It doesn't get much worse than bringing your car to a shop and having it come back worse than before!! I'll make it doubly easy: forget this place ever existed, and never go there, EVER...

Sure, the anti-establishment name across the facade on a cool neon sign, a hip clientele at the Guadalupe location chilling to world music and public radio, retro French cars they dabble in parked in front, etc. -- but this place is ridiculous...

So, here's the short story: I bring in a late 80s Mercedes I had just bought to get the AC worked on -- and to find out what else is seriously in need of repair before a long road trip.

Well they give me a laundry list of things -- essentially trying to make work for themselves, to the tune of $3000-4000!!...

The shop manager says I need brakes, telling me I've got only 10% left. Safety issues like brakes I take VERY seriously, so I perked up at this. He didn't realize the previous owner just had them done. He tells me I need shocks. Bull, says another shop I later take it to. They were trying to sell me on work that wasn't necessary. VERY UNCOOL.

I should have pulled the car out then and there. But they've got "this reputation"... They go forward with the AC -- and start throwing parts in... because they really can't figure out the problem. With a Benz this quickly adds up. And it's still not working; they can't figure out the problem! They keep the car 2 WEEKS!!

So they do this: they REMOVE all the parts they've put in, don't charge me -- and return a car that is not blowing air from the center fan (as it had when I brought it in), but has the mechanics grease marks all over the console. (This job alone will cost HUNDREDS of $$ for another shop to repair.) The owner refused to discuss my complaint, continually reminding me I wasn't getting charged, so basically, scram.

On their office wall they have a quote, something to the effect: it's the good customers who've been wrongly treated that just go away and you never hear from them again. Well, it's the really good customers that write a review and warn others away.
