I have been a member for almost 2 years, love this place, way better than the YMCA where you have to park on the street when you can find a spot. The Staff always greets you, is always helpful and makes it a joy to come in. The Facilities are top shelf, everything you need to drop pounds, 35 pounds so far, 10 more to go. Keep up the Great work, Highly recommend this place. Ed

I have lived in Bellingham for the last 20 years - I am over 60 and always belong to a fitness club - I have never belong to a club that is so well run - high energy - the staff are so helpful and so friendly - what I really appreciate is the cleanliness - and machine that are kept in excellent condition - you get a lot for $30.00 a month - the kids club is so darling - my daughters loves the fact that her baby is so well look after by professional staff - which in turn she does not have to worry while she is working out - my husband had a heart attack a year ago - now he has a program set up by a tremendous personal trainer - I could go on - but any negative that is said about the club - don't believe it - they deserve to be thank for all the effort they put in to please their members

Pros:

Easy accessiblity to western and southern Bellingham residents. Relatively cheaper price than other local gymnasiums. Abundance of amenities that include: tanning beds (additional costs are incurred to use the tanning beds), a childcare center, whirlpool, sauna, and steam room. Large locker and shower rooms. Sufficient bathroom space and utilities. Lots of equipment, geared to cover almost all fundamental aspects of cardiovascular, aerobic, and anaerobic training. Wide variety of programs designed to meet specific fitness goals, e.g., Boot Camp, Power Yoga, Zumba, etc. Plenty of floor space and an overall comfortable atmosphere.

Cons:

Comparatively poor staff service. Outdated equipment. Not a franchise, so can't have access to a similar fitness center in different locations. Falling behind on online and multimedia services that other franchise gyms now typically offer. Only open during most of the daylight hours, 5am - 11pm on weekdays and 7am - 7pm on weekends. Usually closed early or completely on or around holidays.

Overall:

While it has only been approximately seven months since I first joined the gym, so far I have not experienced any prominent problems or contract and billing issues since my membership enrollment. I would say that in general, my experience with this gym has been positive to say the least. A nice, convenient, and friendly neighborhood gym that I would certainly recommend!

I don??t know how someone could say that the Bellingham Fitness Boot Camp is not life changing if they followed the program. I??d been sitting behind my lawyer??s desk doing no exercise and ignoring my diabetes. My assistant asked me to join her in the boot camp and I??ve now done three in a row at Bellingham Fitness. I??m down 58 lbs. and feeling like I??ve got a new body!
The program is 8 weeks not 9 and there are only 3 Certified Personal Trainers not 5-6 who each run a specific time and keep very close track of their group with written before and after stats; body fat, measurements, weight, fit test... You know specifically how you did and the people in my group all had phenomenal results. Prizes are given out for different categories at the Awards Dinner at the end and the majority of people are thrilled with their results. It??s a very well thought out program with specific routines for each day and the instructors do pay very close attention to their group providing modifications for different fitness levels.
My advice is if you??re interested don??t hesitate to get information at the club. I??ve been there now for over 6 months and the staff is extremely friendly to everyone. Very comfortable.

I could hardly walk for days in a row after class. I hated it, and I got no results. Same dress size and weight at the end of a 9 wk program. It was pitched to me as a class with an average weight loss of 15-20 pounds.

The positive: affordable tanning beds, lots of machines, cheap.

There are two problems I have one is the aerobics schedule. The Boot camp has taken over a lot of slots in aerobics and I would never hire a personal trainer there. The two times I've talked to personal trainers they have been sort of rude. I like the gym I never have a problem finding a exercise machine. The times work for me. I also feel comfortable at that gym.

This is a fantastic gym. I??ve been working out most of my life and I try to get to a gym even when traveling for work. Even in the big cities it??s hard to find a place with so much equipment to chose from and still have a warm and friendly, small club feel. The gym??s got programs and personal trainers to get new people started safely and lots of variety for people like me who??ve been using gyms for a long time. I never have to wait around to get on equipment and I love using their spa after a good workout.

When I decided I needed to join a gym I was pretty out of shape and not feeling real good about myself. I tried every club in Bellingham to see where I would feel comfortable and get real support. Bellingham Fitness on State Street was the only club that I felt like people weren't looking at me and where the staff has really helped me from day 1. Three other ladies I work with and now work out with had the same experience.

I've been a member there now for 5 years and the family that owns it just keeps making it better. Since I started there, I'm down about 55 pounds but I'm feeling and looking so much better I can't even compare.
