward about what she was doing and also other ways you could achieve the same look at home.
I am very picky about my hair and I have been with the same hairdresser since I was about 7, but she is in Lubbock and well I have successfully found my Austin professional!!!!!!

Shanna is great with color, she's done mine twice now, once for a challenging strawberry blonde color and another for a reddish brunette. Both times, Shanna was honest about what was possible and what would work and did not disappoint with her color formulas.

I have had two great hair stylists in the past. They are few are far between...it has been 15 years since my hair has looked like I wanted. Shanna did wonders for my hair cut, textue and color. My hair was curly, fine, dry, and over colored when I saw Shanna for the first time last week. My only request was a natural color and hair that wasn't frizzy. What Shanna gave me was a beautiful head of curls that was the perfect color! All I did was see Shanna - she did the rest! Thank you, Shanna!

Went to Shanna today for the first time. I have very curly hair that has become dry and thinner in the past few years. I was afraid to cut it shorter because it might just frizz. Shanna listened to my concerns, looked at the photos I brought with me of possible cuts, gave me her opinion and then gave me a great cut. It is hard to find someone who can cut curly hair well, I recommend her highly!

I've gone to Shanna for cuts only since I found her. We talked about color on one of my visits to her. I expressed the nervousness of it, being that I haven't colored my hair in 6yrs! I let her know what I liked, she let me know what look I could pull off. Needless to say I love it! Not a drastic change, something simple, but enough to see a difference. I LOVE IT SHANNA!!! Shanna is very professional and makes you feel very comfortable. I went to Shanna after having my hair burned off after being backdrafted by a fireplace. It took me about six months to finally go to a professional, and she made me feel very comfortable. We had a consultation and she got me in the beginning of the following week to apply the extensions. SHe had chosen the perfect colors to match my hair, was very pleasant and professional, and put in my new extensions in just a little over an hour. I love my new hair! I was able to get out of the shower and only blowdry my hair, scrunching it, and had to do little else. It looks and feels wonderful and was well worth the expense. I will go back when needed and have them put back back in.

You only try a new hairdresser when you are unhappy with the one you went to last and that has been the case with my poor hair. You would think that people who DO alter other people's haircolor would be fairly adept at finding a color that remotely makes their client look and feel good, but this must not always be the case.

With my unhappily & oddly darkened chopped-up scary hair, I knew I had to try again and so I looked for places near my office. Hair therapy? That sounded promising so I called and left a message.

The desperation in my voice must have been evident, because she called right back said she would squeeze me in. I walked into her little place and immediately felt great vibes. With my extremely fine hair the cut is just as important as the color and Shanna's color & cut are perfect, correcting months of hacked up tresses. She knows what she is doing. Period.

She is moving soon to a new location, so I guess that means a little further for me to drive but I am signing on for repeats and have zero regrets.

Shanna had just finished hair extensions on another client when I came for my second visit. She told me after they left or I would NEVER have known! Kinda made me think--- hmmmm maybe I need long hair! I will ask my hair therapist at my next visit & Shanna will know what's right.

I was pleased to find that she was very professional. When I told her I was ready for a change, she recommended a type of cut that suited my hair type. I felt very comfortable with her style and technique. She also gave good advice about how I could use some her styling techniques at home. I am very happy with the results.

I have been all over the place since moving to college looking for ""that special hair experience""... and most of them ended in disappointment! My partner got her 3c curls cut off by Shanna about a month ago (from shoulder length to boy-short adorable!). After seeing how well Shanna listened and manifested what she'd requested, I was actually *excited* to go put my butt in her chair! I've been growing my 3b curls out since we moved to Austin three years ago. I've only had it trimmed about 4 times and the shape was now ""off"". I'm also a ""curly girl"" with scalp issues, and don't subject my hair/scalp to sulfate shampoo. Shanna didn't blink an eye at my request for conditioner only. She cut my hair back into shape, made me feel completely at ease, and in the end I was thrilled to give her my money. I have been going to see Shanna for about 2 years now and made my first appt. based on good reviews on this site. I am so happy I trusted what other clients said about Shanna. She is awesome. I get color that has many different dimensions and looks very natural. I get a lot of compliments on my hair and that feels great! I first started going to see Shanna when she was located a little more central. Now that she is a little farther north, it is still WELL worth the drive for this far south austinite. Shanna is fun and makes you feel like a friend from the first time you step into her room. She listens to what you want and has the vision and ""know how"" to give you GREAT results.

Shanna is FANTASTIC! She is one of the best hairdressers I have been to. Shanna actually listens to her clients to hear what they want. When styling your hair she tells you what she is doing and what to do to get the best results when you are trying to do it yourself. I've been seeing Shanna for several years. She has always done a great job on my color. I once decided to try going 'darker' and then found I didn't like it. Shanna worked me into her schedule fast, and ensured I was happy with the redo. She's also done a fantastic job on the cuts - gives shape to my rather difficult hair. She's big on customer service!
