Very helpful office. Nice knowledgeable staff and nurses. Pleasant and relaxing surroundings. High Tech, but listened to me and answered all my questions. I will no longer worry about my eyecare needs, I have a true professional to do that for me, and I will be a patient here for life!

I was referred by my primary doctor to Peninsula Ophthalmology Group for an eye exam. because it is nearer to where I live. The first time I went to that appointment, I already felt that the staff in this medical office were all very cold and unfriendly, except the nursing assistant who help me with the eye exam. The doctor tried to appear friendly (after about 25 minutes of waiting to see him), but he also subtly showed that he was very busy and tried to get rid of the patients as quickly as possible. On the other hand, he wanted me to go back for more eye exams which I thought could have all been done on the same day if not for extra co-payment the doctor tried to squeeze out of me.The nursing assistant who help me during the second exam date was awfully rude and unprofessional. She didn't hesitate to show a "I don't care" attitude. She kept saying "Well, that's all I can do" when she tried to get some scanning pictures of my eyes and apparently didn't do it well. And sure enough the doctor told me later that the picture wasn't well taken. However, he dismissed that there was any problem. My worst experience with this Peninsula Ophthalmology Group was the way they tried to impose extra charge on the patients and then give you the "don't you dare question" attitude. I was referred by my primary doctor with a letter stating the co-payment for the first visit should be waived, which is the same when I was referred to see other specialists. The registration staff at Peninsula Ophthalmology Group confirmed that I didn't have to pay the co-payment during the first visit. But later, a bill for co-payment on that first visit was mailed to me. I called to inquired and was yelled at by a "Joan Meinhold," who claimed to be "The Director," when I asked to speak to her supervisor. I tried to explained to her that my referral letter stated I didn't have to copay for the first visit, which is the same as all other specialist visits I went to, but she yelled "you came to see a doctor, you have to pay co-payment!" I told her she was very rude and asked to speak to her supervisor, but she yelled "you are the one who didn't want to listen and I AM THE DIRECTOR!" Then she said "I WILL PULL OUT THE REFERRAL LETTER RIGHT NOW!" and started to claimed that because there was no reflection, I have to pay. I don't know what a reflection is, but I have a feeling this medical group is trying everything to leech money out of patients. I don't who and where else I can complain to, but I will make sure that all my relatives, friends and co-workers will know about this!

We first saw Dr. Koo at his San Bruno office when my son was in Kindergarten and more than a little apprehensive about getting his glasses. Dr. Koo was caring and patient and explained each procedure which set my son at ease. When it came time to choose his frames, his staff made it a fun experience for him and complimented him on his "fancy new look".

Great staff - highly recommended

I see Dr. Koo at the Peninsula Ophthalmology Group in Burlingame. He just moved his from San Bruno and the new office is beautiful. The waiting room is like being in a ritzy hotel lobby and he has all the latest high-tech eye equipment for examining my eyes. His new optical shop is also very pretty, although the selection is not that large. The new staff at the office is very courteous. I have been seeing Dr. Koo for several years and he is a wonderful, caring and patient doctor. He always has time to listen to you. I feel very lucky to have found such a great eye doctor. If you need someone to check up your eyes in the Burlingame area, I would highly recommend you go see Dr. Koo.
